Priyanka Chopra steps down?

Actor Priyanka Chopra may have boosted her career with some good films and great choices – Andaaz, Krrish, Aitraaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi , Don ... But the girl seems to be missing from the marquee these days. And while her contemporaries like Lara Dutta are picking up speed in the race, the question is: Will Priyanka be able to protect her lead and maintain being the forerunner in a competition where the likes of Kareena, Katrina and Deepika have found ground and upped their pace? While Pretty Chopra is seeing endorsing products and being constantly linked with cricketers, the lady is missing from the big screen. "Most of my films releaseonly this year, and then there are some that release next year," informs the actress. "I've been busy shooting!" she justifies. Priyanka looks forward to the release of the futuristic Love Story 2050 – a film that'll mark the debut of her boyfriend Harman Baweja, and Drona, where she plays Abhishek's bodyguard. "I'm trying to do different interesting roles," she tells us. "While 2050 is futuristic, Drona is set in a period backdrop. It was interesting doing stunts for it." About her absence from the big screen, the lady isn't perturbed. "Everybody has their time. Sometimes it happens that there are unforeseen situations and the release of your films gets delayed, and then there are times when you have a rush of releases. So it's all part of the game!" About her films in the pipeline, Chopra informs us, "Besides Drona and Love Story 2050 , there is God Tussi Great Ho with Sanjay Dutt, Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion, Karan Johar's Dostana and Feroz Khan's Kurbani." Now, that's an impressive fare! Let's hope it's not too long before we see this pretty dish swish and swirl on celluloid.

Mischa’s trying to get fit again

The former OC star – who was recently pictured with cellulite on her thighs while wearing shorts and a sweatshirt in LA – has employed the fitness professional to help boost her energy levels. She said, “I never had a workout regime at all, but recently I have hired a personal trainer because I feel my energy level is better when I am working out. It helps to be very healthy and fit in this job.” Mischa also said despite being renowned for her unique sense of style, she was bullied at school for dressing badly.

Olympic torch relay starts amid heavy security in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistani leg of the Olympic global torch relay started on Wednesday, guarded by thousands of troops and police to ward off any militant threat or anti-China protest.
The ceremony took place behind closed doors at Jinnah sports stadium in Islamabad after organisers slashed the planned route through the capital at the last minute, citing security concerns.
The flame was brought on a traditional horse-driven chariot escorted by mounted bodyguards of Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. The army band played to herald the arrival of the torch.
The lantern carrying the flame did a round of the stadium and was shown to the crowd before it was presented to Musharraf and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani
Both Musharraf and Gilani held the torch together as the authorities released balloons to the popular tunes.
The flame was handed to Pakistani field hockey hero Samiullah, the first of around 60 runners to begin the event, watched by several thousand hand-picked guests.
The heavy security in Islamabad comes as Pakistan tries to protect China, its closest ally, from further embarrassment at the hands of pro-Tibet and human rights demonstrators.
The flame will travel from Pakistan to India later Wednesday for one of the most sensitive stretches of its global voyage. India is home to more than 100,000 Tibetan refugees, many of them organised and media savvy.
Former squash star Jahangir Khan is set to light the cauldron at the end of the relay, Pakistani sources said.
The original plan was to parade the torch from the white marble presidency building and along Islamabad’s leafy main boulevard, but the entire event will now be held behind closed doors at the arena.

Nawaz, Shahbaz, Hamza get nomination papers for bye-election

LAHORE : PML-N Chief and former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz got nomination papers to participate in the coming bye-elections, here on Wednesday. Mian Nawaz Sharif got the nomination papers from the Returning Officer (RO) to contest the by-polls from the constituency NA-123 Lahore while Mian Shahbaz Sharif for PP-154 Lahore.
Hamza Shahbaz Sharif got nomination papers to participate in by-elections from PP-141 Lahore.
Mian Ikhlaq Guddoo of PML-Q also got nomination papers to take part in by-election from NA-123.
The RO of the constituencies NA-119,PP-141 issued total five nomination papers including Hamza Shahbaz while RO for NA-123 issued six nomination papers including Nawaz Sharif.
Eight intending candidates including Shahbaz Sharif got nomination papers on Wednesday to contest the bye-polls from PP-154 .

Govt. to adopt more measures to ensure freedom of media: Sherry

ISLAMABAD : Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ms. Sherry Rehman Wednesday said the government has already tabled a Bill in the National Assembly to remove black media laws and it would adopt more measures to ensure freedom of media. She was talking to a delegation of Cable Operators Association of Pakistan that called on the Minister under the leadership of Chairman of the Association, Khalid Sheikh here.
“The cable operators are the main source to disseminate information to the public and the new democratic government would not allow any one to block the cable TV operations in the country,” she said.
The Minister reiterated that the government believes in the freedom of information and public access to information, therefore, no one will be allowed to disrupt the free flow of information.
“A hotline service would be set up at Ministry of Information where cable operators would register their complaints of any external pressure for blocking their system or a particular TV channel,” the Minister said and added this would help ensure smooth running of the cable TV network in the country.
The members of the delegation appreciated the vision of the government for freedom of media and apprised the Minister of their problems.
The Minister assured the delegation to look into their problems.
With a view to providing a balanced coverage to the opposition’s point of view as well as the treasury benches in the parliament, Sherry Rehman directed the PTV management to ensure that the state television acts as a prime source of information to the electorate that have sent their representatives to the parliament.
“There must be no-black out of opposition as was the case during the previous regime,” the Minister said and added free clean feed of the coverage of the parliament session will be provided to the private TV channels by PTV.
Sherry Rehman also reiterated the democratic government’s resolve that media would be given access to the meetings of the parliament’s standing committees and arrangements will be made for live coverage of these meetings.

Reconciliation policy to continue: Gillni

LAHORE : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said Wednesday that PPP would continue to pursue the policy of reconciliation as it wanted to take along all political parties. He was talking to the media persons after meeting the PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif at his residence at Raiwind.Asked whether the process of talks for reconciliation with the MQM was over, he said, “There are ups and downs in politics, but the policy to seek reconciliation will continue.”Mian Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Dost Muhammad Khosa, Zulfiqar Khosa, Hussain Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz were also present on the occasion.
To a question, the Prime Minister said that decisions on all issues would be taken in consultation with the coalition partners.
Regarding the recent demonstration in Multan, he said, “The power and flour crises are the result of the wrong policies of the previous regime, and the present government will overcome all these problems with the cooperation of the masses.”
He said miscreants were involved in the incidents in Multan who wanted to divert people’s attention from the real issues, adding that they probably targeted Multan as the Prime Minister is from there.
Gilani urged people to remain peaceful to foil the evil designs of such elements and ensure peace in the country which was vital for economic development.
To a question about the future of President Pervez Musharraf, he said, “The decision in this regard will be taken according to the constitution”.
Regarding reinstatement of the deposed judges, he said, “We are committed to take steps in this regard as per the Bhurban Declaration”.
To another question, the PM said, “I have come here to meet Mian Nawaz Sharif, and have a close association with him since long. When he was the finance minister of Punjab, I was chairman District Council Multan, and we enjoyed a good relationship”.

