What do you think about the music of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom?
The music of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom is outstanding after a long time I have done a film where in the entire album every song is my favourite. There isn’t one song that I can’t say is my favourite right from the title track to any track all are very well done.
What do you think about Shankar Ehsaan Loy
Shankar Ehsaan Loy are my lucky music directors. They did the music for Dil Chahta hai, KANK, Kal Ho Na Ho and these are all films of mine in which the music has been outstanding and its really done well. Its gone down well with the audiences and I think they have upped their quotient with Jhoom Barabar Jhoom because they are so good in this movie and the variety they have is so outstanding and I think that’s why they are three of them because each one contributes so much to the film and that gives us a whole picture.
Tell us something about your character in the film
I play Alvira Khan who’s from Lahore even though she’s from Lahore she refuses to accept the fact that she is a Pakistani living in London. She’s actually British and she is more British then the queen herself and that’s the fun part. There’s a lot of layering to her she’s actually a very endearing sweet girl but she’s not this typical heroine with the salt on her nose but she has this attitude and has this image about herself and she is so into that image about herself that everything else dilutes the equation. She’s a lot of fun and she’s quite mad. I think its one of my most mad and totally energetic and crazy characters that I have played till now.
What was it about the script that made you decide to do this film?
I think the madness in the script. It’s the only film when the script was narrated to me I didn’t have any point to pick and say that there is a problem in this. It’s very fast, it moves well it’s really funny and it’s got great humour, it’s got great back story each character has a layer and more then anything else when you watch it and come outside you have this whole feeling like phew!! And that’s it!
What was it like working with Shaad Ali Sehgal?
Shaad and me started our careers together. He assisted Mani Ratnam in Dil Se and I did Dil Se as my first film to be released that time he was an assistant director and I was working in that film. I think 9 years down the line we come into a full circle now he’s directing this film and I am in it. I absolutely love Shaad and he’s one director very unassuming even if you joke about him and say he’s the only communist on the set. He also has this madness in him which translates into his cinema. You will see a mad streak in me, in Abhishekh, in Lara and also in Bobby and that’s purely because Shaad has directed this film if there was any other director you wouldn’t have seen that madness streak. I think he’s really relaxed and he’s like a sweet teddy bear with his psycho hair out.
Can you tell us something about your look in this film
It’s the first time I am working with Aki Narula and it’s been a great pleasure working with him. He’s very talented he’s this little guy but with a lot of talent and he is always open to ideas to do something new since there is a lot of layering in my character and she is a very hoity toity character so we have a lot of changes and I must say he exceeded my expectations. When Aditya Chopra and Shaad told me that they were going to get Aki I was a little nervous because I had not worked with him before but I think he has done a fantastic job.
Any outfit in the film which you would like to wear even otherwise.
All the outfits in the film are very wearable they are not any film outfits that you can only wear it to work and you can’t wear it any where else. Actually I have two outfits in the film which Aki bought for the movie and I also bought it for myself and we didn’t know that and then we ended up having the same outfit so I had this one dress which is a puffed up ball dress which I wear and the other one is this navy blue tight fitted little dress with a red bow on it so I have two of them.
What was it like working in a multi starrer film?
I started my career with Bobby he was my first co-star so this film has been quite an emotional journey in a sweet way because I worked with both Shaad and Bobby 9 year’s ago. Abhishek is psychotic he’s crazy and I love working with him. Lara again I have never worked with her but she’s a very sweet girl very hard working and we got along very well all of us and I think when you see the film you realize how well all of us got along because there is positivity in the film and there is a Jhoom equation which is happening so I hope everybody had the same experience I had working in a multi starrer.And about Mr. Bachchan what can you say about him, he is like God and I just love him.
Are you comfortable doing glamorous roles like these
As an actor I would want variety in my career, in my life and off course variety is the spice. In KANK I play a much more serious and much more sober and a little bit more groomed and little more older character. In Jhoom Barabar Jhoom it’s more fun it’s more young and ofcourse it’s glamorous. Thanks to Shaad and Adi and thanks to Aki Narula who makes such great costumes. But as along as your role demands it then it is what it is but then if your role doesn’t demand all this glamour and then to get all dolled up it’s a little off your rockers.
Any memorable incident during the shoot of the film.
We were shooting this dance sequence and it was the first day of the shoot and everyone was really excited and we were like yes we are going to go for it and I was dancing and suddenly I felt this piercing pain in my foot and I looked down Lara who is 5 ft 8inches tall and she was wearing a 5inches heel dug into my foot and made like a hole in my foot and I went like ahhhhhhhh. And then just when I was just recovering from it and I got rid of the stitches and I was getting ready to go on set again, then Bobby put his ‘Punjab da haath’ and whacked my face so I remember falling off and seeing the plane, train and the submarine together. I think leaving all this aside what ever happened we had such a blast. I think this is the first time in my career after we shot a song we were just tired and we wanted to go home and the director Shaad just put the track again and besides the actors everyone else started dancing and they danced and danced and danced and I was looking at them.
Is true love real or fantasy according to you?
Love is always real and true love is even more real. I think love is romantic
On working with Vaibhavi as a choreographer.
I think Vaibhavi has done an amazing job. I haven’t danced so much after very long time I am dancing so much. It’s a bit conceited for us to say we did this and that, I think it’s for the people to say I saw the bits of one song and it’s really well choreographed and it’s very in sync with the film and Vaibhavi is exceptionally talented and she’s very chilled out.

