نائن الیون کو ورلڈ ٹریڈ سنٹر کے تیسرے مینار گرنے کا معمہ حل ہو جائیگا ۔ امریکی ماہرین

واشنگٹن ۔ امریکی ماہرین نے کہا ہے کہ جلد ہی یہ معمہ حل ہو جائے گا کہ نائین الیون کو ورلڈ ٹریڈ سنٹر کا تیسرا مینار کیسے گرا تھا۔ سینتالیس منزلہ مینار جسے ’ٹاور سیون‘ بھی کہا جاتا ہے ورلڈ ٹریڈ سنٹر کے جڑواں میناروں ’ٹوِن ٹاورز‘ کے تباہ ہونے کے سات گھنٹے بعد گرا تھا۔ تیسرے مینار کے بارے میں کچھ حلقوں کی طرف سے شک کا اظہار کیا گیا تھا کہ اسے خود دھماکہ کر کے گرایا گیا تھا۔ اب کہا جا رہا ہے کہ واشنگٹن ڈی سی کے قریب ہی ماہرین کے ایک گروپ کی طرف سے عنقریب مکمل کی جانے والی رپورٹ میں اس شک کو رد کر دیا جائے گا اور تیسرے مینار کے گرنے کی وجہ اس کی مختلف منزلوں پر لگنے والی آگ بتائی جائے گی۔ یاد رہے کہ ’ٹوِن ٹاورز‘ کے برعکس تیسرے مینار سے کوئی جہاز نہیں ٹکرایا تھا۔ ماہرین کی تفتیش کے بعد یہ دنیا میں فولاد سے بنی پہلی بلند و بالا عمارت ہو گی جس کے زمین بوس ہونے کی وجہ آتشزدگی ہوگی۔ نیشنل انسٹٹیوٹ فار سٹینڈرڈ اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی کے تفتیش کار ڈاکٹر شیام سندر نے بی بی سی کو بتایا کہ ان کے اندازے کے مطابق امکان یہی ہے کہ تیسرے مینار کی مختلف منزلوں پر آگ پھیل رہی تھی جو بالآخر عمارت کے تباہ ہونے کی وجہ بنی ہوگی۔ تاہم آرکیٹکٹس اینڈ انجنیئرز فار نائین الیون ٹروتھ نامی تنظیم سے وابستہ ماہرین کا کہنا ہے کہ تیسرے مینار کی تباہی کے بارے میں سرکاری طور پر بتائی جانے والی وجہ ناممکن ہے۔ ان کا کہنا ہے کہ یقیناً اس مینار کو خود گرایا گیا ہوگا۔ تنظیم کے بانی رچرڈ گیگ نے کہا کہ چھٹی جماعت کا بچہ بھی اس عمارت کو گرتے ہوئے دیکھ کر اس کی رفتار اور توازن کی بنیاد پر کہہ سکتا ہے کہ یہ مینار خود زمین بوس نہیں ہوا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جو عمارتیں خود گرتی ہیں وہ سیدھی نہیں گرتی بلکہ اس سمت جھکتی جہاں سب سے کم مزاحمت ہو۔ ’وہ سیدھی نیچے نہیں جاتیں‘۔

