Military operation to be last option to stem militancy: PM

MULTAN: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani here Monday said that military operation will be the last option to stem militancy in the Frontier areas. Addressing a press conference at Multan Airport he said at the moment civilian government is taking action to deal with the militants and miscreants in THE troubled regions.
He said the army will be called only when the civilian government asks for its help and in that case too the military action will be in aid of the civilian government.
The Prime Minister said the incumbent coalition government did not enter into any agreement with any group in the Frontier areas. Rather, these agreements were reached by the previous government, he added.
He said the coalition government wanted to hold dialogue with those who want to give up militancy but due to the breach of previous agreements by the militants the government had to review its policy.
The Prime Minister said it was not possible to hold dialogue with those elements who kidnap innocent people, take citizens hostage, behead the abducted and set girls schools on fire.
He rejected as a total misconception the notion that the action against militants was being taken at the behest of the United States or Afghanistan. Our own internal security needs required the ongoing civilian government action against the militants, he added.
The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by his younger brother Syed Ahmed Mujtaba Gillani, MPA Ahmed Hassan Daher and PPP provincial information secretary Khawaja Rizwan Alam, said that he had a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistan and Afghanistan have unanimity of views on security issues.
He said Karzai’s recent remarks were quoted out of context and this created the impression of a threat to Pakistan which was not the case at all.
To a question regarding Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s observations about the operation, the Prime Minister said a strategic briefing had been arranged for the coalition partners and the Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kiani had briefed them about the issue. He said there was no difference of opinion among them.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan and United States enjoy very cordial and friendly relations which will further grow in the times to come.
He said in many areas like economy, social and health sectors the US is extending a lot of assistance to Pakistan. He said this morning US assistant secretary of state Richard Boucher called on him and both held comprehensive talks to further strengthen the cooperation between the two friendly countries.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said he expects to meet President George W. Bush on July 28 during his forthcoming visit to the US. He expressed the confidence that the relations between the two allies would be further bolstered as a result of his talks with the US president.
He said Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi during his recent visit to Delhi had conveyed his invitation to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who would pay an official visit to Islamabad very soon.
The Prime Minister said he himself might also attend the SAARC moot and meet his Indian counterpart on the sidelines of the conference.
To a question about the deposed judges, the Prime Minister said they were released by him and their salaries were paid by him. He assured that the judges would be reinstated.
The Prime Minister said the coalition government will remain intact and there was no threat to it at all.
About the hike in petrol and diesel prices he said the previous government had been giving heavy subsidy on oil thereby piling up the burden. He said the situation now was that the government had to pay subsidy of Rs 1.2 billion per day only on oil.
The Prime Minister said the World Bank, IMF and other donors were pressing the government to withdraw subsidies or face stoppage of financial assistance by them. So, he said the government had to take necessary steps.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said the unprecedented surge in international oil price and the cost of food items was a global phenomenon and Pakistan was no exception.
To a question about situation in Balochistan, the Prime Minister said he had released several imprisoned Baloch leaders and the coalition government was determined to rectify the past wrongs and discrimination meted out to this province. He said that Balochistan will get its due share and rights.
About the economic situation of the country he said it was heading in the right direction and the economy would be fortified by prudent policies.
He said the government would soon announce its incentives-oriented energy policy and hoped that it would attract massive foreign investment in the energy sector.
At the domestic level too the government is taking appropriate steps to increase power generation and augment energy conservation. He said the government was in touch with brotherly Iran to import energy.
Within the next one or two years the energy crisis will be over, the Prime Minister said.
About load-shedding in Multan, he said he would ask the minister for water and power to look into the matter.
To another question the Prime Minister said that the Parliament is sovereign and supreme and President Pervez Musharraf has himself said that he would accept the verdict of the Parliament about his fate.
Answering a question, he said the root-causes of the trouble in FATA and adjoining areas were hunger, poverty and unemployment and these ought to be addressed forthwith.
He said people there are peace-loving and they want healthcare facilities, employment, trade opportunities. He said appropriate measures are being contemplated to remove their deprivations.
The Prime Minister said that PPP had won seats in the by-elections and he disagreed with a questioner who stated that the PPP’s popularity graph was declining.
About the religious schools, he said they will be regulated so that along with religious education the students could acquire modern education too and successfully compete with their counterparts from conventional schools.

Pakistan desires to strengthen ties with US: Gilani

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday said Pakistan needs help and assistance from the United States to rebuild its economy and wants to strengthen the bilateral ties. Talking to a US Congressional delegation here at the Prime Minister House, he highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to its relations with the US.
He underscored the desire to deepen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including defence, trade, economy, energy and social sectors.
The Prime Minister told the delegation that the government’s foremost priorities include fighting extremism and terrorism in Pakistan’s own interest as well as rebuilding the economy.
He also apprised the members of Congress of the three-pronged counter-terrorism strategy.
Prime Minister Gilani underlined the need for accelerating the ROZs initiative stressing that it would help expand economic opportunities and generate jobs.
He also under-scored the vital interest Pakistan has in a stable Afghanistan.
He apprised the delegation of the steps taken by Pakistan to strengthen security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border as well as for the upkeep of 3 million Afghan refugees.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for the international community to support these efforts.
The members of the Congressional delegation highlighted the strategic importance of the US relations with Pakistan and reciprocated the desire to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.
They affirmed US readiness to support Pakistan in its efforts to address the security issues and to achieve economic progress over the long term.
They said that the US regards Pakistan as its important and strategic ally and is keen to closely work with the democratic government to help it overcome its economic problems.
They said that Pakistan is a linchpin in the region and wants to expand its bilateral cooperation in all areas including trade, investment and security matters.
The Congressional delegation included Senator Benjamin Cardin, Congressman Zach Wamp, Congressman Robert Aderholt, Congressman Mike McIntyre and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik, Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security Mahmud Durrani and Acting Secretary Foreign Affairs.

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ms. Sherry Rehman has said that the country was facing various challenges at international and regional fronts including economic one. She was addressing on the occasion of distribution of tricycle, tri-motorcycle and donation amount cheques among the disabled.
The event was organised by the Disable Welfare Association at the Dr. Pinto Compound, the birth place of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, here on Monday.
Information Minister said that the sacrifice presented by the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto will not go waste.
Ms. Sherry Rehman informed that she she was also born in the Dr. Pinto Compound (Dr. Pinto Nursing Home) and the Dr. Pinto was a very famous doctor that time.
The Federal Minister also raised the slogans “Zinda Hai Bibi, Zinda Hai (Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto is alive).
She said the flag of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), is hoisted in the power corridors after the period of 12 years and we have to provide relief to the down-trodden and deprived factions in the society.
Ms. Sherry Rehman said that the government has designed “the Cash Transfer Scheme” under Benazir Program, for the first in the history of the country.
The Federal Minister said that the dictators have always handed down a weak Pakistan to the PPP.
Ms. Sherry Rehman said our mission is to remain available for the people among them.
The Federal Minister said that in coming days, the PPP Karachi Division led by the PPP Karachi Division President, Syed Faisal Raza Abidi will resolve the problems of the masses.
She said that the message and the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was with us and the government will fulfill every promise it made with the masses.
Ms. Sherry Rehman also advised the Office Bearers of Disabled Welfare Association to present their written application about their problems.
Later, the Federal Minister handed over the keys of the tri-cycles and the tri-motorcycles to the disabled.
Earlier, the President, Disable Welfare Association, Javaid Raees, apprised the gathering about the activities and achievements of the body.
Among others, Advisor to Sindh CM, Rashid Hussain Rabbani and President PPP, Karachi Division, Syed Faisal Raza Abidi also spoke.
Later, the PPP leader, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig announced to establish a museum at Dr. Pinto Compound, where, he apprised the pictures and books about Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto will be displayed.

U.S. Congressional delegation calls on President

ISLAMABAD : A US congressional delegation on Monday discussed bilateral relations, Pakistan-U.S. counter-terrorism cooperation and regional situation with President Pervez Musharraf in Rawalpindi. President Musharraf underlined the importance Pakistan attached to its relations with the U.S. He reiterated Pakistan ‘s firm resolve to fighting terrorism and extremism.
In this regard, the President highlighted government’s comprehensive, multi-pronged strategy combining political, military and socio-economic development measures.

The President appreciated congressional support for Pakistan’s counter-terrorism initiatives, namely FATA Development Plan, Reconstruction Opportunity Zones (ROZs) and capacity building of the Frontier Corps (FC).
He emphasized the need for market access for Pakistani products in the U.S.
The congressmen conveyed their support for the strategic relationship between Pakistan and the United States.
They appreciated Pakistan’s commitment to combating extremism, and reaffirmed their support for Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and social development goals, and called for strengthening the strategically important relationship.
The bipartisan delegation led by Senator Benjamin Cardin (Democrat-Maryland) includes congressmen Zach Wamp (Republican-Tennessee), Robert Aderholt (Republican-Alabama), Mike McIntyre (Democrat-North Carolina) and congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (Democrat-California).

Benazir Bhutto honoured with prestigious award

ISLAMABAD : Former Prime Minister Mohterma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed was posthumously awarded the prestigious “Prix de La Fondation” award at Monaco, says a message received here Monday. The award was received by her daughter Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari on her behalf. The “Prix de La Fondation” is awarded by Crans Montana Forum, based in Monaco and is given to modern figures of peace, liberty and democracy. One of its characteristics is that people are awarded the prize during their lifetime although certain martyrs of liberty who have played role in world history have also been awarded the prize posthumously.
Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, while addressing the gathering, after receiving the award said, “it goes without saying that I wish that she were here - standing where I am now to receive the award. I know she would have been greatly honoured to have been recognized amongst so many other world leaders. As you know my mother was a martyr for liberty.
She returned to Pakistan last year to contest election in order to enable Pakistan to resume, once more, a democratic system of government.
She knew that in returning to Pakistan she was putting her life at risk”. She added that her mother repeatedly stated that where there is dictatorship the forces of extremism can flourish and that is why she believed passionately in democracy.
Finally she said that on December 27 last year she died among the people she loved and who loved her. She thanked Crans Montana for honouring her mother with this award and said that it was also a great honour for her family, her father Asif Ali Zardari, her brother Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and her sister Asifa Bhutto Zardari.
Earlier Professor Jean-Paul Carteron, Chairman Crans Montana Forum praised Mohterma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed for her courage, her deep respect for the fundamental values of democracy and her desire to create a better world.
He said that he was sure that her great sacrifice would not go waste and that the people of Pakistan will see Madam Bhutto’s dream of “grand Pakistan” come true. He hoped that the torch of Benazir Bhutto will be held aloft.
Among the other dignitaries who were given the Prix de La Fondation award included President of the Republic Sierra Leone Ernest Bai Koroma, Prime Minister of Morocco Abbas El Fassi, farmer Prime Minister of France Alain Juppe, Chief of the National League for Democracy in Burma Aung San Suu Kyi and Chairman King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies Saudi Arabia H.R.H. Prince Turki Al Faisal Al Saud.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to France, Asma Anisa, Secretary General PPP Jahangir Badar and other senior PPP leaders including the Party’s representatives in Europe and USA also attended the award ceremony.

