Cabinet forms body to negotiate peace in restive Swat district: Babak

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Cabinet with Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti Tuesday formed a six member committee headed by two senior ministers for negotiating peace in restive Swat district. The committee will consists of senior ministers Bashir Ahmed Bilour, Rahimdad Khan, and four provincial minister belonging to Malakand Division which has been empowered to move forward the peace process with the consultation of the elders, Ulema and elected representatives in two weeks.
Briefing newsmen after meeting of the provincial cabinet, provincial Information Minister Sardar Hussain Babak flanked by Secretary Information Azmat Hanif Orakzai and Director Information Faridullah Khan, said though the cabinet had no specific agenda for the meeting but it reviewed various issues in detail and took certain decisions.
The cabinet laid great stress on the maintenance of peace in the province with special reference to Swat District.
The Frontier Province, he said, was faced with the problem of law and order after 9/11 episode as no serious effort has been taken to overcome the growing problem. The coalition government of NWFP, he said was sincere in bringing back the durable peace in the province and will talk to every one who mattered in this regard.
The law and order problem in Malakand division, Mr.Babak said, would be redressed through traditional jirga system.
The Information Minister said that the caretaker NWFP government has overstepped from its mandate by massively indulging itself in posting and transfers of the government employees.
To undo illegal transfers done by the caretakers in the province during last four months, the cabinet directed the Ministers to prepare a detailed report of the postings and transfers made in their departments after the general elections in two weeks time, he maintained.
The cabinet, he said, also reviewed arrangements about the proposed visit of the Prime Minister to Peshawar on April 9 (Wednesday).
He said the cabinet decided to take up the mater of increasing the strength of police force, availability of modern weapons and arms, improvement in infrastructure of law enforcing agencies, recalling back the FC platoons deployed outside the province with the Prime Minister.
The Cabinet also decided to bring changes in the district cadre recruitment policy of education department under which 60 percent appointments would be made at the union council level and 40 percent through open merit while previously it was 75:25 ratios.
To settle the problem of clean drinking water, traffic, education, health and other urban civic facilities in Peshawar city, the cabinet constituted a committee comprising provincial ministers, which will submit its reports in two weeks time to the cabinet.
The cabinet, he said has also decided to take practical steps for avoiding flour crises in the province and agreed to take up the matter with the Punjab and Federal Governments. It hailed the raids being conducted by the IGP and Chief Secretary over the flour markets.
A provincial team would proceed to Punjab to remove the bottlenecks hampering the smooth flow of the wheat to the NWFP. The matter would also be brought in the notice of the Prime Minister during his visit to Peshawar, he added.
The cabinet, he said, also directed the senior ministers to review shortcomings in the present Local Government system and recommend proposals and suggestions for bringing improvement in it at the provincial level. The offices of RCOs, he said would not be changed and will allow to work as it is.
The cabinet expressed the resolve the work above the political affiliations for the development of the province with main focus on improving socio economic lot of the people. It also agreed to expedite joint efforts for achieving provincial autonomy and provincial rights.
To a question, the Information Minister said the government would slash its expenditures and uniform development program would be launched for the districts.

President Musharraf to attend BFA : Spokesperson

BEIJING - The Chinese foreign office spokesperson said here Tuesday that President Pervez Musharraf and a number of head of states will visit China at the invitation of President Hu Jintao for attending the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA).
President Hu Jintao will deliver key note speech at the annual session of BFA on April 12, spokeswoman Jiang Yu said lying at a regular press briefing.
She said the other foreign head of states attending the forum’s opening ceremony include, Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria, Tongan King Taufa’ahau Tupou V, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jabir Al-thani, and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
The three-day BFA meeting starting from April 11 will focus on environment-related talks to build a sustainable Asia.
The BFA was established in 2001 as a platform for high-level interaction between leaders from Asia and the world.

Fehmida hopes new Govt to address masses problems

ISLAMABAD : Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza Tuesday said, the country was confronting problems like poverty, unemployment, law and order, inflation, injustice, low growth and investment and terrorism and extremism that needed immediate attention and redressal. She was talking to six-member French Media Delegation headed by Oliver O’ Mahony that called on her in the Parliament House.
The Speaker said with the election of new Parliament, Pakistan has witnessed a tremendous change and unlike the past it is having a Parliament responsible to the people.
“The present Parliament is fully charged with the resolve to solve the problems of poverty and backwardness and ensure equitable provision of facilities to people,” she said.
She said the past dictatorial system was responsible for the social and economic evils confronting the country and now it was imperative for the political forces to get united to resolve these issues.
Underlining the need for strengthening institutions in the country, the Speaker said, only strong democratic institutions and strong Parliament were the appropriate fora to redress the long standing problems of the people.
She said each institution has a role and therefore should be allowed to perform in its sphere prescribed in Constitution.
The Speaker said she wanted the Parliament to be completed by appointing the Leader of Opposition as soon as possible.
She said, unlike the past, she will work to make the Parliament move vibrant by allowing equal opportunity to all members from parties and facilitating maximum legislation for the welfare of the people.
Dr Fehmida said, empowerment of women was one of the priority of the Government; and the Parliament will ensure that real empowerment of women and gender equality in the country do take place.
She said the politicians and Parliamentarians of today are more committed and want to achieve the targets set by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

واضح رہے کہ پنجاب اسمبلی میں مسلم لیگ ق کے ٹکٹ پر 84ارکان منتخب ہوئے تھے جِن میں سے 20سے زیادہ اعلانیہ طور پر فارورڈ بلاک میں شامل ہو چکے ہیں، جب کہ پریس کانفرنس سے پہلے اجلاس میں 60سے زیادہ ارکان کی شرکت کا چودھری پرویز الہٰی نے دعویٰ کیا تھا۔
پنجاب کے سابق وزیرِ اعلیٰ نے یہ بھی بتایا کہ سپیکر کے عہدے کے لیے اُن کی جماعت کے امیدوار محسن لغاری ہوں گے۔

Pakistani pride: Besides films, Pakistani actress Iman Ali has also done plays like Woh Saat Din and Jaaye Kahaan yeh Dil.


No debutante could have asked for a better launch pad. "I never thought I would be part of history when I signed the film. But yes… I am glad," says Pakistani actor Iman Ali whose debut, Khuda Kay Liye, happens to be the first Pakistani film to release in India.The daughter of the famous Pakistani actor Abid Ali, however, isn't happy with what she believes is a lack of hype around the film. "I believe more should be written about the film," she says. The articulate Iman comes across as somebody who doesn't mince words. "I am getting offers to work in Bollywood but I am not game for exposure. I'll wait for a good script instead. The producer has to meet my conditions and I am firm on them," says Iman, referring to Pakistani leading lady, Meera, and her running into controversy after a kissing sequence in Nazar. This is the one reason, Iman says, why she picked up Khuda... from among many offers back home."I am getting offers to work in Bollywood but I am not game for exposure. I'll wait for a good script instead.""More than religion, the film is about compassion and humanity. It is for everyone," says the actor who has worked with Indian designers such as JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani, Rina Dhaka and others as a model. Khuda… may be her debut film, but Iman has dabbled in plays such as Woh Saat Din and Jaye Kahan Yeh Dil. And like many of her contemporaries, Iman refuses to categorise films under genres. "A film is a film. There is nothing called an off-beat or a commercial film," she declares. Coming back to Hindi films, Iman has a dream. "I loved Umrao Jaan, the one directed by Muzaffar Ali. But he no longer makes films," she says, allowing a wistfulness to enter her voice. The big-time Hollywood fan also loves Hindi films, and the last ones she has watched are Omkara, Taare Zameen Par and Jab We Met. "I loved Jab... If such films were offered to me, I'd latch on to them," says Iman who is set to star in a Hindi film about which she will not say anything at the moment. Finally, how confident is she about Khuda… in India?"It should do well like it has in Pakistan and other countries," she says.