اسلام آباد ۔ وفاقی دارالحکومت اسلام آباد میں لال مسجد و جامعہ حفصہ آپریشن کو ایک برس مکمل ہونے کے حوالے سے منعقدہ شہداء لال مسجد کانفرنس میں مولانا عبدالعزیز کی رہائی ‘ جامعہ حفصہ کی تعمیر اور جامعہ فریدیہ کی بحالی کے لئے پرامن احتجاجی تحریک کا اعلان کر دیا گیا ۔ دینی و مذہبی جماعتوں اور وفاق المدارس العربیہ پاکستان نے تحریک کی حمایت کی ۔ لال مسجد و جامعہ حفصہ آپریشن کی تحقیقات کے لئے عدالتی کمیشن کے قیام کا مطالبہ کیا گیا ہے ۔ کانفرنس وفاق المدارس العربیہ کے سربراہ مولانا سلیم اللہ کی صدارت میں منعقد ہوئی ۔ کانفرنس میں ہزاروں شرکاء نے قبائلی علاقوں میں آپریشن بند کرنے ‘ حدود قوانین میں ترامیم کی واپسی ‘ سابقہ دور حکومت میں اسلام آباد میں شہید کی گئی مساجد کی تعمیر کے مطالبات کئے ہیں جبکہ سزائے موت کو قید میں تبدیل کرنے کو مسترد کرتے ہوئے حکومتی فیصلے کو واپس لینے کا مطالبہ کیا گیا ۔ ایکشن کمیٹی کے زیر اہتمام شہداء لال مسجد کانفرنس اتوار کو لال مسجد سے ملحقہ شاہراہ پر منعقد ہوئی ۔ اسلام آباد میں بارش کے باوجود ہزاروں افراد ‘ دینی مدارس کے طلباء اور علماء کرام اپنی جگہوں پر ڈٹے رہے ۔ آزاد کشمیر سمیت کانفرنس ملک بھر سے دینی مدارس کے طلباء اور علماء کرام نے شرکت کی اور زبرردست الفاظ میں شہداء لال مسجد کو خراج عقیدت پیش کیا ۔ کانفرنس کے پہلے سیشن میں قاضی عبدالرشید ‘ مولانا مطیع الرحمان درخواستی ‘ مولانا نجیب الرحمان ‘ مولانا عبدالمجید ہزاروی ‘ مولانا خالد محمود ‘ مولانا محمود ہاشمی ‘ مولانا عثمان یار ‘ مولانا شاہ عبدالعزیز ‘ مولانا محمد اسماعیل شجاع آبادی ‘ مولانا احتشام الحق ‘ مولانا شیر علی شاہ ‘ مفتی محمد اویس اسلام آباد سے سابق رکن قومی اسمبلی میاں محمد اسلم سمیت 30 سے زائد علماء کرام نے خطاب کیا ۔ علماء کرام نے آپریشن کے ذمہ دار صدر پرویز مشرف پر عائد کرے ان کے مواخذے اور ان کے خلاف مقدمہ درج کرنے کا مطالبہ کیا ہے ۔ فوج سے مطالبہ کیا گیا ہے کہ وہ لال مسجد و جامعہ حفصہ آپریشن کے حوالے سے اپنی پوزیشن کی وضاحت کرے ۔ کانفرنس نے قرار دیا ہے کہ 18 فروری کے انتخابات میں عوام نے لال مسجد آپریشن کے خلاف ووٹ پول کئے حکمران اتحاد اس حوالے سے عوامی مینڈیٹ کا احترام نہیں کر رہا ہے کانفرنس میں مختلف قرار داد یںمنظور کی گئیں ۔ مولانا عبدالغفار توحیدی نے قرار داد پیش کی کہ فاٹا اور سرحدی علاقوں میں آپریشن بند کیا جائے اور ان علاقوں میں مذاکرات کا سلسلہ شروع کیا جائے ۔ مولانا نعیم الحق تھانوی نے قرار داد پیش کی کہ سزائے موت کو عمر قید میں تبدیل کرنے کا فیصلہ واپس لیا جائے حکومت نے یہ اعلان کرکے اسلامی قوانین میں مداخلت کی کوشش کی ہے ۔ سزائے موت کو عمر قید میں تبدیل کرنا شرعی قوانین سے متصادم ہے ۔ ایک دوسری قرار داد میں کہا گیا ہے کہ گزشتہ ادوار میں اسلام آباد میں جو سات مساجد شہید کی گئیں تھیں انہیں تعمیر کیا جائے ۔ آئین میں ترامیم کو واپس لیتے ہوئے آئین اصلی حالت میں بحال کیا جائے ۔ کانفرنس میں مطالبہ کیا گیا کہ جامعہ حفصہ اور لال مسجد میں قرآن پاک اور احادیث کی کتابوں کی بے حرمتی میں ملوث عناصر کا محاسبہ کیا جائے ۔ اس طرح مقدس اوراق گندینالے میں ڈالنے کے مرتکب افراد کو کڑی سزا دی جائے ۔ کانفرنس میں واضح کیا گیا ہے کہ مساجد اور مدارس کے تحفظ سے کسی قربانی سے دریغ نہیں کیا جائے گا ۔ کانفرنس کے شرکاء نے دینی مدارس کے خلاف پی پی پی پی کے شریک چیئرمین آصف علی زرداری کے بیان پر تشویش کا اظہار کیا ہے ۔

