PPP, MQM failure to reach accord a bad omen

THE much debated and talked about power-sharing deal in Sindh between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is over at least for the time being.
The MQM has finally decided that it cannot be part of a coalition government and preferred to sit on the opposition benches.
Its decision is seen by many as not a good omen for the country’s commercial hub and main contributor to the national exchequer considering the past record of hostilities between the two parties.
The announcement ended weeks of speculation on the state of PPP-MQM relations and once again raised the spectre of uneasy political uncertainty and possible violence in coming days.
The breakdown in the talks is seen by all political analysts as a major blow to the efforts of PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to form a government of national consensus in all the four provinces as well as at the Centre. It also seems that Zardari’s visit to Nine-Zero failed to achieve the objectives.
Apprehensions are not unfounded that the failure to reach an agreement on power-sharing between PPP and MQM could eventually lead to renewal of violence in Karachi and other urban areas of Sindh.
MQM’s decision came after a deadlock in talks and appointment of Dr Shoaib Suddle as provincial police chief as well as other controversial police officers was termed last straw that led to the complete breakdown of talks.
Dr Suddle, no doubt a controversial figure to say the least, has been blamed by many for multiple murders of MQM’s activists carried out by the Sindh police when he was the DIG of Karachi in the mid-1990s, during the second tenure of Benazir Bhutto as prime minister.
Besides MQM, PPP-SB headed by Ghinwa Bhutto, some of the country’s best known lawyers and members of the civil society have also denounced the appointment of the same team of police officials that was allegedly involved in the murder of Mir Murtaza Bhutto. Dr Suddle was one of the accused in the murder of Murtaza Bhutto and six other men. However, reports emanating from PPP sources claim that the main reason behind MQM’s decision to stay out of power-sharing is its demand for certain ministries that was strongly opposed by PPP hawks.
Majority of Sindh PPP leaders are convinced that the MQM is trying to blackmail the PPP by using the Karachi card and that the PPP should resist it at all costs.
MQM, they argued, should only be accommodated on ‘our terms’ as the party does not need MQM’s support to run the province.
MQM on the other hand also questioned the sincerity of PPP in the talks and described its attitude ‘non-serious’, a charge denied by PPP leaders who said the party would re-continue the reconciliation process through the top leadership of two parties.
While both parties have failed to work out a formula to share power, there is still time for saner elements both in the PPP and the MQM to realise the gravity of the situation and try to mend fences leaving aside their differences as millions of residents of this province need a stable government that could provide them basic necessities of life.

PIA fares raised

KARACHI — PIA travellers will have to pay more fare due to an increase in the fuel surcharge owing to soaring oil prices.
The travellers will have to pay $40 more for one-way ticket to USA and Canada under the fuel surcharge head with immediate effect. For European destinations, including Britain the increase is $20 while $10 will be charged for the Middle East, India and Far East countries.
However, no addition has been made on tickets for Umrah. Domestic flyers will have to fork out Rs150 to 300 for one-way tickets.
Meanwhile, private air carrier Airblue has decided to do away with Business Class in all its domestic and international flights to counter the surging oil prices.

Low intensity operation to restore peace in Karachi

ISLAMABAD — The Sindh Police, under its new chief Dr Shoaib Suddle, are putting its act together to launch a ‘low intensity operation’ against terrorists, kidnappers, extortionists and miscreants, officials here said.
Adviser to prime minister on interior Rehman Malik told newsmen here that no direct operation against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement is planned but warned that lawlessness, violence and terrorism would not be tolerated.
He said the government would be able to uncover those involved in the May 12 carnage in Karachi, the October 18 blasts and the assassination of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto. All reports on investigations in the assassination have been collected and being reviewed, he added.
The officials said in the beginning the pace of the operation will be quite slow till all intelligence agencies are brought on board and are willing to provide back-up support.
“Without the full intelligence support, no operation will achieve any success in Karachi. There is no point in doing a patchy work because it will encourage terrorists,” The News quoted a senior police official, who was recently transferred to Karachi after 12 years. “Unless the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is comprehensively associated with any such operation, we can’t go the whole yard and take the troublemakers head-on. This premier outfit has all the resources and high-tech required for such a drive,” he said.
During his recent visit to Islamabad, the officer showed to The News correspondent a huge bundle of documents, wrapped in a shopping bag, giving graphic details of those who had been resorting to killings and creating anarchy and chaos in Karachi.
The officer has been on the ‘hit list’ of terrorists for his all-inclusive involvement in the previous operation in which several people belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) died in fake encounters.
The MQM publicly repudiated the appointment of this police officer as it did in the case of Suddle as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh. It cited these appointments as one of the reasons for its decision to snap power-sharing negotiations with the PPP and sit in the opposition.
The official said no doubt the terrorists were well armed and had large amount of weapons that they had assembled over the past decade, it was not a big deal to crack down on them if there were complete preparations and clarity of mind as to what was to be achieved.
He said mere moving of Suddle to Sindh as chief of provincial chief and some other changes made at the senior level in the provincial police, especially Karachi, had sent an unambiguous message across the board that illegal activities would have to be ceased forthwith or these would be curbed with force. These changes have instantly resulted in reduction in street crimes, including the snatching of mobile phones, he added.
Another official said that the Karachi Police would now no longer sit silently waiting for all the main players of the government, including intelligence agencies, to come out with their opinion that the troublemakers had to be dealt with severely in Karachi before it was too late.
The first step that Suddle has started taking is to inculcate confidence in the police force and tell them that he means business. The recent pay raise given to policemen and provision of other facilities was part of this policy. While Suddle has the track record of taking on the criminals in a decisive way, he doesn’t spare policemen who show laxity and negligence.

ہمارے قائدین سمیت ہزاروں بلوچ نوجوان پابند سلاسل ہیں،صحافیوں سے بات چیتخضدار۔ بلوچستان نیشنل پارٹی مینگل کے مرکزی رہنما میر عبدالرؤف مینگل نے کہا ہے کہ بلوچ عوام مظالم اور جبر جاری ہے اس وقت پورے صوبے میں عملا آپریشن جاری ہے اور ہمارے قائدین سمیت ہزاروں بلوچ نوجوان پابند سلاسل ہیں ان خیالات کا اظہار انہوںنے خضدار کے صحافیوں سے بات چیت کرتے ہوئے انہوںنے بتایا کہ پچھلے ساٹھ سالہ تاریخ میں بلوچ قوم نے ظلم اور تشدد کے ماسوا کچھ نہیں دیکھا ہے ہمارے وسائل پر قبضہ گیری کی خاطر اسٹیبلشمنٹ نے ہر طرح کی جدوجہد کی ہے تاہم انہیں بلوچ قوم کے مطالبات کو تسلیم کرنے اور ان کی خواہشات کا جائزہ لینے کی توفیق نصیب نہیں ہو سکی انہوں نے کہا کہ ماضی میں بلوچ عوام کو طفلی تسلیاں دی گئی مگر اس میں سے کسی ایک پر عملدرآمد نہیں ہوسکا اب بھی مظلوم بلوچ قوم کو کسی طور پر خیر کی توقع نہیں ہے سردار اختر جان مینگل کو پابند سلاسل رکھ کر یہی کچھ بیٹھے تھے کہ وہ بلوچستان میں اپنے حقوق کی جدوجہد سے بلوچ عوام کو دستبردار جاسکے گا تاہم بلکہ مظالم کے بعد بلوچ قومی تحریک ایک منظم حیثیت سے کامیابی کی جانب گامزن ہے ۔