Parvathy, 20, came from Kottayam and is studying English Literature at Mithibai College; Simran, 22, is a biotechnology student from Versova; and, Harshita, 20, who is originally from Goa, left college in Canada to come to India in search of the PFMI crown. Dressed by Ritu Kumar in figure-hugging sarees for the grand finale, the girls were crowned by last year’s winners after they answered the final round question: Was the rising divorce rate in India a result of Western influence? Earlier, friends and family of the 28 finalists cheered lustily during the star-studded ceremony each time a girl walked onto the ramp and waved out to the audience. The vivacious Dia Mirza and witty R Madhavan, comperes for the event, led the finalists through their paces. And even though the competition was fierce, there could be seen a bonding between the girls, especially in the manner they applauded each other on stage. Diana unlawfully killed, inquest rules

LONDON - Princess Diana and her lover Dodi al-Fayed were unlawfully killed by the grossly negligent driving of their chauffeur and paparazzi photographers pursuing them into a Paris road tunnel 10 years ago, an inquest ruled.
The jury, which had spent almost six months listening to more than 250 witnesses from around the world, reached their decision on Monday after deliberating for four days in a case that had sparked worldwide media interest.
A decade after the death of the world’s most photographed woman at 36, Britain’s former police chief John Stevens said he hoped this would finally bring closure to the tragedy and lay to rest conspiracy theories swirling around the case.
On the evening they died, Diana and Dodi fled from the back entrance of the Ritz Hotel in Paris in a desperate bid to avoid swarms of paparazzi photographers snapping their every move.
They pursued the ill-fated couple on high-powered motorbikes into the Alma tunnel and took pictures of the dying princess in the wrecked Mercedes after it smashed into pillar 13.
Dodi’s father, luxury store owner Mohamed al-Fayed, had accused Queen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip, Diana’s former father-in-law, of ordering British security services to kill her and stop her marrying a Muslim and having his baby.
In a statement after the judgment, al-Fayed said: “I’m not the only person who said they were murdered. Diana predicted that she would be murdered and how it would happen. So I am disappointed.”
He insisted that the Queen and her husband should have been called as witnesses. “No one should be above the law.”
“I have always believed that Prince Philip and the Queen hold valuable evidence that only they know.”
Henri Paul, the chauffeur, was an employee of the Ritz Hotel, owned by Fayed.
Drunk driver, no seat belts
The jury foreman said in court: “The crash was caused, or contributed to, by the speed and manner of the driver of the Mercedes and the speed and manner of the following vehicles.”
The foreman said contributing factors were: the fact Paul’s judgment was impaired by alcohol, Diana was not wearing a seat belt and that the car hit a pillar.
“I do hope everyone will take this verdict as closure,” said John Stevens, who led the British police probe into the deaths.
The presiding judge, Lord Justice Scott Baker, had specifically instructed the inquest jury to reject conspiracy theories that it was a staged accident.
Ken Wharfe, Diana’s former bodyguard, told the BBC: “I was surprised. Like a lot of people, I was expecting a verdict of accidental death.”
Diana’s sister Sarah left the court afterwards without saying anything to waiting reporters.
The inquest, estimated to have cost up to $20 million, stretched around the globe with witnesses heard by video link from France, the United States, Nigeria, Kenya and Australia.
Few details of Diana’s private life were spared as friends, family, faith healers, spies, bodyguards, police chiefs and butlers were called to give their opinion at an inquest that sparked worldwide media interest.
It was delayed for 10 years because Britain had to wait for the French legal process and then a British police investigation to run their course before it could begin.
Both police inquiries concluded the crash was a tragic accident caused by Paul being drunk and driving too fast. Paul was employed by al-Fayed at his Ritz Hotel.
Under British law, an inquest to determine the cause of death is required when someone dies unnaturally.

Me and Pearl

Pearl.. a one year old baby proved to be my nemesis in U, Me aur Hum. She was essential for the shoot as I am shown as a mother during the course of the film. Now I get along with all children. Being a mother, I can relate well to children and they in turn, like me. But when it mattered most, I was unable to win the love of this child. As luck would have it...Pearl, the one year old baby took an instant dislike to me. Everytime I would take her in my arms, the little tyke would start howling. And to make matters worse, the scene required the baby to look lovingly up at me. To get that perfect shot, Jay and our team had to toil very hard. The cameras would be kept rolling and the mother would very slowly put Pearl in my arms. Now Pearl loved chocolate. So now the mother and the chocolate were conveniently placed next to the camera so that Pearl could look up lovingly towards the camera. I am serious. That scene took ages to shoot. There would be pin drop silence on the set. Thank God for chocolates. If Pearl had not loved chocolates, we would have still been shooting for that one scene.

ہیگ ۔ ہالینڈ کی ایک عدالت نے قرآن مخالف شرانگیز فلم پر پابندی لگانے کی درخواست کو مسترد کر دیا ہے نیدرلینڈ اسلامک فاؤنڈیشن کی طرف سے وکلاء نے عدالت میں اپیل دائر کی تھی کہ ہالینڈ کے پارلیمنٹیرین وائلڈ ر کی شر انگیز فلم پر پابندی عائد کی جائے کیونکہ اس سے مسلمانوں کی توہین اور دل آزاری ہو رہی ہے ۔ہیگ کی عدالت کے جج نے اس درخواست کو مسترد کر دیا ہے اور کہا ہے کہ آزادی اظہار رائے اسے یہ حق دیتی ہے کہ وہ اسلام اور قرآن پر تنقید کر سکے واضح رہے کہ گزشتہ ماہ جاری ہو نے والی فلم پر پوری دنیا میں مسلمانوں میں شدید رد عمل پایا جاتا ہے اور مسلمان اس پر مسلسل مظاہرے کر رہے ہیں جبکہ اس فلم کو انٹرنیٹ پر جاری کر نے والی ویب کمپنی نے بھی اس کو جاری کر نے سے انکار کر دیا تھا لیکن کچھ عرصے بعد اس کو انٹر نیٹ پر جاری کر دیا گیا تھا اور یہ فلم برطانوی ویب کمپنی نے جاری کی تھی۔