Govt working on war-footing to resolve masses problems: Sherry Rehman

KARACHI : The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ms. Sherry Rehman said on Monday said that overnment was working on war-footing to resolve problems confronting the masses. She was talking to media at the inaugural of beautification and construction of Bilawal Chowrangi, situated near Bilawal House here.
Later, the Minister unveiled the plaque in this connection.
Talking to newsmen, the Minister for Information said the PPP government will carry forward the mission of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
She said we will maintain balance in state institutions and we have strengthened democracy.
Replying to a question about inflation, Ms. Sherry Rehman said that inflation, electricity crisis and different other problems were the gifts of the previous government.
The Federal Minister said that different measures were being taken by the government including the steps about exemption to working class in increase in gas price to provide relief to the people.
To another query, Ms. Sherry Rehman said that no one was expelled from Pakistan Peoples Party and we want to move with all.
She said that electricity crisis will be resolved by next year by increasing production.
Ms. Sherry Rehman said we were trying that problems be resolved through parliament.
Besides, women PPP activists in large number, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister, Rashid Hussain Rabbani and President, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Karachi Division, Syed Faisal Raza Abidi were also present.

اسلام آباد: وفاقی حکومت نے قدرتی گیس کی قیمت میں اکتیس اور سی این جی کی قیمتوں میں تینتیس فیصد اضافہ کر دیا ہے نئی قیمتوں کا اطلاق کل سے ہو گا۔ وفاقی وزیر پیٹرولیم و قدرتی وسائل شاہ محمود قریشی نے پریس کانفرنس میں بتایا کہ گیس کی نئی قیمتوں کا اطلاق آئی پی پیز اور ماہانہ دو سو کیوبک میٹر گیس استعمال کرنے والے صارفین پر نہیں ہو گا۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ حکومت اب بھی صارفین کو پینتیس ارب بیس کروڑ روپے کی سبسڈی فراہم کر رہی ہے۔ شاہ محمود قریشی نے بتایا کہ عام تندور کو کمرشل کٹیگری سے نکال کر گھریلو صارف میں شامل کیا گیا ہے جس سے ان کے بلوں میں بچت ہو گی۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ سی این جی کی قیمت میں تیرہ روپے فی کلو اضافہ ہو گا۔ وزیر پیٹرولیم نے بتایا کہ حکومت نے آئل کمپنیوں کے دو سو چھیاسی ارب روپے کے واجبات اور بنکوں کا اکیاون ارب روپے کا قرضہ بھی کلیئر کر دیا گیا ہے۔

پیپلزپارٹی کےمرکزی رہنماء مخدوم امین فہیم نے کہا ہے کہ ان کی جماعت کے اندر نئے اور پرانے لوگوں کےدرمیان ایک لکیر کھینچ دی گئی ہے۔ موجودہ حکومت میں پیپلزپارٹی کے نئے لوگ شامل ہیں جبکہ ان کا نئے لوگوں سےکوئی تعلق نہیں ہے۔
انہوں نے یہ باتیں حیدرآباد میں اتوار اور پیر کی درمیانی شب شکار کھیلنے سے متعلق ایک کتاب کی تقریب رونمائی سےخطاب کے بعد میڈیا کے نمائندوں سےگفتگو کرتے ہوئے کئیں۔
مخدوم امین فہیم کا کہنا تھا کہ انہوں نے ایسا کوئی کام نہیں کیا جس کی وجہ سے جماعت میں اختلافات پیدا ہوجائیں اگر انہیں شوکاز نوٹس بھیجا گیا تو دیکھا جائیگا۔
مخدوم امین فہیم نے کہا کہ عوام مہنگائی، لوڈشیڈنگ اور بیروزگاری جیسے مسائل سے دوچار ہے۔ حکومت کو صرف باتیں نہیں عملی طور پر عوام کے ریلیف کے لیے کچھ اقدامات کرنے ہونگے۔
انہوں نے ان افواہوں کی تردید کی کہ انہیں صدر مملکت بنایا جا رہا ہے۔ مخدوم امین فہیم کا کہنا تھا کہ وہ کسی حکومتی عہدے کےامیدوار نہیں ہیں۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ پیپلزپارٹی کوبینظیر بھٹو اور ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کےوضع کردہ اصولوں کے تحت چلانا ہوگا۔
بینظیر بھٹو کی سالگرہ اکیس جون کی مناسبت سے راولپنڈی میں جو مشاعرہ ناہید خان اور صفدر عباسی کی میزبانی میں منعقد کیا گیا تھا اس کو بعض حلقے زرداری کےمنحرفیں کا اجتماع سمجھتے ہیں۔ اس مشاعرے میں مخدوم امین فہیم اور اعتزاز احسن شریک ہوئے تھے مگر پیپلزپارٹی سے وابستہ کسی وزیر مشیر نے مشاعرے میں شرکت نہیں کی تھی۔
پیپلزپارٹی کے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری نے نوڈیرو میں بینظیر بھٹو کی سالگرہ کےموقع اپنی پریس بریفنگ میں ایک سوال کےجواب میں کہا تھا کہ ہوسکتا ہے وزیروں کو مشاعرے کی دعوت نہ ہو مگر مشاعرہ کرنے والوں سے کوئی ناراضگی نہیں۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ اگر وقت کا یزید بھی بینظیر کا نام لے تو انہیں خوشی ہوتی ہے۔
پیپلزپارٹی کے ایک مرکزی رہنماء نے پیپلزپارٹی کے اندر ان اختلافات کو اندرونی کشمکش قرار دیا۔ انہوں نے اپنا نام ظاہر نہ کرنے کی گزارش کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پیپلزپارٹی نئے اور پرانے لوگوں میں منقسم ہو چکی ہے۔
انہوں کئی سیاسی محفلوں میں دہرائی گئی مثال دیتے ہوئےکہا کہ آصف زرداری نے ان لوگوں کو اپنے قریب اور مرکزی کردار بنایا جن کو پورے ملک میں اپنا ذاتی حلقہ نہیں۔ انہوں نے نام لیتے ہوئے کہا کہ مشیر داخلہ رحمان ملک، وزیراطلاعات شیری رحمان اور وزیر قانون فاروق ایچ نائیک پیپلزپارٹی کےنئے مالکان میں شمار ہوتے ہیں مگر انہیں عوامی پذیرائی اور حلقہ نہیں۔
ان کا خیال تھا کہ پرانی پیپلزپارٹی سے وابستہ رہنماء کسی جلدی میں نہیں ہیں اور وہ صبر سے نئی پیپلزپارٹی کے رہنماؤں کے حکومتی کردار کو دیکھیں گے اور ہلکی پھلکی تنقید کرتے رہیں گے۔ انہوں نے فیصلہ عوام پر چھوڑا ہے کہ وہ پیپلزپارٹی نئے لوگوں کو پسند کرتے ہیں یا پرانے لوگوں کو۔

لنڈی کوتل۔ خیبر ایجنسی کی تحصیل باڑہ میں مذہبی تنظیم امر بالمعروف کے مرکز پر میزائل گرنے سے آٹھ افراد ہلاک جبکہ چھ زخمی ہو گئے ،نامعلوم جگہ سے فائرہونے والے میزائل نے دو منزلہ عمارت کو زمین بوس کر دیا ،زخمیوں کو پشاور کے ہسپتالوں میں منتقل کر دیاگیا ۔تفصیلات کے مطابق خیبر ایجنسی کی تحصیل باڑہ میں واقع برقمبر خیل میں علی الصبح مذہبی تنظیم امر بالمعروف کے مرکز پر نامعلوم جگہ سے فائر کیاگیا ایک میزائل لگنے سے آٹھ افراد ہلاک جبکہ چھ شدید زخمی ہو گئے ۔آزاد ذرائع سے ہلاکتوں کی تعداد بارہ بتائی جا رہی ہے ۔زخمیوں کو پشاور کے ہسپتالوں میں منتقل کیاگیا ہلاک ہونے والوں کا تعلق امر بالمعروف کے رضا کاروں سے بتایا جا رہا ہے تاہم بعض ذرائع کے مطابق اس عمارت میں امر بالمعروف کی نجی جیل تھی اور مرنے والوں میں زیادہ تعداد قیدیوں کی تھی میزائل کا حملہ اتنا شدید تھا کہ دو منزلہ عمارت زمین بوس ہو گئی اور ہلاک ہونے والوں کی لاشیں بری طرح مسخ ہو چکی تھیں ۔مناسب انتظامات نہ ہونے کے باعث لاشیں نکالنے کی امدادی کاروائیوں میں سخت مشکلات کا سامنا کرنا پڑا ۔ایک نجی چینل کو انٹر ویو دیتے ہوئے تنظیم کے امیر حاجی نامدار نے کہا کہ وہ اپنے شہیدوں کے خون کا بدلہ لیں گے ۔انہوں نے کہا کہ حملے سے متعدد قرآن پاک کے نسخے بھی شہید ہو چکے ہیں ۔

نیویارک۔ امریکی کانگریس کے ارکان نے گزشتہ سال کے اواخر میں صدر جارج بش کی طرف سے ایران کے خلاف بہت بڑی خفیہ فوجی کارروائیوں کے لیے فنڈز کی درخواست کو منظور کرنے سے اتفاق کر لیا تھا۔ خفیہ کاروائیوں کا مقصد ایران کی قیادت کو ختم کرنا تھا۔ نیو یارکر میگزین میں شائع شدہ اطلاع میں یہ بات کہی گئی۔ سیمور ہرش کے شائع شدہ مضمون میں انتہائی رازدارانہ صدارتی فائل کا حوالہ دیا گیا ہے جس پر جارج بش کے دستخط ہیں۔ امریکی قانون کے مطابق راز کی اس دستاویز کو ڈیموکریٹ اور ریپیبلکن ارکان کانگریس کے علاوہ انٹلی جنس کمیٹیوں کے سینئر ارکان کو واقف کرانا لازمی ہے۔ اس دستاویز میں ایران کے نیو کلیر عزائم کو کمزور کرنے اور حکومت کو تبدیلی کے ذریعہ ایرانی حکومت کو کمزور بنانے کی کوششوں کا ذکر کیا گیا ہے۔ سیمور ہرش نے اس دستاویز کے مواد سے جانکاری رکھنے والے ایک شخص کے حوالے سے یہ بات کہی۔مذکورہ شخص کے بارے میں ہرش نے بتایا کہ وہ اپوزیشن اور رقومات کی منتقلی کے کاموں میں ملوث تھا۔ ہرش نے ماضی میں ایران کو نیو کلیر ہتھیار بنانے سے روکنے کی غرض سے بش نظم و نسق کے جنگی منصوبوں کے امکانات کا بھی انکشاف کیا تھا۔۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ایران کی حکومت کو تبدیل کرنا چاہیے سفارتی طریقہ سے ہو یا فوجی وسائل سے جارج بش کا حتمی نصب العین تھا۔ اس کام کے لیے جارج بش نے کانگریس سے40کروڑ ڈالر کی رقم منظور کرنے کی درخواست کی تھی جسے کانگریسی قائدین نے منظور بھی کر لیا تھا۔ ہرش نے اپنے اس مضمون میں سابق اور موجودہ ملٹری ، انٹیلی جنس اور کانگریسی ذرائع کے حوالے سے یہ اطلاع دی ۔