نئی جمہوری حکومت ڈاکٹر عبدالقدیر خان کو فوراً رہا کرے، ان کا اصل مقام واپس دلایا جائے۔ ۔عوامی مطالبے پر ہمارے قومی ہیرو کو صدر پاکستان بنایا جائے جو فیڈریشن کی بقاء کیلئے بہترین شخصیت ہیںاسلام آباد ۔ امیر جماعت اسلامی پاکستان قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاہے کہ نئی جمہوری حکومت ڈاکٹر عبدالقدیر خان کو فوراً رہا کرے اور انہیں ان کا اصل مقام واپس دلایا جائے عوامی مطالبے پر ہمارے قومی ہیرو کو صدر پاکستان بنایا جائے جو فیڈریشن کی بقاء کیلئے بہترین شخصیت ہیں ۔صدرپرویز مشرف نے گیارہ ہستمبر کے بعد امریکی دھمکیوں کے خوف سے آئینی خود مختاری بیچ دی ۔ ایک نجی ٹی وی سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہاہے کہ پرویز مشرف کو تعاون نہ کرنے کی پاداش میں امریکیوں نے پتھر کے زمانے میں دھکیلنے کی دھمکی دی تو پرویز مشرف نے اپنے تمام تر تعاون کے وعدے پر اپنی آزادی اور خود مختاری بیچ دی اور ہماری کوئی بھی چیز اب اپنے ہاتھ میں نہیں رہی یہاں تک کہ بش اور ٹونی بلیئر کے کہنے پر پرویز مشرف نے ہمارے ہیرو ڈاکٹر قدیر جس نے ہمیں دفاعی طور پر مضبوط بنایا اس کو بھی گھر کے اندر نظر بند کر دیااور اس پر طرح طرح کے الزامات بھی لگا دئیے اور ڈاکٹر قدیر کو مجبور بھی کیا کہ وہ اعتراف کرے کہ ایٹمی ہتھیاروں کے پھیلاؤ میں وہ حصہ دار ہیں اور انہوں نے یہی سینیٹری فیوجز سپلائی کئے ڈاکٹر قدیر کو تمام تر الزام اپنے اوپر لینے پر مجبور کیا۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ اب جبکہ وہ دور ختم ہو گیا ہے اور دعویٰ کیاجارہا ہے کہ جمہوری حکومت آگئی ہے اور پارلیمنٹ کے ذریعے حکومت ہو گی تو اب عوام کاحکومت سے بھرپور مطالبہ ہے کہ ڈاکٹر قدیر خان کو اس کا اصل مقام واپس دلایا جائے۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ آج پاکستان کے عوام کی بہت بڑی تعداد اس بات کی خواہش مند ہے کہ ڈاکٹر قدیر کو صدارت کے اعلیٰ منصب پر فائز ہونا چاہیے عوام اس بات کی شدت سے خواہش مند ہے ۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہا کہ صدر فیڈریشن وحدت کی علامت ہوتا ہے ا س کیلئے بہترین شخصیت ڈاکٹر قدیر خان ہیں اگر موجودہ حکومت ایسا کردے تو یہ اس بات کی علامت ہو گی کہ ہم نے اپنی خود مختاری و آزادی واپس لے لی ہے قاضی حسین احمدنے کہاکہ ڈاکٹر عبدالقدیر خان کی رہائی ان کی حیثیت اور ان کو عزت دینا اس بات کی علامت ہو گی کہ ہم امریکہ کے تابع نہیں رہے اور ہماری فوج بھی امریکہ کے کرائے کی فوج نہیں ہے یہ ایک آزاد قوم کی آزاد فوج ہے اور ہم ایک آزاد اور خود مختار ملک ہیں اس کوثابت کرنے کیلئے ڈاکٹر قدیر خان کو رہا کر کے ان کا مرتبہ ومقام حیثیت اور عزت و احترام دیاجائے۔ قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ ان کا یہ کہنا کہ سیکیورٹی کی وجہ سے ان پر پابندیاں لگائی گئی ہے ہم یہ کہتے ہیں کہ انہیں سیکیورٹی ڈاکٹر قدیر کے مطالبے کے مطابق ہونی چاہیے قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ اس طریقے سے ڈاکٹر قدیر کو گھیرنا اور پابند رکھنا جس سے ڈاکٹر قدیر سمجھے کہ وہ قیدی ہے صحیح طریقہ نہیں ہے ایسا کر کے انہیں ذہنی اذیت دی جارہی ہے جو ہمارے لئے اور ایک آزاد قوم کیلئے بہت ہی نا مناسب بات ہے قاضی حسین احمد نے کہاکہ پوری قوم موجودہ حکومت سے مطالبہ کرتی ہے کہ وہ اپنا فرض پورا کرے اور ڈاکٹر عبدالقدیر خان کی رہائی ججوں کی بحالی اور 1977ء کے دستور کو اس کی اصل شکل میں بحال کرے۔

انڈونیشیا میں ہزاروں افراد کا قادیانیوں کے خلاف احتجاجی مظاہرہ

جکارتہ ۔ انڈونیشیا میں آج مسلمانوں نے صدارتی محل کے سامنے قادیانیوں کے خلاف ایک احتجاجی مظاہرہ کیا اور مطالبہ کیا کہ حکومت اس فرقے پر مکمل پابندی عائد کرے ۔ تفصیلات کے مطابق مظاہرہ انڈونیشیا کی ایک مسلم تنظیم “ ایف یو آئی “ کے زیر انتظام نکالا گیا ۔ مظاہرے میں تقریبا ایک ہزار افراد شریک تھے۔ مظاہرین نے حکومت سے مطالبہ کیا کہ انڈونیشیا کی حکومت قادیانیوں کی تعلیمات اور ان کے نیٹ ورک کو ختم کرے ۔ دارالحکومت جکارتہ مین ہونے والے اس مظاہرے میں ہزاروں افراد شامل تھے۔ گزشتہ ہفتے انڈونیشیا کی حکومت نے بھی قادیانیوں کی غلط تعلیمات کی بناء پر ان پر پابندی عائد کردی تھی ۔ واضح رہے کہ ایشیا کے دوسرے ممالک کی طرح انڈونیشیا میں بھی قادیانیوں کی ایک بڑی تعداد موجودہے

ڈاکٹر بابر اعوان نے ہالینڈ کے رکن پارلیمنٹ کی قرآن مخالف فلم کے جواب میں فلم بنانے کا اعلان کردیا

اسلام آباد ۔ پیپلزپارٹی کے مرکزی رہنما وسیکرٹری مالیات سینیٹر ڈاکٹر بابر اعوان نے ہالینڈ کے رکن پارلیمنٹ کی قرآن حکیم کے حوالے سے شر انگیز فلم کے جواب مین فلم بنانے کا اعلان کیا ہے 3 زبانوں مین تیار کی جانے والی یہ فلم 100 دنوں میں مکمل ہو گی اور یکم رمضان المبارک کو ریلیز کی جائے گی۔ مسلمان حکمران مصلحت پسندی کو چھوڑ دیں ان خیالات کا اظہار ڈاکٹر بابر اعوان نے یہاں مقامی ہوٹل میں پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بین الاقوامی سطح پر مسلم تہذیب کو نشانہ بنا کر انتہا پسند اور دہشت گرد پیش کیا گیا ہے اور انفرادی اقدامات کو جواز بنایا گیا ہے ۔ حالانکہ کسی کے انفرادی فعل کو جواز بنا کر کسی مذہب عقیدے پر حملے یا یلغار کا کوئی اخلاقی جواز نہیں ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ عالمی سطح پر یہ ظاہر کیا جا رہا ہے کہ قران میں انسانی زندگی اور آبادیوں کی کو ئی قدر ومنزلت نہیں ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ ا ن تمام جھوٹے اور بے بنیاد الزامات و پروپیگنڈے کا جواب علمی اور تحقیقی سطح پر دینے کی ضرورت تھی جس کے لیے میں نے اس فلم کی تیاری کا منصوبہ بنایا ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ منصوبے کی تیاری سے قبل میں نے ہالینڈ کے پارلیمنیٹرین کی فلم حاصل کی اور اس کو دیکھا جس میں قرآن کریم کی پانچ سورتوں کی پانچ آیات کے کچھ حصے لے کر ان کو عبارت اور سیاق و سابق سے ہٹ کر بیان کیا گیا ہے اور نعوذ باللہ نبی مہربان کے خلاف شر انگیز باتیں شامل کی گئی ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس فلم میں عالمی تشدد کے قوانین کو قرآن کریم کے کھاتے میں ڈال کر کہا گیا ہے کہ قرآن کریم تشدد سکھاتا ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ قرآن کریم نے کسی قوم کو خنزیر نہیں کہا ہے لیکن اس فلم میں جھوٹ بولا گیا ہے ۔ ڈاکٹر بابراعوان نے کہا کہ اگر مسلمان اینٹ کا جواب پتھر سے نہیں دے سکتے تو کتاب کا جواب کتاب ، فلم کا جواب فلم سے تو دے سکتے ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے محدود وسائل کے ساتھ اس منصوبے پر کام شروع کردیا ہے تاکہ بین الاقوامی سطح پر قران کی حقانیت کو ثابت کیا جا سکے اور اس شر انگیز فتنے کو رد یا مسترد کیا جا سکے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس فلم کی تیاری کے لیے میں نے علماء کرام سے مشورہ کیا ہے یہ فلم 35 ایم ایم پر تیار ہو گی جس کو سو دنوں میں مکمل کیا جائے گا اس سال جس دن مکہ میں یکم رمضان المبارک ہو گا اسی دن ا س کو ریلیز کیا جائے گا۔ یہ ایک دستاویزی فلم ہو گی ۔ یہ فلم تین زبانوں عربی ، اردو اور انگریزی میں ہو گی ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ تمام میڈیا اور دوسرے لوگ اس نیک کام میں میرا ساتھ دیں انہوں نے کہا کہ اس وقت پوری دنیا میں تشدد کو روکنے کی ضرور ت ہے جس کے لیے مختلف تہذیبوں کے مسلمہ مذہبی رہنماؤں کا احترام کیا جانا چاہیئے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ مسلمان حکمران مصلحت چھوڑ کر تحقیق کا جواب تحقیق سے دیں کیونکہ خدا ہم سے اس کا جواب ضرور مانگے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قرآن کے خلاف بننے والی شر انگیز فلم کو پوری دنیا نے مسترد کردیا جس میں ہالینڈ کی حکومت ، اقوام متحدہ نے بھی اس کو مسترد کیا ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس فلم کے ذریعے اس بات کا جواب دیا جائے گا کہ قران کا ورلڈ و یو کیا ہے اور قرآن کے انسانیت اور انسانی زندگی کے بارے میں تصور اور اہمیت کے بارے میں بتائے گی ۔ اور مکروہ پروپیگنڈے کا جواب دے گی ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس قسم کی فلمیں بنانے کا مقصد تشددپھیلانے کی ساز ش ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جس طرح سے ہالینڈ کے پارلیمنٹرین نے شر انگیز فلم بنائی ہے میں نے پاکستانی پارلیمنٹرین ہونے کے ناطے اسی چیلنج کو قبول کیا ہے کیونکہ ایک ڈچ نے جو جھوٹ بولا ہے اس کا جواب دیا جاسکے اور قران ے کیس کو پوری دنیا کے سامنے پیش کیا جاسکے انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ خالص علمی منصوبہ ہے اس کو سیاسی نہیں بناؤں گا۔

