Rehman Malik, Afghan President discuss security situation







KABUL : Advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik Sunday discussed the security situation on international border of two countries with Afghan President Hamid Karzai. To improve the security situation, restoration/installation of Border Biometrics Control System was emphasized in the meeting, said a press release.
President Hamid Karzai agreed to the proposal of its installation on both sides. The meeting was held in an extremely cordial atmosphere. The Advisor conveyed best wishes of Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Co-Chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari.
The Advisor also explained the deployment of Pakistan’s security forces on the border and also raised the issue of repatriation of Afghan refugees.
Later, the Advisor held a bilateral meeting with Afghan Interior Minister Zarar Ahmad Muqbal.
The two sides agreed to task the technical teams on both sides to meet and finalize the installation. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
Both sides agreed to extend full support to each other to improve security environment and bring peace in the region.
Both sides also agreed to appoint focal persons, Additional Secretary Ministry of Interior, Pakistan and Deputy Minister, Afghanistan for prompt communication and resolution of security issues.