راولپنڈی ۔ راولپنڈی میں پاک فوج کے جوائنٹ سٹاف ہیڈ کوارٹرز میں فوجی قیادت اور قومی سلامتی کے عسکری اداروں کے سربراہوں کااہم اجلاس ہوا۔ چےئرمین جوائنٹ چیفس آف سٹاف کمیٹی جنرل طارق مجید کی سربراہی میں ہونے والے اجلاس میں آرمی چیف جنرل اشفاق پرویز کیانی ، ائر چیف مارشل تنویر محمود احمد ، پاک بحریہ کے سربراہ ایڈمرل افضل طاہر اور قومی سلامتی کے عسکری اداروں کے سربراہوں نے شرکت کی ۔ اجلاس میں خارجی اور داخلی سلامتی کی صورتحال سرحدوں کے حالات اور علاقائی سٹریٹجک صورتحال پر غور کیاگیا

مری ۔ مری کے علاقے خوشی کوٹ سے باڑیاں جانے والی ایک جیپ گہری کھائی میں جا گری جس سے گیارہ افراد جاں بحق اور متعدد افراد زخمی ہو گئے ۔ تفصیلات کے مطابق پیر کی صبح خوشی کوٹ سے باڑیاں جانے والی جیپ ڈرائیور سے بے قابو ہو کر گہری کھائی میں جا گری جس کی وجہ سے گیارہ افراد موقع پر ہی جاں بحق ہو گئے ۔ اطلاع ملنے پر امدادی ٹیمیں جائے حادثہ پر پہنچ گئیں اور امدادی کام شروع کر دیا ۔ بعض ذرائع کا کہنا ہے کہ جیپ میں سوار تمام افراد جاں بحق ہو گئے ہیں ۔ تاہم فوری طور پر معلوم نہیں ہو سکا کہ جیپ میں کل کتنے افراد سوار تھے

حکومت بیرونی قوتوں کو ملک کے اندر مداخلت کا بہانہ فراہم کر رہی ہے ، قاضی حسین احمد

پشاور ۔ امیر جماعت اسلامی قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاہے کہ حکومت بیرونی طاقتوں کو پاکستان کے اندرمداخلت کرنے کا بہانہ فراہم کر رہی ہے اور پشاور پر طالبان کے قبضے کے خطرے کی افواہیں حکومتی ارکان نے خواہ مخواہ اڑائی ہیں۔ حالانکہ پشاور کو کوئی خطرہ نہیں اور نہ ہی طالبان پشاور پر قبضے کی اہلیت رکھتے ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اصل خطرہ افعانستان میں موجود غیر ملکی فوجوں سے ہے ۔ پیر کو یہاں پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ پشاور کو کوئی خطرہ نہیں ہے بلکہ حکومت ارکان نے بلا وجہ ہوائی اڑائی ہے جس کے باعث پوری دنیا میں تشویش پیدا ہو گئی ہے اور مصر اور دوسرے ملکوں سے فون آنے لگے کہ کیا ہو رہاہے کیا پاکستان پرحملہ ہونے والاہے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ طالبان کو ایک ہوا بنا کر پیش کیا جارہا ہے حالانکہ ایک مدت سے امریکا کا منصوبہ ہے کہ پاکستان کے اندر بالعموم اورقبائلی علاقوں صوبہ سرحد اور بلوچستان میں مداخلت کابہانہ تلاش کیا جائے ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہا کہ بار بار ہم یہ کہہ رہے ہیں کہ امریکا نہ تو دوست ہے اور نہ ہی اس کے ارادے نیک ہیں بلکہ وہ پاکستان کے ایٹمی پروگرام کا مخالف ہے ۔ اسلامی نظریے کا مخالف ہے اور ایک مخود مختار اسلامی جمہوریہ پاکستان اس کی نظروں میں کھٹکتا ہے کیونکہ وہ اپنا دفاع خود کر سکتا ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ نیٹو افواج کی افغانستان میں موجودگی پاکستان کے لیے خطرہ ہے اور وہ بہانہ تلاش کر رہی ہے لیکن بد قسمتی سے حکومت پاکستان غلط پالیسیوں کی وجہ سے انہیں یہ بہانہ فراہم کر رہی ہے اور ان کی حکمت عملی یہ ہے کہ پہلے مرحلے میں پاکستانی افواج پاکستانی قبائل اور اسلامی تحریکوںکو نشانہ بنایا جائے اور انہیں آپس میں لڑایا جائے اور غلط فہمیاں پیدا کی جائیں ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ فوج اور عوام کو ایک دوسرے کاحریف بنایا جارہاہے ۔ انہوںنے کہاکہ پشاور کو کوئی بیرونی خطرہ نہیں ہے۔ طالبان ہمارے لیے کوئی خطرہ نہیں ہیں اور نہ ہی ملک کے دشمن ہیں۔ امیر جماعت اسلامی نے کہا کہ حقیقت تو یہ ہے کہ تمام خرابیاں حکمران خود پیدا کر رہے ہیں اور ملک میں بے بنیاد افواہیں پھیلا رہے ہیں ۔ اور اپنی ذمہ داریوں پر پردہ ڈال رہے ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ حکومت مہنگائی اور جرائم کے خاتمے کے سلسلے میں چشم پوشی کر رہی ہے ۔ اور اسی وجہ سے اضطراب پیدا ہو رہا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ موٹر وے پر کروڑوں کی ڈاکہ زنی حکومت کی ملی بھگت کے بغیر ممکن ہی نہیں ہے۔ ملک کے کونے کونے میں ڈاکے پڑ رہے ہیں چوریاں ہو رہی ہیں ۔ اور قتل و غارت گری جاری ہے ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہا کہ قبائلی علاقوں پر افغانستان سے میزائل داغے جارہے ہیں اور دھماکوں کا سلسلہ بھی جاری ہے ۔ جو حکومت کی نا اہلی کا منہ بولتا ثبوت ہے ۔انہوں نے کہا کہ ضرورت اس امر کی ہے کہ امن و امان برقرار رکھا جائے اور غریب عوام کو مہنگائی سے نجات دلائی جائے ۔ فوج اور عوام میں ہم آہنگی اور اتحاد پیدا کیا جائے تاکہ بیرونی دشمنوں کا راستہ روکا جا سکے ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہا کہ طالبان کسی بھی طرح پشاور پر قبضہ کرنے کی اہلیت نہیں رکھتے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ مشیر داخلہ رحمان ملک ایک طرف کہتے ہیں کہ حکومت جاگ رہی ہے عوام سو جائیں۔ حالانکہ عوام تو جاگ رہے ہیں اور حکومت خود سوئی ہوئی ہے ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے مطالبہ کیا کہ پاکستان کی داخلہ پالیسی کی اصلاح کرنی چاہیے اور امریکا کے ساتھ اتحاد ختم کرناچاہیے ۔ اور ملک کو مہنگائی کے سیلاب سے بچایا جائے ۔

وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی سے امریکی نائب وزیر خارجہ رچرڈ باؤچر کی ملاقات

اسلام آباد ۔ وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی سے پیر کو اسلام آباد میں امریکی نائب وزیر خارجہ رچرڈ باؤچر نے ملاقات کی ۔ پاکستان میں تعینات امریکی سفیر این ڈبلیو پیٹرسن اور مشیر داخلہ رحمن ملک بھی ملاقات میں موجود تھے۔ ذرائع کے مطابق ملاقات میں پاک امریکہ تعلقات ‘ معاشی اقتصادی دفاعی شعبوں مین تعاون ‘ وزیراعظم پاکستان کے دورہ امریکہ ‘صوبہ سرحد اور فاٹا کی صور تحال ‘ پاک افغان سرحدات اور قبائلی علاقوں میں سیکورٹی فورسز سے متعلق امور پر تبادلہ خیال ہوا۔دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ اور اس ضمن میںپاکستان کے اقدامات ‘ دہشت گردوں کی سرکوبی کے لیے خفیہ ملاقات کے تبادلے ‘ مہمند ایجنسی میں اتحادی افواج کی حالیہ بمباری سے متعلق امور پر بھی گفتگو ہوئی ۔ ذرائع کے مطابق امریکہ عہدیدار کا یہ دورہ امریکہ اور نیٹو کی مہمند ایجنسی میں بمباری کے نتیجے میں پائی جانے والی تلخی کے ازالے کے لیے کے تناظر مین تھا اور وزیراعظم سے بھی اس حوالے سے ملاقات کی گئی اور تلخی اور غلط فہمیوں کو ختم کرنے کی کوشش کی گئی ہے ۔ دو طرفہ تعاون کو مزید فروغ دینے پر اتفاق کیا گیا ہے ۔

سپریم کورٹ کے فل بینچ نے نواز شریف نااہلی کیس کی سماعت دو ہفتوں کے لیے ملتوی کر دی

اسلام آباد ۔ سپریم کورٹ میں پاکستان مسلم لیگ ن کے قائد اور سابق وزیراعظم میاں محمد نواز شریف کی انتخابات کے حوالے سے نا اہلیت کے خلاف وفاق اور نواز شریف کے تائید و تجویز کنندگان کی یکجا درخواست کی سماعت دو ہفتوں کے لیے ملتوی کر دی گئی ہے ۔ آج سپریم کورٹ کے جسٹس موسی لغاری کی سربراہی میں فل بینچ میں درخواست کی مختصر سماعت ہوئی اس مختصر سماعت میں اعتراض کنندہ خرم شاہ کے وکیل احمد رضا قصوری نے اعتراض اٹھایا کہ وفاق کو نواز شریف کی نااہلی پر پٹیشن دائر کرنے کا اختیار نہیں ہے ۔ سماعت کے بعد ڈپٹی اٹارنی جنرل راجہ عبد الرحمان نے میڈیا سے بات چیت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ہم نے سپریم کورٹ سے کہا ہے کہ نواز شریف کے معاملے پر عوام کی رائے کو مقدم رکھا جائے ۔ نواز شریف ضمنی انتخاب لڑنے کے اہل ہیں۔ نواز شریف نا اہلی کیس صرف نا اہلیت کا مسئلہ نہیں بلکہ قائد کی وضاحت کا معاملہ ہے کہ ہائی کورٹ اس کا فیصلہ کر سکتی ہے یا نہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ انتخابات کے حوالے سے پٹیشن کی انتخابی ٹربیونل کی سماعت ہوتی ہے ۔ جو الیکشن کمیشن تشکیل دیتا ہے ۔بعد ازاں سپریم کورٹ سے رجوع کیا جاتاہے ۔

پرویز مشرف کی موجودگی میں مسلم لیگ(ن) کو پنجاب حکومت ملنا معجزہ ہے ۔ چوہدری نثار علی خان