ٹوکیو ۔ دنیا کے آٹھ بڑے صنعتی ملکوں جی ایٹ کی تین روزہ سربراہی کانفرنس پیر کو جاپان کے جزیرے نیوکائیڈو میں شروع ہو رہی ہے جس میں شرکت کے لیے امریکہ کے صدر جارج ڈبلیو بش پہنچ گئے ہیں۔دنیا بھر میں غذائی اشیاء اور تیل کی بڑھتی قیمتیں، عالمی ماحولیات میں تبدیلی اور زمبابوے میں سیاسی بحران جیسے مسائل اس بار کی جی ایٹ میٹنگ میں بحث و مباحث کا اہم حصہ رہیں گے۔ جی ایٹ ممالک کے تین روزہ اجلاس کے دوران سخت حفاظتی انتظامات کیے گئے ہیں۔میٹنگ کے مقام پر بیس ہزار سیکورٹی اہلکاروں کو تعینات کر دیا گیا ہے۔میٹنگ کے مقام پر بڑی تعداد میں مظاہرین جمع ہونے شروع ہوگئے ہیں اور ایک امریکی اہلکار کے مطابق وہاں موجود مظاہرین زمبابوے میں الیکشن ہونے کے باوجود صدر رابرٹ مگابے کا اپنا عہدے نہ چھوڑنے کے خلاف مظاہرے کریں گے اور جی ایٹ ممالک سے جلد از جلد زمبابوے میں نئی قومی حکومت تشکیل کرانے کا مطالبہ کرسکتے ہیں۔جی ایٹ ممالک میں برطانیہ، کینیڈا، فرانس، جرمنی، اٹلی، جاپان، روس اور امریکہ شامل ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ چین، بھارت اور جنوبی افریقہ مبصر ممالک کے طور پر اس میٹنگ میں حصہ لیں گے۔ بھارتی وزارت خارجہ کے دفتر کے مطابق میٹنگ کے دوران بھارتی وزیر اعظم امریکی صدر جارج بش سے ملاقات کریں گے اور دونوں کے درمیان ہند جوہری معاہدے سے متعلق بات چیت ہوسکتی ہے۔ بھارتی حکومت پر امریکہ کی جانب سے جلد ازجلد ہند امریکی جوہری معاہدے کو عملی جامہ پہنانے کا دباؤ ہے لیکن حکومت کا اتحادی بایاں محاذ اس معاہدے کی مخالفت کررہا ہے اور اس نے دھمکی دی ہے کہ اگر وہ معاہدے میں کوئی بھی پیش رفت کرتا ہے تو وہ حکومت سے اپنی حمایت واپس لے گا۔ ایسی صورتحال میں صدر بش اور منموہن سنگھ کی ملاقات اور ملاقات کے دوران جوہری معاہدے سے متعلق بات چیت اہمیت کی حامل ہیں۔مظاہرین کا زمبابوے کے صدر کی مخالفت کرنا جی ایٹ ممالک کو ناگوار نہ گزرے لیکن جن مسائل پر سارے رہنماؤں کو پریشانی کا سامنا ہے اور جن پرسنجیدگی سے بات چیت کرنی ہوگی وہ ہیں عالمی بازار میں تیل کی بڑھتی ہوئی قیمتیں اور غذائی اشیاء کا مہنگاہونا اور اس کا بحران کے امکانات۔ اتوار کو جی ایٹ ممالک کی میٹنگ میں شامل ہونے والے رہنما جاپان پہنچنا شروع ہوگئے ہیں اور امریکہ کے صدر جارج بش بھی جاپان پہنچ گئے ہیں اور اتوار کو ان کا 62 واں جنم دن بھی ہے ۔ ایک ایسے وقت میں جب تیل کی قیمتوں میں اضافے کے سبب پوری دنیا میں مہنگائی بڑھی ہے خدشات ہیں کہ میٹنگ کے باہر مظاہرے ہونگے اور اجلاس کے دوران کوئی ناخوشگوار واقعہ نہ ہو اس کے لیے جاپان کی حکومت نے سیکورٹی پر زبردست پیسہ خرچ کرکے 20 ہزار پولیس اہلکاروں کو تعینات کیا ہے۔ اس اجلاس کا اہتمام ایک تنہا جزیرے پر کرنے کی ایک وجہ سیکورٹی بھی ہے۔ ہفتہ کے روز اجلاس کے مقام کے قریبی شہر سپوروں میں ہزاروں مظاہرین نے مارچ کیا اور مطالبہ کیا کہ جی ایٹ ممالک ماحولیات میں تبدیلی، غربت میں اضافہ اور غذائی اشیاء کی بڑھتی قیمتوں پر قابو کرنے کے لیے سخت اقدامات کریں۔ مظاہرے کے دوران پولیس اور مظاہرین کے درمیان ہونے والی جھڑپ کے بعد چار افراد کو گرفتار کیا گیا ہے۔