سرحد دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ میں فرنٹ لائن صوبہ ہے ۔ ڈیوڈ ملی بینڈ

پشاور۔ برطانوی وزیر خارجہ ڈیوڈ ملی بینڈ نے پشاور میں صوبہ سرحد کے گورنر اور وزیر اعلیٰ سے ملاقات کی ہے ۔ ڈیوڈ ملی بینڈ ایک روزہ دورے پر پشاور آئے جہاں انہوں نے پہلے وزیر اعلیٰ امیر حیدر خان ہوتی سے ان کی رہائش گاہ پر ملاقات کی ۔ عوامی نیشنل پارٹی کے سربراہ اسفندیار ولی اور صوبائی صدر افراسیاب خٹک بھی اس موقع پر موجود تھے ۔ یہ ملاقات تقریباً دو گھنٹے جاری رہی ۔ برطانوی وزیر خارجہ نے وزیر اعلیٰ سرحد کو دہشت گردی کے خلاف خدمات انجام دینے پر تعریف کی اور کہا کہ سرحد دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ میں فرنٹ لائن صوبہ ہے اور انہیں صوبے کے عوام کی مشکلات کا علم ہے یہی وجہ ہے کہ برطانیہ اپنے امدادی اداروں کے زیر اہتمام صوبے میں عوام کی ترقی اور خوش حالی کے نہ صرف جاری منصوبوں پر کام جاری رکھے گا بلکہ نئے منصوبے بھی شروع کیے جائیں گے ۔ وزیر اعلیٰ امیر حیدر خان ہوتی نے برطانوی وزیر خارجہ کو یقین دلایا کی نئی صوبائی حکومت بھی دہشت گردی کے خاتمے کے لئے اپنی کوششیں جاری رکھے گی ۔ پشاور میں خود کش بم دھماکوں میں شہید ہونے والوں کے بچوں اور لواحقین نے بھی برطانوی وزیر خارجہ سے ملاقات کی ۔ ڈیوڈ ملی بینڈ نے صوبہ سرحد کے گورنر اویس احمد غنی سے بھی ملاقات کی جس میں گورنر سرحد نے قبائلی علاقوں کے بارے میں بریفنگ دی اور بتایا کہ قبائلی علاقوں میں امن و امان کے قیام اور شدت پسندوں کے خلاف کارروائیاں جاری ہیں ۔

اغواء کاروں نے مغوی سفیر کی رہائی کے بدلے٥ افغان طالبان جنگجوؤں سمیت ١٢ افراد کی رہائی کا مطالبہ کر دیا

پاکستانی سفیر طارق عزیز الدین کے اغواء میں تحریک طالبان ملوث نہیں۔مولوی عمرپشاور ۔ مغوی سفیر طارق عزیز الدین کے اغواء کاروں نے سفیر کی رہائی کے بدلے میں افغانستان کے پانچ طالبان جنگجوؤں کے علاوہ لال مسجد کے خطیب مولانا عبد العزیز، کالعدم تحریک نفاذ شریعت محمدی کے سربراہ مولانا صوفی محمد اور بینظیر بھٹو کے قتل میں مبینہ طور پر ملوث افراد سمیت بارہ افراد کی رہائی کا مطالبہ کیا ہے۔ادھر پاکستان میں مقامی طالبان کی تنظیم نے مغوی پاکستانی سفیر طارق عزیز الدین کی اغواء سے ایک بار پھر مکمل طورپر لاعلمی کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ اگر حکومت نے تنظیم سے سفیر کی بازیابی میں مدد کی درخواست کی تو وہ ہر قسم کے تعاون کے لئے تیار ہے۔ ایک سرکردہ قبائلی ملک نے نام ظاہر نہ کرنے کی شرط پر غیر ملکی خبر رساں ادارے کو بتایا کہ یہ معلوم نہیں ہو پا رہا کہ مغوی سفیر کو پاکستان کے قبائلی علاقے یا افغانستان میں رکھا گیا اور نہ اس بارے میں کچھ معلوم ہے کہ اغواء کار کون لوگ ہیں۔ قبائلی ملک کا کہنا تھا کہ افغان طالبان قیدیوں کے نام تو تا حال معلوم نہیں ہو سکے ہیں البتہ پاکستانی قیدیوں میں لال مسجد کے خطیب مولانا عبد العزیز، تحریک نفاذ شریعت محمدی کے سربراہ مولانا صوفی محمد، شیر زمان محسود، رفاقت، حسنین، اعتزاز شاہ اور نور خان شامل ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ اغوا کار افغانستان کے پانچ طالبان جنگجوؤں کی رہائی کا مطالبہ کر رہے ہیں جن کو حکومت پاکستان نے مغوی فوجیوں کی رہائی کے وقت رہا کرنے پر رضامندی ظاہر کی تھی لیکن بعد میں ان کو رہا نہیں کیا تھا۔ دریں اثناء تحریک طالبان پاکستان کے ترجمان مولوی عمر نے اتوار کو برطانوی خبر رساں ادارے سے گفتگو میں کہا ہے کہ ’ہم کئی بار واضح کر چکے ہیں کہ پاکستانی سفیر طارق عزیز الدین کے اغواء میں نہ تو تحریک طالبان ملوث ہے اور نہ ان کے بارے میں کچھ جانتی ہے۔ تاہم ان کا کہنا تھا کہ اگر اغواء کاروں کے مطالبات جائز ہیں تو حکومت پاکستان کو ان پر سنجیدگی سے غور کرنا چاہیے اور انہیں پورا کیا جانا چاہیے تاکہ یہ معاملہ ہی ختم ہو جائے۔ ان کے بقول ’ہمیں کچھ نہیں معلوم کہ طارق عزیز الدین کے اغواء میں کون لوگ ملوث ہوسکتے ہیں اور انہوں نے یہ واردات کس مقصد کے لیے کی ہے۔ اس سوال پر کہ پاکستانی سفیر کی رہائی کے بدلے جن افراد کی رہائی کا مطالبہ سامنے آیا ہے ان کی اکثریت پاکستانی طالبان کمانڈر بیت اللہ محسود کے حامی بتائے جاتے ہیں مولوی محمد عمر نے کہا کہ یہ ہمارے ساتھ اغواء کاروں کی ہمدردی کا اظہارہے ورنہ ہمارا اغواء کاروں سے نہ کوئی تعلق ہے اور نہ کبھی تھا۔

فیڈریشن کو بچانے کیلئے اس نازک اور سنگین مسئلے پر تمام سیاسی جماعتوں کو متحد ہونا چاہیے ۔ آصف علی زرداری

پیپلزپارٹی نے بلوچستان کے مسئلے پر اے پی سی بلانے کیلئے آصف علی زرداری کی سربراہی میں کمیٹی تشکیل دیدیبلوچستان کے مسائل کے حل کیلئے قومی اتفاق رائے پیدا کرنے کی ضرورت ہے ۔ آصف علی زرداریفیڈریشن کو بچانے کیلئے اس نازک اور سنگین مسئلے پر تمام سیاسی جماعتوں کو متحد ہونا چاہیے ۔ پیپلزپارٹی کے شریک چیئرمین کا بیاناسلام آباد۔ پاکستان پیپلزپارٹی نے بلوچستان کے مسئلے پر کل جماعتی کانفرنس بلانے کا اعلان کیا ہے اور اس کے لیے آصف علی زرداری کی سربراہی میں ایک کمیٹی تشکیل دی گئی ہے تاکہ بلوچستان کے عوام کو قومی دھارے میں شامل کیا جا سکے اور صوبے میں امن وامان قائم کیا جا سکے ۔ پیپلزپارٹی کے میڈیا سنٹر سے جاری ہونے والے بیان کے مطابق اس کمیٹی کی صدارت پیپلزپارٹی کے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری کریں گے جس میں پیپلزپارٹی کے سیکرٹری جنرل جہانگیر بدر،پیپلزپارٹی بلوچستان کے صدر میر لشکری رئیسانی ، ممبر قومی اسمبلی اعجاز جکھرانی، سینیٹر بابر اعوان اور ڈپٹی جنرل سیکرٹری پیپلزپارٹی بلوچستان سعد اللہ شامل ہیں مفاہمتی کمیٹی کو دوسری سیاسی جماعتوں اور متعلقہ افراد کو اے پی سی میں شامل کرنے کے لیے ان سے رابطے کرنے کی ذمہ داری سونپ دی گئی ہے تاہم اے پی سی کے انعقاد کی حتمی تاریخ کا اعلان سیاسی جماعتوں کی مشاورت کے بعد کیا جائے گا ممبر قومی اسمبلی اعجاز جھکرانی پیپلزپارٹی کے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری کی طرف سے دعوت نامے سیاسی جماعتوں کو بھیجیں گے ۔ اے پی سی کی تاریخ کا اعلان آئندہ دس دنوں میں متوقع ہے ۔ اپنے بیان میں آصف علی زردری نے کہا ہے کہ بلوچستان کے مسائل کو حل کر نے کے لیے قومی اتفاق رائے پیدا کرنے کی ضرورت ہے ا ور پیپلزپارٹی نے ماضی میں بلوچوں سے ہونے والی زیادتیوں کی معافی مانگ کر اس کا آغاز کردیا ہے ۔ تاہم صرف معافی مانگنا ہی کافی نہیں ہے بلکہ اس کے لئے ٹھوس اقدامات اٹھانے کی ضرورت ہے تاکہ صوبے کے عوام کو ان کے جائز حقوق دئیے جا سکیں انہوں نے اس امید کا اظہار کیا کہ اس اہم اور سنگین نوعیت کے مسئلے پر تمام سیاسی جماعتیں متحد ہوں گی تاکہ فیڈریشن کو بچایا جا سکے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ صوبائی خود مختاری ، سیاسی کارکنوں کا اغوا ، سیاسی کارکنوں کی گرفتاریاں ، غربت ، صوبوں میں فوجی آپریشن ، عوام کی مشاورت کے بغیر میگا پراجیکٹس کے آغاز سے عوام میں دوری بڑھی ہے جس کو فوری طور پر حل کرنے کی ضرورت ہے