لاہور۔ جماعت اسلامی پاکستان کے امیر قاضی حسین ا حمد نے کہاہے کہ پیپلز پارٹی ق لیگ کی ایکسٹنشن ہونے کا تاثر نہ دے اس سے قومی مفاہمت کی کوششوں کو دھچکا لگے گا اور اے پی ڈی ایم ، وکلا برادری ، سول سوسائٹی اور میڈیا کے لیے خاموش رہنا مشکل ہو جائے گا ۔ لوگ چہروں اور پارٹیوں کے بجائے نظام اور پالیسیوں میں تبدیلی چاہتے ہیں ۔ حکمران آئینی پیکج کے نام پر افتخار محمد چوہدری کو فارغ کر کے قومی جذبات کے ساتھ کھیلنے سے باز رہیں ۔ ڈاکٹر عبدالقدیر خان اصل قومی اثاثہ ہیں ، انہیں فوری رہا کر کے باعزت مقام دیا جائے ۔ تمام جج بحال اور ڈاکٹر خان رہا نہ ہوئے ، پرویز مشرف موجود رہے اور حکومت نام نہاد دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ کے نام پر اپنے لوگوں کے قتل عام میں شریک رہی تو قوم کا سخت ردعمل سامنے آ ئے گا اور حکمران عوامی عتاب سے نہیں بچ سکیں گے ۔ ان خیالات کااظہار انہوں نے پیر کے روز اسلام آباد میں جماعت اسلامی فاٹا کے ذمہ داران اور قبائلی ایجنسیوں کے عہدے داروں اور شوراؤں کے ممبران کی سہ روزہ تربیت گاہ کے دوسرے روز خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا ۔ تربیت گاہ سے جماعت اسلامی صوبہ سرحد کے امیر سراج الحق ، جنرل سیکرٹری شبیر احمد خان ، نائب امیر صوبہ مولانا محمد اسمعیل اور معراج الدین خان نے بھی خطاب کیا ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ پیپلز پارٹی کے رہنماؤں کے خارجہ اور داخلہ پالیسیوں ، ججوں کی بحالی اور پرویز مشرف سے متعلق بیانات سے یہ تاثر مل رہاہے کہ جیسے نظام نہیں صرف چہرے بدلے ہیں اور پیپلز پارٹی نے ق لیک کی جگہ لے لی ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ چیف جسٹس افتخار محمد چوہدری سے چھٹکارا حاصل کرنے کے منصوبے بنائے جارہے ہیں اور آئینی پیکج کے نام پر انہیں راستے سے ہٹانے کی سازش ہو رہی ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ ایک جماعت ججوں کی بحالی کے حوالے سے تاخیری حربے استعمال کر رہی ہے اس کے رہنماؤں کی طرف سے ججوں کو تنقید کا نشانہ بنایا جارہاہے اور جان بوجھ کر بحالی کے معاملے کو لٹکایا جارہاہے ۔ اس طرز عمل نے وکلا برادری اور سول سوسائٹی سمیت پوری قوم کو حیرت میں ڈال دیاہے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ افتخار محمد چوہدری کو اس لیے راستے سے ہٹایا جائے گاکہ وہ این آر او کے ذریعے مقدمات اور کرپشن معاف کروانے کے لیے خطرہ بن سکتے ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ یہ رویہ عدلیہ کی آزادی ، ججوں کی بحالی کے وعدوں اور اعلان مری کی روح کے منافی ہے ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے اس امید کا اظہار کیاکہ نواز شریف ایسی کسی سازش کا حصہ نہیں بنیں گے اور وعدے کے مطابق تمام جج بحال کرائیں گے یا عوامی تحریک کا حصہ بن جائیں گے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ قومی اسمبلی کے اگلے اجلاس میں ججوں کی بحالی کی قرار داد آنی چاہیے ۔انہوں نے کہاکہ وزیراعظم کے ایک ایگزیکٹو سے جج بحال ہو سکتے ہیں ۔ آئینی پیکج کے نام پر کوئی اور راستہ اختیار کیا گیا تو یہ قابل قبول نہیں ہو گا۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ یہ پرویز مشرف کے دو نومبر کے غیر آئینی اقدام کو تسلیم کرنے کے مترادف ہو گا اور لوگ سمجھیں گے کہ آئینی پیکج کا میلہ ججوں کی چادر لوٹنے کے لیے سجایا جارہاہے ۔انہوں نے کہاکہ جنرل مشرف کے بجائے ڈاکٹر عبدالقدیر خان پاکستان کا اصل قومی اثاثہ ہیں ۔ انہوں نے ملک کے دفاع کو ناقابل تسخیر بنایا ہے اور قوم کے غیر متنازعہ ہیرو ہیں ۔ عوام ان کو آزاد اور باعزت مقام پر دیکھنا چاہتے ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ عوامی حکومت کے دعوے داروں نے بھی ڈاکٹر قدیر خان کو پابند سلاسل رکھا ہوا ہے ۔ ان کی نظر بندی مجرمانہ فعل ہے ۔ جمہوری حکومت محسن کشی کے سلسلے کو آگے نہ بڑھائے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ ڈاکٹر قدیر خان کو تنقید کانشانہ بنانے والوں کی آنکھیں اس رپورٹ سے کھل جانی چاہئیں کہ ہمارے پاس ایٹمی قوت نہ ہوتی تو 2002 ء میں بھارت پاکستان پر حملہ آور ہو جاتا ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ ڈاکٹر خان کینسر جیسے موذی مرض میں مبتلا ہیں ۔ مسلسل نظر بندی سے انہیں ذہنی اذیت سے دوچار کیا جارہاہے ۔ اگر خدانخواستہ انہیں کچھ ہوا تو پرویز مشرف کے ساتھ موجودہ حکمران بھی اس کے ذمہ دار ہوں گے ۔ ایک سوال کے جواب میں قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ پاک انڈیا دوستی سمیت پرویز مشرف کے تمام اقدامات امریکی حکم کا نتیجہ تھے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ اس رپورٹ سے پاکستانی قوم کا سر شرم سے جھک گیاہے کہ پرویز مشرف کی تقریر کے نکات بھی امریکی ڈکٹیٹ کراتے تھے ۔ بے دام غلامی کی اس سے بڑی مثال اور کوئی نہیں ہوسکتی ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ پاکستانی قوم ایسے غلاموں اور ان کی پالیسیوں سے فوری چھٹکارا چاہتی ہے ۔

اوکاڑہ ۔ سپریم کورٹ بار ایسوسی ایشن کے صدر بیرسٹر اعتزاز احسن نے کہا ہے کہ قومی سلامتی ہتھیاروں سے نہیں آزاد عدلیہ سے ممکن ہے ۔ افتخار محمد چوہدری کے بغیر عدلیہ کی بحالی منظور نہیں جو جج افتخار محمد چوہدری کے بغیر اپنی سیٹ پر بیٹھے گا وہ پی سی او کا جج ہو گا ۔ عدلیہ کی بحالی کے بغیر موجودہ پارلیمنٹ مقتدر نہیں ہو سکتی ۔ شوکت عزیز 150 ارب کی سٹیل مل 22 ارب روپے میں فروخت کر کے ایسا بھاگا کہ اپنا ووٹ ڈالنے نہیں آیا ۔ دھاندلی کے باوجود (ق) لیگ نے 40 سیٹیں جیتی اب مشرف اور (ق) لیگ ایک علی بابا اور چالیس چور بن چکے ہیں ۔ ان خیالات کا اظہار انہوں نے ڈسٹرکٹ بار اوکاڑہ میں وکلاء سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا ۔ اس موقع پر سیاسی جماعتوں کے کارکن اور سول سوسائٹی کے افراد بھاری تعداد میں موجود تھے ۔ بیرسٹر اعتزاز احسن نے کہا کہ شہری خوشحال نہ ہوں تو نیوکلیئر ہتھیار قومی سلامتی کی ضمانت نہیں بن سکتے ۔ روس کے پاس 40 ہزار نیوکلیئر ہتھیار تھے لیکن اب اس کا وجود دنیا کے نقشے پر موجود نہیں ۔ شہریوں کی خوشحالی آزاد عدلیہ جبکہ قومی سلامتی بھی آزاد عدلیہ سے ہی ممکن ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ حکومت نے افتخار محمد چوہدری کے سوا44 جج بحال کرنے کی پیش کش کی مگر ہمیں کوئی ایسا فارمولہ قبول نہیں جو جج بھی افتخار چودھری کے بغیر اپنی سیٹ پر بیٹھے گا وہ پی سی او کا جج ہو کہلائے گا ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ فوج کے اقتدار کا کوئی قانونی جواز نہیں ہوتا صرف جواز پیدا کرنے کیلئے قومی سلامتی کا نظریہ بنایا گیا ۔ اعتزاز احسن نے کہا کہ ہمارا مقصد افتخار محمد چوہدری یا دیگر 44 ججز کو بحال کروانا نہیں بلکہ سپریم کورٹ سے لے کر مجسٹریٹ کی عدالتوں تک افتخار چوہدری جیسے افراد بٹھانا اور اسی طرز کا نظام بنانا ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ 18 فروری کو عوام نے پرویز مشرف کو برطرف کردیا مگر وہ نہ مانوں کی ضد پر قائم ہے ۔ وکلاء کے کالے کوٹوں نے اسے وردی اتارنے اور الیکشن کروانے پر مجبور کیا ۔ 364 دن مشرف نے (ق) لیگ کے لئے دھاندلی کی الیکشن والے دن آرمی چیف کیانی کی وجہ سے دھاندلی کمزور پڑ گئی ۔ دھاندلی کے باوجود مشرف کی (ق) لیگ 272 میں سے 40 سیٹیں جیت پائی جس سے مشرف علی بابا اور (ق) لیگ والے 40 چور بن گئے ۔ اعتزاز احسن نے کہا کہ 1954 ء سے 9 مارچ 2007ء تک عدلیہ اقتدار کی پٹڑی پر رہی مگر افتخار چودھری کے ایک انکار نے عدلیہ کی تاریخ بدل دی ۔ ا نہوں نے کہا کہ اس انکار کے بعد جو کام فرعونٗ نمرود اور عیصر و کسریٰ والے نے کر سکے وہ مشرف نے افختار محمد چوہدری اور اس کے بچوں کو قید کر کے کردیا ۔ 7 محرم کو یزید نے خاکفادہ رسولؐ کا پانی بند کیا اسی روایت پر عمل کرتے ہوئے مشرف نے افتخار محمد چوہدری اور اس کے اہلخانہ اور بچوں کا پانی بند کردیا ۔ اعتزاز احسن نے کہا کہ اگرچہ رانا بھگوان داس ریٹائرڈ ہو چکے ہیں مگر ہم ان کے وقار کو بحال کروائیں گے ان کے دل پر لگا زخم دھوئیں گے ۔ اعتزاز احسن نے کہا کہ مشرف کے ظلم و ستم کے بعد عدالتیوں کیسے بحال ہوں گی آزاد ہوں گی اس کے لئے جج کا نڈر اور جرأت مند ہونا ضروری ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ 30 دنوں کے خاتمے کے بعد اگلی تحریک کا اعلان ہو گا پارلیمنٹ اور سیاسی جماعتوں کا مستقبل بھی اسی میں ہے کہ وہ افتخار محمد چوہدری کے بغیر کسی قسم کی عدلیہ کی بحالی ہرگز ہرگز قبول نہیں ہے ۔ تقریب سے ڈسٹرکٹ بار ایسوسی ایشن اوکاڑہ کے صدر چوہدری صغیر احمد خان یارنی اور سیکرٹری جنرل سجاد حسن نارو نے بھی خطاب کیا جبکہ لاہور ہائیکورٹ بار کی فنانس سیکرٹری سیدہ فیروزہ رباب نے پرجوش نعرے لگوائے ۔