من موہن حکومت میں اکثریت ثابت کریں ‘ ایڈوانی

اپنے مقاصد اور فائدے کے لئے من موہن سنگھ حکومت لوک سبھا میں اکثریت کھو چکی ہےسرکار خود کو بچانے کے لئے سودے بازی کرنے میں لگی ہوئی ہے
نئی دہلی ۔ بھارت میں حزب اختلاف کی جماعت بھارتیہ جنتا پارٹی کے رہنما اور پارٹی کے وزیر اعظم کے عہدے کے امید وار لال کرشن اڈوانی نے فوری طور پر پارلیمان کا سیشن بلانے اور وزیر اعظم سے اپنی اکثریت ثابت کرنے کا مطالبہ کیا ہے۔ دارالحکومت دلی میں موجودہ سیاسی بحران سے متعلق اپنا سخت ردہ عمل ظاہر کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے ایک نیوز کانفرنس میں کہا کہ اپنے فائدے اور مقاصد کے لیے منموہن سنگھ حکومت لوک سبھا میں اپنی اکثریت کھو چکی ہے۔ ایڈوانی کا بیان ایک ایسے وقت میں آیا ہے جب ہند ۔ امریکہ جوہری معاہدے کے معاملے پر کانگریس کے اتحادی بائیں محاذ نے حکومت سے اپنی حمایت واپس لینے کی دھمکی دے دی۔ ادھر تیسرے محاذ یو این پی اے (یونائڈٹ نیشنل پروگریسو الائنس) کی سب سے بڑی سماج وادی پارٹی نے کہا ہے کہ وہ جوہری معاہدے پر حکومت کے ساتھ ہے اور اشارہ دیا ہے کہ اگر بایاں محاذ حکومت سے حمایت واپس لیتا ہے تو وہ پارلیمان میں حکومت کی حمایت میں اپنا ووٹ دے گی۔ ایڈوانی کا کہنا تھا کہ اپنے برتاؤ کے سبب منموہن سنگھ کی حکومت حکمرانی کرنے کا حق کھو چکی ہے اور اب انہیں یہ ثابت کرنا ہوگا کہ ایوان میں ان کے پاس حکمرانی کے لیے اراکین کی مناسب تعداد ہے ۔ ایڈوانی نے زور دیتے ہوئے کہا ’یوں تو پارلیمان کا سیشن اگست میں ہونا ہے لیکن جو سیاسی غیر یقینی جاری ہے ، اسے دیکھتے ہوئے پارلیمان کا سیشن فوری طور پر بلائے جائے اور منموہن سنگھ لوک سبھا میں اکثریت ثابت کریں۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ انہیں لوک سبھا میں’ووٹ آف ٹرسٹ‘ حاصل کرنے کے لیے تجویز پیش کرنا چاہیے۔حزب اختلاف کے رہنما نے الزام عائد کیا کہ پچھلے ہفتے سے ملک میں حکومت اور حکمرانی مفلوج ہو کر رہ گئی ہے اور جہاں ایک طرف بی جے پی آئندہ عام انتخابات کی تیاری کر رہی ہے وہاں حکومت صرف خود کو بچانے میں مصروف ہے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا ’سرکار خود کو بچانے کے لیے سودے بازی کرنے میں لگی ہوئی ہے۔ کانگریس اور سماجوادی پارٹی نے ہندوستان کی سیاست میں قابل یقینی کھو دی ہے ۔ ایڈوانی کا کہنا تھا کہ ماضی میں دشمن رہی کانگریس اور سماج وادی پارٹی اب ایسی کوشش کر رہی ہیں کہ کس طرح سودے بازی کر کے ایک اتحاد بنایا جائے۔ ہند جوہری معاہدے کو لیکر ملک میں سیاسی بحران جاری ہے۔ اس وقت سب سے بڑا سوال یہ ہے اگر بائیں محاذ حکومت سے اپنی حمایت واپس لے لیتا ہے تو کیا ہوگا؟ لوک سبھا کی کل 545 سیٹیں ہیں اور اکثریت حاصل کرنے کے لیے 273 سیٹوں کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے۔موجودہ پارلیمان میں حکمراں اتحاد کے پاس 224 سیٹیں ہیں جبکہ انہیں بائیں محاذ کے 59 اراکین کی حمایت حاصل ہے۔ اگر بایاں محاذ اپنی حمایت واپس لے لیتا ہے تو حکمراں اتحاد کو اکثریت حاصل کرنے کے لیے کم از کم 50 اراکین کی حمایت کی ضرورت ہوگی۔ فی الوقت سماج وادی پارٹی کے 39 اراکین ہیں۔ اور کانگریس اس امید میں ہے کہ چھ آزاد اور چار دیگر اراکین کی مدد سے وہ آسانی سے اپنی اکثریت ثابت کر دے گی۔