یہ مارچ2003ءکا واقعہ ہے، راولپنڈی میں فوجی افسروں کے رہائشی علاقہ ویسٹریج کے ایک گھر سے ایک عرب باشندہ گرفتار ہوا، یہ گھر ایک کیپٹن کا تھا جو اس وقت کوہاٹ میں ڈیوٹی پر تھااور جسے وہیں پر حراست میں لے لیا گیا تھا۔ حکومت کا دعویٰ تھا کہ یہ عرب باشندہ خالد شیخ محمد ہے جو امریکہ کے نزدیک اسامہ بن لادن کا نمبر ٹو تھا اور اس کی وانٹڈ لسٹ میں ٹاپ پر تھا، حکومت کا یہ دعویٰ درست نکلا کیونکہ امریکہ نے اسے خالد شیخ محمد کے نام سے شناخت کر لیا، یہ بات بتانے والی نہیں کہ حکومت پاکستان نے حوالگی کے قانون اور طرےقہ کار کی خلاف ورزی کرتے ہوئے اسے پہلی فرصت میں امریکہ کے حوالے کر دیا جہاں اس پر مقدمہ چلا مارچ2007مےں توقعات کے عےن مطابق خالد شےخ محمد نائن الےون سمےت اور بھی بہت سے گناہ قبول کر لئے 11فروری 2008 کو اس پر جنگی جرائم اور قتل وغارت سمےت مختلف سنگےن فرد ہائے جرم عائد کر دی گئےں جن پر اسے سزائے موت ہونا ےقےنی ہے ۔ امریکی چارج شیٹ کے مطابق نائن الیون کےلئے طیارے اغواءکر کے (ٹوئن ٹاورز)(نیویارک) اور پینٹاگون(امرےکی وزارت دفاع)کو نشانہ بنانے کی ساری پلاننگ خالد شیخ محمد نے کی تھی، اس تمہید سے Èپ کو بخوبی اندازہ ہو گیا ہو گا کہ خالد شیخ محمد کتنا اہم Èدمی تھا اور نائن الیون سے اب تک امریکہ سے افغانستان اور پاکستان تک جاری دہشتگردی اور دہشتگردی کے خلاف جنگ میں اس کا کردار کتنا بڑا تھا۔ خالد شیخ محمد ےکم مارچ کو آئی اےس آئی اور سی آئی اے کے مشترکہ آپرےشن مےں ہاتھ آےا ۔اس کی گرفتاری کے چند روز بعد میں راولپنڈی کے صحافیوں رسالت فاضل عباسی اور Èصف شبیر کے ہمراہ اس گھر گیا جہاں سے خالد شیخ محمد گرفتار ہوا، جب ہم وہاں پہنچے تو میرے ذہن میں بار بار یہ سوال کلبلا رہا تھا کہ اتنا بڑا ”ہدف“ یہاں سے پکڑا گیا ہے؟چلتے وقت میرا خیال تھا جب ہم ویسٹریج میں داخل ہوں گے تو وہاں فوج اور ایجنسیوں کے لوگوں کی بھاری نفری پوزیشنیں سنبھالے ہو گی، ہمیں جگہ جگہ روک کر شناخت طلب کی جائے گی۔ شناخت تو دور کی بات ہمیں ادھر پھٹکنے ہی نہیں دیا جائے گا اور واپس بھیج دیا جائے گا اور جب ہم جیسے تیسے کر کے اس گھر پہنچیں گے تو وہاں مسلح کمانڈوز الرٹ کھڑے ہوں گے اور اہل خانہ ایک کمرے میں بند ڈرے سہمے بیٹھے ہوں گے جہاں سیکیورٹی حکام کی موجودگی ہی میں ملاقات ہو سکے گی اور ایسی صورت میں ہم کیا پوچھیں گے اور وہ کیا بتا سکیں گے؟ مگر حیرت انگیز طور پر ایسا کچھ نہیں ہوا، ہم ویسٹریج پہنچے تو دور نزدیک کوئی غیر معمولی بات دیکھنے میں نہیں Èئی، ہم مختلف گلیوں سے ہوتے ہوئے سیدھے اس گھر تک پہنچ گئے اور راستے میں کہیں کوئی سیکیورٹی اہلکار نظر Èیا نہ کسی نے ہماری طرف نظر اٹھا کر بھی دیکھا، گھر کے اندر باہر بھی کوئی ایجنسی والا یا کمانڈو نہیں تھا۔ ہم نے بیل بجائی، ایک بزرگ نے دروازہ کھولا جو گھر کے سربراہ تھے۔ سلام دعا کے بعد وہ ہمیں اندر لے گئے، ڈرائنگ روم میں ہماری تقریباً ایک گھنٹہ تک ایسے بات چیت ہوئی جیسے بالکل نارمل حالات میں کسی کے گھر کوئی مہمان Èتا ہے اور میزبان سے مل کر چلا جاتا ہے، اس ایک گھنٹے کے دوران ہمیں گھر کے ماحول سے، گھر والوں کی کسی بات سے کسی انداز سے یہ محسوس نہیں ہوا کہ کچھ روز پہلے یہاں سے وہ Èدمی برÈمد ہوا ہے جس نے اپنی پلاننگ سے دنیا بدل کر رکھ دی تھی۔ وہاں سے واپسی کے بعد سے Èج 5برس بعد تک مجھے ان سوالوں کا جواب نہیں مل سکا کہ اتنے بڑے ”ٹارگٹ“ کی برÈمدگی پر اس گھر کے Èس پاس غیر معمولی انتظامات کیوں نہیں تھے؟اس گھر کے باسی روٹین کی طرح کےوں کر رہ رہے تھے؟انہیں اول تو زیر حراست ہونا چاہئے تھا یا زیر نگرانی اور کم از کم یہ نہیں ہونا چاہئے تھا کہ گرفتاری کے چند روز بعد ہی وہ نارمل زندگی گزار رہے ہوں یہاں تک کہ میڈیا سے ملاقاتیں بھی کر رہے ہوں۔ 11ستمبر2001ءکو جب ٹوئن ٹاورز اور پینٹاگون کو نشانہ بنایا گیا تو امریکہ نے تحقیقات سے پہلے ہی اس کا الزام اسامہ بن لادن پر عائد کر دیا جو اس وقت افغانستان میں تھے، ساتھ ہی القاعدہ کا نام بھی سامنے È گیا کہ یہ کارروائی اسی تنظیم نے کی ہے اور اسی کی Èڑ لے کر امریکہ بہادر مسلمان ملکوں پر حملہ Èور ہو گیا، ”القاعدہ“ کا نام دنیا بھر میں دہشت کی علامت بن گیا اور امریکہ نے اس کے خاتمے کیلئے دہشتگردی کے خلاف جنگ چھیڑ دی جو Èج بھی جاری ہے اور نہ جانے کب تک رہے گی کیونکہ جن لوگوں کوالقاعدہ کے کرتادھرتا قرار دیا جاتا ہے ان میں سے کوئی بھی امریکہ کے ہاتھ نہیں È سکا، اسامہ بن لادن اور ایمن الظواہری Èج بھی کسی نامعلوم مقام پر موجود ہیں جبکہ ملاعمر جو اسامہ کے میزبان تھے ان کا بھی پتہ ٹھکانہ کوئی نہیں جانتا، ان تینوں حضرات کو امریکہ اور مغربی ممالک کا دشمن نمبر ایک مانا جاتا ہے۔ ان تینوں کا مقصد دنیا میں اسلام کا غلبہ اور امریکہ سمیت تمام اسلام دشمن قوتوں کا مکمل خاتمہ ہے جیسا کہ ان کے Èڈیو، ویڈیو پیغامات Èتے رہتے ہیں۔ ملا عمر افغانستان میں مکمل اسلامی ریاست قائم کرنا چاہتے تھے، یعنی یہ تینوں ہستیاں صرف اور صرف اپنے دین کی خاطر جانیں ہتھیلی پر رکھ کر وقت کی طاقتوں سے ٹکرا رہی ہیں مگر دین تو تب تک مکمل ہی نہیں ہوتا، ایمان تب تک کامل ہی نہیں ہوتا جب تک نبی Èخر الزماں حضرت محمد کی محبت ہمارے دلوں میں موجےں نہ ماررہی ہو اور ناموس رسالت کی خاطر کٹ مرنے ےا ماردےنے کا حوصلہ اور ہمت ہمارے اندر نہ ہو ۔ ہم دیکھتے ہیں کہ امریکہ اور اس کے اتحادی کئی برس سے عراق اور افغانستان میں دندنا رہے ہیں اور اب تو پاکستان کے قبائلی علاقوں میں بھی گھس Èئے ہیں۔ عراق میں صدام حسین کی بڑی اور مضبوط فوج ریت کی دیوار ثابت ہوئی اور اور افغانستان میں طالبان حکومت کا تورا بورا بنا دیا گیا۔ ان گزرے برسوں میں بش سے لے کر بُوچر تک تقریبا ً تمام اعلیٰ امریکی حکام نے کئی کئی بار عراق اور افغانستان کے دورے کئے مگر کیا یہ بات بہت حیرت انگیز نہیں کہ نہ تو امریکی و اتحادی فوجوں کے خلاف کوئی بڑی کارروائی ہو سکی، نہ اعلیٰ امریکی و دیگر حکام ہی کو نشانہ بنایا جا سکا۔ سوال یہ ہے کہ جو القاعدہ وقت کی سپر پاور کے اندر جا کر اس کے اقتصادی اور جنگی مراکز کو نیست و نابود کر سکتی ہے وہ القاعدہ اس وقت کیوں ناکام ہو گئی جب دشمن خود چل کر اپنے گھر سے ہزاروں مےل دور القاعدہ کے علاقوں میں È پہنچا۔ اور سوال ےہ بھی ہے کہ جو القاعدہ اللہ کے دےن کی خاطر جہاد کا علم بلند کرتے ہوئے دنےا کی سپر طاقتوں سے ٹکر لے رہی ہے وہ القاعدہ اللہ کے محبوب ترےن نبی حضرت محمد کی شان مےں گستاخی کرنے والوں کو جہنم واصل کر نے کے لئے اپنے وسائل کےوں استعمال نہےں کرتی؟ کےوں اےک نہتے عامر چےمہ کو ےہ بےڑا اٹھانا پڑتا ہے اور نذےر چےمہ کے اکلوتے فرزند کو اپنی جان گنوانا پڑتی ہے ؟ نائن الےون والی القاعدہ اگر ہے تو سلمان رشدی اور تسلےمہ نسرےن کےوں زندہ ہےں؟ ڈنمارک کے کارٹونسٹ اور ہالےنڈ کے فلمساز کےوں اہل اےمان کامنہ چڑاتے پھر رہے ہےں؟ جبکہ ان کو جہنم رسےد کرنے کے لئے نائن الےون جےسی عظےم منصوبہ بندی کی ضرورت بھی نہےں؟ القاعدہ کہاں ہے اور کہاں ہےں اسامہ بن لادن،اےمن الظواہری اور ملاعمر؟

سندھ پولیس کی تنخواہ اور دیگر مراعات میں اضافے کا اعلان

کراچی. ..وزیر داخلہ سندھ ذوالفقار مرزااور آئی جی سندھ شعیب سڈل نے مشترکہ پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہو ئے سندھ پولیس کی تنخواہ اور دیگر مراعات میں اضافے کا اعلان کیا اورکہا کہ پورے سندھ اور خصوصاًکراچی میں چوری ڈکیتی، موبائل ،گاڑیاں چھینے جانے کی وارداتیں اور دیگر اسٹریٹ کرائم کی تعداد خطرناک حد تک پہنچ گئی ہے ان سب کا خاتمہ ہماری ترجیح ہے۔انہوں نے صحافیوں کو مخاطب کرتے ہو ئے کہا کہ ان وارداتوں سے آپ لوگ بھی متاثر ہو تے ہوں گے۔بے روز گاری ان چیزوں کا اہم سبب ہے اس بارے میں ایک جامع حکمت عملی طے کی جا رہی ہے جسے عنقریب پیش کیا جائے گا اور بے روز گاری کے تناسب کو کیا جائے گا۔ ہمیں اس صورت حال کو بہتر کرنا ہے ان حالات کو کنٹرول کرنا ہو گا۔جن کو حکمت عملی سے ختم کیا جاسکتا ہے ان ہی حالات کے پیش نظرپولیس سمیت دیگر جگہوں پر اہل افسروں اور اہلکاروں کو متعین کیا جارہا ہے۔ان کا کہنا تھا کہ سندھ میں پولیس تعداد کی بہت زیادہ کمی ہے جس کو بہتر بنایا جائے لیکن ان حالات میں بھی مخلص ہو کر کام کیا جائے تو صورت حال کو قابو کیا جاسکتا ہے ۔انہوں نے لندن پولیس کی مثال دیتے ہو ئے کہا کہ لندن میں 150افراد پر ایک پولیس اہلکار متعین ہے جبکہ ہمارے ہاں یہ تعداد 550افراد کو کنٹرول کرنے کے لئے ایک پولیس اہلکار متعین ہو تا ہے۔وزیر داخلہ نے اس موقع پر کہا کہ سندھ پولیس کے کانسٹیبل کو پنجاب پولیس کے کانسٹیبل کے برابر تنخواہ دین گے اور یہ فرق ساڑھے3ہزار روپے کا ہے صورت حاکی بہتری کی صورت میں اس تنخواہ میں اضافہ بھی کیا جائے گا ۔اسی طرح خدا ناخواستہ کسی واقعے میں پولیس اہلکار کے جاں بحق ہو نے کی صورت میں پنجاب پولیس کی طرح5لاکھ روپے دئے جائیں گے جو اس سے قبل3لاکھ روپے تھے ۔ انہوں نے کہا اس کے علاوہ بیوہ یا اہل خانہ کو اس کی ریٹائر منٹ کی عمر تک تنخواہ بھی دی جاتی رہے گی۔