واہ کینٹ ۔ پاکستان مسلم لیگ (ن) کے مرکزی رہنما و مستعفی سینئر وزیر چوہدری نثار علی خان نے کہا ہے کہ پنجاب میں پرویز مشرف کی موجودگی میں مسلم لیگ(ن) کو حکومت ملنا خدا کا معجزہ ہے ۔ ہمارے وہم وگمان میں بھی نہ تھا کہ ہم قومی اسمبلی اور پنجاب اسمبلی میں اتنی کامیابی حاصل کرلیںگے۔ اگلا الیکشن مسلم لیگ(ن) کا ہو گا۔ اس حکومت کو زینہ بنا کر ہم نے اگلے الیکشن کی تیاری کرنی ہے ۔ ان خیالات کا اظہار انہوں نے ٹی ایم اے آفس ٹیکسلا میں منعقدہ ایک کھلی کچہری سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا ۔ اس موقع پر سابق ایم پی اے حاجی عمر فاروق ‘ ملک ممتاز خان ‘ حاجی محمد امتیاز ‘ ملک مصری خان ‘ حاجی دلدار خان ‘ سفیر خان ‘ ضلعی وتحصیل افسران ‘پولیس ‘واپڈا اور محکمہ مال کے اہلکار بھی موجود تھے۔ سابق وفاقی وزیر نے کہا کہ پاکستان کی تاریخ میں ایسی مثال نہیں ملتی کہ کوئی وفاقی وزارتوں سے اصولوں کی خاطر مستعفی ہو ۔ لیکن مسلم لیگ(ن) نے عدلیہ کی بحالی کی خاطر پندرہ وفاقی وزارتوں سے استعفی دیا ۔ حالانکہ میرے پاس نائب وزیراعظم کے اختیارات تھے۔ لیکن اصولوں کی خاطر میں نے سب سے پہلے اپنا استعفی پیش کیا ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہماری روایات انصاف پر مبنی ہیں ۔ ہمارے دور حکومت میںلوگوں کو تھانے میں بلا کر پارٹیاں بدلنے پر مجبور نہیںکیا جائے گا۔پولیس کو ظالم کے خلاف مظلوم کی داد رسی کے لیے استعمال کیا جائے گا۔ اور حلقہ سے لینڈ مافیا و قبضہ گروپ کا خاتمہ کیا جائے گا۔ اگر قبضہ گروپ کے کسی فردکا(ن) لیگ سے تعلق ہوا تو اس کے خلاف بھی ایکشن لیا جائے گا۔ مظلوم کو انصاف دیں گے لیکن کسی کی سیاسی ٹھیکیداری نہیں چلنے دیں گے۔ تمام افسران اپنا قبلہ درست کرلیں اور لوگوں کی عزت نفس کا خیال رکھاجائے ۔ ظلم کی بات سن کر میرا خون کھول اٹھتا ہے لیکن ہم مجبور ہیں حکومت ہماری نہیں بلکہ پیپلزپارٹی کی ہے ۔ لیکن جو کچھ میرا بس میں ہے وہ ضرور کروں گا۔ پرویز مشرف نے ملک کے حالات بہت خراب کر رکھے ہیں ان کے دور میں مسجدوں پر حملے ہو ئے ۔ حالات کو معمول پر لانے کے لیے کچھ وقت درکار ہے ۔ کھلی کچہری میں سب سے زیادہ شکایات پولیس کے خلاف ہوئیں ۔ دوسرے نمبر پر لینڈ مافیا کے خلاف لوگوں نے شکایات کے انبار لگادئیے ۔ محکمہ مال ‘ سوئی گیس اور واپڈا کے خلاف بھی لوگوں نے کھل کر بات کی ۔ سابق وفاقی وزیر نے تمام لوگوں سے درخواستیں لیں ۔ اور ان پرعملدرآمد کی یقین دہانی کروائی اور متعلقہ افسران کو تنبیہہ کی کہ وہ ہرحال میں مظلوم کا ساتھ دیں ۔ ورنہ ان کے خلاف سخت ایکشن لیا جائے گا۔ سابق وفاقی وزیر نے کھلی کچہری کے انتظامات پر عدم اطمینان کا اظہار کیا ۔ واضح رہے کہ موصوف خود تین گھنٹے کی تاخیر سے پہنچے اور لوگ شدید گرمی میں ان کا انتظار کرتے رہے ۔

راولپنڈی ۔ راولپنڈی میں دو زور دار دھماکوں کی آواز پر عوام میں شدید خوف ہراس پھیل گیا۔ دھماکوں کے فوراً بعد وفاقی دارالحکومت سمیت جڑواں شہروں میں سیکورٹی سخت کر دی گئی۔ قانون نافذ کرنے والے ادارے، سیکورٹی فورسز اور میڈیا کے نمائندے فوری طور پر حرکت میں آ گئے۔ دھماکوں کی جگہ اور نوعیت کا تعین نہ ہو سکا۔دھماکوں کے وقت صدر پرویز مشرف امریکی کانگریس کے وفد سے ملاقات کر رہے تھے جبکہ امریکی نائب وزیر خارجہ بھی پاکستان میں موجود تھے اور راولپنڈی آرمی ہاؤس میں پاک فوج کا اعلی سطح کا اجلاس جاری تھا۔تفصیلات کے مطابق آج راولپنڈی اسلام آباد یں صبح10بجے کر 58منٹ پردو زور دار دھماکوں کی آواز سنی گئی دھماکے اتنے شدید تھے کہ راولپنڈی میں بعض عمارتوں کے شیشے ٹوٹ گئے۔ دھماکوں کے فوراً بعد جڑوان شہروں میں سیکورٹی اور قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں نے گشت شروع کر دیا جکبہ میڈیا کے نمائندے بھی دھماکے کی جگہ کا تعین کرتے رہے دونوں شہروں میں حساس مقامات پرسیکورٹی کو سخت کر دیا گیا۔ دھماکوں کے فوراً بعد ریسکیو 15 اور 1122 کے نمبر کچھ دیر کے لیے بند ہو گئے عوام میں بے چینی اور خوف و ہراس پھیل گیا لوگ میڈیا،1122اور ریسکیو15 کے دفاتر میں فون کر کے دھماکوں کے حوالے سے پوچھتے رہے لیکن دھماکوں کی جگہ کا تعین نہ ہو سکا۔ دوپہر 12بجے تمام سیکورٹی اداروں اور تھانوں نے راولپندی اسلام آباد کے علاقوں کو کلیئر قرار دیتے ہوئے یہاں پر دھماکے کے ہونے کی تردید کر دی۔ عوام میں خوف و ہراس برقرار رہا اور یہ افوہیں گردش کرتی رہیں کہ یہ دھماکہ آرمی ہاؤس، ایئر پورٹ ، راولپنڈی کچہری ، جی ایچ کیو کے قریب یا عمار چوک، قاسم مارکیٹ ، ڈھوک رتہ، ریلوے کیرج فیکٹری یا مری بروی میں ہوئے ہیں۔ اس موقع پر ہلال احمر ، ایدھی، فائر بریگیڈ کی گاڑیاں راولپنڈی چھاؤنی سمیت تمام علاقوں میں چکر لگاتی رہیں اسی دوران عوام میں یہ افواہ بھی گردش کرنے لگی کہ یہ دھماکے کہوٹہ میں کسی حساس ادارے میں ہوئے ہیں بلکہ یہ افواہ یہاں تک مشہور ہو گئی کہ بحریہ ٹاؤن گلزار قائد تک بارود کی بدبو محسوس کی جا رہی ہے۔ راولپنڈی ، اسلام آباد کے تمام ہسپتالوں میں ایمرجنیسی نافذ کر دی گئی۔لیکن یہ تمام افواہیں غلط ثابت ہوئیں۔ واضح رہے کہ یہ دھماکے ایسے وقت میں ہوئے ہیں جب خیبر ایجنسی کے قبائلی علاقوں میں وہاں کی عسکری تنظمیوں لشکر اسلام، لشکر انصار اور نہی عن المنکر کے خلاف آپریشن جاری ہے اور ان کے ہیڈ کواٹرز کو دھماکوں سے اڑا دیا گیا ہے ۔ یہاں ایک اور بات بھی قابل ذکر ہے کہ جس وقت یہ دھماکے ہوئے تو صدر پرویز مشرف صدارتی کیمپ آفس میں امریکی سینٹرز کے وفد سے ملاقات کر رہے تھے اور امریکی نائب وزیر خارجہ رچرڈ باؤ چر پاکستان کے دورے پر آئے ہوئے تھے جہنیں کچھ ہی دیر بعد وزیر اعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی سے ملاقات کرنا تھی۔ دھماکوں کے وقت راولپنڈی آرمی ہاؤس میں ملک میں امن و امان کی صورت حال اور خیبر ایجنسی میں جاری آپریشن پر غور و خوض کے لیے جوائنٹ چیفس آف سٹاف کمیٹی جنرل طارق مجید کیانی کے صدرات میں پاک فوج کا اعلیٰ سطح کا اجلاس جاری تھا جس میں تینوں افواج کے سربراہان شریک تھے۔ بعض ذرائع نے یہ بھی دعویٰ کیا کہ دھماکوں کی آواز ساونڈبیریئر ہو سکتا ہے تاہم بعد حکام کی طرف سے اس کی تردید کر دی گئی ۔

نئی دہلی ۔ بھارت میں دہشت گردی کے بے بنیاد الزامات عائد کرنے کے خلاف مسلمانوں نے ملک گیر تحریک چلانے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے اس بات کا اعلان جمعیت علمائے ہند کے صدر مولانا ارشد مدنی نے دارالحکومت نئی دہلی میں اہم مسلمان راہنماوں سے مشاورتی اجلاس کے بعد صحافیوں سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کیا۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ اس حوالے سے مرکزی ریاستی اور بلاک سطح پر کمیٹیاں قائم کی جائیں گی ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بھارتی مسلمان نازک دور سے گزر رہے ہیں اور مسلمانوں کو دہشت گردی سے منسلک کرنے کے لیے ان کے خلاف بے بنیاد پروپیگنڈا کیا جارہاہے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ اسلام کا دہشت گردی سے کوئی تعلق نہیں بلکہ اصل دہشت گرد وہ ہیں جو مسلمانوں پر اس طرح کے بے بنیاد الزامات عائد کر رہے ہیں۔

نئی دہلی ۔نئی دہلی اور واشنگٹن کے درمیان جوہری سمجھوتے کے معاملے پر بھارتی حزب اختلاف سمیت کانگریس اتحاد میں شامل جماعتوں کی مخالفت کے بعد قبل از انتخابات کے امکانات بڑھ گئے ہیں ۔ بائیں بازو کی کمیونسٹ جماعت نے کانگرس اتحاد کو اس واضح موقف سے آگاہ کردیا ہے ۔ کہ اگر وزیراعظم من موہن سنگھ کی حکومت نے امریکہ کے ساتھ جوہری معاہدہ یقینی بنایا تو حکومت سے علیحدگی اختیار کرلی جائے گی ۔ کانگرس کی صدر سونیا گاندھی پہلے ہی اپنے حامیوں کو ملک میں قبل از وقت انتخابات کے لیے تیار رہنے کی ہدایت کرچکی ہیں ۔ حزب اختلاف کی مرکزی جماعت بی جے پی کے راہنما لال کرشنا ایڈوانی کا کہنا تھاکہ امریکہ سے جوہری معاہدے کا مقصد بھارت مستقبل میں کوئی ایٹمی تجربہ نہیں کر سکے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بھارت کو ایٹمی ایندھن اور ایٹمی پلانٹس درکار ہیں ۔ لیکن اس شرط پر ہم ایٹمی ایندھن لینے کو تیار نہیں ہیں کہ بھارت آئندہ کبھی بھی ایٹمی دھماکہ نہیں کرے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ من موہن سنگھ امریکہ کو جو یقین دہانی کرانا چاہتے ہیں بی جے پی ا یسانہیں ہونے دے گی ۔