PM satisfied over handling of Lal Masjid demonstration

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has expressed satisfaction over the manner in which Lal Masjid demonstration was handled today. Talking to the Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Advisor to PM on Interior, Rehman Malik and Advisor to PM on Religious Affairs Maulana Hamid Saeed Kazmi, he appreciated the authorities who facilitated the people gathered there and looked after their welfare.
The Prime Minister said the government believes in resolving all issues through dialogue and negotiations and force should be used only as a last resort. Rahman Malik told the Prime Minister that concerned authorities had been asked to ensure availability of drinking water for the people gathered at the Lal Masjid and he himself visited the place to see if everything was in place.
He said that on the directions of the Prime Minister, police was not kept visible and were given instructions to avoid the use of force.
Advisor Interior also updated the Prime Minister on overall law and order situation in the country including Bara, Khyber Agency.
He said after disbanding of the three organizations which were running parallel government in the area the situation is now calm and under complete control of civilian forces.
The Prime Minister said that it should be ensured that people have the confidence that every step taken by the government is in their best interest as well as the interest of the country.
Maulana Hamid Saeed Kazmi briefed the Prime Minister on the main features of next year’s Hajj policy and said that some changes in previous policy might be made to facilitate the Hujjaj.
The Prime Minister said the entire process should be kept totally transparent and directed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to provide better facilities to the Hujjaj during their stay in the Holy Land.
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf updated the Prime Minister on the steps being taken by the Ministry of Water and Power as part of PM’s 100-day programme for meeting energy shortage in the country. He also briefed him about his recent visit to Sindh.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far and directed the Ministry to gear up efforts to end loadshedding by the end of next year as already announced by the government.

PM for further promotion of Pak-UAE cooperation in various fields

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday received in audience the Ambassador designate to UAE, Khurshid Junejo here at the PM House. The Prime Minister termed United Arab Emirates as one of the most important countries with which Pakistan has always enjoyed cordial and fraternal ties.
He urged the Ambassador designate to concentrate his efforts for further promotion of bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, defence, health and education sectors.
The Prime Minister said that the ambassador designate should particularly focus his attention on strengthening the cooperation in the area of procurement of oil on economical terms, promotion of cooperation in agriculture sector and increased employment for Pakistanis in UAE.
He recalled with profound grief the sad demise of Prince Sheikh Nasser Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and his telephone call to UAE President, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to express his heartfelt condolences.
The Prime Minister said that he would like to personally condole the death of the departed soul with the leadership of UAE on the first given opportunity.
The Ambassador designate assured the Prime Minister that he would do his utmost to come upto the Prime Minister’s expectations and carry out his instructions for further improvement of the existing cordial ties between the two countries.