Khosa resolves to ensure basic facilities to masses

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Dost Muhammad Khosa has said the government would take effective measures to ensure provision of quality essential commodities at reasonable prices. He said ‘thana’ culture would be improved with a view to resolving public complaints regarding police and stern action would be taken against negligent police officers.
The Chief Minister stated this during his surprise visits to Sunday Bazaar in Gulshan-e-Ravi and Shadman areas, and Shera Kot Police Station here on Sunday. He visited these areas without any police escort and protocol formalities and stopped at traffic signals like common citizen.
Later, Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed and MPA Hafiz Mian Nauman also accompanied the CM.
At the Sunday Bazaar, Khosa checked rate lists and inquired about the quality and prices of food items from the customers there.
“We are trying our best to redress people’s grievances despite the fact that present government has inherited huge crises from the previous regime,” he added.
Khosa termed it encouraging that supply of daily use items has been improved following government’s efforts and now wheat flour is available on fixed prices in Sunday Bazaars.
On this occasion, people expressed their satisfaction over the proper supply of wheat flour and other commodities.
The Chief Minister directed the administration to reorganize the Sunday Bazaars committees to ensure cleanliness and quality food items in their respective bazaars.
Taking strict notice of maintenance of sewerage system in Shadman, he ordered the concerned quarters to take necessary measures to avoid public inconvenience due to scattered pipes of sewerage on the roads and issued directions for the removal the sewerage pipes.
At Shera Kot PS, the Chief Minister directed the DSP to take remedial steps for redressal of common man’s grievances, whereas, staff posted at police nakas on roads should behave with people nicely instead of creating hurdles.
Khosa also interacted with persons kept in the lockup and was briefed by police officials about crime rate in Shera Kot and FIRs registration.

Britain to continue multi pronged long terms relations with Pakistan: David Miliband

PESHAWAR : British Foreign Secretary, Mr.David Miliband Sunday said that Britain will continue multi pronged long term relations with Pakistan for its active role in war against terrorism. Addressing a press conference here at a local hotel, British Foreign Secretary said relations between Britain and Pakistan are focused on three fields including economic, political and security.
He said British is a strong partner of Pakistan and will continue its support to the country in these sectors.
He informed newsmen that his current visit to Pakistan is second to the country and first to NWFP. He said he came to express friendship of Britain with people of Pakistan and NWFP.
British Foreign Secretary also dispelled the impression as portrayed internationally about NWFP province. He said he has not found any such threat in the province as being projected in the western countries.
He said terrorism is a global concern and also for Pakistan. The country, he continued, has faced a lot of difficulties due to its role in war against terror and is still passing through a difficult phase.
The British government, he added, has extended its support to Pakistan for countering terrorism and will continue it in future.
About his engagements during his visit to NWFP, British Foreign Secretary said he held meetings with NWFP Chief Minister and Governor. He also met with notables of tribal area and with the children of victims of war against terror.
In response to a question about American’s concern over presence of militants at Pak-Afghan bordering areas, he said Britain is also concerned, but added that, the process of reconciliation is in progress.
British Foreign Secretary said Britain support reconciliation, but is should be on clear grounds. He opined talks should be held with those who wanted to surrender or lay arms.
While responding to a question, British Foreign Secretary said Britain wanted independence of judiciary in Pakistan.
About his future engagements, he said he will hold meetings with heads of major political parties in Islamabad.
Earlier the Britain Foreign Secretary David Miliband met with NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti at his residence. The president of ANP Asfandyar Wali Khan and provincial leader Afrasiyab Khattak were also present in the meeting.
The British Foreign Secretary lauded the anti-terrorism actions of the provincial government and said NWFP was frontline province in war against terror. He said Britain realized problems faced by people and it would continue development schemes in NWFP through its donor and aid agencies.
During the meeting, the NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti assured British Foreign Secretary that new government would continue efforts to fight terrorism.

Pakistan an emerging market for foreign investment: PM

LAHORE- Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan is an emerging market rich with exciting opportunities for foreign investment in all sectors. Prime Minister was talking to a three members delegation of trade leaders led by President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Tariq Sayeed, President FPCCI Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh and founder Pak-US Business Council and Vice President, SAARC CCI, Pakistan chapter Iftikhar Ali Malik a couple of days back at a luncheon meeting at prime minister secretariat.
According to President FPCCI, Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said there is ample scope, coupled with significant opportunities for foreign private sector investment in Pakistan.
Premier observed that Pakistan is ideally located geographically with immediate access to the Central Asian Republics, and has a competitively affordable and expanding workforce of 36 million.
Pakistan’s foreign investment policy is open and liberal in South Asia, which is good news for foreign companies interested in doing business in Pakistan, he said.
Prime Minister suggested the delegation could help the foreign corporate sector identify opportunities in Pakistan’s vast resource based industries, such as oil, gas and petro chemicals,a fast growing infrastructure sector and other industries.He mentioned textiles, garments, software and automotive manufacture in this context.
Prime Minister said Pakistan is a country rich in history, culture and natural resources, adding, he was confident that foreign investment in Pakistan will reach a high point in the years to come.
Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh informed the Prime Minister that business community across the country was fully confident of the sagacious leadership of the elected coalition government led by Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Iftikhar Ali Malik, a veteran trade leader and co-chairman Businessman panel, the largest alliance of chambers in Pakistan, told the premier that it will require sustained and sound economic policies as well as effective action by the government to improve political stability and develop human resources. “In the present scenario, survival of any nation in the world now exclusively rests on better economy”.
Tariq Sayeed apprised the premier about the activities of the SCCI and its future plan to boost bilateral trade among the SAARC member countries.
Prime Minister assured the delegation that politically elected government will take all possible epoch making measures to strengthen the national economy and ensure better business friendly atmosphere, as well as investment oriented environment for local and foreign investment.
He assured that genuine problems faced by the business community will be solved on top priority and that the private sector will be fully encouraged to play its vital role for nation’s progress and prosperity.

Sherry Rehman vows to ensure freedom of expression

ISLAMABAD : The government believes in freedom of expression and would take all necessary steps to address concerns of the media. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman said this while talking to newsmen at a reception she hosted here on Sunday for journalists at Peoples Secretariat.
She said the government intends to give maximum freedom to the media and, instead of imposing anything, its criteria would be finalized after consulting all stakeholders.
“Our party respects the journalists community which always supported us in the struggle for democracy. I would also like to host a reception for photojournalists and cameramen to recognize their frontline role in journalism”, the Minister said.
The Information Minister said “If we do not address concerns of the media, it would become very difficult to move forward.”
Sherry Rehman commented that such informal meetings between media representatives and public representatives were very important because the media could guide the government as it always keeps check and balance in the society.
“It does not make any difference whether we are in power or out; basically we are public representatives and like to be among the masses,” she added.
The minister said that mediapersons have always played a responsible role in the society but they still have to be careful and “report complete quotes instead of out of context sentences for making spicy headlines as it was observed in case of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s recent interview.”
To a question about recent violence in Karachi she said that PPP activists had always become main victims of the terrorist activities in the city.
She condemned attacks on former Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim and former federal minister Dr Sher Afgan Niazi just before installation of new governments in Sindh and Punjab respectively.
Sherry Rehman said PPP was not in favour of confrontation between the institutions and wanted to carry forward the democratic process with reconciliation.
“Our leader Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life for democracy and reconciliation in the country; we would follow her foot steps to strengthen the democracy,” she concluded.