قبائلی علاقوں میں فوجی آپریشن مسائل کا حل نہیں ہے قبائلی علاقوں کے مسائل کا حل صرف وہاں پر تعمیر وترقی کے منصوبے شروع کرنے اور عوام کا معیار زندگی بہتر بنانے سے ہی ممکن ہے قبائلی علاقوں کے مسائل کا معاشی حل زیادہ موثر ہو گا قبائلی عوام کئی صدیوں سے قبائلی رسوم ورواج اور روایات کے مطابق رہ رہے ہیں اس لئے ان کا دل اور ذہن فوجی آپریشن کی بجائے صرف اور صرف معاشی حل سے ہی جیتا جا سکتاہے۔ اس مقصد کیلئے حکومت پاکستان کو نرمی دکھاناہو گی اوراپنے رویے میں لچک پیدا کرنا ہو گی کیونکہ نیٹو افواج اور افغان حکومت اس بارے میں کچھ نہیں کر سکتی یہ صرف پاکستانی حکومت ہی کر سکتی ہے قبائلی علاقوںمیں سکول ، ہسپتال تعمیر کرنے اور دوسری سہولیات فراہم کرنے کی ضرورت ہے اور ان منصوبوں کے دوران اس بات کا بھی خاص خیال رکھا جائے کہ قبائلیوں کی عزت نفس مجروح نہ ہو ۔ قبائلی علاقوں سے تمام غیر ملکی ازبک اور عرب باشندوں کو بے دخل کر دیاجائے خیبر رائفلز اور ایف سی کو جدید سہولیات فراہم کی جائیں اور افغانستان میں سرحدی ملیشیاءکو مضبوط کیا جائے اور دونوں اطراف کے دوران کی سیکیورٹی فورسز کے درمیان رابطے سے دہشت گردی کے خلاف بہتر نتائج حاصل کئے جا سکتے ہیں یہی پالیسی بہترین ثابت ہو سکتی ہے کیونکہ ڈیونڈر لائن کے دونوں طرف کے قبائل ایک دوسرے کو بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ جبکہ سیکیورٹی فورسز نے ہفتے کو پشاور سے ملحقہ قبائلی علاقے خیبر ایجنسی کی تحصیل باڑہ میں مذہبی تنظیم لشکر اسلام کے خلاف کاروائی کرتے ہوئے تنظیم کے دفاتر اور مراکز کو بلڈوزروں کے ذریعے مسمار کرنا شروع کردیا۔ کاروائی میں مقامی خاصہ دار فورس اور نیم فوجی دستے شریک ہیں تاہم فوج اس میں شامل نہیں ہے۔ مذہبی تنظیم کے خلاف کاروائی شروع کرنے سے پہلے علاقے میں کرفیو نافذ کردیا گیا اور سڑکوں کو خاردار تاریں لگا کر بند کردیا گیا۔ انتظامیہ نے لوگوں کو متنبہ کیا ہے کہ وہ گھروں سے باہر نہ آئیں۔صوبہ سرحد پولیس کے سربراہ ملک نویدخان کا کہنا ہے کہ اب تک کی کاروائی بغیر کسی مزاحمت کے جاری ہے اورابھی تک کوئی جانی نقصان نہیں ہوا۔ادھر تحریک طالبان پاکستان کے کمانڈر بیت اللہ محسود نے کسی نامعلوم مقام سے ذرائع ابلاغ کو فون کر کے بتایا کہ جب تک حکومت یہ آپریشن نہیں روکتی امن مذاکرات کا سلسلہ معطل رہے گااور خیبر ایجنسی میں شروع کی جانے والی کاروائی ان کے بقول بلاجواز ہے۔ ایک سوال کا جواب دیتے ہوئے بیت اللہ محسود نے کہا کہ جنڈولہ میں ملک ترکستان کے ساتھیوں کے خلاف ان کے حامیوں کی کاروائی ناگزیر تھی کیونکہ جرگے کے ذریعے بار بار فوجی افسران کو انہوں نے بتایا تھا کہ ملک ترکستان مقامی آبادی پر ظلم کررہا ہے اور اس کے ساتھی چوری اورڈاکہ زنی کی وارداتیں کرکے مقامی آبادی کو تنگ کررہے ہیں۔ بیت اللہ امحسود نے الزام لگایا کہ پاکستانی کی نئی حکومت نے انتخابات میں عوام سے وعدہ کیاتھا کہ فوجی طاقت کے استعمال کے بغیر طالبان کے ساتھ معاملات کو طے کیاجائے لیکن اب حکومت بننے کے بعد نئی قیادت نے بھی ان کے بقول بش اور مشرف کی زبان استعمال کرنا شروع کردی ہے، اس لیے طالبان طاقت کا جواب طاقت سے دیں گے۔طالبان کمانڈر کا کہنا تھا کہ ثالثی جرگہ اس بات کی گواہی دے گا کہ امن معاہدوں کی خلاف ورزی انہوں نے نہیں کی اور پشاور میں طالبان کی کاروائیوں ذکر اور دوسرے بہانے دراصل امریکی دباو¿ کے تحت بنائے جارہے ہیں تاکہ طالبان کے خلاف فوجی کاروائی شروع کرنے جواز بنا سکے ۔پشاور سے ملحق قبائلی علاقے خیبر ایجنسی میں مبینہ عسکریت پسند اور جرائم پیشہ افراد کے خلاف فوجی کارروائی اتوار کے روز بھی جاری رہی۔ اس کارروائی کا ہدف خیبر ایجنسی میں سرگرمِ عمل لشکر اسلام اور اس کی حریف تنظیموں کے افراد اور ٹھکانے تھے۔ ان تنظیموں کے درمیان محاذ آرائی کی وجہ سے گذشتہ تین برسوں کے دوران سینکڑوں افراد ہلاک اور زخمی ہو چکے ہیں۔ اب ان شدّت پسندوں کی کارروائیاں پشاور شہر تک پھیل چکی ہیں۔ اتوار کو ہونے والی کارروائی کے نتیجے میں باڑہ اور اس کے نواحی علاقوں میں سیکورٹی فورسز نے کنٹرول سنبھال لیا تھا۔ادھر پشاور میں اعلیٰ وفاقی اور صوبائی حکام کا ایک اہم اجلاس ہوا ۔ اجلاس کے بعد وفاقی وزارتِ داخلہ کے سربراہ رحمٰن ملک نے خیبر ایجنسی میں کی جانے والی کارروائی کی تازہ ترین تفصیلات بتاتے ہوئے کہا کہ ' جو لوگ جرم کرتے ہوئے خود کو محفوظ سمجھتے تھے ، ان کو اب محفوظ نہیں رہنے دیا جائے گا۔ یہاں پر قائم ریڈیو سٹیشن کو تباہ کر دیا گیا ہے۔ اس کے علاوہ ایک ٹارچر سیل پر بھی قبضہ کیا گیا ہے جہاں اچھے خاصے کمرے ہیں، یہاں سے ایسی رسیدیں برآمد ہوئی ہیں، جن سے ثبوت ملا ہے کہ پشاور اور اس کے گرد ونواح سے لوگوں کو اغوا کر کے پیسے بٹورے جاتے تھے۔'رحمٰن ملک نے یہ بتانے سے گریز کیا کہ خیبر ایجنسی میں یہ کارروائی مزید کتنے دن تک جاری رہے گی، تاہم انہوں نے یہ کہا کہ پشاور کے شہری اب اپنے آپ کو محفوظ سمجھ سکتے ہیں۔ واضح رہے کہ پاکستان سیکورٹی فورسز نے باڑہ میں ہفتہ کے روز یہ فوجی کارروائی شروع کی تھی۔ لیکن مقامی لوگوں کا کہنا ہے کہ کارروائی شروع ہونے سے پیشتر ہی لشکرِ اسلام اور دوسری تنظیموں کے کارکن دور افتادہ پہاڑی علاقوں میں روپوش ہو چکے تھے۔ جبکہ امیر جماعت اسلامی پاکستان قاضی حسین احمد نے خیبر ایجنسی میں فوجی آپریشن کی شدید مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ اربوں ڈالرکی امداد کی تفتیش سے بچنے کے لیے حکومت امریکی جنگ پشاور سمیت سرحد کے شہری علاقوںتک لے آئی ہے اور دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ کے نام پربے گناہ عوام کاقتل عام کیا جارہاہے۔ مرکزی حکومت کے ساتھ امن معاہدوں کا ڈھونگ رچانے والی صوبائی حکومت بھی اس کی ذمہ دار ہے۔ وزیرستان اور سوات میں فوجی آپریشن کے ناکام تجربوں سے حکومت نے کوئی سبق نہیں سیکھا اور اب صوبائی دارالحکومت کی دہلیز پر میدان جنگ سجایا دیاگیا ہے۔ جنگ میں اصل ٹارگٹ کے بجائے عوام نشانہ بنتے ہیںجس سے فوج کے خلاف عوامی نفرت میں اضافہ ہوتا جارہاہے پشاور اور قبائلی علاقوںکو وار زون بنانا سوچا سمجھا منصوبہ ہے، اوروفاقی حکومت عوام کو ریلیف دینے کے بجائے پختونوںاورقبائلیوں کوبمباری کا نشانہ بنانا چاہتی ہے۔ سرحد حکومت ایک طرف مذاکرات کا ڈرامہ رچا رہی ہے اوردوسری طرف فوج کو آپریشن کی دعوت بھی دے رہی ہے،اس دوغلی پالیسی سے عوام کو زیادہ دیر تک بیوقوف نہیں بنایا جا سکتا۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ وزیر اعظم کاآرمی چیف کوفاٹا میں آپریشن کا اختیار دینا اوریہاںپر غیر ملکیوںکی موجودگی کااعتراف امریکہ اورنیٹو کو اپنے عوام پرحملہ کرنے کی دعوت دینے کے مترادف ہے،یہ انتہائی قبل مذمت اقدام ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ جنرل مشرف اور ان کے ساتھیوں نے اپنے عوام کو مارنے کے لیے امریکہ سے جو اربوں ڈالر لیے تھے، ان کی جانب سے حساب مانگے جانے پر ا ب وہ لاشوں کی صورت میںتوجہ ہٹانا چاہتے ہیں۔قاضی حسین احمد نے یہ بھی کہا ہے قبائلی علاقوں پر امریکی میزائل برس رہے ہیں،اورمعصوم لوگ قتل ہورہے ہیں۔پاکستان کی سالمیت اور خود مختاری کا کھلم کھلا مذاق اڑاتے ہوئے نیٹو فورسز پاکستان کی فوجی تنصیبات اور فوجی جوانوں کو بھی نشانہ بنا رہی ہیں مگر ان کا مقابلہ کرنے کے بجائے قبائلی علاقوں میں فوجی آپریشن شروع کردیا گیا ہے اور پشاورسمیت شہری علاقے کے لوگوں کوطالبان کے نام سے دہشت زدہ کیا جا رہا ہے تاکہ وہ قبائلی علاقوں میں ہونے والے ظلم پر خاموش رہیں پشاور پر طالبان کے قبضے کی افواہیں پھیلا کر خطرناک کھیل کھیلا جارہا ہے جو ملکی سلامتی کے لیے سخت نقصان دہ ہے،اورمستقبل میں اس کے خطرناک نتائج سامنے آسکتے ہیں۔ نئی حکومت کو لوگوں نے تبدیلی کے ووٹ دیا تھاجس میں سرفہرست پرویز مشرف اور اس کی غلط پالیسیوں سے نجات حاصل کرنا تھا، لیکن پرویز مشرف ابھی تک ایوان صدر موجود ہے اور ملک میں اس کی ہی پالیساں چل رہی ہیں۔ اگر حکمران عوام کے غضب سے بچنا چاہتے ہیں توپرویزمشرف کو فوری چلتا کریں اور قبائلی علاقوں میں آپریشن بند کرکے مذاکرات سے معاملات کو حل کیا جائے۔ جبکہ ملک کو درپیش اہم قومی ایشوز کے حوالے سے حکومتی ترجیحات کے بارے میں وزیراعظم کے پہلے 100روزہ پروگرام کے اعلان کو2 9دن مکمل ہو گئے ہیں 100روزہ پروگرام کے تحت کئے گئے حکومتی اعلانات کے حوالے سے مقررہ مدت 9جولائی کو پوری ہو جائے گی اہم حکومتی اعلانات پر تاحال عملدرہونا باقی ہے ان میں عدلیہ کی آزادی اور برطرف کئے گئے ججوں کی بحالی کا معاملہ سرفہرست ہے۔ تفصیلات کے مطابق وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے 29مارچ کو قومی اسمبلی سے متفقہ طور پر اعتماد کا ووٹ لینے کے بعد پہلے 100روز کیلئے حکومتی ترجیحات کا اعلان کیا تھا ان میں قومی ایشوز کے حوالے سے حکمران اتحاد کے ساتھ ساتھ اے پی ڈی ایم کو ساتھ لے کر چلنے، جمہوریت کے حوالے سے بے نظیر بھٹو کے مشن کو پورا کرنے ، ملک کے تمام علاقوں اور لوگوں کے مفادات کا یکساں خیال رکھنے ، بیروزگاری کے خاتمے ، بے گھر افراد کو چھت کی فراہمی ، ناخواندہ افراد کو خواندہ بنانے ، سماجی معاشرتی انصاف ، ترقی و خوشحالی کے نئے مواقع ، عوام کو ہر قسم کے استحصال سے نجات دلانے ، حقیقی جمہوریت کی بحالی ، بجلی ، پانی ، آٹا ، مہنگائی کے بحرانوں سے عہدہ براہہونے ،رواں سال 22سو میگا واٹ بجلی پیدا کرنے کے نئے پلانٹس لگانے ، قومی بچت مہم کے ذریعے 500میگا واٹ بجلی کی بچت ، ایک کروڑ انرجی سیور بلب کی فراہمی ، تھرکول سے پہلے فیز میں 5ہزار میگا واٹ بجلی پیدا کرنے اور گنجائش میں اضافہ کر کے 20ہزار میگا واٹ کرنے ،بڑے ڈیموں کے سلسلے میں ہر قسم کی فزیبلٹی سٹڈیز کی تکمیل اور نقشوں کو حتمی شکل دینے ۔ آبی وسائل سے بجلی کی پیداوار میں اضافے ، نہری کھالوں کو پختہ کرنے ، چھوٹے ڈیموں کی تعمیر ، وزیراعظم ہاو¿س کے بجٹ میں چالیس فیصد کمی ، وفاقی وزراء پر 1600سی سی سے بڑی گاڑیوں کے استعمال پر پابندی ، سرکاری عمارتوں اور رہائش گاہوں کی سرکاری خزانے سے تزیئن و آرائش نہ کرنے، قومی اسمبلی میں وزیراعظم کا وقفہ سوالات شروع کرنے ، روزگار کی فراہمی کیلئے ایمپیلائمنٹ کمیشن کے قیام ، نجی و سرکاری شعبوں میں ملازمتوں کی فراہمی ، لٹریسی اینڈ ہیلتھ کمیشن کارپوریشن کے تحت گریجویشن کے بعد دو سال تک روز گار کی فراہمی ، قومی روز گار سکیم شروع کرنے ہتھیار پھینک کر امن کا راستہ اختیار کرنے والوں سے بات چیت ، فاٹا کی مربوط معاشی سماجی ،سیاسی اصلاحات اور خصوصی پیکج ایف سی آر کے فرسودہ قوانین کے خاتمے پچاس فیصد اضلاع میں ہر غریب خاندان کے ایک فرد کو ملازمت کی فراہمی ، مدرسہ ویلفیئر اتھارٹی کے قیام ، ہر سال دس لاکھ نئے مکانات کی تعمیر ، دیہی علاقوں میں سرکاری زمینوں پر بے گھر لوگوں کیلئے پانچ مرلہ سکیم اور شہریوں میں 80مربع گز کے پلاٹس کی سکیم ، کچی آبادیوں کو ریگولائز کرنے،وی آئی پی کلچر کے خاتمے ، غریب عوام کو مفت شناختی کارڈ کی فراہمی ، ایل ایچ وی کے نظام میں توسیع کے اعلانات کئے گئے تھے ۔ اس طرح پارلیمانی کمیٹیوں تک عوام کی میڈیا کے ذریعے رسائی کا اعلان کیا گیا جبکہ قائمہ کمیٹیوں کے چیئرمینوں کے انتخابات تاحال منعقد ہی نہیں ہو سکے ہیں ۔ اس طرح صوبوں کو خودمختاری دینے کیلئے کنکرنٹ لسٹ کے ایک سال میں خاتمے ، رواداری کو فروغ دینے اور ریاستی جبر کا شکار طبقات کو ریلیف کی فراہمی کیلئے مفاہمتی کمیشن قیام کا اعلان کیاگیا ۔ امن، خیر سگالی پرامن بقائے باہمی کی بنیاد پر آزاد خارجہ پالیسی ، مسئلہ کشمیر کے حوالے سے مذاکرات آگے بڑھانے ، فریڈم آف انفارمیشن کو موثر بنانے، ، پیمرا قوانین کی منسوخی ، مزدوروں کے بارے میں قوانین ILOکے مطابق ڈھالنے ، آئی آر او 2002کی منسوخی ، ٹریڈیونین اور طلبہ یونین کی بحالی، سابقہ دور میں چھانٹی ملازمین کے کیسز پرنظر ثانی ، کم از کم اجرت 6 ہزار روپے مقرر، سیاسی قیدیوں کے مقدمات کے جائزے اور ان کی باعزت رہائی ، ماحولیات کے حوالے سے ملک میں سی این جی بسوں کو عام کرنے ، آٹا کی ذخیرہ اندوزی اور سمگلنگ کے خاتمے کیلئے آہنی اقدامات، گندم کی سپورٹپرائس 625روپے کرنے ، فصلوںکی انشورنس کیلئے سکیم شروع کرنے کا اعلان کیا گیا عدلیہ کی بحالی کے حوالے سے وزیراعظم نے اعلان کیا تھا کہ میثاق جمہوریت اور مری اعلامیہ کی روشنی میں عدلیہ کی آزادی اور برطرف کئے گئے ججوں کی بحالی کیلئے حکومت کردار ادا کرے گی خود احتسابی ، مثبت نظام عدل اور نیب کو عدلیہ کے تابع کرنے کے اعلانات کئے گئے تھے وزیراعظم کی جانب سے پہلے 100 روزہ پروگرام کے حوالے سے بیشتر اعلانات عملدر آمد کے منتظر ہیں ۔ 100 روزہ پروگرام کے اعلان کو 29 جون گزشتہ روز تین ماہ جبکہ نو جولائی کو 100دن پورے ہو جائیں گے۔ دیکھنا اب یہ ہے کہ وزیر اعظم اب اپنے قول و فعل کے پکے ہیں۔پاکستان میں ساڑھے تین ماہ قبل قائم ہونے والی نئی حکومت نے سابق اور نگراں حکومت کے نو ماہ کے دوران اسٹیٹ بینک سے لیے گئے مجموعی قرضوں سے زیادہ قرضہ حاصل کیا جولائی 2007ء سے 14جون 2008ء تک حکومت نے اسٹیٹ بینک سے مجموعی طور پر 651ارب روپے قرضہ لیا، اس میں پیپلز پارٹی کی قیادت میں بننے والی حکومت کا حصہ 355ارب روپے ہے۔ اِس وقت بجٹ خسارہ نو فی صد سے زیادہ ہے اور مرکزی بینک، بینکاری نظام اور دوسرے ذرائع سے حاصل کیے گئے قرضے ایک ہزار ارب سے تجاوز کر چکے ہیں۔نئی حکومت نے اقتدار سنبھالتے ہی اعلان کیا تھا کہ سال ختم ہونے سے قبل بجٹ خسارہ کم کیا جائے گا۔تاہم، مرکزی بینک کے اعداد و شمار دیکھتے ہوئے تجزیہ نگاروں کو تشویش ہے کہ حکومت کی طرف سے بھاری قرضہ لینے کی وجہ سے صورتِ حال میں بہتری کے امکانات نہیں ہیں اور افراطِ زر بھی بڑھنے کا خدشہ ہے۔اسٹیٹ بینک قرضوں پر بڑھتے ہوئے انحصار سے حکومت کو مسلسل آگاہ کررہا ہے، اور مناسب اقدام کی ضرورت کرنے کی ضرورت پر زور دیتا رہا ہے۔تجزیہ نگاروں کا کہنا ہے کہ ملک میں افراطِ زر پر قابو پانے کے لیے سخت مالیاتی پالیسی بھی اختیار کی گئی مگر حکومتی قرضوں میں اضافے کی وجہ سے پالیسی کے بھی مطلوبہ نتائج حاصل نہیں ہو رہے۔افراطِ زر کے بارے میں تازہ اعداد و شمار سے پتا چلتا ہے کہ اشیائے ضرورت کی قیمتوں میں گذشتہ برس اِسی مدت کے مقابلے میں 26فی صد اضافہ ہو چکا ہے۔ کم آمدنی والے طبقے پر افراطِ زر اور مہنگائی کا سب سے زیادہ اثر پڑ رہا ہے۔پاکستان کے عوام کا مطالبہ ہے کہ جن سرکاری افسران اور سیاسی لوگوں نے گزشتہ آٹھ سالوں میں سرکاری خزانے کو لوٹا ہے ان سے حساب کتاب ہر صورت میں لیا جائے اور انتقامی کارروائیوں کی بھی پوچھ گچھ کی جائے اور نئے حکمران عوام کے مسائل حل کرنے میں خصوصی دلچسپی لیں تاکہ لوگوں کو محسوس ہو کہ اب عوام کی اپنی حکومت آئی ہے۔ جبکہ وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے کہا ہے کہ طالبان نے معاہدہ کی خلاف ورزی کرکے حکومتی رٹ کو چیلنج کیا ہے۔ کسی بھی صورت سکولوں کو آگ لگانے مخالفین کے سرعام سر قلم کرنے اور شہریوں کے اغواء کے واقعات کو برداشت نہیں کرسکتے۔ حکومت پر کوئی دباو¿ نہیں ہے۔ملک کی سلامتی اور عزت پر کوئی سمجھوتہ نہیں ہوگا۔ ہم خود دہشت گردی کا شکار ہیں اور اس کے خلاف جنگ لڑرہے ہیں۔ ہم صوبائی خودمختاری پر یقین رکھتے ہیں اور مسائل کے حل کیلئے مذاکرات پر یقین رکھتے ہیں۔وزیراعظم نے کہاکہ قبائلی علاقوں میں کنٹرول کرنا بھی صوبائی حکومت کی ذمہ داری ہے۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ صوبہ میں امن وامان برقرار رکھنے کیلئے صوبہ سرحد کی حکومت ایف سی سمیت کسی بھی وفاقی ایجنسی کو طلب کرسکتی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ابھی صرف فاٹا، پشاور اور سوات میں آپریشن جاری ہے اگر کسی اور علاقے میں خراب صورتحال کی اطلاع ملی تو صوبائی حکومت فیصلہ کرے گی کہ کیا اقدامات کرنے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم نے پالیسی تبدیل نہیں کی ہے اور نہ ہی قبائلی علاقوں میں آپریشن کے حق میں ہیں ۔ ہم ابھی بھی مسائل کا حل مذاکرات سے چاہتے ہیں۔ لیکن جب وہاں اقلیتی برادری کے لوگوں کو اغوائ کیا جائے اور بچیوں کے سکولوں کو آگ لگادی جائے حکومت اس پر لچک نہیں دکھا سکتی۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ قبائلی علاقوں میں دہشت گردی میں غیر ملکی ہاتھ بھی ملوث ہوسکتا ہے۔ حکومت وہاں امن کے قیام کیلئے ہر ممکن اقدام کررہی ہے۔ عوام امن چاہتے ہیں اور ہمارے ساتھ ہیں۔ وزیراعظم نے کہاکہ اس وقت کراچی سے خیبر تک اتحادی حکومت قائم ہے چاروں صوبوں میں بھی ہم مل کر حکومت چلا رہے ہیں اور عوام کو ریلیف دینا چاہتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ ہمیں جمہوری عمل کو مستحکم کرنا ہے جس کیلئے سازگار فضا کا ہونا بہت ضروری ہے۔ ایک سوال کے جواب میں انہوں نے کہا کہ مصر میں امریکی صدر بش سے ملاقات میں ان کو اپنی پالیسی سے آگاہ کر دیا تھا کہ ہم قبائلیوں کو ترقی، سیاسی مذاکرات، صحت اور تعلیم کی سہولیات بھی دینا چاہتے ہیں، صدر بش بھی ہماری ان پالیسیوں سے متفق تھے۔ ہم آج بھی اپنے موقف پر قائم ہیں اور ان کو یہ سہولیات دینا چاہتے ہیں لیکن انہوں نے معاہدے کی خلاف ورزی کر کے علاقے میں بدامنی پھیلانے کی کوشش کی ہے اس وجہ سے صوبائی حکومت کو آخری آپشن کے طور پر ملٹری آپریشن کا سہارا لینا پڑا۔ مہنگائی سے متعلق سوال کے جواب میں وزیراعظم نے کہاکہ مہنگائی، لوڈشیڈنگ اور دیگر مسائل ہمیں ورثہ میں ملے ہیں اس وقت بھی حکومت تیل کی مد میں ایک ارب 20کروڑ روپے کی سبسڈی روزانہ دے رہی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ مہنگائی صرف پاکستان کا ہی نہیں پوری دنیا کا مسئلہ ہے جس پر قابو پانے کیلئے اقدامات کئے جارہے ہیں اور حکومت اس مقصد کیلئے تمام وسائل بروئے کار لانے کے علاوہ اپنی تمام توانائیاں صرف کررہی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ زراعت کی ترقی کیلئے بھی اقدامات کئے جارہے ہیں۔ ہم ملک میں سبز اور سنہری انقلاب لائیں گے۔ معزول ججوں کی بحالی اور مختلف اطراف سے آنے والی فارمولوں سے متعلق سوال پر وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ معزول ججوں کو آزاد ہم نے کیا انہیں تنخواہ بھی دے رہے ہیں اور انہیں بحال بھی ہم ہی کریں گے۔ خودمختار کشمیر کے حوالے سے بھارتی وزیراعظم من موہن سنگھ کی رائے پر انہوں نے کہا کہ مسئلہ کشمیر کا حل وہی ہونا چاہئے جو خود کشمیریوں کیلئے قابل قبول ہو۔ من موہن سنگھ پاکستان آئیں گے تو اس پر بات کریں گے۔ قومی ہیرو اور ایٹمی سائنسدان Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (TPTM) is not a great work of art. It doesn't cause ripples across the cinematic stratosphere. It does something even better. It makes you feel warm and comforted about the quality of contemporary life. No matter how awful things seem, there's always that core of goodness in the human heart to count on. This film makes you count your blessings. Kunal Kohli taps into that noble core, so elusive in our cinema. The last film that was as noble-intentioned as TPTM was Ashutosh Gowariker's "Swades".For all his acute sensitivity and storytelling acumen, Gowariker was awfully out of breath while dealing with the child actor in "Swades". In contrast, Kohli is at ease with his four child actors who have been selected not for their overt cuteness but their propensity to play the characters that they have been allotted with restrain and understanding. Each of the four brats, forced by law to come and live with the man who accidentally killed their parents, sparkle with spontaneous credibility. Kohli treats the kids as young adults and he treats the audience with as much respect. He gives us what we apparently want - emotions, laughter and drama. But he makes sure his plot doesn't become a slave to conventional prescriptions. It's not easy to desist from using a patronising tone for the children when they are orphans trapped in an adult situation that they don't understand. Kohli does a fantasy spin where the sassy and spiffy words and storytelling offset the quaint arcadian story of the four orphans and a cantankerous tycoon who we soon discover is constantly unhappy on account of a girlfriend who only talks about designer clothes.For enlightened conversation he must turn to a poker-faced butler (Razzak Khan), a business associate on the webcam (who talks in an indeterminate accent) and later the four children who are forced on him with a god-sent angel who infuriates him by constantly laughing in his face.More than "Mary Poppins", Kohli is inspired by "The Sound Of Music" and I don't mean the soundtrack created by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Saif's ceaseless scowl could well be a spillover from what Christopher Plummer wore as a passion statement way back in the 1960s in the Roger & Hammerstein musical. And Rani Mukherjee could be a desi Julie Andrews popping out of a cottony heaven run by a god who looks a lot like Rishi Kapoor.The idyllic theme often takes off into a realm of commodious fantasy with children prancing with animals - both real and computerised - in what could happily be seen as a modern day interpretation of Gulzar's "Parichay". TPTM leaves you with a feeling of warmth and well-being. It's an all's-well-with-the-world anthem on celluloid sung at a pitch that pointedly avoids the higher notes and scales some sweet tender octaves in tones that sound like paeans to heaven.More than anything else, TPTM bowls you over with its nobility of purpose. Though inured in the condensed milk of human kindness, the narration never plummets into becoming an occasion to flaunt some jaundiced utopia - not even when Kohli, very bravely inspired by Raj Kumar Hirani, brings footage of Mahatma Gandhi into the narration. Rani lends an aura of mischievous artlessness to the angel's role. Saif is all scowls and pursed lips, but nonetheless emotive in parts. Amisha Patel's benign bimbo act depends more on styling than substance. Sudeep Chatterjee's camera work is gloriously wedded to gloss. Every hair on the head glistens with glamour. Every scowl is on the prowl for perfection. This is a film that no one can hate. It doesn't have a single "bad" character, not even badly-written characters. In just two sequences Sharat Saxena as the legal eagle lets you know all we need or want to know about his life. The children tell us the rest.