Musharraf responsible for Lal Masjid tragedy: Usmani

ISLAMABAD: Prominent religious scholar Mufti Rafi Usmani addressing the participants of the ‘Shuhada-e-Lal Masjid Conference’ Sunday held President Pervez Musharraf responsible for the Lal Masjid tragedy. “All matters were settled last year during the mosque standoff but several precious lives were lost because of President Musharraf,” Usmani said.He demanded investigation of the tragic incident, release of Maulana Abdul Aziz and reconstruction of Jamia Hafsa by the government. Maulana Abdur Rasheed Ghazi’s son Maulana Haroon Ghazi also addressed the conference. Earlier, other speakers demanded the government to probe into Lal Masjid operation, carried out by the past regime, besides rebuilding demolished Jamia Hafsa and Jamia Faridia.Conference participants also passed four resolutions unanimously which demanded immediate end of operation in tribal areas, rebuilding of seven mosques that were demolished last year by CDA in Islamabad, repelling the amendments made by previous assembly in Hudood Ordinance and government’s proposed step to transform the death penalties into life imprisonment.Strict security arrangements have been made in Islamabad in view of Conference.Barbed wire fences were stretched in and around roads leading to the Masjid whereas bomb disposable squad has also been called for.

Khyber Agency: Tribal Jirga, Political Agent hold talks

KHYBER AGENCY: A Jirga of 35 tribal elders and the Political Agent were holding talks at Khyber House Peshawar for peace in the Khyber Agency. According to ARY One World the Jirga presided over by Haji Amal decided that a three-member committee will hold talks with Afridi tribesmen. The meeting also decided to reopen Bara Bazaar and softening curfew in the area to create conducive environment for the dialogue.

Thirty-six die in Afghanistan clashes

KABUL: US-led coalition has claimed killing over 20 Taliban suspects in Kunar province of Afghanistan. The clash started when two vehicles carrying Taliban were passing through the northeastern part of the Kunar province, Afghan ministry of defence said. Meanwhile, four women and four children were killed Sunday when US-led coalition air strikes hit a wedding party in eastern Afghanistan. US-led coalition sources insisted only militants were killed in the strike.

Iran, China to produce Lifan 520 car

TEHRAN: Kerman Motor Company says the first of the Lifan 520 automobile, produced by Iran and China, will hit the Iranian market in August.The dual-fuel vehicles with 1300cc-1600cc engines can run on both gasoline and CNG, the company’s chief executive Mohammad-Reza Alinaqi said.The vehicles, manufactured by Kerman Motor Company and Chongqing Lifan Industry (Group) in Iran, will be offered for sale at a price range of $15,000 to $19,000, he added."About 300 vehicles will be available in beginning of the second half of the Iranian month of Mordad [August 5]," Alinaqi said.The Iranian company is to manufacture 5,000 Lifan vehicles by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2009).Production capacity is expected to increase to 15,000 by March 2010 and 25,000 in March 2011.The Iranian and Chinese automakers are said to target middle-income Iranians between the ages of 20 and 35.