کراچی . سابق وزیراعلیٰ سندھ اور مسلم لیگ کے رہنماء ڈاکٹر ارباب غلام رحیم نے کہا ہے کہ ملک میں لاقانونیت بڑھتی جارہی ہے، عوام خود اسکا جائزہ لیں، میرے خلاف ڈھونڈ ڈھونڈ کر مقدمات بنائے جارہے ہیں،انھوں نے یہ باتیں پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہیں،انھوں نے الزام عائد کیا کہ میرے قتل کے لیے قاتل کو رقم بھی ادا کی جاچکی ہے،اگر مجھے کچھ بھی ہوا تو پی پی کے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری اور سندھ کے وزیرداخلہ ذوالفقار مرزا کے خلاف مقدمہ درج کیا جائے۔ارباب رحیم نے کہا کہ میرا نام ایگزٹ کنٹرول لسٹ میں ڈالا گیا ہے حالانکہ حکومت کبھی کہتی ہے کہ ای سی ایل ختم کردیا گیا ہے پتہ نہیں حقیقت کیا ہے۔

اسلام آباد ( ایسوسی ایٹڈ پریس سروس ) نائب صدر قومی تاجر اتحاد و جنرل سیکرٹری ٹریڈرز ویلفییر ایسوسی ایشن بلیو ایریا ملک سہیل حسین نے جنرل باڈی کے اجلاس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے اس عزم کا اعادہ کیاکہ تاجر اپنی صفوں میں اتحاد کا مظاہرہ کر کے بلیو ایریا کی مارکیٹ کو پاکستان کی سب سے خوبصورت اور سہولتوں سے مزین مارکیٹ بنایا جا سکتا ہے اور موجودہ وفاقی وزیر پانی و بجلی راجہ پرویز اشرف بطور تاجر لوڈ شیڈنگ کا مسلئہ ختم کر دیں گے انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ بلیو ایریا کی تاجر برادری کو اسلام آباد چیمبر فیڈ ریشن چیمبر اور قومی تاجر اتحاد میںاور مصالحتی کمیٹیوں میں نمائندگی ملی ہے اور گذشتہ تین سالوں میں صدر بلیو ایریا ٹریڈرز ویلفییر ایسوسی ایشن ظفر بختاروی کی سربراہی میں چیرمین سی ڈی اے،آئیسکو ،چیف کمشنر،جی ایم نادرن سوئی گیس،انکم ٹیکس کے ممبران کو مدعو کر کے تاجروں کے بہت سے مسائل حل کروائے اور عنقریب قانونِ کرایہ داری کا مسلئہ جلد حل ہو جائے گا اور تاجروں کو جلد یہ خوشخبری سنائی دی جائے گی۔پارکنگ اور صفائی کے مسائل حل کرانے پر بھر پور توجہ دی جائے گی۔بلیو ایریا ٹریڈرز ویلفیرز ایسوسی ایشن کے صدر ظفر بختاوری نے اپنے خطاب میں کہا کہ آئندہ انتحاب میں وہ کسی عہدے کے امیدوار نہیں ہوں گے اور ایک کارکن کی حیثیت سے خدمت کرتے رہیں گے۔ان کا مقصد تاجروں کی عزت کو بحال کروانا ہے کیونکہ تاجروں کو وہ عزت نہیں دی گی ہے اور یہ برداشت نہیں کیا جائے گاکہ پولیس یا سی ڈی اے کے اہلکاران تاجروں کو کاروبار سے اٹھا کر لے جائیں۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ نائن الیون کے بعد جس طرح بیرونی سرمایہ کاری پاکستان آئی اس حساب سے خوشحالی نہیں ہوئی اور ہم سب کو اس ملک کے خلاف سازشوں کو ناکام بنانے کے لیے ایک تاجر کی حیثیت سے اپنا حصہ ادا کرنا ہوگاکیونکہ تجارت ایک مقدس پیشہ ہے اور تاجر معیشت کے فروغ کے لیے ریڑھ کی ہڈی کا کردار ادا کرتے ہیں۔اجلاس میں چیرمین الیکشن کمیشن حاجی امتیاز نے تاجروں کی درخواست پر الیکشن کی تاریخ میں توسیع کرتے ہوئے اسے24 اپریل تک کرانے کا اعلان کیااور کہا کہ کاغذات جمع کرانے کی تاریخ 19اپریل ہے۔اجلاس میںپاکستان کمپیوٹرز ایسوسی ایشن کے صدر اور اسلام آباد چیمبر کے سینئر نائب صدر منور اقبال نے شرکت کی اور اپنے بھر پور تعاون کی یقین دہانی کرائی قومی تاجر اتحاد کے نائب صدر اور جنرل سیکرٹری ٹریڈرز ویلفیرز ایسوسی ایشن ملک سہیل حسین نے بلیو ایریا کے تاجروں شوکت عباسی ، ساجد عباسی ،اسد رشد ،سید امین پیرزادہ،اقبال ماجد ، شیخ بلال احمد، اور صابر کاظمی کی خدمات کو سراہا۔

سیاسی جماعتوں کی مشاورت سے آزاد خود مختار الیکشن کمیشن بنایا جائے ۔یورپی یونین الیکشن آبزرور رپورٹ کی سفارشات

چیف الیکشن آبزرور مائیکل گیلز کا اسلام آباد میں سیاسی جماعتوں کے ساتھ سفارشات پر تبادلہ خیالانتخابی فہرستیں صاف شفاف بنانے اور انتخابات میں تمام سیاسی جماعتوں کو مساوی مواقع دیئے جانے پر اتفاق ،12 اکتوبر 1999 ء کے فوجی اقدام کے خلاف یورپی یونین کے موقف پر ملاقات میں اس کا شکریہ ادا کیا ‘ راجہ ظفر الحق

اسلام آباد ۔ یورپی یونین کے الیکشن آبزرور نے 18 فروری کے عام انتخابات کے حوالے سے اپنی مبصر رپورٹ میں حکومت پاکستان کو سیاسی جماعتوں کی باہمی مشاورت سے آزاد و خود مختار الیکشن کمیشن کے قیام اور انتخابی فہرستیں صاف شُاف بنانے کی سفارشات کو شامل کیا ہے ۔ بدھ کو اسلام آباد میں پاکستان کے دورے پر آئے ہوئے یورپی یونین کے چیف الیکشن آبزرور مائیکل گیلز نے اپنے وفد کے ہمراہ ملک کی حکومت و اپوزیشن جماعتوں کے راہنماؤں سے مشترکہ ملاقات کی ۔ ان میں پاکستان مسلم لیگ ( ن ) کے چیئرمین راجہ ظفر الحق ‘ جماعت اسلامی پاکستان کے نائب امیر سینیٹر پروفیسر خورشید احمد ‘ پی پی پی پی کے راہنما سید نیئر حسین بخاری ‘ سابق وزیر اطلاعات پاکستان مسلم لیگ ( ق ) کے راہنما نثار اے میمن ‘ عطیہ عنایت اللہ اور عوامی نیشنل پارٹی و ایم کیو ایم کے نمائندے شامل تھے ۔ حکومت اپوزیشن جماعتوں کے رہنماؤں سے مشترکہ ملاقات میں 18 فروری کے عام انتخابات کے حوالے سے یورپی یونین کے مبصرین کی رپورٹ پر تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا ۔ اس ضمن میں سیاسی جماعتوں کو یورپی یونین کی سفارشات سے بھی آگاہ کیا گیا ۔ ملاقات ایک گھنٹہ سے زائد وقت تک جاری رہی ۔ سیاسی جماعتوں کے نمائندوں نے 18 فروری کے انتخابات کے حوالے سے اپنے نکتہ نظر اور موقف سے بھی یورپی یونین کو آگاہ کیا ۔ یورپی یونین اور سیاسی جماعتوں کے درمیان اس اجلاس میں جمہوری عمل کے استحکام کے لئے سیاسی جماعتوں کی مشاورت سے آزاد و خودمختار الیکشن کمیشن پر اتفاق کیا گیا ہے ۔ جبکہ اس سفارش کو یورپی یونین کی مبصر رپورٹ میں بھی شامل کیا گیا ہے ۔ اپنی سفارشات میں یورپی یونین نے انتخابی فہرستوں کی شفائیت پر بھی زور دیا ۔ ملاقات کے حوالے سے پاکستان مسلم لیگ ( ن ) کے چیئرمین راجہ ظفر الحق نے کہا کہ ہم نے یورپی یونین کی جانب سے پاکستان میں جمہوریت و آئین کی بحالی کے حوالے سے اختیار کئے گئے موقف کو احسن قرار دیا ۔ بالخصوص 12 اکتوبر 1999 ء کے فوجی اقدام کے خلاف یورپی یونین نے جس موقف کا اظہار کیا اور پاکستان میں جمہوریت آئین اور بنیادی حقوق کی بحالی کا جو مطالبہ کیا تھا یورپی یونین کا شکریہ ادا کیا ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ انتخابی فہرستوں میں خامیاں موجود ہیں فہرستوں میں دہرے ووٹ در ج ہیں جس کا یورپی یونین کے مبصرین کی رپورٹ میں بھی ذکر موجود ہے ۔ صاف شفاف انتخابات کے لئے درست انتخابی فہرستیں ضروری ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ انتخابات کے حوالے سے اپنے موقف کے دوران یہ بھی بتایا گیا کہ انتخابات کے موقع پر تمام سیاسی جماعتوں کو مساوی مواقع حاصل نہیں تھے ۔ صدر کی جانب سے ایک سییاسی جماعت کی پشت پناہی کی جا رہی تھی ۔ راجہ ظفرا لحق نے یورپی یونین کے ساتھ اس اجلاس کو مفید قرار دیا ۔

صدر مشرف کو اقتدار میں رہنے کا کوئی حق نہیں ہے انہیں اب چھوڑنا ہو گا۔جنرل ( ر ) حمید گل