اسلام آباد۔ وزیر اعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے پاکستان کے اس عزم کا اعادہ کیا ہے کہ ہر قسم کی دہشت گردی اور انتہا پسندی کے خاتمے کے لئے کثیر الجہتی حکمت عملی اپنائی جائے گی وہ پیر کو اسلام آباد میں برطانیہ کے وزیر داخلہ جیک اسمتھ اور آسٹریلیا کی پاکستان میں ہائی کمشنر مس سریکا میکا رتھی سے باتیں کر رہے تھے جنہوں نے ان سے اسلام آباد میں الگ الگ ملاقات کی برطانوی وزیر داخلہ سے باتیں کرتے ہوئے انہو ںنے کہا کہ نئی جمہوری حکومت ان چیلنجوں سے نمٹنے کے لئے مختصر اور طویل مدت کے اقدامات کرے گی کیونکہ پاکستان خود دہشت گردی کا شکار ہے اس سلسلے میں انہو ںنے سابق وزیر اعظم بے نظیر بھٹو کی شہادت کا حوالہ دیا جو قوم کا ایک بڑا نقصان ہے وزیر اعظم نے کہا کہ دہشت گردی اور انتہا پسندی عالمی مسئلہ ہے اور عالمی برادری کو دہشت گردی کی وجوہات کے خاتمے پر توجہ دینی چاہیے جو اقتصادی ناہمواری اور حل طلب سیاسی مسائل کی وجہ سے پیدا ہو ئی ہے جبکہ پاکستان میں آسٹریلیا کی ہائی کمشنر مس سریکا میکارتھی سے باتیں کر تے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان آسٹریلیا کے ساتھ اپنے تعلقات کو بڑی اہمیت دیتا ہے اور دو طرفہ تعلقات میں مزید اضافے کے لئے تعاون مزید بڑھانے کی ضرورت ہے وزیر اعظم نے کہا کہ پاکستان زلزلے اور سیلابوں کے دور میں آسٹریلیا کی امداد کی قدر کرتا ہے مس میکارتھی نے کہا کہ آسٹریلیا کی حکومت مختلف شعبوں میں تعاون کے ساتھ فاٹا میں منصوبوں پر کام کر نے میں دلچسپی رکھتی ہے

Qaim Ali Shah elected as leader of the house

KARACHI : Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Chief Minister-nominate, was Monday elected as leader of the house with 90 votes in favour. He was elected as new Chief Minister of Sindh in a special session held under the chairmanship of Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro this evening, for ascertainment of a person having the confidence of the Assembly to be the Chief Minister of Sindh.
The session was held sans MQM, PML(F), PML(Q) and NPP while those present in the house included 88 MPAs belonging to PPP and two belonging to ANP.
Earlier a number of members submitted motions expressing their confidence in Syed Qaiim Ali Shah as Chief Minister of Sindh.
Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro jointed all the motions together and put before the House which was carried unanimously.
All the 90 members present in the House including 88 belonging to PPP and two to ANP voted in favour of the motion and Speaker Nisar Khuhro declared Qaim Ali Shah elected as Chief Minister of Sindh.
Thereafter a number of MPA moved and greeted Syed Qaim Ali Shah on his unanimous election as Chief Minister of Sindh. However, Speaker Nisar Khuhro kept asking the MPAs to go back to their seats.
Later felicitation speeches were delivered by a number of MPAs who included Jam Tamachi, Rafiq Engineer, Ghullam Qadir Chandio and others.
In their speeches they said the PPP government will be faced with enomrous challenges in view of deteriorated conditions in almost every sector of life including health, education, roads, forests, irrigation water.
They hoped that the new Chief Minister will promote good governance to face these challenges and to solve the problems of people and in this regard the “sifarish” culture will have to be erased and best possible officials posted to achieve the desired results.
They said water of Sindh is being stolen, Thar coal not being explored and there is deterioration in every other sector like health, education, forests etc.
He said the new government will have to work with great sagacity and carefulness so as to come up to the expectations of people.
They said we are proud of the capabilities of Syed Qaim Ali Shah and hoped that he will act in a manner so that not only people of Sindh but of entire country may feel proud of him.

President, Prime Minister express grief over PA incident

KARACHI : President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday contacted Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and expressed their grief over the incident which took place at Sindh Assembly today.
They described such incidents as against democratic norms and ordered immediate inquiry into the same.

PM lauds inclusion of Chinese frigate in Pakistan Navy

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday welcomed the inclusion of a new Chinese frigate into the fleet of Pakistan Navy. He said that this is yet another milestone in the glorious history of Pakistan-China friendship and strategic partnership.
Appreciating the close collaboration of Pakistan Navy with the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard, Shanghai in manufacturing the first F-22 type frigate, he said that the induction of this frigate would auger well for the maritime defence of the country.
He said that it is a momentous occasion towards the modernization of Pakistan Navy and in strengthening its capabilities to monitor its territorial waters.
It may be mentioned that the first F-22 type Frigate given to Pakistan will be equipped with the state of the art weapon and sensor systems and will carry Z9EC helicopters which are also being manufactured in China.
The project includes complete transfer of technology for the construction of fourth ship of the frigate at Karachi shipyard.