Man tore the head of Adolf Hitler

BERLIN: Just minutes after the museum opened, the 41-year-old German man pushed aside two security men guarding the exhibit. The man tore off the head in protest at the exhibit. The police were alerted and arrested the man, who did not resist. He was being investigated for assault and damaging property. One eye-witness said he was completely shocked. "I was the first. And he was standing in front of me, beside me for more than an hour outside. We spoke to each other normally. I didn't think at all that he was planning anything. We chatted about sports and things, about all kinds of things. We also went in together and stood beside Karl Marx. Then he went on because Hitler was the third figure. And then he went behind the table and tore his (Hitler's) head off and shouted "no morewar" and then wrecked him," Andreas Fisch said.
The waxwork figure of Adolf Hitler in a mock bunker during the last days of his life was criticised as being in bad taste. A media preview of the new branch of Madame Tussauds on Thursday was overshadowed by a row over the exhibit. Critics said it was inappropriate to display the Nazi dictator, who started World War Two and ordered the extermination of Europe's Jews, in a museum alongside celebrities, pop stars, world statesmen and sporting heroes.
About 25 workers spent about four months on the waxwork, using more than 2,000 pictures and pieces of archive material and also guided by a model of the "Fuehrer" in the London branch of Madame Tussauds where it is standing upright. It is illegal in Germany to show Nazi symbols and art glorifying Hitler and the exhibit was cordoned off to stop visitors posing with him. Unobtrusive signs asked visitors to refrain from taking photos or posing with Hitler "out of respect for the millions of people who died during World War Two". Camera surveillance and museum officials were meant to stop inappropriate behaviour. Institutions such as the foundation for Germany's central Holocaust memorial site condemned the idea of the exhibit as tasteless, saying it had been included to generate business. The wax figure is the latest in a gradual breaking down of taboos about Hitler in Germany more than 60 years after the end of the war and the Holocaust in which some six million Jews were killed. The 2004 film "Downfall" provoked controversy as it portrayed the leader in a human light during the last days of his life and last year a satire about Hitler by Swiss-born Jewish director Dani Levy was released in Germany.

India opt to field against Sri Lanka

Shahbaz vows to ensure people's rights

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has vowed to ensure provision of due rights to all segments of society. Addressing an open court at his residence in Model Town here Sunday, he said that he would work for the masses as their chief servant. The Chief Minister assured the people of dispensation of justice, elimination of mafias, equal rights to every citizen and ensuring honour and respect of womenfolk. "I will make it sure that even if an influential person commits crime he must be taken to task and I will do stand with helpless and hapless people to protect their rights," he added. During the open court, a large number of people from different cities apprised the Chief Minister about their grievances and he issued on the spot orders. Most of the complaints were about land grabbing, kidnapping, murder and violence against women. The Chief Minister warned the officers concerned to pay heed to the people's complaints otherwise they would have to face the music in case of any leniency in this regard.

Conference participants reject Advisor’s offer

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik also visited the Lal Masjid area in Islamabad and monitored the security arrangements during the Shuhada-e-Lal Masjid Conference being held at the premises. He directed law enforcers to remain alert and perform their duties with full dignity.He also met with the conference participants and exchanged views over security related issues.He lauded the discipline of the participants and offered water tankers and provision of mangoes but the participants rejected the offer and asked for approval of their demands.