اسلام آباد ۔ آئی ایس آئی کے سابق سربراہ جنرل ( ر ) حمید گل نے کہا ہے کہ صدر مشرف کو اقتدار میں رہنے کا کوئی حق نہیں ہے انہیں اب اقتدار چھوڑنا ہو گا ۔ پرویز مشرف کی غلط پالیسیوں سے ملک تباہی کے دہانے پر پہنچ چکا ہے ۔ پرویز مشرف کے اقتدار میں رہنے کے تمام دروازے بند ہو چکے ہیں اب 58 ٹو بی کا استعمال ممکن نہیں رہا ۔ چیف جسٹس افتخار محمد چوہدری سمیت پی سی او کے تحت حلف نہ اٹھانے والے جج صاحبان بحال ہوں گے ۔ ججوں کی بحالی میں اب کوئی ابہام نہیں رہ گیا اب افتخار چوہدری کو بحال اور پرویز مشرف کو جانا ہو گا ۔بے نظیر بھٹو کے قتل میں انہی بیرونی قوتوں کا ہاتھ ہے ۔ جنہوں نے لیاقت علی خان ‘ ضیاء الحق کو قتل اور ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کو پھا نسی پر چڑھایا تھا ۔ گزشتہ روز ایک نجی ٹی وی سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ اس بات کا اغلب امکان ہے کہ پارلیمنٹ ججوں کی بحالی سے بھی قبل صدر کو مواخذے کے ذریعے ہٹا دے ۔ پارلیمنٹ حالات کو اس طرف لے جا رہی ہے جس کا تقاضا عوام کر رہے ہیں ۔ صدر مشرف کے جانے کا اب وقت آ گیا ہے انہیں اب بہرحال جانا ہو گا ۔ اگر پرویز مشرف کو ہٹا دیا جاتا ہے تو بہت سے مسائل خود بخود حل ہو جائیں گے ۔ اگر پاکستان اور عوام کی خواہش کو بحال ہونا ہے تو اس کا واحد طریقہ یہی رہ گیا ہے کہ افتخار محمد چوہدری بحال اور صدر مشرف مستعفی ہوں ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ سیاست کو قانون کے کٹہرے میں کھڑا نہیں کیا جا سکتا ۔ اس وقت عوام کی مجموعی سوچ یہی ہے کہ صدر مشرف اب جائیں اب مشرف کو اقتدار میں رہنے کا کوئی حق نہیں ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ امریکہ کا کہنا کہ ایٹمی ہتھیار دہشت گردوں کے ہاتھ لگ جائیں گے ۔ یہ غلط ہے ہمارا کنٹرول کا نظام بڑا موثر ہے ۔ حمید گل نے کہا کہ تاریخ نے فیصلہ کر دیا ہے کہ صدر مشرف کو اب جانا پڑے گا صدر کی رخصتی اب حتمی ہو گئی ہے ۔ خواہ یہ خونریزی کے ذریعے یا پارلیمنٹ کے ذریعے پرامن طریقے سے ہو بہرحال اب ان کے لئے جانا ضروری ٹھہر گیا ہے ۔ حمید گل نے کہا کہ اسٹیبلشمنٹ کے اندر بھی صدر مشرف کے لئے اب کوئی نرم گوشہ نہیں ہے ۔ کیونکہ صدر کی غلط پالیسیوں کی وجہ سے انتظامیہ ذلیل ہوئی ہے اور اتنے لوگ مارے گئے ہیں اس لئے اب صدر کی کوئی حمایت نہیں کرے گا ۔ حمید گل نے کہا کہ نئی حکومت کے قیام سے لے کر اب تک کوئی خودکش حملہ نہیں ہوا جس سے ظاہر ہے کہ یہ سب کچھ صدر مشرف کی وجہ سے ہو رہا تھا اب لوگوں کو یقین ہو گیا ہے کہ صدر مشرف اب نہیں رہیں گے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قوم امن پسند ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ ایف بی آئی کو کھلی چھٹی دی گئی ہے ۔ سی آئی اے وغیرہ سب دندناتے پھر رہے ہیں ان کو کھلی چھٹی پرویز مشرف نے دے رکھی ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ دشمن ہمارے اندر گھس آئے ہیں وہ ہمارے اداروں کے اندر موجود ہیں اور پاکستان میں تشدد آمیز جو واقعات ہو رہے ہیں ان کے پیچھے انہی کا ہاتھ ہے انہی کی سوچ استعمال ہو رہی ہے ۔ حمید گل نے کہا کہ بے نظیر بھٹو کو انہی لوگوں نے قتل کیا جنہوں نے لیاقت علی خان قتل کیا ۔ ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کو پھانسی پر چڑھایا ۔ ضیاء الحق کو قتل کیا یہ عالمی استعمار ہیں جن کے سربراہ امریکہ ہیں یہ پاکستان کو آزاد نہیں دیکھنا چاہتے ۔ بے نظیر بھٹو ان سے باغی ہو گئیں تھیں نیگرو پانٹے جب بے نظیر سے ملنے پاکستان آئے تو انہوں نے ملنے سے انکار کر دیا اسی وقت فیصلہ ہو گیا تھا ۔ انہوں نے یہاں بے تحاشا وسائل جمع کر رکھے ہیں ان سب باتوں کی تحقیقات کی ضرورت ہے ۔ بے نظیر کی ٹارگٹ کلنگ تھی ۔ نجی ٹی وی سے بات چیت کرتے ہوئے دفاعی و سیاسی تجزیہ نگار جنرل ( ر ) طلعت مسعود نے کہا کہ صدر پرویز مشرف کے اقتدار میں رہنے کے تقریباً تمام دروازے بند ہو گئے ہیں اور ان کے لئے 58 ٹو بی کا استعمال ممکن نہیں رہا کیونکہ اس کے استعمال کا اب ماحول نہیں رہا ۔ جنرل ( ر ) طلعت مسعود نے کہا کہ صدر پرویز مشرف کے لئے اب کٹھن وقت آ گیا ہے اور اگر ججز بحال ہو جاتے ہیں تو ان کا اقتدار میں رہنے کے تمام دروازے بند ہو جائیں گے ۔ جنرل ( ر ) طلعت مسعود نے کہا کہ 58 ٹو بی ایک خاص ماحول میں استعمال ہو سکتا ہے اب چونکہ حالات تبدیل ہو گئے ہیں اور لوگ جمہوریت چاہتے ہیں اس لئے 58 ٹو بی کے استعمال کا ماحول نہیں رہا ۔ اس لئے اگر صدر مشرف ایسا کریں گے تو عوام قبول نہیں کریں گے اور حالات بالکل خراب ہو جائیں گے ایک سوال پر جنرل ( ر ) طلعت مسعود نے کہا کہ بے نظیر بھٹو کی شہادت کی ذمہ داری سابقہ حکومت پر عائد ہوتی ہے کیونکہ اس نے بے نظیر کو تحفظ کے لئے سیکیورٹی نہیں دی تھی جس کی ضرورت تھی ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ انتظامیہ کو علم تھا کہ بے نظیر کے لئے خطرہ تھا ۔ بعض جنگجوؤں قوتیں ایسا کر سکتی تھیں اس لئے انتظامیہ کو مناسب سیکیورٹی فراہم کرنی چاہئے تھی ایسا نہ کر کے انتظامیہ نے غیر ذمہ داری کا ثبوت دیا ۔

اکستان میں امریکہ کا ایک نہیں کئی مہرے موجود ہیں ۔ قاضی حسین احمد

لاہور ۔ جماعت اسلامی پاکستان کے امیر قاضی حسین احمد نے کہا ہے کہ ججوں کی بحالی کیلئے حکومت کی اتحادی جماعتوں نے جو دو ٹوک اعلان اور کمٹمنٹ دی ہے اس پر کسی شک و شبہ کی گنجائش نہیں ہے ۔ موجودہ حکومت کو عوام کے بنیادی مسائل کے حل اور انہیں ضروریات زندگی کی فراہمی پر اپنی توجہ مرکوز کرنے کے علاوہ غیر آئینی صدر کے جلد مواخذہ کا طریقہ کار بھی وضع کرنا چاہیے ۔ ۔ پاکستان میں امریکہ کا ایک نہیں بلکہ کئی مہرے موجود ہیں ۔ اس امرکا اظہار انہوں نے منصورہ میں المجمع العالمی لتقریب بین المذاہب الاسلامیہ کے سربراہ جناب آیت اللہ محمد علی التسخیری کے اعزاز میں دیئے گئے استقبالیہ کے بعد صحافیوں سے ان کے ہمراہ گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کیا ۔ اس موقع پر ایرانی قولصلیٹ اور خانہ فرہنگ ایران کے سربراہ بھی موجود تھے ۔ آیت اللہ محمد علی التسخیری نے صحافیوں سے گفتگو اور تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ امریکہ کو امت مسلمہ کے خلاف ہر سازش میں ناکامی ہوئی ہے اور مستقبل میں بھی وہ کامیابی حاصل نہیں کر سکے گا ۔ لیکن اگر امت مسلمہ متحد نہ ہوئی تو اسے سورج کے نیچے کہیں بھی سر چھپانے کو جگہ نہیں ملے گی ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ امریکہ نے ایک کے بعد دوسری حماقت کی ہے اسے مشرق وسطی ، افغانستان ، لبنان ، فلسطین ہر جگہ پر ناکامی کا سامنا ہے جبکہ وہ عراق میں بھی اذیت ناک شکست سے دوچار ہے اور مزید دلدل میں دھنستا چلا جارہا ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ امریکہ نے لبنان میں اسرائیل کی مدد سے حملہ کیا، اسلحہ فراہم کیا، روپیہ پیسہ بھی دیا لیکن لبنان کے عوام نے اپنے جذبہ ایمانی کے ذریعے اس کی جارحیت کو ناکام بنایا ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ایران جو ایٹمی صلاحیت کے حصول کیلئے کوشاں ہے مجھے یقین ہے کہ وہ اس میں بھی کامیاب ہو گا ۔ اب امریکہ کو عقل کا راستہ اختیار کرنا چاہیئے اور ان سازشوں سے باز آجانا چاہیے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ صیہونی ریاست کو ہر صورت ختم ہونا ہے ۔ ہم امریکی عوام کے خلاف نہیں ہیں ان سے محبت کرتے ہیں اور ان کی کامیابی چاہتے ہیں ۔ لیکن امریکہ کو مسلم دشمن پالیسیوں سے اجتناب کرنا چاہیے کیونکہ ماضی میں وہ اپنی ہر اس سازش میں ناکام رہا اس نے شاہ ایران کو تحفظ دینے کی بھی کوشش کی لیکن اس میں کامیاب نہیں ہو سکا ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ امت مسلمہ کی شناخت حضرت ابراہیم علیہ السلام کی اولاد کی حیثیت سے ہمیں دنیا بھر میں متحد ہونا ہو گا اس کا یہ مطلب نہیں کہ ہم دوسرے مذاہب کے خلاف ہیں لیکن ان تمام مذاہب کو جو ان میں 90 فیصد مشرکات موجود ہیںاس پر عمل پیرا ضررو ہونا چاہیے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جماعت اسلامی کے بانی مولانا مودودی امت مسلمہ کے اتحاد اور اسے قرآن کے پیغام کے تحت متحد کرنے کی بھرپور کوشش کی ،ایران کے نوجوانوں نے ان کی کتب سے دین اسلام کے حوالے سے بہت رہنمائی حاصل کی ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ بھی وجہ ہے کہ آج دنیا اسلام ممالک میں 207 بینک بغیر سودی بینکاری کر رہے ہیں جن میں 400 ارب ڈالر گردش میں ہیں ۔ ہمارا اصل ہدف اللہ کے پیغام کی سربلندی ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اگر امت مسلمہ متحد نہ ہوئی تو دنیا میں موجود چیلنجوں کا مقابلہ نہیں کر سکے گی اور سورج کے نیچے اسے کہیں پناہ نہیں ملے گی ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے صحافیوں سے گفتگو اور تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پاکستان میں امریکہ کا ایک مہرا نہیں بلکہ بہت سے مہرے موجود ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ حکومتی اتحاد نے ججوں کی بحالی پر جوعملی کمٹمنٹ دی ہے اس پر شک کرنے کی کوئی وجہ نہیں ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ موجودہ حکومت کو چاہیے کہ وہ عوام کو بنیادی ضروریات کی فراہمی پر توجہ دے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جماعت اسلامی کا مقصد قرآن وسنت کی روشنی میں اہداف کو حاصل کرتے ہوئے یہاں اسلامی نظام کے قیام کی کوشش کرنا ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ آیت اللہ محمد علی التسخیری کا مقصد بھی اسلامی دنیا کو متحد کرنا ہے ۔ اس مقصد کیلئے وہ مختلف ممالک کے دورے کر رہے ہیں ۔ ان کی پاکستان آمد کا مقصد بھی یہی ہے ۔ جماعت اسلامی کے بانی مولانا مودودی کے حوالہ سے انہوں نے کہا کہ انہوں نے امت مسلمہ کو دوبارہ منظم کرنے اور اسے متحد کرنے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا اور قرآن وسنت کے حوالے سے ان مسائل کی نشاندہی کی ۔ دین کے غلبہ کیلئے امت کا متحد ہونا ضروری ہے اور یہ اس پر فرض ہے ۔