بش انتظامیہ نے شدت پسندوں کے خلاف پاکستانی علاقوں تک کارروائیاں بڑھانے سے متعلق امریکی فوجی کمانڈرز کی تجویز مسترد کردی ہے اور کہا ہے کہ پاکستانی علاقوں میں امریکی فوج کی کسی بھی کارروائی سے نومنتخب حکومت اور شدت پسندوں کے درمیان جاری مذاکرات کو نقصان پہنچ سکتا ہے۔ایک امریکی اخبار کے مطابق افغانستان میں امریکی کمانڈرز نے دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ کی کوششوں میں اضافہ پر زور دیتے ہوئے پر پاکستان کے قبائیلی علاقوں میں شدت پسندوں کے خلاف کارروائی کا مطالبہ کیا تھا۔ واشنگٹن میں امریکی انتظامیہ کے ایک اہلکار نے کہا ہے کہ امریکی کمانڈرز کی تجویز میں محدودسرحد پار پاکستان میں محدو آرٹلری حملے ،پریڈیٹر طیاروں کے ذریعہ میزائل حملے یا سی آئی اے پیرا ملٹری فورسز یا اسپیشل پریشن فورسز کی چھوٹی ٹیموں کے ذریعہ کارروائیاں شامل ہیں ۔ اخبار کے مطابق امریکی کمانڈر اس بات کو ترجیح دے رہے ہیں کہ یہ حملے پاکستانی فوج کے تحت ہوں ،تاہم قبائیلی علاقوں میں پاکستانی فوج کا آپریشن شدت پسندوں کے ساتھ مذاکرات کی وجہ سے کم ہوگیا ہے۔اخبار کا کہنا ہے کہ افغانستان میں امریکی اہلکاروں نے پاکستان میں ممکنہ اہداف کے بارے میں پاکستان میں امریکی سفیر این پیٹرسن سے سے تبادلہ خیال کیا ہے۔اخبار نے دعویٰ کیا ہے کہ پاکستان نے سی آئی اے کو قبائیلی علاقوں میں عرب اور دوسرے غیر ملکی شدت پسندوں کو ہلا ک کر نے کی محدود اتھارٹی دی ہے۔اخبار کا کہنا ہے کہ یہ واضح نہیں ہے کہ کیا سینئر حکام حملہ کے اختیار کے باے میں بحث میں شامل ہیں یا نہیں ؟ امریکی حکام کہتے رہے ہیں کہ قبائیلی علاقوں میں شدت پسندوں کے خلاف حملوں کے امکان کو رد نہیں کیاجاسکتا ۔ قومی ایشوز پر صوبوں میں عملدرآمد کرانے کیلئے مربوط پالیسی کا قیام ناگزیر ہے ۔ اگرچہ 100روزہ ایکشن پلان پر عملدرآمد جاری ہے اورعوام جلد ریلیف ملنے کے انتظار میں ہیں۔ اورتمام سیاسی جماعتوں کو ساتھ لے کر چلنا اس لئے ضروری ہے تاکہ عوام کے مسائل افہام و تفہیم سے حل ہوسکیں ۔ قومی مالیاتی کمیشن ( این ایف سی ) ایوارڈ، پانی کی تقسیم، صوبائی خود مختاری اور لوکل گورنمنٹ سسٹم میں اصلاحات کیلئے یکساں پالیسی کا قیام بھی ضروری ہے۔ پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کا دعوی ہے کہ وہ وفاق کی علامت ہے اور پارٹی کی چیئرپرسن شہید محترمہ بے نظیر بھٹو نے جمہوریت اور وفاق کے استحکام کیلئے قربانی دی ہے ۔ پاکستان کے عوام کی فلاح و بہبود اور ان کے مسائل کے حل کیلئے شہید بی بی نے جو پروگرام مرتب کیا تھا اور جو منشور دیا تھا اس کے تحت ان کی حکومت نے 100 روز ایکشن پلان بنایا ہے بقول وزیر اعظم گیلانی اس ایکشن پلان پرانھوں نے عملدرآمد شروع کر دیا ہے ۔ وفاق اور صوبوں کی سطح پر عملدرآمد سے 100 دنوں کے بعد عوام کو فوری ریلیف ملنا شروع ہو جائے گا اور عوام تبدیلی محسوس کریں گے۔ اولین ترجیح ملک سے بیروز گاری ، مہنگائی اور غربت کا خاتمہ ہے ، جس کے لیے اقدامات کیے جا ئیں ملک بھر میں معیشت کے استحکام کیلئے نئی صنعتیں ، فیکٹریاں اور ملیں قائم کی جائیں ۔ صنعتکاروں اور تاجروں کو ریلیف پیکیج دیا جائے ۔ نئے انڈسٹریل زونز قائم کرکے روز گار کے مواقع پیدا کیے جائیں چاروں صوبوں کیلئے یکساں پالیسی ہو تعلیم، صحت، ہاو¿سنگ، مواصلات اور زراعت کے شعبوں پر خصوصی توجہ دینی چاہئے۔ تعلیم کے شعبے میں انقلابی اصلاحات کی جائیں اور پرائمری تعلیم کے شعبے کو مضبوط کیا جائے وزیر اعظم کو چاہیے کہ سب سے پہلے گندم کی اسمگلنگ کو روکنے کیلئے اور عوام کو سستا اور معیاری آٹا فراہم کرنے کیلئے ہر ممکن اقدامات کیے جائیں۔پورے ملک میں بجلی کا بحران ہے اور بجلی کے بحران کو حل کرنے کیلئے قلیل المیعاد، طویل المیعاد اور درمیانی مدت کی پالیسیاں مرتب کی جا ئیں۔ جبکہ حکمران پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری نے قومی اسمبلی کے انتخاب میں شرکت کا اعلان کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ اگر ضرورت پڑی تو وہ وزیراعظم کا عہدہ سنبھال سکتے ہیں۔ اسٹیبلشمنٹ پرویز مشرف کو اقتدار میں لائی اور اب یہی قوّتیں جمہوری حکومت کے خلاف سازشیں کر رہی ہیں، موجودہ حکومت کو دو تہائی اکثریت ملی تو صدر کے احتساب کا سوچے گی۔ آصف زرداری ملک کی خاطر تصادم نہیں چاہتے،ا ان کے مطابق عدلیہ ایسی ہونی چاہیے جو انتظامیہ کے دباو¿ میں نہ آئے،انہوں نے وضاحت کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ محترمہ نے بچّوں کا گارڈین مجھے نہیں، میری بہن فریال کو نام زد کیا ہے ، تمام برطرف ججوں کو بحال کیا جائے گا اور اس کے ساتھ ساتھ عدلیہ میں اصلاحات کا پیکیج بھی پارلیمان میں پیش کیا جا رہا ہے۔آصف علی زرداری نے ججوں کے بارے میں کہا ہے کہ انہوں نے جنگ کا آغاز اس لیے نہیں کیا کہ جمہوریت کو خطرہ ہے یا نظام خطرے میں ہے، بلکہ شروعات اپنی ذات کی خاطر کی ہے کہ ان کی نوکری کو خطرہ ہے، لیکن ان کے بقول اس کے باوجود بھی وہ عدلیہ کو بحال کر رہے ہیں۔ ’ہمارے ساتھ کیا ہوا، اللہ شاہ صاحب (سپریم کورٹ کے سابق چیف جسٹس سجاد علی شاہ) کو سلامت رکھے، میں آپ کو آج ایک راز کی بات بتاوئں کہ جنگ شروع کہاں سے ہوئی۔ اصل میں ہم نے ان کے بیٹے کو نوکری دیر سے دی، ذاتی بات پر لغاری (سابق صدر سردار فاروق لغاری) اور ایک سید نے بے وقوفی کی سازش کی اور پیپلزپارٹی کی حکومت برطرف ہوئی، ملک کو کہاں لے گئی، مارشل لا لگا‘ سپریم کورٹ کے جج جسٹس فلک شیر کو سینیارٹی کی بنیاد پر چیف جسٹس بنانے کے سوال پر انہوں نے کہا ہے کہ اس بارے میں انہوں نے اخبار میں پڑھا ہے اور حقیقت وزارت قانون کو معلوم ہوگی۔ آصف علی زرداری نے کہا کہ وہ عدلیہ کو مضبوط کرنا چاہتے ہیں اور ایسی عدلیہ ہونی چاہیے جو انتظامیہ کے دبائو میں نہ آئے۔ بینظیر بھٹو کے قتل کی تحقیقات اقوام متحدہ سے کرانے کے بارے میں سوال پر انہوں نے بتایا ہے کہ آئندہ دو ہفتوں کے اندر وزیر خارجہ اقوام متحدہ کو باضابطہ خط بھیج دیں گے۔ اقوام متحدہ سے تحقیقات میں بیورو کریسی کی جانب سے رکاوٹ کے بارے میں انہوں نے کہا ہے کہ ’بیورو کریسی کی ایک رائے ضرور ہوتی ہے لیکن وہ سمجھیں کہ مکھی پہ مکھی بٹھا تے ہیں۔ لاڑکانہ سے بینظیر بھٹو کی قومی اسمبلی کی نشست پر وہ آصف اور ان کی ہمشیرہ فریال تالپور کاغذات نامزدگی جمع کرائیں گے۔ ’ بی بی شہید نے وصیت میں بچّوں کا گارڈین آصف زرداری کو نام زد نہیں کیا بلکہ ان کی بہن فریال کو کیا ہے، شاید بی بی سمجھتی ہوں کہ آصف پارٹی چیئرمین بن رہا ہو اور پیپلز پارٹی کے چیئرمین کی ذمہ داری بہت بڑی ہے اور اب تک جو بھی پارٹی چیئرمین بنا ہے شہید کیا گیا، شاید اس لیے انہوں نے فریال کو (گارڈین) مقرر کیا ہے‘ رکن اسمبلی بننے کے بعد ان سے وزیراعظم بننے کے بارے میں دریافت کیا گیا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ ضروری نہیں کہ پارٹی چیئرمین، وزیراعظم بھی بنے۔ جب پوچھا کہ کیا وہ عہد کرتے ہیں کہ وزیراعظم نہیں بنیں گے تو انہوں نے انکار کیا اور کہا کہ اگر ضروری ہوا تو وہ وزیراعظم بنیں گے۔ جب ان سے پوچھا گیا کہ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ کچھ خفیہ ہاتھ جمہوری حکومت کے خلاف سازش کر رہے ہیں، آخر یہ کون ہیں، آپ حکومت میں ہوتے ہوئے بھی ان کی نشاندہی نہیں کرسکتے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا کہ ’ان کی نشاندہی کرتے ہیں، یہ وہی قوتیں ہیں جنہیں آپ اسٹیبلشمینٹ کہتے ہیں۔‘ ’ان قوتوں نے ہی بی بی شہید سے کہا کہ سن دو ہزار سات کے الیکشن کا بائیکاٹ کریں، بی بی نے ایسا نہیں کیا تو انہوں نے دھمکی دی کہ وہ پیپلز پارٹی کو صرف سندھ تک محدود کردیں گے اور ایسا ہوا بھی لیکن بی بی شہید نے ان قوّتوں کا مقابلہ کیا، یہ وہی قوّتیں ہیں جو صدر مشرف کو اقتدار میں لائیں اور یہی قوتیں جمہوری حکومت کے خلاف محلاتی سازشیں کر رہی ہیں۔ ان کے اس جواب پر جب پوچھا گیا کہ ایک طرف آپ صدر مشرف کو سازشی قوّت قرار دے رہے ہیں اور دوسری طرف ان کے ساتھ محبت اور نفرت کا رشتہ بھی ساتھ ساتھ برقرار رکھا ہوا ہے تو آصف علی زرداری نے کہا کہ ’صدر مشرف سے محبت ہے نہ نفرت، ہم ان کی اسمبلی میں نہیں بلکہ اپنی اسمبلی میں بیٹھے ہیں، ان کا بطور صدر پارلیمان سے ایک تعلق ہے اور فی الحال اسٹیٹسکو برقرار رکھنا چاہتے ہیں۔‘ ’ہم ملک کی خاطر تصادم نہیں چاہتے، لیکن اس کا یہ مطلب نہیں کہ ہم انہیں قبول کرتے ہیں، جب بھی ہمیں دو تہائی اکثریت ملی ہم ان کا محاسبہ کرنے کا سوچیں گے۔ جبکہ وفاقی وزیر قانون و پارلیمانی امور فاروق ایچ نائیک نے کہا ہے کہ صدر اور وزیراعظم کے اختیارات میں توازن کیلئے آئینی پیکج لایا جائے گا، پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی اور اس کی اتحادی جماعتوں نے معزول ججوں کی بحالی سمیت جو وعدے کیے وہ تمام پورے کیے جائیں گے اور آئندہ چند دنوں میں سب کچھ ٹھیک ہو جائے گا، معزول چیف جسٹس کی 2013ء تک مدت میں کمی کے بارے میں کوئی بات اب تک زیر بحث نہیں آئی اور جو ٹائم فریم دیا گیا تھا اس کے ندر معاملات طے ہو جائیں گے۔ اہم فیصلہ جلد سامنے آنے والا ہے۔ اتحادی جماعتوں کی مشاورت کے بعد قومی اسمبلی میں ججوں کی بحالی کی قرارداد پیش کریں گے۔ پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی ملک میں قانون کی حکمرانی، جمہوریت، عدلیہ کی خود مختاری اور پارلیمان کی بالادستی کیلئے پ±رعزم ہے۔ ہماری عظیم قائد محترمہ بے نظیر بھٹو شہید نے اپنی جان کا نذرانہ اس مشن کی تکمیل کیلئے دیا۔ ہمارے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری محترمہ بے نظیر بھٹو شہید کے مشن کو آگے لے کر بڑھ رہے ہیں، ہم آئین اور قانون کے مطابق عمل کریں گے اور پاکستان کے عوام کوکسی کالے قانون اور امتیازی قانون سے متاثر نہیں ہونے دیں گے۔ اعتزاز احسن کے حمایت یافتہ سرحد سے تعلق رکھنے والے حاجی سید رحمن پاکستان بارکونسل کے نئے وائس چیئرمین منتخب ہوگئے ہیں۔پاکستان بارکونسل کے نومنتخب وائس چیئرمین نے صحافیوں کے ساتھ گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ اجلاس کے دوران اعتزاز احسن کو کوئی نوٹس جاری نہیں کیا گیا جبکہ بار کونسل کی تقسیم کا تاثر بھی درست نہیں ہے۔برطانوی وزیر خارجہ ڈیوڈ ملی بینڈ نے کہا ہے کہ برطانیہ افغانستان اور پاکستان میں مفاہمت کا سب سے بڑا حامی ہے ۔برطانوی وزیر خارجہ ایک روزہ دورے پر پشاور پہنچے جہاں انہوں نے گفت گو میں بتایا کہ علاقے میں سیکورٹی کا مسئلہ سب سے اہم ہے اور پاک افغان افغان باڈر کا علاقہ ان کے لئے نہایت اہمیت کا حامل ہے۔ڈیوڈ ملی بینڈ نے کہا کہ انکی حکومت سیکورٹی معاملات میں پاکستانی حکومت کے ساتھ مل کر کام کرنا چاہتی ہے۔ ایک سوال کے جواب میں ان کا کہنا تھا کہ برطانیہ پاکستان کی اقتصادی ترقی کے لئے مدد جاری رکھے گا۔برطانوی وزیر خارجہ کا کہنا تھا کہ کافی عرصے سے پاکستان مشکل حالات سے گزر رہا ہے۔ بین الاقومی امداد جاری رہے گی اور برطانیہ اپنے وعدوں کی پاسداری کرتے ہوئے ملک میں جاری ترقیاتی منصوبے جاری رکھے گا۔ایک اور سوال کے جواب میں ڈیوڈملی بینڈ کا کہنا تھا کہ ہر برطانوی شہری بے نظیر بھٹو قتل کیس کی آزادانہ تحقیقات چاہتا ہے۔ ملی بینڈ نے کہا کہ ان کی حکومت پاکستان میں آزاد عدلیہ کی حامی ہے اور چاہتی ہے کہ پاکستان کے ادارے مستحکم ہوں۔برطانوی وزیر خارجہ ڈیوڈ ملی بینڈ نے وزیر اعلیٰ سرحد امیر حیدر خان ہوتی سے ملاقات کی جس میں عوامی نیشنل پارٹی کے سربراہ اسفندیار ولی خان نے بھی شرکت کی۔ پشاور میں خود کش بم دھماکوں میں شہید ہونے والوں کے بچوں اور لواحقین نے بھی برطانوی وزیر خارجہ سے ملاقات کی۔ ڈیوڈ ملی بینڈ نے صوبہ سرحد کے گورنر اویس احمد غنی سے بھی ملاقات کی جس میں گورنر سرحد نے قبائلی علاقوں کے بارے میں بریفنگ دی اور بتایا کہ قبائلی علاقوں میں امن و امان کے قیام اور شدت پسندوں کے خلاف کارروائیاں جاری ہیں۔برطانوی وزیر خارجہ کا کوئٹہ… وزیر اعلی بلوچستان نواب محمد اسلم رئیسانی نے کہا ہے کہ وفاقی حکومت سے 220کے وی دادو خضدار ٹرانسمیشن لائن کی تعمیر کیلئے رابطہ کیا جائے گا تاکہ صوبے میں بجلی کی مسلسل ترسیل ممکن ہو سکے۔ یہ بات انھوں نے کوئٹہ میں ایک اجلاس کے دوران کہی جس میں انہیں صوبے میں پانی کے وسائل اور توانائی کے ذرائع کی ترقی سے متعلق بریفنگ دی گئی ۔ وزیر اعلیٰ نے ہدایت کی کہ صوبائی محکموں اور اداروں میں بجلی کے باکفایت استعمال کیلئے اقدامات کئے جائیں گے۔اس سے قبل اجلاس کوبتایاگیا کہ پلاننگ کمیشن نے حکومت بلوچستان کی درخواست پر دو منصوبوں کیلئے فنڈز کی فراہمی کا وعدہ کیا ہے ان میں صوبے کے ایک سو ڈیلے ایکشن ڈیموں کی تعمیر اور ناڑی دریا پر 5بند کی تعمیر شامل ہے ۔اجلاس کو گذشتہ سیلابوں سے اری گیشن اسکیموں کو پہنچنے والے نقصانات سے بھی آگاہ کیا گیا۔اجلاس کو بتایا گیا کہ مجموعی طور پر سیلاب سے 458اسکیموں کو نقصان پہنچا جن کی بحالی کے لیے 37ملین سے زائد روپے درکار ہیں۔وزیر اعلیٰ کو توانائی کے متبادل ذرائع کے حوالے سے بتایا گیا کہ متبادل توانائی کے ذرائع کی ترقی کے ادارے نے سندھ اور بلوچستان کے7874 دیہات کو متبادل ذرائع سے بجلی فراہم کرنے کی منصوبہ بندی کی ہے جس پر 25ملین سے زائد روپے لاگت آئے گی اور یہ منصوبہ 30ماہ میں مکمل ہوگا۔اس منصوبے کے تحت ہر گاؤں کو شمسی توانائی کے تحت بجلی فراہم کی جائے گی۔