Affront to Chinese to skip Olympics start: Bush

TOYAKO: President Bush said Sunday he does not feel the need to boycott the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics to state his opposition to China's human rights record. Skipping the event would be an "affront" to the Chinese people, he said.Bush spoke at a news conference with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, who announced that he also plans to attend the ceremonies. Other world leaders have decided not to go as a rebuke to China's violent crackdown on anti-government protests in Tibet. The U.S. and Japanese leaders met on the eve of this year's Group of Eight meeting of industrialized nations. At the summit, presidents and prime ministers hope for a deal that would set targets for reducing the pollution that causes global warming.But few analysts expect major headway or concessions from Bush. He insists on holding China and India, fast-growing economies and among the world's biggest polluters, to the same emission-reduction standards as older, developed economies.Bush said that he hopes to get China and India to agree to a long-term goal to cut emissions. But he scaled back expectation about what the summit could achieve or what could result from meetings on the sidelines with leaders of large gas-emitting nations.The president said he was "realistic enough to tell you that if China and India don't share that same aspiration, that we're not going to solve the problem."Fukuda is seeking agreement for 50 percent overall reduction in greenhouse gases by 2050. He hedged when asked whether the U.S. was holding up any such deal.Bush arrived for his last G-8 summit as he turned 62 and with fewer than 200 days left in office. لاہور۔ پیپلز پارٹی نے گزشتہ روز 5 جولائی 1977 ء کو جنرل ضیاء الحق(مرحوم)کے اس دور کے مقبول ترین وزیر اعظم ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کو زبردستی اقتدار سے ہٹا کر مارشل لاء لگانے کے اقدام پر یوم سیاہ منایا۔ لاہور پریس کلب میں ہونے والا سیمینار جئے بھٹو زندہ ہے بی بی زندہ ہے جبکہ جنرل ضیاء الحق اور جنرل (ر) پرویز مشرف کے خلاف شدید نعرے بازی سے پریس کلب نعروں کی آماجگاہ بن گیا ۔ مقررین نے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو پاکستان کو ترقی پذیر ممالک کی صف سے نکالنا چاہتے تھے ۔ انہوں نے غریبوں اور سرمایہ داروں کے درمیان واضح فرق کو ختم کیا وہ خواہش مند تھے کہ پاکستانی قوم کو عالمی سطح پر قد آور حیثیت سے پہچانا جائے لیکن آمر نے ان کے راستے میں رکاوٹیں کھڑی کر کے مغربی طاقتوں کو خوش تا ہم تاریخ میں کبھی قاتل نہیں شہید زندہ رہتے ہیں ۔ موجودہ دور میں نظریہ تو موجود ہے مگر پیپلز پارٹی کی پالیسیاں واضح نہیں ۔ تقریب سے پیپلز پارٹی پنجاب کے سیکرٹری جنرل چوہدری غلام عباس، صوبائی اراکین اسمبلی قاسم ضیا، ڈاکٹر آمنہ بٹر، ساجدہ میر، صغیرہ سلام، کے علاوہ سینئر رہنماؤں الطاف قریشی، میاں منیر احمد، اقبال سیالوی، عزیز الرحمن چن، سابق سینئر صوبائی وزیر ملک مشتاق اعوان، سابق اراکین صوبائی اسمبلی حاجی اعجاز احمد ، سمیع اللہ خان، اشرف گل اور منیر احمد خان نے خطاب کیا ۔ اس موقع پر جیالے پیپلز پارٹی کے پرچم ہاتھوں میں تھامے بھٹو اور بے نظیر کے حق میں جبکہ جنرل ضیاء اور جنرل مشرف کے خلاف نعرے لگاتے رہے ۔ سٹیج پر بیٹھے مقررین نے بازؤں پرسیاہ پٹیاں باندھ رکھی تھیں ۔ چوہدری غلام عباس نے کہا کہ شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کی موت پر محترمہ بے نظیر بھٹو اگر جذبات سے کام لیتی اور محترمہ کی شہادت پر آصف علی زرداری حوصلے اور سمجھ بوجھ سے کام نہ لیتے تو ملک ٹکڑے ٹکڑے ہو جاتا ۔صدام حسین اور ملا عمر نے دانشمندی کی بجائے جذبات سے کام لیا دونوںممالک کی حالت سب کے سامنے ہے ہمیں اقتدار کا کوئی کالج نہیں ہماری طاقت کا سرچشمہ عوام ہے ہم اقتدار بھانٹنے والوں میں سے ہیں ۔ مضحکہ خیز بت ہے کہ ہر دور میں آمروں کی جھولی میں بیٹھنے والی جماعت اسلامی اور سیاست میو نو بلد عمران خان آصف علی زرداری پر تنقید کر رہے ہیں ۔ تمام چیزوں پر مقدم وطن عزیز کی سلامتی ہے اگر یہ ہے تو پیپلز پارٹی ہے ۔ جن سیاسی اکابرین کی خواہش ہے کہ جلد انتخابات کروائے جائیں انہیں سمجھ لینا چاہیے کہ بوٹوں تالے تاحال موجود ہیں اور اقتدار پر قبضہ کر سکتے ہیں ۔ قاسم ضیاء نے کہا کہ جب تک 73 ء کا آئین بحال نہیں ہوتا جمہوریت کی بحالی ناممکن ہے ۔ مہنگائی لا قانونیت ، بے روزگاری ورثہ میں ملی ہے عوام کی خدمت کریں گے ۔اس موقع پر الطاف قریشی ، ساجدہ میر ، حاجی اعجاز احمد ، صغیرہ اسلام ودیگر نے بھی خطاب کیا