I want to direct films, but later: Manisha Koirala

Mumbai:After staying away from the arclights for a couple of years, Nepali beauty Manisha Koirala returns with "Sirf - Life Looks Greener On The Other Side". The actress also plans to take up direction in a year or two.
"Definitely, I do want to direct films. But right now the priorities are different. May be in a year or two I will start direction too," Manisha told IANS."But believe me, being an actor is the most blessed position because they are the most pampered lot," said the 30 plus actress who comes from a politically prominent family in Nepal. Her granduncle G.P. Koirala is the current prime minister there.She debuted in Bollywood with Subhash Ghai's super hit "Saudagar" and went on to star in films like "1942: A Love Story", "Bombay", "Gupt", "Dil Se" and "Kachche Dhaage".After Kamal Haasan's "Mumbai Express" in 2006, "Sirf" is the first film in which she will be playing the main lead. She made sporadic appearances in duds like "Darwaza Bandh Rakho" and "Anwar". She also went off to the US for a film course.Manisha is paired opposite Kay Kay Menon in "Sirf", a film about four couples that has been directed by Raajatesh Nayar, erstwhile assistant of Raj Kumar Santoshi."I am playing the character of Devika who is married to Kay Kay. He is a very good and clear-cut director. He has a very clear vision of what he wants. Although he had trained under Santoshi, his style of filmmaking is very different.""I think 'Sirf' is closer to 'Life in a... Metro' than any of the films made by Santoshi. Because of his training and exposure, Raajatesh has shown a lot of maturity in handling the subject," she added.All the four couples belong to different levels of society and each has its own problems to deal with, but somewhere they all come across each other. Deepika Padukone plays double role in 'Chandni Chowk To China'

Mumbai: Director Nikhil Advani, who has been shooting with hectic celerity in China for his new action-comedy "Chandni Chowk To China", confirms that Deepika Padukone is playing double role in the movie.
"That's right," confirmed Advani. "Deepika is doing a double role in my film."This would be Deepika's second double role after her debut "Om Shanti Om".When quizzed him about the music of the film, Advani told IANS: "While the rest of the score by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with a little help from Kailash Kher, is completely original, we've used Bappi Lahiri's 'Bombay se aaya mera dost' from the film 'Aap Ki Khatir'. Bappi has reworked and re-sung the song."Advani's directorial debut "Kal Ho Naa Ho" was a runaway success at the box office, but his second film "Salaam-e-Ishq" was letdown. "Chandani Chowk to China" is a mega-budget film and is produced by Warner Brothers and Rohan Sippy.

Olympic torch tours China-friendly Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Pakistan welcomed the Olympic torch Wednesday for what its pro-China government hopes will be a festive and trouble-free leg of its world tour.
Protests against China’s human rights record have marred the torch’s passage through Western cities, and Pakistan has gone to great lengths to avoid any repeat during its short stay en route to Beijing.
A plane bringing the torch from Oman arrived at the military section of Islamabad airport shortly after midnight. A Chinese Olympic official carried a lantern containing the Olympic flame down the steps of the jetliner to where Pakistani sports chiefs and the Chinese ambassador were waiting.
After briefly posing for photographers with the lantern, the officials entered the terminal. Pakistani state television said the flame would be kept at a luxury hotel overnight.
Later Wednesday, about 60 Pakistani athletes will take turns to carry it to a ceremony featuring folk music and dancing at the city’s biggest sports complex before guests including President Pervez Musharraf.
But instead of carrying the torch in relay along a 3-kilometer (nearly 2-mile) route from the white marble parliament building in Pakistan’s grid-plan capital, as originally planned, the athletes will run only around the grounds of the Jinnah Stadium.
Col. Baseer Haider, an army official helping organize the event, said the change was made because of the overall security environment” and the risk of bad weather. A violent hailstorm hit Islamabad on Tuesday.
The Pakistan Olympic Association has urged broadcasters using state TV coverage of the torch to avoid negative comments” and make no mention” of the conflict in Tibet.
Pakistan has strong and long-standing defense and economic links with China. Both are rivals of neighboring India. Musharraf is expected to return from a six-day official trip to China in time for the torch ceremony.
There have been no indications that rights groups are planning to repeat in Pakistan their protests against China, which disrupted torch relays in Paris, London and San Francisco.
The torch’s stops in Argentinian, Tanzania and Oman have been trouble-free.
However, rioting in two Pakistani cities in the past week has raised tension in a country permanently on guard against attacks by Islamic militants based its border with Afghanistan. Chinese workers were targeted in two deadly attacks last year.
We have to take care that there is no infiltration by some elements who are bent on disrupting our understanding and great relationship,” Musharraf said in China on Monday.
The turmoil over the torch relay and the growing international criticism of China’s policies on Tibet and Darfur have turned the Beijing Olympic Games which begin Aug. 8 into one of the most contentious in recent history.
The flame, which began its worldwide six-continent trek from ancient Olympia in Greece on March 24, is due in India on Thursday.
Pakistani sports stars chosen to carry the torch include Hassan Sardar, a field hockey gold-medallist in the 1984 Los Angeles games and squash legend Jahangir Khan.

UN Security Council calls for disarming Hezbollah

UNITED NATIONS - The UN Security Council called Tuesday for the disarming of Hezbollah and all other militias in Lebanon and greater progress toward a permanent ceasefire and long-term solution to the conflict between Lebanon and Israel.
A statement adopted by consensus by the 15-member council reiterates its commitment to the full implementation of all provisions of Resolution 1701” which ended the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in August 2006.
That resolution reiterates a call for the disarming of all militias and bans arms transfers to them. It calls on the government to secure its borders and entry points to prevent the entry into Lebanon without its consent of arms or related materiel.”
It also calls for Israel and Lebanon to support a permanent ceasefire and long-term solution based on full respect for the U.N.-drawn Blue Line along their border, security arrangements to prevent the resumption of hostilities, and the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon so there will be no weapons or authority in Lebanon other than that of the Lebanese state.”
The statement adopted Tuesday took note of the progress and concerns expressed by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in his latest report on implementation of the resolution and emphasizes the need for greater progress on all the key issues required for a permanent ceasefire and long-term solution.”
It also called on all concerned parties, in particular in the region, to intensify their efforts in implementing resolution 1701, including by fully cooperating with the secretary-general in this regard.”
In his last report in March, Ban noted that Israel says Hezbollah is rearming and has an arsenal that includes 10,000 long-range rockets and 20,000 short-range rockets in southern Lebanon.
The report did not confirm Israel’s claim, but Ban reiterated his concern about Hezbollah’s public statements and persistent reports pointing to breaches of a U.N. arms embargo. He also expressed concern at the threats of open war against Israel” by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Ban also expressed regret that the persistent deterioration of the political climate and the prolonged deadlock” over the election of a new Lebanese president which remains unresolved today have made it impossible to deal with the disarmament issue.
In a report in late October, Ban drew attention to alleged breaches of the arms embargo and the transfer of sophisticated weapons from Iran and Syria both strong backers of Hezbollah across the Lebanon-Syria border. Syria disputed the claim.
U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said negotiations on the good, acceptable” statement took time because it involved different countries inside and outside the Security Council
With regard to the implementation, I think there are pluses and minuses there,” he said. We would like to see more progress on disarming militias.”
France’s U.N. Ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert said: We are very satisfied by the fact that the Security Council was in a position to adopt unanimously a presidential statement to the end of supporting Resolution 1701 implementation.”

Reconciliation policy to continue: Gillni

LAHORE : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said Wednesday that PPP would continue to pursue the policy of reconciliation as it wanted to take along all political parties. He was talking to the media persons after meeting the PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif at his residence at Raiwind.
Asked whether the process of talks for reconciliation with the MQM was over, he said, “There are ups and downs in politics, but the policy to seek reconciliation will continue.”
Mian Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Dost Muhammad Khosa, Zulfiqar Khosa, Hussain Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz were also present on the occasion.
To a question, the Prime Minister said that decisions on all issues would be taken in consultation with the coalition partners.
Regarding the recent demonstration in Multan, he said, “The power and flour crises are the result of the wrong policies of the previous regime, and the present government will overcome all these problems with the cooperation of the masses.”
He said miscreants were involved in the incidents in Multan who wanted to divert people’s attention from the real issues, adding that they probably targeted Multan as the Prime Minister is from there.
Gilani urged people to remain peaceful to foil the evil designs of such elements and ensure peace in the country which was vital for economic development.
To a question about the future of President Pervez Musharraf, he said, “The decision in this regard will be taken according to the constitution”.
Regarding reinstatement of the deposed judges, he said, “We are committed to take steps in this regard as per the Bhurban Declaration”.
To another question, the PM said, “I have come here to meet Mian Nawaz Sharif, and have a close association with him since long. When he was the finance minister of Punjab, I was chairman District Council Multan, and we enjoyed a good relationship”.