British foreign minister visits Peshawar

PESHAWAR: British Foreign Secretary David Miliband on Sunday visited Peshawar, for talks with new government leaders, officials said. Miliband was scheduled to meet with provincial governor Owais Ghani and chief minister Amir Haider Hoti to discuss security issues and ongoing cooperation over development in Pakistan's tribal areas, they said. Earlier this month Britain's interior minister Jacqui Smith visited Pakistan and said that her country was urgently looking at ways to enhance anti-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan's new government. Britain is providing development aid for Pakistan, especially in its troubled tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.

Abu Dhabi to ask builders to allocate 20pc projects to low-income groups

ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi is putting forth a proposal to real estate developers for allocation of 20 per cent of their developments to low-income groups, so that enough supply could be created to calm down soaring rents and contain rising inflation.
“We are not in favour of a rent increase cap of 5 - 7 per cent a year because we are looking forward to revoking this percentage and fixing rents in the coming period,” said Butti Ahmed Al Qubaisi, assistant undersecretary, Department of Planning and Economy, Abu Dhabi, while speaking to reporters, on the occasion of announcing a weekly report on economic indicators to
be issued by the department from next week.
He said that a report on addressing and tackling inflation and soaring prices of commodities and services has been presented to the Abu Dhabi Executive Council for action.
“The report envisages a set of mechanisms to curb skyrocketing rents which is now on top of the department’s agenda,” said Butti Ahmed Al Qubaisi.
He added that the department had worked with a number of cooperative societies to fix prices of many commodities, in order to arrest spiralling inflation.
Al Qubaisi said the cooperative societies had reacted positively in this regard and an agreement was reached to unify the process of imports through one pool of cooperative societies.
He noted that foodstuff will have a weightage of 11 per cent in the new consumer price index (CPI) of seven sectors, the department is planning to issue, while the energy and transport sector will account for 8 per cent.
The assistant undersecretary said that a study conducted by the Department of Planning and Economy Abu Dhabi, for the Abu Dhabi Executive Council showed that high rents contributed 60 per cent of inflation which was set at 10.7 per cent in the year 2007 while high food prices and petrol and diesel prices account for 18 per cent and 15 per cent respectively.
“A study is being conducted now on high rents in Abu Dhabi,” he disclosed adding that only 10 to 20 per cent of people who are benefiting from high rents in Abu Dhabi come from the low and medium income group, while 80 to 90 per cent of them are those who already earn high incomes.
The prices of year 1997 would be used as base year to determine the consumer price index (CPI) he said. A law would be promulgated in weeks to setup a separate agency for statistics, which will be the sole body responsible for announcing and verifying authentic and accurate figures and statistics on the economy of the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Putin Denies He Plans to Marry Young Gymnast

´In what you said, there is not one word of truth,´ Putin said when asked about the reports by a journalist at a news briefing.


President Vladimir Putin on last two day denied he planned to divorce his 50-year-old wife Lyudmila to marry an Olympic champion gymnast, telling journalists to keep their "snotty noses" out of his private life.
A Russian newspaper had reported that Putin had secretly divorced Lyudmila in February and would marry Alina Kabayeva, a 24-year-old Russian Olympic gold medallist in rhythmic gymnastics, in the summer.
Quoting society sources in Putin's home city of St. Petersburg, the Moskovsky Korrespondent newspaper said last week that tenders had already been gone out for the wedding between the outgoing Russian president and Kabayeva.
"In what you said, there is not one word of truth," Putin said when asked about the reports at a news briefing with Italy's Prime Minister-elect Silvio Berlusconi.
"I have always reacted negatively to those who with their snotty noses and erotic fantasies prowl into others' lives," Putin said.
Putin, 55, has cultivated a tough-guy image during his eight years in the Kremlin, posing for photos aboard fighter jets, firing weapons, competing in judo as a black-belt and fishing bare-chested in the Siberian wilderness.
The former KGB spy has kept his private life out of the media and reports about his family are very rare in the Russian press, which carefully follows Kremlin guidance.
Until the news briefing in Italy, most of the Russian media had not touched the story in the Moskovsky Korrespondent, which is owned by pro-government deputy Alexander Lebedev.
Putin said media had mentioned a host of women including Kabayeva and Russian television journalist Yekaterina Andreyeva in articles about his private life.
"In other such publications other successful, beautiful young women and girls have been mentioned. I don't think it will be a surprise if I say that I like them all -- because they are all Russian women," Putin said with a smile.

Moskovsky Korrespondent said last Saturday that plans were being laid in St Petersburg for a lavish summer wedding between Putin and Kabayeva.
Lebedev several days later gave a radio interview saying journalists on the paper should back the story up or retract it. This was unusual in Russia, where media proprietors normally vet sensitive stories well in advance of publication.
The newspaper on Friday said that editorial staff did not intend to apologise "despite pressure from people linked to the owner of the paper".
Igor Dudinsky, deputy editor-in-chief, told Reuters: "We stand by our story -- we had information and we reported it."
Putin married Lyudmila, a former Aeroflot air hostess, in 1983 and they have two daughters who are both in their twenties.
A fan of theatre, music and winter sports, Lyudmila has at times looked uncomfortable with her official role. Putin is not often seen in public with her and has not taken her on most of his recent foreign trips.
Kabayeva, whose website www.alinakabaeva.narod.ru proclaims her "the most magnificent gymnast in the world", was born in Uzbekistan. She won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics for rhythmic gymnastics.
A spokeswoman for Kabayeva said of reports of her relations with Putin: "It is rubbish, all complete rubbish. Alina is not going to comment on the rubbish published by the tabloid press."
Recruited into Putin's United Russia in a drive to add glamour to the ruling party, Kabayeva was elected a deputy in the State Duma, parliament's lower house, last December, although she is not often seen there.

Sandra Bullock Involved In Head On Car Crash

Actress Sandra Bullock. and her husband Jesse James were hit last night head on by a drunk driver.
According to police there were no injuries, but both cars needed to be towed from the scene.
Lucille P. Gatchell, 64, was the driver of the car that slammed into Bullock’s vehicle. Her blood alcohol level was way over the limit at .20 and he was subsequently arrested for DUI.
“Mrs. Bullock was very personable and was concerned for (Gatchell’s) well-being,” said Police Officer Kevin Mackey, who responded to the scene.
“They were shaken up, needless to say,” said Gloucester Police Lt. Gerry Cook. “But they were fine – he was hugging her. Jess and Sandra were hugging. They said they were fine, they didn’t need medical attention. There were quite a few people snapping pictures of them.”
“It’s unfortunate,” Cook told the Herald. “But it shows you that no one is immune from drunk drivers, no matter how famous you are.”

China starts building world’s largest Panda breeding base

BEIJING -- Construction has begun on the world’s largest giant panda breeding base at a major habitat in southwest China’s Sichuan Province amid efforts to increase the population of the endangered species.
Set in Gengda Town of Wolong Giant Panda Nature Reserve, the base will be able to hold about 200 pandas.
“The new base, which stands at Huangcaoping, a primitive area 1,800 meters above sea level, is an ideal place for the protection of pandas,” said Wang Pengyan, reserve vice director.
China has 239 giant pandas in captivity. About 1,590 pandas are thought to be living in China’s wilderness, mainly in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces.

Govt. orders operation wind up in tribal areas: Saad Rafique

LAHORE: Federal Minister for cultural and youth affairs, Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that the government has ordered for halting the entire military operation and the withdrawal of forces from the tribal areas. Addressing a reception arranged in his honour here, Saad Rafique said that following February 18, the intensity of military operation has been lowered down to a great extent, while the government has ordered for the winding up of entire operation. He said that the resolution for the restoration of judges would be presented in the parliament in the next two weeks and no constitutional package would be brought along with it. He said that only three persons were now left with the President Musharraf, but he still with closed eyes wanted to retain the presidency. Khawaja Saad Rafique blamed MQM for stirring Karachi-like uproars in Multan, but the politics of TT, KK and trussed up bodies in bags would not be allowed in Punjab.