Army Chief Addresses GHQ Officers

RAWALPINDI- The Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, while addressing the officers at General Headquarters said that every nation has a right to safeguard its national interest.
The Chief of Army Staff dilated on the importance of correct visualization of the threat to the nation. He said that unless the whole spectrum of threat is analyzed, a wholesome response cannot be worked out. He reiterated that consensus on threat is of utmost importance, in order to garner the public support.
The Chief of Army Staff also elaborated upon the concept of national security and said that defence of the country is best ensured when all elements of national power are harmonized.
The Chief of Army Staff also highlighted some of the measures that have been taken to make the functioning of the Army more efficient and responsive.

Punjab Assembly session on Apr 9

LAHORE : The inaugural session of the 14th Provincial Assembly of the Punjab will be held on Wednesday with over 350 members to take oath in house of 371. PML-N, part of ruling coalition have 165 seats in the assembly followed by PPP 106, PML(Q) 86, MMA 2 PML-F4 and independents 2.
PML-N has tipped Sardar Dost Muhammad Khosa son of Zulfiqar Khosa ,ex-governor and President PML-N Punjab as interim Chief Minister before Shahbaz Sharif get’s elected in by-election and reaches the house to take slot of provincial Chief executive of the province.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal will be the candidate of the coalition for speaker of the Punjab assembly.
Brief history of the Punjab Assembly is as follows;
After the creation of the country, first session of the assembly was held on January 5,1948 and last from March 15,1948 to April 4 1948.
Sheikh Faiz Muhammad was elected unopposed as its speaker on January 5,1948 and it had total 103 members. It was dissolved by Governor on January 25,1949.In total its two session were held and its actual working days were 29.
The first session of the second assembly of the Punjab was held on May 7,1951. Its total members were 193 while Dr.Khalifa Shuja Uddin was elected its speaker. With creation of one unit it ceased to exist on October 14,1955.
Following creation of one unit, elections were held on January 19,1956 and first session of the hosue having 310 members was held on May 5,1956.
Chaudhery Fazal Elahi was elected its speaker. In total its six sessions were held with actual working days of 80.
It was dissolved with the proclamation of Martial law on October 7,1958.
Fourth assembly which came into being through system of elections coined by the then president Ayub Khan complested its tenure of three years from june 9,192 to June 8 1965.
Fifth assembly whose first session was held on June 9,1965 having the same number of members 160 as the fourth assembly had was dissolved on March 25,1969 when once again when martial law imposed on the country.
After elections held in December 1970, first session of the 6th assembly of Punjab was held on May 2,1972. Its total members were 186.
Veteran PPP leader Sheikh Rafiq Ahmed was its speaker while in total its 19 session were held with 326 actual working days.
It was dissolved to hold new elections as per article 112 of 1973 constitution on January 13,1977.
After elections on March 10,1977,first session of the 7th assembly was held on April 9,1977.
Ch. Muhammad Anwar Bhinder was elected as its speaker while in total its two session were held with actual working days of 21 before once again martial law was clamped on the country on July 5,1977.
Eighth assembly came into being as a result of non-party elections held on February 28,1985 and its first session was held on March 12,1985.
It had total 260 members and Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo was elected as its speaker.
In total its 12 sessions were held with 160 actual working days.
Governor dissolved it on May 30,1988.
After death of President Ziaul Haq in a plane crash, country once against switched back to real democracy and party based elections were held in November 1988.
First session of 9th assembly of punjab was held on November 30,1988 with Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo elected as its speaker.
However,the assembly could not complete the tenure and was dissolved along with other elected institutions of the country in August 1990.
Assemblies that came into being as a result of elections held in october 1990, october 1993 and february 97 also could not complete their tenures.
However, the last assembly that came into being after elections were held on october 10,2002 completed its tenure.
The house has total 371 members including 297 general seats, 66 seats reserved for women and 8 reserved for minorities.

Govt not to restrict movement of A Q Khan: Foreign Minister

ISLAMABAD : Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Monday said that the government would not restrict the movement of Dr A Q Khan.
Talking to Dawn TV, he said ,”Dr Khan is a Pakistani and no doubt a respectful citizen.
“I think, he should be allowed to see his friends, he should be allowed to go for a drive, he should be allowed to go and have a meal at restaurant. I do not see any reason why he should be deprived of all this”, the Minister said.
He, however said that government was concerned about the security and health of renowned scientist.

BA to elect speaker and his deputy Tuesday

QUETTA : The nomination papers of PML-Q (Like Minded Group) Muhammad Aslam Bhotani and Syed Matiullah Agha of Mutahidda Majlis e Ammal have been approved for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.
The house is set to elect both the candidates unopposed as the PPPP led coalition has succeeded to muster the support of 61 out of total 65 members in the house.
The house would meet to elect the Speaker and his deputy on Tuesday. Outgoing speaker Jamal Shah Kakar would administer oath to the new speaker.

EC directs re-polling at 27 polling stations of PS-15

ISLAMABAD : Election Commission of Pakistan Monday directed re-polling at 27 polling stations of the Sindh Assembly constituency PS-15. Pursuant to the Order and order of March 28, 2008 passed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Commission directed re-polling at said polling stations on April 12, 2008.
The Supreme Court has passed the order in Civil Petition No.360/2008 (Mir Hassan Khoso vs Election Commission of Pakistan and others).
In pursuance of the decision, the Election Commission directed re-poll at the polling stations No. 16, 17, 19, 20, 23, 36, 65, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 78, 81, 82, 88, 89, 92, 93, 95, 102 and 103 of the constituency PS-15 Jacobabad-III.
The Commission has also directed the Returning Officer concerned to personally supervise the polling at these polling stations on said date with adequate resources.

وزیر اعظم نے لینڈ مافیا کے خلاف سخت کارروائی کرنے اور سرکاری اراضی وا گزار کرانے اور سرکاری اراضی پر قابضین کے بارے میں تفصیلی رپورٹ طلب کر لی ہے۔ تفصیل کے مطابق وزیر اعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی نے عوامی شکایات پر سخت ایکشن لیتے ہوئے چاروں صوبوں کے چیف سیکرٹریز کو احکامات جاری کئے ہیں کہ وہ لینڈ کمیشن ، متروکہ وقف املاک ، محکمہ اوقاف ، محکمہ انہار ، ریلوے بلدیات ، اور دیگر سرکاری اراضی پر ناجائز قابضین با اثر افراد کے خلاف بلا امتیاز کارروائی کر کے سرکاری اراضی کو وا گزار کروایا جائے ۔نیز سابقہ پانچ سالہ دور حکومت میں ہونے والی الاٹ منٹ کے بارے میں تفصیلی رپورٹ طلب کر لی ہے اور غریب بے گھر افراد کو گھر فراہم کرنے کے لیے پانچ مرلہ کے پلاٹ فراہم کرنے کے احکامات جاری کئے ۔ وزیر اعظم کے احکامات کی روشنی میں چیف سیکرٹریز نے تمام ڈی سی اوز کو حکم جاری کرتے ہوئے سرکاری اراضی پر ناجائز قابضین با اثر افراد لینڈ مافیا کے خلاف کارروائی کر کے سرکاری اراضی واگزار کرانے اور سابقہ پانچ سالہ دور حکومت میں ہونے والی الاٹ منٹ کے بارے میں تفصیلی رپورٹ طلب کر لی ہے ۔سرکاری اراضی وا گزار کرانے کے لیے محکمہ مال کی معاونت پولیس رینجرز کی بھی خدمات حاصل کی جائیں گی ۔

اوپیک ممالک مشترکہ بینک قائم کریں ، تیل کی قیمت کا تعین ڈالر کی بجائے مشترکہ کرنسی میں کیاجائے ، محمود احمدی نژاد