Govt machinery to serve as facilitator, not regulator: PM

LAHORE : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani has said that the government machinery will serve as a facilitator rather than a ‘regulator’ and that all unnecessary barriers in way of economic growth will be removed. “We will not allow the pace of economic growth of the country to be impeded, and are determined to facilitate the private sector in this connection,” he said while addressing a seminar on “Economic Freedom - a stimulator in achieving business excellence in South Asia”.
The seminar was organised by SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), supported by Friedrich Naumani Stiftung (FNS).
Governor Punjab Lt Gen ® Khalid Maqbool, President SCCI Tariq Saeed, President FPCCI Tanvir Ahmed Sheikh, Resident Representative FNS in Islamabad, Peter Andreas Bochman, and leading businessmen including Iftikhar Ali Malik were among the participants.
The Prime Minister said that SAARC is at a crucial crossroads, it has achieved much, but certainly has the potential to achieve much more.
He said that the strengths and weaknesses of SAARC need to be analyzed, and member nations should convert debate and deliberations into concrete action—in order to meet the enormous challenges of the fast changing 21st century.
The Prime Minister said that member nations of SAARC have a collective responsibility to demonstrate the courage, commitment and foresight to transform South Asia into a progressive, peaceful and prosperous region.
A paradigm shift in thinking and attitude as a whole will be required to achieve this objective, which is the sincere and earnest desire of all member states, he added.
He expressed confidence that the South Asian business community has the determination and the imagination to ensure such a transformation that could help achieve the noble objectives for which SAARC was created.
Pakistan is privileged to be the current leader of the SAARC business community, he said, adding that it is both an honour as well as a challenge.
“I am sure that the chamber under the dynamic leadership of Tariq Saeed and his capable team will add a new chapter in the history of SAARC. This can be done by enhancing economic cooperation and forging new alliances to tap the full potential of the member countries”, he said.
He said that islands of affluence and centers of excellence exist in different parts of South Asia, and emphasised upon the need to harness the potential of these centres.
SAARC has succeeded in developing and elaborating a framework for regional cooperation, he said, adding that from small beginnings limited to technical cooperation, the body is advancing towards agreements and decisions for substantive interaction.
“We have programmes aimed at social uplift, poverty alleviation, vigorous people-to-people contacts, creation of a free trade arrangement and environmental protection, which are all areas of vital importance”, he observed.
The Prime Minister said that Industry has rightly indicated that intra-regional trade of only 6 percent does not reflect the potential available in the region, adding that the business community of SAARC will surely play its due role in tapping the existing potential.
The trade liberalization program to be concluded by 2016 will provide a level playing field to all member states, he said, adding that inclusion of services in SAFTA negotiations would further widen the sphere of commercial activities in the region.
Gillani said that Pakistan as a free market economy possesses enormous potential for investment.
“Our government has embarked upon a liberalized economic policy, which will not only help in expansion of economy but also promote economic freedom in the country”, he said.
He requested the business community of SAARC to benefit from the liberalized investment and trade policies in Pakistan, and said that it will not only help strengthen relations but will also contribute positively towards regional development.
The Prime Minster said that politically elected leadership of Pakistan is very much aware of the benefits of Economic Freedom and manifesto of present government is to ensure the socio-economic freedom of the society.
In the prejudiced policies of the past regimes in the region, economic freedom has been one of the neglected items in their agenda.
Economic Freedom ensures rule of law, promotes democracy, secures basic human rights, and confers rights of doing business, he said.
“ Our party is a fervent supporter of Economic Freedom and perceives economic freedom as an instrument of economic well-being of the country.
Yousaf Raza Gillani said that the people of South Asia were engaged in commerce with each other for centuries and they must build on their ancient civilizational and commercial linkages by renewing and nurturing the economic, social and cultural ties that bind this region together.
President SCCI Tariq Sayeed in his address requested the prime minister to minimize the bureaucratic and political hurdles coming in way of promotion of business in the country.
He also praised former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto for her initiatives and vision to bring prosperity economic well-being in Pakistan as well as South Asian region.
President FPCCI Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh said that higher economic freedom bring higher per capita income. He said that most of the countries in South Asian Region do not enjoy much economic freedom.
He emphasised upon the need to control corruption to provide freedom to the businessmen and industrialists from corrupt elements.

Parliament to decide on judges’ restoration: Gilani

LAHORE : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said the parliament will decide about the issue of restoration of deposed judges. He was responding to questions from media after attending the SAARC seminar on ‘Economic Freedom’ held at a local hotel here.About the future of President Pervez Musharraf, the Prime Minister said that everything would be done as laid down in the constitution of the country.

Gilani visits suicide site, appeals for help for needy

LAHORE : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday appealed to the well-off segments of society inlcuding members of parliament, nazims and philanthropists to provide all possible financial help to the poor people in their respective areas. He was talking to journalists during his visit to the house of Bushra Bibi in Makkah Colony, the 26-year old woman (26) who along with her two minor kids - Muhammad Zubair (5) and Saima (3) - had committed suicide due to desperation through poverty. The woman had thrown her kids and herself on the railway track in front of a running train near the 7-Up level crossing on April 12.
The Prime MInister was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Dost Muhammad Khosa.
Gillani said, “I request the leaders and members of all political parties, MNAs, MPAs, nazims and philanthropists to provide financial support to the poor and needy in their respective areas, to avoid recurrence of such tragic incidents”.
He said the government will develop and initiate programmes aimed at eliminating poverty and unemployment from the country. To a question, he said the government will also streamline the Zakat Fund to ensure its provision to the deserving segments of the society.
While offering condolence to the family of the deceased, the Prime Minister expressed profound grief over the tragic suicide incident. He gave Rs 200,000 cash to Bushra Bibi’s heirs, besides announcing that the marriage expenses of her two younger sisters will be borne by the government.
He also promised provision of a permanent residence for the bereaved family.
The present residence of Bushra Bibi is a one-room rented premises. The widower Muhammad Ramzan is a welder by profession and earns Rs 6,000 per month.
Talking to APP, Ramzan disclosed that he and his wife always had good relations, and she had never complained about his meagre earnings, however, she did wish her kids to receive a good education, and used to teach the children at home.
“I don’t know what clicked in her mind that day, to take such a horrible step,” he added.
Bushra Bibi’s father Muhammad Arif and mother Khalida Bibi also agreed with him, and observed that maybe the thought of poverty had affected her more than they realised, and was a factor behind her suicide.

Govt. to adopt more measures to ensure freedom of media: Sherry

ISLAMABAD : Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ms. Sherry Rehman Wednesday said the government has already tabled a Bill in the National Assembly to remove black media laws and it would adopt more measures to ensure freedom of media. She was talking to a delegation of Cable Operators Association of Pakistan that called on the Minister under the leadership of Chairman of the Association, Khalid Sheikh here.
“The cable operators are the main source to disseminate information to the public and the new democratic government would not allow any one to block the cable TV operations in the country,” she said.
The Minister reiterated that the government believes in the freedom of information and public access to information, therefore, no one will be allowed to disrupt the free flow of information.
“A hotline service would be set up at Ministry of Information where cable operators would register their complaints of any external pressure for blocking their system or a particular TV channel,” the Minister said and added this would help ensure smooth running of the cable TV network in the country.
The members of the delegation appreciated the vision of the government for freedom of media and apprised the Minister of their problems.
The Minister assured the delegation to look into their problems.
With a view to providing a balanced coverage to the opposition’s point of view as well as the treasury benches in the parliament, Sherry Rehman directed the PTV management to ensure that the state television acts as a prime source of information to the electorate that have sent their representatives to the parliament.
“There must be no-black out of opposition as was the case during the previous regime,” the Minister said and added free clean feed of the coverage of the parliament session will be provided to the private TV channels by PTV.
Sherry Rehman also reiterated the democratic government’s resolve that media would be given access to the meetings of the parliament’s standing committees and arrangements will be made for live coverage of these meetings.

New govt to focus strengthening of Pak-China ties for regional stability: FM

ISLAMABAD : Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Wednesday said the new government would continue focus on improving relations with China, as strong Pakistan-China ties are a guarantee to peace, security and stability in the region. “There is a continued improvement in our ties over the years and the government would continue the tradition of cementing these relations,” the foreign minister told the media team accompanying President Musharraf at the conclusion of his six-day state visit to China.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said there was a deep understanding between the political leadership of the two countries.
“China is a reliable and trustworthy friend and has proved to stand by Pakistan over the years, despite the changes in leadership of two countries,” he said.
He recalled that former Prime Ministers late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto gave due importance to Pakistan-China ties.
About talks with Chinese leaders, he said both the sides reviewed the whole sphere of relations between the two brotherly countries and expressed satisfaction over the progress, particularly on defence, strategic cooperation other development programs.
He said both the sides were of view that there was a need for translating warmth in their peoples and other spheres into a more meaningful economic interaction.
He said the Chinese foreign minister will be visiting Islamabad from April 25-26 to follow up President’s visit and hold discussions to improve the implementation procedures.
“The people and leadership of China continues to hold Pakistan and its people in high esteem,” he added.
He said during the visit, several new areas were identified where the two countries can have extensive cooperation. He said Pakistan pointed the energy shortage in country as its requirements far outpace the production.
Qureshi said Pakistan was trying to meet its energy shortage through nuclear, hydel, coal fired generation besides utilising alternative sources of power generation.
He said Pakistan has invited China to study various options for generating electricity in Pakistan, particularly through hydel.
He said China can finance Pakistan for the Diamer Bhasha dam as it has the required expertise and experience in handling such large projects.
He said China also has the technology in the coal mining sector and can assist in helping Pakistan develop its Thar coal fields for energy generation.
He said there were several investment opportunities in Pakistan. Pakistan and China have a joint five-year trade and development plan, and under its framework, can invest in Pakistan in several areas.
The Pakistan-China joint investment company was already functional and said President Hu Jintao has also extended his full support in urging the Chinese entrepreneurs invest in Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and China have vast scope in expanding ties in tourism and people-to-people contacts and added that the number of Chinese tourists would increase to one million by 2020.
He said Pakistan has several Buddhist and other sites that can be very attractive for the Chinese tourists.
In the sphere of education the foreign minister said both countries can enhance cooperation and mentioned the five-university consortium that would set up a science and technology university in Islamabad.
He said China has US 1.5 trillion dollars as reserves and together with the liquidity, technology, and strong political ties, there can be a mutually beneficial relationship.
He said Pakistan has also sought support from China in helping in a ship building and repair facility along the Gwadar Port.
The port, he said, would be linked to China through the upgraded Karakoram Highway, with a rail track, fibre optic and oil and gas pipeline along it.
He said Pakistan can also utilize its location as a hub for transit between China, Central Asian Republics, Middle East and Europe and reap the benefits.