‘I think Harman is a fantastic actor’

SHE IS not known to be much of a work-out fanatic. But Priyanka Chopra has managed to keep herself stunningly slim.
Strikingly pretty, smart and totally media-savvy, the former beauty queen turned Bollywood actress flew down to Dubai with her co-star Harman Baweja to promote their new film, Love Story 2050. According to the grapevine, the actress is also romantically linked with the newcomer hero.
Directed by Harry Baweja, the film is a launch vehicle for his son who is making his debut as an actor. The film is billed as India’s first sci-fi movie, replete with never-seen-before special effects. “It’s exciting. It’s India’s first futuristic movie,” said Priyanka Chopra, in an exclusive chat with City Times, at The Lodge at Al Nasr Leisureland, the venue of the press conference.
She said that she plays a double role in the movie, which was one of the main reasons why she grabbed the role. “It’s a very different movie altogether.
You have never seen these kind of special effects in a Bollywood movie. You have never gone into the future in any Indian movie. It’s a love story that crosses time zones. Of course, it’s all imaginary. But it’s looking fantastic, something we’ve never seen before. It has never been made in Hindi cinema before. It’s a milestone.” Besides Love Story 2050, Chopra is also coming out in other films like Drona, Fashion, Dostana and Vishal Bharadwaj’s film, Kameene. She has mostly featured in masala films and potboilers. When asked whether she has any aspirations to be known as a serious actress, Chopra said, “I believe that a movie is made for entertainment.
When we make a movie we want people to come and see it. And I believe box office is the star when it comes to films. I do think a serious role can happen in a commercial film. I did a serious character in a commercial film, Aitraaz, which was a completely different character from what I have ever played. It was the first or second year in my career when I played it. And I won a lot of awards for it. But I don’t think that it’s playing a character where you de-glamourise yourself or an art film that makes you a better actor. I think you’re a better actor when you can perform a character with excellence in a film which does humongously well at the box office. That’s what makes you a complete actor.” Talking about her method of choosing films, she pointed out that to accept any role she has to like the movie. “I’ll never pick a film because it is just a role that is exciting. It has to be a film that I like to be a part of,” she said. “Like my film Fashion with Madhur Bhandarkar who is a three time National Award winning director. It’s a very interesting character; it is an offbeat film, yet a very commercial one. So, I knew that if I do something relatively different or serious, it will have to be in a commercial film.” When asked whether a futuristic film like Love Story 2050 would find favour with Indian moviegoers, the actress was emphatic, citing the example of Krrish, another different type of film in which she starred. “Krrish was the first superhero film.
When we were coming out with this film, people thought how could India have a superhero film? But Krrish became a phenomenon,” she averred.
“Just like that, Love Story 2050 is a very different film.
People thought we could never make a movie like this in India, because we didn’t have the budget for it. I think we, as Indians and as Asian cinema, should be proud of the fact that we have been able to make a film like this, which can almost be at the level of a Hollywood movie in terms of its special effects. I don’t understand why people are always trying to pull down the fact that something like this has been made. I think it takes a lot of guts for anybody to attempt a film like this, especially in an industry where our budgets are much less than those of Hollywood’s.” When asked about the general impression that there is a dearth of good scripts in Bollywood, Chopra was again emphatic. “Not at all. I don’t think so. There are fabulous scripts in Bollywood,” she said. “Lots of scripts have come out which are fantastic, one of them being Love Story 2050.
It is an original movie.” And she also debunked the impression that there are no heroine-centric scripts.
“As for heroine-oriented films, I’m doing one now, which is Fashion. And there are lots of movies that do come out, like Laga Chunri Me Daag,” she said. “It just depends: where there is a demand there will be supply. If people go and see the movies, they would do well. If people don’t go and see, they wouldn’t do well.
Simple.” Some time back the Indian press was rife with reports of Chopra not getting along with Kareena Kapoor.
When asked as to why Bollywood heroines don’t seem to get along with each other, the actress said, “I don’t think you can generalise. It’s a very individualistic thing. I suppose it depends upon whether you find a friend that you like or not. And for that matter, I can say journalists don’t get along with each other either.” The actress was all praise for some of the newcomers in the industry. “I think Harman is a fantastic actor. Since I have worked with him I can talk about him. He’s extremely talented and he has a great line up of films.
Apart from him, I think Neil Mukesh is very good.
And Ranbir Kapoor is also very good.” Priyanka Chopra, the Miss India who went on to win the Miss World title, came to Bollywood as an outsider. When asked how it feels to be an outsider who made it in an industry that is dominated by families and dynasties, she said, “I think it’s difficult for both. As an outsider, it’s difficult because your initial struggle is very difficult. But then we don’t come with the baggage of expectations. But for star children, they come with a lot of baggage. People expect them to be as fantastic as their fathers or forefathers. So they have a lot of pressure. We don’t have pressure but we have a lot of struggle. I’m very proud of the fact that I made it without a godfather, without any help - just with a lot of hard work and luck.”