تہران ۔ایرانی صدر محمود احمدی نژاد نے اوپیک ممالک پر زور دیا ہے کہ وہ ایک مشترکہ بینک قائم کریں اور تیل کی قیمت کا تعین ڈالر کی بجائے مشترکہ کرنسی میں کیا جائے ۔ ایرانی حکومت کی ویب سائٹ کے مطابق احمدی نژاد نے اوپیک سے مطالبہ کیا ہے کہ اوپیک ممالک کا ایک علیحدہ بینک اور مشترکہ کرنسی ہونی چاہیے ۔ ایرانی صدر کا موقف تھا کہ عالمی مارکیٹ میں تیل کی خرید و فروخت امریکی ڈالر میں ہوتی ہے۔ ڈالر کی قدر ے میں مسلسل کمی کے سبب ایک طرف تیل کی قیمتو ںمیں اضافہ ہوا ۔ دوسری جانب تیل برآمد کرنے والے ملکوں کے ڈالر ریزروو کی مالیت بھی گھٹ رہی ہے ۔ ایرانی صدر یہ تجویز پہلے بھی پیش کر چکے ہیں لیکن اوپیک میں شامل امریکی اتحادی ممالک کی جانب سے اس تجویز کو خاطر خواہ پذیرائی نہیں ہو سکی ان ممالک میں سعودی عرب بھی شامل ہے

ججز بحال نہ ہوئے تو دما دم مست قلندر ہو گا ۔ اعتزاز احسن

پاکستان کم سے کم دفاعی صلاحیت برقرار رکھے گا ، وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی

اسلام آباد ۔ وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے کہاہے کہ پاکستان اپنی بقاء سلامتی اور خود مختاری کے لیے کم سے کم دفاعی صلاحیت برقرار رکھے گا۔ جوائنٹ چیفس آف سٹاف کمیٹی کے چیئرمین جنرل طارق مجید نے وزیر اعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی سے ملاقات کی جس میں دفاعی امور پر تبادلہ خیال کیاگیا ۔ ملاقات میں تینوں مسلح افواج کی کارکردگی بہتر بنانے پر تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا۔ دونوں راہنماوں نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ پاکستان اپنی کم سے کم دفاعی صلاحیت اپنے پاس رکھے گا اور یہ کہ پاکستان کے کوئی جارحانہ عزائم نہیں ہیں ۔ اس موقع پر وزیر اعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے جنرل طارق مجید کو یقین دلایاکہ حکومت پاکستان اپنی مسلح افواج کو جدید ترین سازو سامان سے لیس کرنے کے لیے تمام وسائل بروئے کار لائے گی ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ گو پاکستان کے کسی ملک کے خلاف جارحانہ عزائم نہیں ہیں اور کم سے کم دفاعی صلاحیت برقرار رکھی جائے گی ۔انہوں نے کہا کہ حکومت نے روایتی اور سٹریٹجک صلاحیتوں کے ذریعے کم از کم قابل اعتماد دفاعی استعداد برقرار رکھنے کاتہیہ کر رکھا ہے اور خطے میں امن و استحکام کے لیے پاکستان کو اہم کردار ادا کرنا ہو گا ۔ انہوں نے قدرتی آفات کے موقع پر اور بعد میں فوج کے کردار کی تعریف کی

بلوچستان اسمبلی کے ارکان نے حلف اٹھایا

بلوچستان اسمبلی میں اپوزیشن کے واحد رکن یار محمد رند اپوزیشن کا کردار اد ا کریں گے
کوئٹہ۔ بلوچستان اسمبلی ملک کی واحد اسمبلی ہے جس میں صرف ایک رکن اسمبلی اپوزیشن کا کردار ادا کرے گا۔ بلوچستان اسمبلی میں مسلم لیگ(ق) کے کامیاب ارکان اسمبلی نے پیپلزپارٹی کی حمایت کا فیصلہ کیا ہے تاہم سابق وفاقی وزیر یار محمد رند نے اپوزیشن میں بیٹھنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے اور بلوچستان اسمبلی میں وہی اپوزیشن لیڈر بھی ہوں گے۔ ادھر پیر کو بلوچستان اسمبلی کے ارکان نے حلف اٹھایا ۔ سپیکر جمال شاہ کاکڑ نے ان سے حلف لیا ۔ بی این پی کے ارکان صوبائی اسمبلی نے اپنی مادری زبان میں حلف اٹھانے پر اصرار کیا جس پر ان سے بلوچی زبان میں حلف لیا گیا ۔ جبکہ بعض دیگر ارکان اسمبلی سے پشتو زبان میں بھی حلف لیا گیا ۔ حلف برداری کی تقریب کے بعد بے نظیر بھٹو ‘ بالاچ مری اور اکبر بگٹی کے لیے ایصال ثواب کے لیے فاتحہ خوانی کی گئی ۔

معزول ججوں کی بحالی عوامی خواہشات کے مطابق ہوگی : فاروق نائیک

اسلام آباد . . . وفاقی وزیر قانون فاروق ایچ نائیک نے کہا ہے کہ اعلیٰ عدلیہ کے ججوں کی مدت تعیناتی کم کرنے کی کوئی سمری تیار نہیں کی گئی اور معزول ججوں کی بحالی ، عوامی خواہشات کے مطابق ہوگی ۔وزیر قانون نے اسلام آباد میں وکلا کے وفد سے ملاقات کے موقع پر میڈیا سے گفت گو میں کہا کہ اعلی عدلیہ کے ججوں کی مدت کم کرنے کی کسی تجویز پر غور نہیں ہورہا ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ حکمران اتحاد کی تمام جماعتوں کی ایک نمائیندہ پارلے مانی کمیٹی بننی ہے اور یہ کمیٹی ہی ججوں کی بحالی پر قرار داد کی سفارشات بنائے گی ، جنہیں پارلے منٹ میں منظور کیلئے پیش کیا جائے گا۔انہوں نے کا کہنا تھا کہ عدلیہ پر فیصلہ پارلے مان نے ہی کرنا ہے اور اس معاملے کو عوامی خواہشات کے مطابق حل کیا جائے گا ۔وزیر قانون نے لوگوں سے صبر و تحمل کا مظاہرہ کرنے کی اپیل کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ معزول ججوں کی بحالی کا عمل شروع ہوگیا ہے اور امید ہے کہ مسئلہ تیس دنوں کی مدت کے اندر ہی حل کرلیا جائے گا ۔