14 die as wagon falls in Neelum River

ISLAMABAD : Fourteen passengers were killed and four wounded Wednesday when a van going to Muzaffarabad from Panjkot plunged into river in Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir. Three children were among the dead. According to police, a van going from Panjkot to Muzaffarabad skidded in Neelum River due to bad weather, private TV channel Geo reported.
Twelve passengers of the van were killed on the spot, while other two died in hospital.
Six seriously injured were shifted to CMH Muzaffarabad.

Kashmiri organisation calls for UN fact finding mission

LONDON : Justice Foundation Kashmir Centre has called for sending a United Nations fact-finding mission to the Occupied Kashmir to investigate unprecedented human rights violations.
In a statement, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Shawl, Executive Director, JFKC, said the world body must play a pro-active role in addressing the human suffering in a conflict situation.
Condemning the brutal crackdown on the peaceful protesters marching towards United Nations office in Srinagar to present a memorandum on human right violations, he appealed to international community to take notice of this savage action.
He said the international human rights watch group bodies like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have already taken up the issue with government of India but the UN has yet to do so.

وفاقی وزیر تعلیم پروفیسر چودھری احسن اقبال نے کہا ہے کہ قوم اسی مہینے ججوں کی بحالی کی خوشخبری سنے گی اور ججز اعلان مری کی روشنی میں بحال ہونگے۔وفاقی وزیر تعلیم چودھری احسن اقبال اپنی قابلیت اور کارکردگی کے حوالے سے تما م وزراءسے ایک منفرد مقام رکھتے ہیں۔ وزارتوں کی تقسیم کے موقع پر ہر وزیر نے وزارت تعلیم کے علاوہ ہر وزارت کی خوا ہش کی تھی کیونکہ اس میں کوا لٹی کا چیلنج سب کیلئے درد سر تھا۔ وفاقی وزیر تعلیم چودھری احسن اقبال نے اپنی پسند سے نہ صرف اس وزارت کا انخاب کیا ہے بلکہ اس چیلنج کو قبول بھی کیا ہے وفاقی وزیر تعلیم چودھری احسن اقبال بہتر پاکستان و ثزن کے خا لق بھی ہیں۔ماہرین تعلیم نے بھی رائے دی ہے کہ چودھری احسن اقبال اس چیلنج کو ایک احسن طریقے نہ صرف حل کر لیں گے بلکہ اپنے و ژن سے ایک ایسا تعلیم نظام دے جا ئیں گے جس سے نو آبادیاتی نظام تعلیم کا خا تمہ ہو جا ئے گا۔ اور سب کیلئے یکساں نظام تعلیم رائج ہو جا ئے گا۔ وفاقی وزیر تعلیم کی یہ بھی خوش قسمتی ہے فیڈرل ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف ایجوکیشن میں ایک منظم، متحرک اور قابل ڈی جی برگیڈیر جاوید اقبال اور پرو فیسر رفیق طاہر جیسے ما ہر تعلیم بھی مو جود ہیں۔ جو وزیر تعلیم کے وژن کو عملی شکل دینے کیلئے پہلے ہی انتظار میں بیٹھے ہیں۔ جبکہ وزیر تعلیم چودھری احسن اقبال نے اس عزم کا بھی اعادہ کیا ہے کہ قو می ضروریات سے ہم آہنگ نظام تعلیم مرتب کیا جائے گا اس سلسلے میں صوبائی حکومتوں کی تشکیل کے بعد ایک قومی کنوکشن بلا کر واضح تعلیمی تعلیمی نظام رائج کیا جائے گا جسے 10 سالوں تک آنے والی حکومتیں تبدیل نہیں کر سکیں گی۔ ساٹھ سال سے ملک و قوم کی جو صورتحال ہے اس کا تدارک صرف اور صرف تعلیمی انقلاب ہے اور تعلیمی انقلاب ہی وطن عزیز کی خوشحا لی کا باعث بن سکتا ہے۔ گزشتہ 8 سالوں میں غلط تعلیمی پا لیسیوں کی وجہ سے ہمارا نظام تعلیم تباہ ہو کر رہ گیا ہے ماضی میں حکمرانوں نے ذاتی مفاد کیلئے کروڑوں روپے تعلیم کے نام پر تشہیر میں اڑادیے جبکہ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ ہم آج بھی انسانی ترقی میں 135ویں نمبر پر ہیں بچوں کے سکول بھی دیہی علاقوں میں نہ ہونے کے برابر ہیں۔ہم ایک مثالی نظام تعلیم کے حامل نہیں ہیں لیکن سب نے مل کر ان مسائل کا حل نکا لنا ہے وفاقی وزیر تعلیم نے کئی ایک نئی اسکیم متعارف کروانے کا بھی عزم کا اعادہ کیا ہے۔ وفاقی وزیر تعلیم چودھری احسن اقبال سے گزارش ہے کہ تما م سکو لوں و کا لجز کو ما نیٹرنگ کر نے کیلئے وزارت تعلیم میں ایک ما نیٹرنگ سیل بنا دیا جا ئے۔ جو محکمہ تعلیم کے اندر بھی مو جود سازشی عناصر،کا لی بھیڑوں کا تدارک کر سکے۔ کیو نکہ بعض پرنسپل اور ٹیچرز کے آئے دن ایسے واقعات ہوتے رہتے ہیں جس میں بعض سکولوں کے پر نسپل اور ٹیچرز ملی بھگت کر کے ایسے ٹیچرز کے خلاف منظم سازش کرتے ہیں جس سے اس کا سروس ریکارڈ خراب کر دیا جا تا ہے اور سازشی عناصر اپنے عزائم میں کامیاب ہو جا تے ہیں۔ گذشتہ دنوں اس حوالے سے قو می اخبارات میں ایک خبر آئی کہ وفاقی وزیر تعلیم اور ڈی جی ایجوکیشن ایف جی جونیئر ماڈل سکول کی سر کش پرنسپل مسرت صادق،وائس پرنسپل مس عارفہ اور ڈی جی ایجو کیشن کے ڈرائیور کی ٹیچربیوی مسز عصمہ پروین کے دحونس آمیز رویے کا نوٹس لیں۔ مذکورہ سٹاف نے ایک ایسی ٹیچر کے خلاف سازش کی جسے اپنی بارہ سالہ سروس میں ایک دفعہ بھی شکایت یا انکوائری کے حوالے سے ڈائریکٹوریٹ نہیں جا نا پڑا۔یعنی اس نے اپنے فرائض کی انجام دہی میں کبھی کسی کو شکایت کا موقع ہی فراہم نہیں کیا۔ تفصیلات آنے کے بعد معلوم ہوا کہ مذکورہ سکول کی پرنسپل مسرت صادق،وائس پرنسپل عارفہ اور ڈی جی ایجوکیشن کے ڈرائیور کی ٹیچر بیوی نے ایک سٹوڈنٹ کی والدہ کو بلا کر درخواست لکھوائی اور کہا کہ اس پر دستخط کر دو جبکہ مذکورہ سازشی پرنسپل اور اس کی باقی دو ساتھی ٹیچرز نے پلان تیار کیا کہ اب گواہی کے باقی ٹیچرز سے دستخط کروائے جائیں اس ضمن میں سکول کی پرنسپل مسرت صادق نے دیگر ٹیچرز کو اپنے آفس میں ایک ایک کر کے بلا یا اور دھمکایا کے اس درخواست پر دستخط کر دو ورنہ میں آپ سب کی ACR خراب کردوں گی بہرحال بدیانت پرنسپل اپنے عزائم میں کا میاب ہو گئی اور دوسری ٹیچر مسز عصمہ نذیر جس کا خاوند ریحان، ڈی جی ایجوکیشن کا ڈرائیور بتایا جا تا ہے اس کی وساطت سے وفاقی نظامت تعلیم کے ڈی جی سے انکوائری کرانے کے حکم میں کا میاب ہوگئی۔ متاثرہ ٹیچر کو نہ صرف اپنے سکول میں بدنام کیا گیا بلکہ اس کے سروس کیریر کو بھی دائو پر لگا دیا گیا۔ مذ کورہ سکول کی سرکش پرنسپل نے اپنی مذ کورہ دو ساتھیوں کے ساتھ مل کر چند ماہ قبل بھی اسی متاثرہ ٹیچر کے ساتھ ایک سازش کی اس وقت ڈی جی ایجوکیشن برگیڈیر جا وید اقبال احمد ملک سے باہر گئے ہوئے تھے ۔ وفاقی وزیر تعلیم چودھری احسن اقبال اور برگیڈیر جاوید اقبال سے گزارش ہے کہ بلاشبہ آپ کی نیت میں کو ئی شک نہیں لیکن جب تک سکولوں میں موجود مسرت صادق، مسز عارفہ اور مسز عصمہ جیسے سازشی عناصر اور ان کی پشت پنا ہی کرنے والے ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف ایجوکشن میں بیٹھے بعض بدعنوان ملازمین کو بھی کیفر کر دار تک نہیں پہنچایا جا تا آپ سکولوں میں ٹیچرز اور سٹوڈنٹ کو ایک اچھا ما حول نہیں دے سکتے۔ وزیر اعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے ایک بار پھر واضح کیا ہے کہ کہا کہ وہ ہر فیصلہ پی پی پی، مسلم لیگ (ن) کی مشاورت سے کریں گے۔ جبکہ زرداری ہاو¿س میں اجلاس میں ججوں کی اعلان مری کے مطابق بحالی پر اتفاق ہو گیا ہے اور کراچی و ملتان کے واقعات کو حکومت کے کیخلاف سازش قرار دیا گیا ہے،اجلاس میں آصف زرداری ،نوازشریف اور اسفند یار ولی کے درمیان ہتھیار ڈالنے والوں سے مذاکرات جاری رکھنے اور عوامی طاقت سے جمہوریت مخالف قوتوں کی تمام سازشوں کو ناکام بنادینے پر بھی اتفاق کیا گیا ہے،اجلاس میں مولانا فضل الرحمن نے علالت کے باعث شرکت نہیں کی۔وفاقی وزیر اطلاعات شیری رحمن نے راقم الحروف سے پا رلیمنٹ میں گفتگو کر تے کہا کہ رہنماو¿ں کے درمیان آئندہ بھی ملاقاتیں ہوتی رہیں گی انہوں نے حکومت کیخلاف کی جانے والی سازشوں کی سنجیدہ اور ٹھوس تحقیقات کرانے کے عزم کا اظہار کیاملک کی موجودہ سیاسی صورتحال پر تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا۔ خوشگوار ماحول میں ہونے والی اس ملاقات کے دوران ”اعلان بھوربن“ پر عملدرآمد کا اعادہ کیا گیا ہے۔ اجلاس میں واضح کیا گیا کہ دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ میں مذاکرات کو اہمیت دی گئی تاہم مذاکرات صرف ان لوگوں سے کیے جائیں گے جو ہتھیار پھینک دیں گے۔ اجلاس میں اس عزم کا اظہار کیا گیا کہ غیرجمہوری قوتوں کی تمام سازشوں کو عوامی طاقت سے ناکام بنا دیا جائے گا۔ جبکہ روایت شکن چیف جسٹس افتخار چودھری نے کہا ہے کہ9 اپر یل کے شہیدوں کا خون رائیگا ں نہیں جائے گا وکلاء کی تحریک آئین اور قانون کی بالادستی کیلئے ہے وکلاء نا امیدنہ ہوں،آزاد عدلیہ کیلئے بس کچھ انتظار کریں، منزل سب کے سامنے ہے، 9اپریل کے شہیدوں کا خون رائیگاں نہیں جائے گا، جلد ہی پاکستان میں ایک طویل عرصہ کے بعد قانون کی حکمرانی ہوگی۔معزول چیف جسٹس افتخار محمد چوہدری نے وکلاء سے اپیل کی کہ وہ کسی انتہائی اقدام سے گریز کریں،تادم مرگ بھوک ہڑتال مناسب نہیں وکلاءکو امید رکھنی چاہیے کہ جمہوری قوتیں پارلیمنٹ میں اپنا کر دار ادا کریں گی اور ملزمان کے خلاف کارروائی ہوگی، اس مرحلے پر ہمیں آخری اقدام نہیں کر نا چاہیے ،عوام بھی ہمارے ساتھ ہیں۔انہوں نے کہاکہ وکلاء کی تحریک آخری مرحلے میں ہے اور قانون کی حکمرانی کے بعد تمام مسائل خود بخود حل ہو جائیں گے۔کراچی بار کے صدر محمود الحسن نے کہا کہ کراچی بار نے شیرافگن کے معاملہ کی مذمت کی تھی لیکن صدر پرویز مشرف نے 9 اپریل کے واقعے کو اس کا رد عمل قرار دے کر شرمناک حرکت کی ہے اس واقعے کا اصل مقصد وکلاء کی جدوجہدکو سبوتاڑ کرنا تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ وکلاء کی جدوجہد میں کبھی ایک شیشہ بھی نہیں ٹوٹا اس ہنگامہ کی فلم موجود ہے، اس کی مدد سے ملزمان کو گرفتار کیا جاسکتا۔ آگ لگانے میں وہ کیمیکل استعمال ہوا تھا وہ لال مسجد آپریشن میں بھی استعمال ہوا تھا جس سے دیواریں گر گئیں ۔انہوں نے کہا کہ جب بھی کوئی آمر ملک پر قبضہ کرتا تھا ہماری عدلیہ اس کی” بی“ ٹیم بنتی رہی، آج پہلا موقع ہے کہ عدلیہ خود یہ کہہ رہی ہے کہ ہم آزادانہ فیصلے دینا چاہتے ہیں، قوم کو اس سے فائدہ اٹھانا چاہئے۔ سابق صوبائی وزیر الطاف انڑ کو دو سال قبل ضمنی انتخابات کے دوران ضلع جام شورو میں پیپلزپارٹی کے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری کی بہن عذرا پیچوہو پر فائرنگ کرنے کے الزام میں ان کے گاوں علی آباد سے گرفتار کرلیاگیاہے ،سابقہ حکومت کے کسی بھی اعلیٰ عہدیدار کی یہ پہلی گرفتاری ہے جبکہ پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کی رکن قومی اسمبلی عذرا فضل پیچوہو نے کہا ہے کہ سندھ کے سابق وزیر الطاف انڑ کی گرفتاری انتقامی کارروائی نہیں،وہ سنگین نوعیت کے متعدد مقدمات میں مطلوب ہیں، انہوں نے جامشورو میں انتخابات کے موقع پر مجھ پر قاتلانہ حملہ کرایا۔تفصیلات کے مطابق منگل کی صبح پولیس کی بھاری نفری نے الطاف انڑکے آبائی گاوں علی آباد میں ان کی رہائش گاہ کامحاصرہ کرلیاجس کے بعد الطاف انڑ نے خود کوپولیس حکام کے حوالے کر دیا ۔ اس دوران الطاف انڑ کے حامیوں کی ایک بڑی تعداد بھی جائے وقوعہ پر پہنچ گئی اور انہوں نے الطاف انڑ کی حمایت اور حکومت کے خلاف نعرے لگائے ۔اس دوران اللہ آباد محلے میں ٹائروں کو آگ لگا کر راستے میں رکاوٹیں کھڑی کردی گئیں جبکہ الطاف انڑ کو لاڑکانہ پہنچانے کے بعد جامشورو پولیس کے حوالے کردیا جائے گا۔واضح رہے کہ د و سال قبل ضلع جام شورو کے بڈھا پور تھانے کی حدودمیں ضمنی انتخابات کی انتخابی مہم کے دوران بعض افراد نے عذرا پیچوہو اور ان کے دیگر ساتھیوں پر فائرنگ کی تھی، جس کے بعد ڈھا پور تھانے میں حاجی الطاف انڑ سمیت بعض افراد کے خلاف مقدمہ نمبر 3/2006 درج کیا گیا تھا، تاہم اسے حکومت کی ہدایات پر سیل کردیا گیا تھا۔7مارچ2008کویہ مقدمہ عذرا پیچوہو کی درخواست پر دوبارہ درج کیا گیا، جس کے بعد سابق صوبائی وزیر الطاف انڑ اور ان کے بعض دیگر ساتھیوں کے خلاف وارنٹ جاری کردےئے گئے ۔ دوسری جانب عذراپیچوہونے کہاکہ پیپلزپارٹی انتقامی کارروائیوں پر یقین نہیں رکھتی تاہم جو کوئی بھی مجرم ہے، اس کے ساتھ قانون کے مطابق سلوک کیا جائے گا۔ منگل کو پارلیمنٹ ہاو¿س میں وفاقی وزیر اطلاعات و نشریات شیری رحمن اور رکن قومی اسمبلی میر اعجاز جکھرانی کے ہمراہ پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہاکہ سندھ کے سابق صوبائی وزیر الطاف انڑ کے گارڈز نے الیکشن کے موقع پر مجھ پر قاتلانہ حملہ کیا، جس میں گاڑی بلٹ پروف ہونے کی وجہ سے میری جان بچ گئی۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ اس موقع پر الطاف انڑ خود اور مصری خان کھوسو ، قلندر خان کھوسو، غلام علی ملک چنگیزی سمیت اشتہاری مجرمان بھی موجود تھے۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ میں نے اس کے خلاف بطور رکن قومی اسمبلی تحریک استحقاق بھی جمع کرائی تھی اور ایف آئی آر درج کرانے کیلئے درخواست بھی دی، تاہم الطاف انڑ کے اثرورسوخ اور اس وقت کے وزیراعلیٰ ارباب غلام رحیم کی پشت پناہی کی وجہ سے ایف آئی آر درج نہیں کی گئی۔ عذرا فضل نے کہاکہ الطاف انڑ نجی ٹی وی کے رپورٹر کے قتل سمیت کئی سنگین نوعیت کے مقدمات میں ملوث ہیں، اس لئے ان کی گرفتاری عمل میں آئی کیونکہ اب کوئی مجرم قانون سے نہیں بچے گا۔ اس موقع پر وفاقی وزیر شیری رحمن نے کہاکہ سابق دور میں سندھ میں پیپلز پارٹی کے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری پر حملہ کیا گیا، الطاف انڑ کے خلاف بہت سے مقدمات درج ہیں اور ان کے عدالتوں نے نوٹس جاری کر رکھے ہیں، ان کے خلاف کوئی انتقامی کارروائی نہیں ہوئی، کیونکہ پیپلز پارٹی اور آصف علی زرداری سیاسی انتقام پر یقین نہیں رکھتے تاہم اگر کوئی مجرم ہے تو اس کے خلاف کارروائی ضرور ہوگی۔