Bush administration rebuffs request for wider attacks inside Pakistan: report

WASHINGTON: Bush administration rebuffed a proposal of U.S. commanders in Afghanistan who had recently urged expanding the war effort, possibly including U.S. attacks on militants inside Pakistan's tribal areas, an American newspaper reported in its Sunday editions. Citing U.S. officials, the paper reported the requests had been rebuffed for now following internal Bush administration deliberations in which U.S. officials expressed fears that attacks could foment anger within Pakistan’s new government, which has been negotiating with the militants, and destabilize security there. One Bush administration official said the Washington discussions involved President George W. Bush's top national security aides and took place earlier this year. White House and State Department spokesmen declined to comment, as did a spokeswoman for the U.S. ambassador in Pakistan, Anne Patterson, the newspaper said. Officials said the U.S. proposals included possible limited cross-border artillery strikes into Pakistan, missile attacks by Predator aircraft or raids by small teams of CIA paramilitary forces or Special Operations forces, according to the report. The newspaper reported that U.S. commanders preferred that Pakistani forces conduct such attacks, but that Pakistani military operations in the tribal areas had declined as negotiations with the militants played out. U.S. officials in Afghanistan urging attacks in Pakistan had discussed possible targets with Patterson, the paper said. The report claimed that while Pakistan had given the CIA limited authority to kill Arab and other foreign operatives in tribal regions.U.S. officials said they had not ruled out striking Pakistani militants in the tribal areas, the report said.

ONE OF the youngest female party spokesperson for BJP, Shaina NC is also known as one of the most high-profile fashion designers and well-known socialites in India. But there is more to this lady and it’s her special touch with six yards of sari fabric.
Whether it is Dolly Thakore, Rita Metha, Zarina Khan or Shobhaa De, most discerning women seek Shaina’s signature style, as she infuses drama into every drape she creates.
Benchmarking herself as a reputed label in less than a decade, she left an indelible mark on the fashion scene of the sub continent. Inspired by her mother — Munira Chudasima who started India’s boutique revolution with Golden Thimble — Shaina carries forth this legacy with passion and sincerity.
Shaina honed her designing skills at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York and came back to create both prêt and diffusion lines.
A young mother of two, we interview Shaina as she visits Dubai to unveil a select collection of jewels and saris at Dubai Ladies Club.
How did you start designing?
To me a designer is someone who represents their time; even though I am a political graduate, my mother’s creativity was always my rudder and hence I went into design about a decade ago.
The mainstay of my work is to create something unique; what better than to reinvent our sari in an innovative manner so it is in synchrony with our current lifestyles. It might seem ambitious, but I am slowly working towards earning herself a place in the Guinness Book of World Record, for the maximum ways of draping a sari. Today, I am designing jewels (with Ramniklal Jewellers) that will compliment my attire.
So how does your work reflect the current evolution of India?
Firstly, I have realised that in today’s day and age designers need to keep individualism in the forefront. When I design for a client I keep their individual personalities in minds—designer diktats don’t work.
Also, my strength is my design is my draping; and with every new design, I seek to create a new nuance with every new design.
My work with designing ensembles for Ms India’s as they represent their nation for the international pageants is also as challenging
Why is it that we have to wait for a Jemima Khan or a Elizabeth Hurley to wear a sari for us to go ‘wow’? I am trying to raise awareness and stimulate the excitement though my design and drapes — our own trends and traditions — not diktats set by others.
What’s your design philosophy?
To me design is my chosen profession; that’s what the NC or Not Corruptible in my name stands for. It’s another reason why I am a politician but I am a designer, so I am gainfully employed.
Also, most traditional embroiders are men, but my workers are mostly woman. I seek to make a difference through my professions.
I believe in style with substance; whenever I host a showing, it’s with Woman Achievers and the proceeds from this fashion event go to a Cancer Relief fund.
How would you describe your foray into politics?
It is exciting. It’s a great learning experience. After all it’s what my training is in. Also it’s probably in my genes; my father has been involved in politics. I was a student of political science and have been interested in politics ever since I was a kid. In fact, fashion should have followed much later, but it worked the other way. My intentions are honest; fashion is my profession and politics, my passion.
What was the response from your family?
My father is very supportive. He, my husband, my brother, and mother are like my pillars. They guide me through everything, including the campaign.
So what next for Shaina NC?
Well, as a label, I will keep working on immortalising our traditions in a contemporary manner.
As a person, I work on clear tangible projects. I don’t like to just shout from roof tops.
Also I will synergise my inner creativity with my commitment.
Like the JJ paediatric ward; the children’s ward at this hospital was really drab and dark and we felt it was important to bring light in. I got artists involved and have painted 21 of these Municipal hospital wards.
Besides these, there is a lot of work we want to do for the girl child. Education of the girl child with the help of NGOs is something. I want to concentrate on. Want to win people over with my positive spirit.

Fire kills 15 during rock show in Ecuador

QUITO - At least 15 people were killed and 45 injured Saturday when a fire erupted during a rock concert inside a nightclub in Ecuador’s capital Quito, a Red Cross spokeswoman told AFP.
The fire was apparently set off by a pyrotechnics show gone wrong during the concert attended by about 100 people, said Red Cross spokeswoman Cristina Medina. “We have counted 15 dead,” she said.
Cesar Enriquez, a firefighter, said another 45 people suffered burns.

In between attending to his daughter and a night-long shooting schedule, this 37-year-old actor spoke his mind
WHAT INITIALLY seemed like a bashing of Indians’ fetish for being copycats of the West, soon gave way to an understanding of the depths of pain in an actor, Shaan, who has high expectations from Indian cinema since he believes that with greater power, comes greater responsibilities.
The international media has reported a row over why you gave the Indian premiere of Khuda Kay Liye a miss?
It’s great that the Pakistan government has supported this film by Shoaib Mansoor. But when I go to an event, it has to be coordinated by the embassy. When Shatrughan Sinha came to Pakistan, he was the guest of the state. If the premiere was such a historic event, why couldn’t Pakistani actors too be given the same honour? I’m told the premiere was a small event. Moreover, I was also given a miss from the promos. If my work isn’t appreciated, my role ought to be snipped from the film then. Why did they promote Iman Ali and not me, when I’ve played the lead? Frankly speaking, I don’t even know much about her. Till last month, I knew she was a model. Iman, I hear, now has become an actor.
Considering that you’ve done over 350 films in Pakistan, have you ever considered doing an Indian film?
I’m already recognised for my work back home, I wouldn’t wish to do an Indian film just to cash in on my identity. Even a bacteria needs a certain temperature to breed in. Since we’re talking about creativity, I need a character and a conducive environment to thrive in.
What’s your view of contemporary Indian cinema?
I’m a huge fan of Indian cinema. Omkara was a superb adaptation of Othello. I’ve liked Parzania, Chak De! India and Taare Zameen Par. Even while studying in New York, I’ve always defended Indian films when they have been criticised for being rips-offs that suffer from continuity breaks.
It’s the duty of both Indians and Pakistanis to protect each other in front of the world. But how long can you be on the defensive when most of the films made let you down? Why does every Indian actor need to unbutton his shirt? Abs do not make an actor.
Shah Rukh Khan is the Asian heartthrob. But why does he need to be a Jacko? His beard reflects the kind of cinema he is doing. If he has a beard, it means he is trying to act. Otherwise, he is doing commercial cinema. Amitabh Bachchan need not keep a ponytail or dance at every show. You can’t remix Jimi Hendrix, can you? Then why remake Sholay?

But saving a lone KKL, Pakistan too hasn’t greatly contributed to the cause of good cinema.
You expect a branded burger chain and not your local burger shop to be hygiene friendly. It’s that kind of an expectation we have from Indian cinema. You have the finances, the stars and the audience. I too have done some sick films. Sixty per cent of my audience here is uneducated. But I have tried to strike a balance. If 350 films are made in Mumbai in a year, at least 150 should be for the cause of good cinema. Instead of watching thighs of women gyrating in foreign locations and actors always playing basketball (I haven’t seen a single basketball court in Mumbai!), I’d want to see a film like Abhimaan where a heroine looks amazing in a cotton sari.
Asoka made me feel as if I was watching animal cruelty on screen. Asoka danced more than he brandished the sword. Hollywood and Pakistani actors don’t dance at weddings. Himesh Reshammiya becomes a singer in a country of pure voices! It’s been a hard fought independence for us. Why still imprison the mind and imitate the goras?

What’s stopping Indians from hiring good scriptwriters or making good contemporary adaptations of the works of Kalidas and Tagore?
Look at what cricket has been reduced to today. T20 is fun enough. But the IPL has turned into a bad version of an Indian film. The only thing left to see is Sachin dancing to a hot number on a cricket pitch with Russian models for company.
Meera has been projected as the face of Pakistani heroines in India. Would you agree?
No. Meera is a colleague who is crazy in her own way. She is a single woman, struggling to survive. Honestly, we have far more elegant faces in Pakistan who know how to act. Saima, who has put in 20 years of work in mainstream cinema, should be considered the face of Pakistani cinema. She is like the Tabu of Indian cinema.
Aren’t you exploring the global market?
Having spent years in New York, I know the Americans inside out. After graduating from the US with the highest grade, I still decided to return to my roots. I didn’t want to live there as a second grade citizen. The Americans’ onscreen portrayal is not representational of who they are.
Will you be visiting India?
I’ll be in Mumbai in May for the mixing of my directorial venture, Zilay Shah. It has the message of Sufism wrapped in entertainment. I’m also trying to release it in India’s Punjab.