سابق وزیراعلیٰ سندھ جوتےکانشانہ

ارباب غلام رحیم اسمبلی کے ایوان میں داخل ہوئے تو سپیکر کے عقب کی گیلری میں سے ایک کارکن نے انہیں جوتا اتار کر مارا
سندھ اسمبلی میں پیر کو ہنگامہ آرائی کے دوران پیپلز پارٹی کے رہنما نثار کھوڑو کو سپیکر اور شہلا رضا کو ڈپٹی اسپیکر کے عہدوں پر باضابطہ طور پر کامیاب قرار دے دیا گیا۔
ہنگامہ آرائی کے دوران سابق وزیراعلیٰ ارباب غلام رحیم کو تشدد کا نشانہ بنایا گیا جس کے بعد ایم کیو ایم اور مسلم لیگ فنکشنل نے اجلاس کا بائیکاٹ کردیا۔
صوبائی اسمبلی کی کارروائی جو کہ دس بجے شروع ہونا تھی ڈھائی گھنٹے کی تاخیر سے شروع ہوئی۔ اسمبلی کے پہلے اجلاس میں غیر متعلقہ افراد کے اسمبلی کی گیلریوں میں داخلے اور نعرے بازی کی وجہ سے بہت سےکارڈ منسوخ کیے گئے پھر بھی بڑی تعداد میں پیپلز پارٹی کے کارکن وہاں موجود رہے ۔
پیپلز پارٹی کی قیادت نے لوگوں کو پرسکون رہنے کی تاکید کی مگر وہ خاموش نہیں ہوئے۔ پیپلز پارٹی کے نامزد سپیکر نثار کھوڑو نے بھی مائیک پر کارکنوں سے خاموش رہنے کی اپیل کی اور کہا کہ وہ نعرے نہ لگائیں اور ایوان کے تقدس کو برقرار رکھیں مگر اس کے باوجود نعرے لگتے رہے۔
اس دوران سابق وزیراعلٰی ارباب غلام رحیم جیسے ہی پچھلے دروازے سے ایوان میں داخل ہوئے تو پیپلز پارٹی کے کارکن مشتعل ہوگئے ڈپلومیٹ گیلری سے ایک شخص نے ارباب رحیم کو گالی دیتے ہوئے جوتا کھینچ مارا جو ان کو سینے پر جالگا۔ اس دوران ایوان میں شدید شور و غل شروع ہوگیا جس میں سپیکر نے ان سے حلف لیا۔
روایت کے مطابق صوبائی اسمبلی کے نو منتخب ارکان، سپیکر کے ڈائس پر جا کر دستخط کرتے ہیں لیکن اس کے برعکس ارباب غلام رحیم کی نشست پر رجسٹرلے جا کر ان سے دستخط لیے گئے۔
اسمبلی کا تقدس پامال نہ ہو
پانچ اپریل کے واقعہ کے بعد متحدہ نے دونوں فریقین سے بات کی اور پیپلز پارٹی سے کہا کہ اس طرح کا رویہ اختیار نہیں ہونا چاہیئے اجلاس سے قبل اسپیکر کے کمرے میں میٹنگ بھی ہوئی تھی۔جس میں یہ طے کیا گیا کہ ایسا کوئی عمل نہیں کیا جائیگا جس سے سندھ اسمبلی کا تقدس پامال ہو

ایم کیو ایم کے رکن اسمبلی انور عالم دستخط کرنے کے فوراً بعد وہ ایوان سے باہر نکل گئے مگر مشتعل لوگوں نے جن میں خواتین بھی شامل تھیں، باہر بھی ان کا پیچھا نہ چھوڑا اور ایک کارکن نے دوبارہ ان کو جوتا مارا، وہ تیزی سے گاڑی میں سوار ہوئے اور اسمبلی سے باہر نکل گئے۔
متحدہ قومی موومنٹ کے ارکان نے ارباب غلام رحیم کے ساتھ پیش آنے والےواقعہ کی مذمت کی اور اجلاس سے بائیکاٹ کر کے چلے گئے۔ جس کے بعد اجلاس میں دس منٹ کا وقفہ کیا گیا جو ایک گھنٹے تک جاری رہا۔
بعد میں ایم کیو ایم، مسلم لیگ فنکشنل کی غیر موجودگی میں سید مظفر حسین شاہ نے نثار کھوڑو سے اور نثار کھوڑو نے سیدہ شہلا رضا سے حلف لیا۔ایم کیو ایم کے رکن اسمبلی انور عالم نے صحافیوں سے بات کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ارباب غلام رحیم کے ساتھ جو رویہ اختیا کیا گیا ہے کہ وہ اس کی مذمت کرتے ہیں اور اس لیے اجلاس کا بائیکاٹ کرتے ہیں۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ پانچ اپریل سے یہ رویہ اختیار کیا گیا ہے، جس طرح سے اسمبلی کا تقدس پامال کیا گیا انہوں نے اسے تحمل سے برداشت کیا اور اسمبلی میں رہے۔
انہوں نے بتایا کہ پانچ اپریل کے واقعہ کے بعد متحدہ نے دونوں فریقین سے بات کی اور پیپلز پارٹی سے کہا کہ اس طرح کا رویہ اختیار نہیں ہونا چاہیئے اجلاس سے قبل اسپیکر کے کمرے میں میٹنگ بھی ہوئی تھی۔جس میں یہ طے کیا گیا کہ ایسا کوئی عمل نہیں کیا جائیگا جس سے سندھ اسمبلی کا تقدس پامال ہو۔
جوتا مارنے والا ارباب رحیم کا سابق ملازم ہے
ایوان میں جس شخص نے جوتا مارا ہے وہ چار سال تک ارباب رحیم کا ملازم رہا ہے وہ پیپلز پارٹی کا پرانا کارکن نہیں ہے

حقیقی کے رکن یونس خانانور عالم کا کہنا تھا کہ اراکین اسمبلی کسی قسم کا دنگا فساد دیکھنے کے لیے نہیں آئے بلکہ عوام کے کام کے لیے یہاں آئے ہیں مگر یہاں متحدہ کی خواتین اراکین کے ساتھ بھی غلط سلوک اختیار کیا گیا۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ متحدہ کی رابطہ کمیٹی کے اجلاس میں لائحہ عمل طے کیا جائے گا۔
پیپلز پارٹی کے رکن اسمبلی منظور وسان کا کہنا تھا کہ یہ قابل مذمت واقعہ ہے پیپلز پارٹی ان واقعات کی ہرگز حمایت نہیں کرتی اس سے قبل جب حقیقی کے رکن یونس خان سے اس بارے میں پوچھا گیا توان کا کہنا تھا کہ ایوان میں جس شخص نے جوتا مارا ہے وہ چار سال تک ارباب رحیم کا ملازم رہا ہے وہ پیپلز پارٹی کا پرانا کارکن نہیں ہے۔ہوسکتا ہے کہ کچھ سازشی عناصر سے پیپلز پارٹی کو بدنام کرنے کی سازش کی گئی ہو۔