HARMAN BAWEJA is the son of director Harry Baweja and producer Pammi Baweja. His debut film, Love Story 2050 is directed by his father and produced by his mother. He has often been compared to Hrithik Roshan in looks and dance style.
How do you feel about the launch of your maiden film and career? It’s exciting. Of course it has its share of jitters. I have been assistant director for almost eight years. I spent two years at the UCLA in America. And after that I got a chance to be an actor.
This film has taken almost two and half years to make and now it’s coming out. So it’s natural for me to get a little nervous. I’m a mixed bag of emotions right now.
And how do you cope up the weight of expectations that various people have from you? Well, more than anything else, I think it is more about my own expectations that I have to live up to for what my parents have done for me. It has been an expensive film to make, with a budget of almost Rs 50 crores. It’s looking great but at the same time there is pressure on me to perform and to deliver what they have entrusted to me. So the pressure is more emotional, if I may say, than anything else.
How do you feel about the film of Imran Khan, Aamir Khan’s nephew, which is being released on the same date as your Love Story 2050? Are you nervous about it? See, this is my first film and an expensive one. As a family we have put in three years of our lives into it. My dad is the director, my mom is the producer and my sister is the chief assistant director and I’m the actor. We literally lived the movie for three years. So when the time came to release it, we spoke to every producer and director planning to release their films in June and July. And July 4 was decided as the date of release. And then we heard about the release of Imran Khan’s picture being launched on the same date. So, dad did speak to Aamir Khan about it and requested him to shift his date. But for reasons best known to him, he refused. Of course, he’s genius and I respect him as an actor.
But there must be something that he must have felt is right. But I’m not nervous about that, about who’s coming before me or after me.
I’m just nervous about me.
You are being compared with Hrithik Roshan. How do you feel about it... good or bad? I don’t know if it’s good or bad. As I’ve said earlier, it’s not something that I have done. It’s the way I look.
I was born with it. And then again, Shahid went through it when he first came, being compared with Shah Rukh Khan. Neil Mukesh was recently compared to Hrithik.
Shah Rukh was compared to Dilip Kumar Saheb, Abhishek to his father, Priyanka to Madhuri.
So if you look at examples... they are many. And I suppose it’s only natural.
Anybody new comes in, they start relating, comparing.
You reportedly made some controversial comments about Kareena Kapoor, terming her performance as ‘robotic’ etc. Is it true and do you think it was cool for a newcomer to make such comments? No... no it is not true.
If you read the papers today, they have carried the clarifications about it.
I have never made that statement. It was an absolute misquote. I think Kareena Kapoor is a good actress.
There is no question about it.
Even before the release of your first film, you have reportedly signed five new films with directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ashutosh Gowariker, Anees Bazmee and Manmohan Shetty.
How did that come about? Well, I’d say God has been kind. I think they have all seen my rushes and I feel they must have found something in me as a newcomer. I’m sure they must have liked something about me otherwise they wouldn’t have taken me for their forthcoming films.

Diplomacy must work on Iran

I was asked this question repeatedly when I was in the United States last month. We've been pursuing the diplomatic track for several years, we've had four Security Council resolutions, and yet the Iranian regime is still busy installing new centrifuges.
The diplomatic track has to work — the alternatives are appalling. And I believe that our Iran policy can still work.
The Iranian regime may believe that time is on their side, but the state of the Iranian economy says differently. So does the state of Iran's enrichment programme. The regime has claimed for years to be further ahead than it is, and it continues to do so. Enrichment is hard technology to master, and our assessment is that Iran is still some way from doing so.
So we will continue to offer a clear choice: Come into compliance with UN resolutions and be part of the international community, or remain in breach and suffer growing political and economic isolation.
That choice will become incrementally starker over time, with every new sanctions resolution, with each new EU agreement on further measures and with every further critical report from the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The IAEA has just published one such report. It said that Iran was failing to co-operate with IAEA inspectors. It found troubling Iran's refusal to explain documents that suggest Iran's nuclear intentions are military, not purely civilian as they claim.
Alongside its continuing pursuit of nuclear capability, the Iranian regime continues to support insurgent groups in Iraq and Afghanistan. British and American troops are attacked with technology coming from Iran. The Iraqis themselves have started to turn on Iranian interference and trouble-making. Iran's angry professions of innocence look more and more hollow as the evidence mounts up.
The tragedy is that it needn't be this way. Iran should be one of the great nations of the international community. It has a history, a culture and a strategic importance that means the world would welcome it with open arms if it were not pursuing a nuclear programme with no civilian use and supporting terrorism.
The world needs a responsible, active Iran that pulls its weight in the region and beyond — but not in the destructive way it does at present. And Iran needs the world.
Behind the regime's tough rhetoric of defiance and nationalism is the knowledge that Iran must not become isolated again. The Iranian people do not enjoy seeing their proud nation in pariah status. The Iranian economy badly needs to be part of the global economy, not cut off from capital, technology and markets.
So we will continue to give Iran that clear and increasingly stark choice about its future — the so-called "dual track" approach. On June 14 we took another step in this. I sent the Foreign Office's political director to Teheran, along with his French, German, Chinese and Russian counterparts and the EU's High Representative, Javier Solana. They were there to give Iran a new offer. It is not the first offer we have made the Iranians, but it is the most far-reaching. We need a rapid response from Iran.
Part of that offer is actually a willingness to help Iran develop nuclear technology. The Iranian regime tells its people the international community is trying to deny Iran its right to nuclear power. They have turned it into a nationalist issue. But if they were honest with their own people, they would have to say that the opposite is true.
In June 2006 the six countries of the "E3+3" — Britain, France and Germany plus the United States, China and Russia — offered Teheran the technology to build nuclear power stations using state-of-the-art technology. The Iranian Government showed no interest. They spurned the offer, pushing ahead with an enrichment programme that has no apparent civilian application.
Our aim is clear: We simply want to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. It is not regime change in Teheran. The new deal is also clear. It includes specific proposals to assist Iran to acquire everything it needs for a modern nuclear power industry, including technological and financial assistance, legally binding fuel supply guarantees and cooperation on radioactive waste. It also includes an offer from all E3+3 foreign ministers — which includes the United States - to sit down and talk if Iran suspends its nuclear enrichment activities. And it covers a long list of other potential benefits, from greatly improved political contacts and cooperation to steps towards normalising trade, economic and energy relations, and agricultural, aviation and development assistance.
Our offer to Teheran is a further reminder — to the Iranian people, and to the world — that our approach is not just one of isolation and pressure. There is a massive prize for Iran on offer from the international community if Iran is willing to behave like a responsible member of that community. We are determined to balance the tough punitive measures with generous incentives.
Iran likes to play the victim. It tells its people that it is being unfairly treated by the world. But the Iranian regime is the author of its own misfortune. It has chosen its path — to ignore the UN's demands, obfuscate with the IAEA and spurn the E3+3's attempts to engage with it.
As we have once again made clear, Iran has a choice. If it continues to make the wrong choice, then it will not be the international community's policy that has failed, but the Iranian regime's.

Three-prong strategy for tribal areas being adhered: Gilani

LAHORE : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that government is adhering to three-prong strategy i.e. political dialogue, development, and force, to calm down unrest in tribal areas. Addressing a press conference at State Guest House here Sunday evening, the Premier said that government would ensure its writ in tribal areas at all cost.
Gilani said the foreigners especially from Central Asian states were harbouring in tribal belt and were carrying out terror activities in Pakistan.
To a question, the Prime Minister also ruled out reports of any foreign pressure with regard to operation in tribal areas. “Our first priority is to settle down the tribal issue through political dialogue; by initiating massive development in these areas and the last option is the use of force to ensure government’s writ, and we stick to this policy,” he added.
Gilani said provincial government had struck a peace deal with tribal chieftains three months ago but the latter violated the agreement by resorting to hanging the people publicly, kidnapping the minority people and setting ablaze girls schools.
“No government can afford a parallel government and we will never compromise country’s sovereignty, dignity and self-respect,” he added.
He said that tribal operation is a provincial matter for which the respective government can take any initiative to maintain law and order, and it can also seek help in this regard from the law enforcement agencies as well as the federal government.
The Prime Minister said that government and the people of Pakistan wanted peace and tranquility in the country. He emphasized upon the media and other relevant quarters to create public awareness through seminars, discussions and editorials about the menace of terrorism.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan would not accept any Kashmir solution without involvement of the Kashmiris.
Dearness has now become a global issue because oil and edibles’ prices are rocketing sky high throughout the world and this factor created numerous crises for all the countries except the oil-rich states. “Luckily, Pakistan has vital sector of agriculture and we will bring white and green revolutions in the country,” he vowed.
Gilani said that government was bearing Rs 1.2 billion per day subsidy to the masses, he added.
To a question, he said the government still wanted the investigation of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination from an independent agency so that nobody could point finger at the government that it had given the findings on its own.

Govt. taking targeted action against criminals in Khyber Agency: Rehman

ISLAMABAD: Federal Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik has denied that the government is conducting any operation in Khyber Agency (KA) saying it is targeted action against criminals. In an interview with BBC radio, he said it cannot be called an operation as this is targeted action against people who have made bases in some schools and madrasahs.
He denied the impression that Taliban had taken over some areas. The Advisor said there are some pockets of criminals who were creating problems for local people and the government is wiping out those pockets.
He said if there is to be launched any operation it will be carried out by the provincial government as law enforcement is the responsibility of the provincial government.
However, he said if provincial government needed any force the federal government is ready to provide them.
“We will be able to reinforce the writ of the government,” he added.
To a question, he said there is no need to take action inside Peshawar.
To another question, he said the government did not sign any agreement in FATA. The objective of the government is to maintain rule of law in FATA.
Replying to a question, he said, the government has signed agreement in North Waziristan adding,”we are holding talks with the people and Maliks and elders of the areas who are seeking government’s help.”