پاکستان میں جمہوری اداروں کو مضبوط کرنے میں بھرپورمددکرینگے،امریکا

اے لا باما ... امریکانے کہا ہے کہ وہ پاکستان میں جمہوری اداروں کو مضبوط کرنے اور دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ میں پاکستان کی بھرپور انداز میں مدد کرے گا ۔امریکی وزیر خارجہ کونڈو لیزا رائس نے ریاست اے لا باما میں اعزازی ڈگری وصول کرنے کی تقریب سے خطاب میں کہاکہ امریکا پاکستان میں آزاد عدلیہ کے قیام ،قانون کی حکمرانی قائم کرنے اور آزاد میڈیا کے قیام کے لیے پاکستانی عوام کی کوششوں کی حمایت کرے گا ۔۔انہوں نے کہا کہ دہشتگردی کے خاتمے کے لیے امریکا پاکستان تعاون بہت ضروری ہے۔یہ ضروری ہے کہ امریکا پاکستان اور افغانستان میں عوامی اور جمہوری اداروں کی مضبوطی کے لیے کام کرے کیونکہ دہشت گردی کا جواب صرف طاقت ہی نہیں بلکہ ان حالات کو بھی ختم کرنا ہے جو دہشت گردی پھیلانے کا باعث بنتے ہیں ۔ایک سوال کے جواب میں امریکی وزیر خارجہ نے کہا کہ پاکستان کو اپنی فوج پرکنٹرول کرنے کے لیے ٹھو س سویلین ڈھانچہ قائم کرنا ہوگا ۔انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستانی عوام مبار ک باد کے مستحق ہیں کہ مشکل حالات کے بعد 18فروری کو ہونے والے انتخابات میں جمہوری طاقتوں کا ساتھ دیا اور انتہا پسندوں کی کمر توڑ کر ثابت کیا کہ پاکستانی جمہوریت پسند قوم ہیں ۔