According to reports, the couple has been quoting astronomical prices to give joint endorsements. Rumour has it that Abhishek's deal with LG was called off when he insisted on joint endorsement and asked for way too much. The title of the hottest couple on the circuit, however, would go to Saif and Kareena. According to a media report, companies are willing to offer over Rs.100 million per ad for the duo to make joint endorsement.Saif, who makes a neat Rs.360 million a year from his 12 endorsements, and Kareena, who represents five brands, have been approached to appear together by five companies. Perhaps, Saif and Kareena want to take their time and not go the John Abraham-Bipasha Basu way. The real-life couple had to do a lot of explaining when they decided to end their joint endorsement for a hair shampoo. New Delhi: Kajol is a director's delight, says Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan of his talented wife whom he has cast in his directorial debut "U, Me Aur Hum".
"Very few actresses can perform like her. Doesn't every director want to work with Kajol?" Ajay told IANS."Working with her is a delight. When a writer writes his book, he uses words to express himself and when a director makes a film, actors like her help convey the message rightly," added Devgan, who was in the capital Saturday to promote his upcoming film.The actor denies he would only select Kajol for his future projects. "Taking her in my first film doesn't mean that I would only work with her. Casting depends on who suits the role most, and for this character she fitted the bill."Apart from Ajay and Kajol, the movie also stars Divya Dutta, Karan Khanna, Isha Sharvani and Sumeet Raghavan. It narrates the story of three couples and how the successful marriage of one couple helps mend another's relationship and how the third is urged to tie the knot."I have not tried to make a pseudo intellectual film, instead a commercial one. THE DIVA has landed this week Mariah Carey arrived in the UK to promote her new album. She has the reputation for being one of the most demanding A-listers ever. She herself admits: 'I guess I am a diva in many ways. I can be difficult and a little bit rigid about what I want.' But then, amazingly, she says: 'I don't think I'm demanding enough.' But, as David Thomas reveals, it's hard to imagine just how much more demanding Mariah could possibly be.
When signing autographs this week at Selfridges department store, Mariah demanded a 50,000 antique table, covered with silk cloth, to scribble upon, flown in from New York. She sat on a 1,000 throne and was surrounded by roses and butterflies.
Having stayed out until 3am at celebrity restaurant San Lorenzo, in Knightsbridge, Mariah cancelled an interview on London's Capital Radio Breakfast Show because 'she's not a morning person'. She then rescheduled a BBC Radio 1 interview because there were problems getting her four-car convoy to the studio from Claridge's hotel, less than half a mile away.
She insisted on having a 10,000 gym installed next to her penthouse suite at Claridge's. It was also rumoured she was bringing 100 pairs of shoes with her on the trip. She booked every penthouse suite in the hotel to ensure her absolute privacy and comfort.She has a 15-strong entourage with her, including bodyguards, stylists, hairdressers, publicists and managers.
Perhaps Mariah's single greatest moment of diva madness came when she checked into London's Baglioni Hotel in 2005.
At 2am, a team of her minions arrived to check that everything was ready for their mistress's arrival. She, meanwhile, was driven around in her limo, until the hotel had rolled out a red carpet, lined with white candles, for her to make her entrance.
The hotel management was happy to oblige. Mariah was renting 15 rooms at a cost of 20,000 a night small change to Mariah, who's worth an estimated 125 million.
When accepting her role in the upcoming film Tennessee, an independent, low-budget production, Mariah was told budgetary constraints meant she would have to travel to the location on an economy-class air ticket, rather than her usual first class or private jet. Mariah agreed, then bought every single economy seat on her flight, and travelled alone in the cabin.
Mariah has a steamy time in the bedroom but it's got nothing to do with her sex-life. As part of her obsessive campaign to preserve her all-important vocal cords, she insists on maintaining rainforest levels of humidity.
'I'll have 20 humidifiers around the bed,' Mariah reveals. 'Basically, it's like sleeping in a steam room. The bed is all towelling cloth, the ceiling is sloped so the water can't fall on my head, and it drips down to my side. My TV is behind glass.'
She insists on wearing high heels at all times, and has even been filmed in her stilettos while using her home-gym equipment. 'I can't wear flat shoes,' she sighs. 'My feet repel them.'
Mariah turned 38 on March 27 this year, but she refuses to acknowledge her birthdays or advancing age. 'Honestly, I don't even have birthdays. I call them anniversaries. It really is about how young you feel,' she claims.
'I'm eternally 12. And that 12-year- old inside me is an eternal optimist.'
Mariah used to insist on flying her Jack Russell terrier, Jack, in a firstclass seat, until he grew too big. Now he either goes by private jet 'Jack lives on a private jet,' twitters Mariah or by chauffeur-driven Mercedes. She has been known to have him driven the full 2,461 miles between her homes in Los Angeles and New York.
She has been known to have her restaurant table surrounded by up to 11 bodyguards so that other diners cannot see her eat.
In Paris last week, she arrived almost three hours late for a Press conference, by which time most of the media had given up and left. Mariah then stayed for less than 30 minutes.
Indeed, her tardiness is legendary. She once arrived 90 minutes late for the Capital Radio awards because she had broken a fingernail.
At the Save The Music benefit show last September, organisers built an hour's delay into their schedule specifically to allow for Mariah's lax timekeeping.
Mariah refuses to speak to anyone for two days before a concert, communicating only through notes. She recently remarked that she wanted a voice machine like Stephen Hawking's to save herself the trouble of writing.
She only consumes soft drinks through a straw and insists on these being available whenever she makes a personal appearance. She even has people to hold her drink as she sips.
Mariah recently slimmed down from a well-rounded size 14 to a skinny 6. She insisted on flying her personal fitness trainer Patricia to New York for their exercise sessions. 'Patricia lives in St Barts, poor girl,' Mariah explained. 'People say to me: "Only you would fly someone from St Barts in the Caribbean to New York to work out."'
When married to Tommy Mottola, former boss of Sony records, she lived in a 12-bedroom mansion with its own ballroom, firing range, helipad and two swimming pools.
While making the video for her recent single Shake It Off, Mariah insisted on being carried around the set because her teetering shoes had left her tender tootsies in pain. 'I was in agony,' she huffed afterwards. 'My high heels had left my feet bleeding. Laugh all you want, my feet hurt.'
Mariah owns a 12,000 square-foot, three-storey apartment in New York's trendy Tribeca district. She proudly insists: 'If anyone ever buys this place, they had better be a diva or they can't live here.'
There is a Roman-style chaise longue in the dark-green marble kitchen, 'because I like to recline when I eat'. Mariah's bathroom has a gold ceiling and pink and beige satin drapes. Steps lead up to the bath.
Mariah has four giant, walkin closets, including one just for her lingerie and another for her shoes. The biggest of all, which contains four mobile wardrobes, is big enough to be used as a fitting-room for Mariah and her team of stylists. 'The closets are a big part of my life. It sounds obsessive but they are pretty fabulous,' she swoons.

China, NZealand sign free trade pact

BEIJING - New Zealand signed a free-trade agreement with China on Monday, making it the first developed economy to enter such a pact with the Asian giant, officials said.
The agreement, which will eventually all but eliminate tariffs between the two nations, will also have positive effects in other areas, said New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark, who attended the signing ceremony in Beijing.
“The FTA... promotes co-operation in a broad range of economic areas, and also provides a platform for further engagement at the governmental, cultural, and people-to-people levels,” she said in a statement.
The agreement came after 15 rounds of negotiations stretching back nearly four years and despite some criticism of Clark for pushing ahead with the pact during China’s crackdown on unrest in Tibet.
“It was with a great sense of ambition that we embarked on this particular phase of the relationship,” Clark told her Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People.
Wen called it “a historic day,” arguing the agreement will ”deliver tangible benefits to both our countries.”
New Zealand has committed itself to abolishing all tariffs imposed on imports from China by January 1, 2016, the Chinese ministry of commerce said on its website.
China will scrap tariffs on 97.2 percent of imports from New Zealand by January 1, 2019, according to the commerce ministry.
When the deal comes into force, tariffs for 63.6 percent of products imported to New Zealand from China and 24.3 percent of imports into China from New Zealand will be cut to zero, the ministry said.
These forecasts were based on the assumption that the agreement would enter into force in 2008, a ministry official told AFP.
“It is expected to take effect within this year, but it depends on how long preparations in both countries will take,” said the official, who asked not to be named.
New Zealand Trade Minister Phil Goff, who is travelling with Clark, emphasised the historic nature of the agreement.
“Being the first developed country to sign a comprehensive FTA with China is an enormous achievement for New Zealand,” he said.
“By reducing barriers to trade in goods, services and investment in China, the FTA will give New Zealand businesses a distinct advantage over competitors into that market.”
Two-way trade between the two nations hit 7.5 billion New Zealand dollars (5.9 billion dollars) in 2007, according to official estimates from Auckland, although the final data have not yet been released.
With the new deal, bilateral trade is expected to grow in the coming years, government officials said.
New Zealand has a history of firsts when it comes to economic relations with China. It was the first nation to conclude a bilateral WTO accession agreement with China and the first to recognise its market economy status.
Clark led a delegation of 150 business and government representatives to Beijing for the signing ceremony, the New Zealand Press Association said.
Business groups in New Zealand welcomed the conclusion of the deal.
“Following the free-trade agreement, the potential will exist for China to become our biggest customer,” said Phil O’Reilly, chief executive of Business New Zealand, a business-advocacy organisation.
But some minor political parties and a large section of the public oppose the deal, partly because of human rights concerns as well as fears that New Zealand businesses could be hurt by rising Chinese imports.
The New Zealand Green Party said New Zealand should not be signing a deal amid the Chinese crackdown on unrest in Tibet.
“The Greens think it is completely inappropriate for New Zealand to be signing a free-trade agreement in Beijing today when Tibetans are being shot down in the streets,” Greens foreign affairs spokesman Keith Locke said.
The United Future Party leader Peter Dunne said he had turned down his place on the trip in protest over China’s treatment of the Tibetan people.
But Clark said that while New Zealand had a difference of opinion with China on human rights issues, that was not “standing in the way of New Zealand having a broad-based relationship with China.”