I haven't said yes to Karan yet: Kajol

Joint venture: Ajay Devgan and Kajol in a still from the film U, Me aur Hum. The film hits theatres on April 11. She is one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood, but Kajol, who graces the screen after a gap of two years in her home production U, Me Aur Hum, says her priority is her family.I am not going to do four films a year. I will work, but at my own speed," Kajol told IANS on phone from Mumbai.
After marriage with Ajay Devgan in 1999, the actress cut down her film roles and was occasionally seen in hits like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Fanaa.
For U, Me Aur Hum, she teams up with hubby. The film, which releases April 11, marks Ajay's directorial debut and he has written the script too.
Asked how different this film is from her other movies, the ebullient actress says: "Well, I hope it is not so different that it becomes a bad film (laughs). I won't say it is different, but it is a very special film for me."
"While working in the film I never felt constrained. In fact, it was the other way round. I felt very comfortable and at home."
Her debut film, Bekhudi, in 1992 did fairly well, but it was Baazigar with Shah Rukh Khan a year later that was her first blockbuster. She later went on to deliver some of the biggest Bollywood hits like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham opposite Shah Rukh.
"Well, I hope U, Me aur Hum is not so different that it becomes a bad film (laughs). I won't say it is different, but it is a very special film for me."Juggling multiple roles of a wife, mother, actress and judge of a TV show, Kajol is neck deep in work. "Time management is a huge issue. I'm doing it with difficulty. Even a 15-minute delay makes a lot of difference. But I think it is not impossible to manage all this, you can do it."
Commenting on the changes in the film industry in the last one decade, Kajol says this evolution is vital.
"It is very important that things should change. We should change. You will die if you don't change. In the last few years viewers have changed, their demands have changed, the business of cinema has changed, and with so many changes the parameters of Indian cinema has changed."
On rumours that she has signed Karan Johar's next venture, Kajol said: "I have not signed the film, but I am discussing it with him. When I sign, I will certainly let everybody know about it."
She is having a ball as judge on Zee TV's new reality show Rock n Roll family along with her husband and mother, actress Tanuja. "I'm really enjoying the reality show. There is so much positive energy," she said.
She has a high opinion of her fans. "I think we underestimate our fans. They are so level-headed and know where to draw the line. Only a very small percentage of fans go overboard."

Kareena is a busy bee

Although she is eager to shift as soon as possible, her hectic work schedule stops her from moving out of her current residence. In fact, Kareena’s mother Babita is so concerned about the actress’ packed schedule that she has asked badi beti Karisma to look after the shifting and the new house’s interiors while chhoti beti is busy shooting. A source close to the family says, “Bebo has been planning to shift to her new house for quite some time now. As Babita aunty is very upset because Kareena doesn’t have the time to shift, she has told Lolo to help them move as Bebo is too busy.” Didi Karisma, however, finds this very amusing. “Lolo, keeps joking about it, calls the day when little sister can shift as ‘Bebo’s day out’. Lolo also said that she too was the busiest actress earlier but something like this never happened with her. Lolo told Bebo ‘You’ve become a bigger star!’” says the source.

It's not taboo to fall in love

IT’S FINALLY out in the open. Tabu is definitely dating Upen. She is in love she told a friend. Said the source, “Tabu has been living in her own dream world up till now. After her deep disappointment with her ‘married love’, she had given up on men totally.
She knew her relationship was going nowhere. She is not the sort to ever dream of breaking up a marriage either. It pained her to be so in love with this married man; but what could she do? She could not control her heart even though her mind kept telling her that it was useless. Finally they decided to remain good friends and move on. So on one of her trips to Mumbai she met Upen and she just let herself go. She threw caution to the wind and jumped headlong into this relationship with Upen. At first it was just dating, going out and having fun. Something wild and carefree. She is usually so reserved and shy. An introvert. Upen brought out the best in her, maybe the young girl in her. He made her realise that life is to be lived maybe a little dangerously too.”
Continued the source, “ Tabu has a lot of taboo's in her book of life. She takes life a little too seriously. So here she met a guy who was so different and also single who she got attracted to. Good looking yes but intelligent too. That is rule number one in her book. She needs someone who can talk, is well read and brainy. A great mix; she had never met such a combination before.
“Tabu is a very family oriented girl. She is very close to her mother. (In fact she was quite heartbroken when her sister Farah’s marriage broke up. She tried her best to patch them up.) Upen too is a very family conscious guy. He just adores his mum. He is homely, loves to cook and is very house proud.
“Tabu suddenly found herself getting more involved with him. He could show her a serious life as well as one of fun. He would visit her in Hyderabad and they were seen together a lot. But the paparazzi are not so prevalent in Hyderabad, so they were never chased or bothered. It was only when she came to Mumbai to visit him did she get caught on camera riding a bike with Upen on Bandra Bandstand. Not only that she got Govinda and Ravi Chopra wild as hell when they read about this. Why? Because like a young and frivolous girl in love, she arrived into Mumbai from Hyderabad for the shoot but instead of reporting for shooting she rushed off to meet him without informing her secretary either.“The secretary had informed Ravi and the crew of Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai, that she would be coming straight from the airport to the sets. So the entire cast and crew waited for her to arrive. Govinda had to complete certain scenes with Tabu as he was flying off to Bangkok the following day for a long outdoor schedule. It was to be a straight 12-hour shift, which had been fixed long in advance. So after waiting for a couple of hours with Govinda getting more and more annoyed, and many phone calls to her secretary later, Ravi Chopra had no choice but to shoot Govinda’s scenes separately. They would have to put his and her scenes together later. Of course, by the time Tabu called in Govinda had left. Tabu was sorry as she did not realise that Govinda was there only for that day. Most unlike Tabu to behave so unprofessionally but then how often has Tabu done the impulsive? Of course Ravi Chopra had to forgive her, she is the heroine of his film.” laughed the source.

Pakistan in interesting times

MAY you live in interesting times! A Pakistani colleague often revisits this ancient Chinese curse when discussing the state of affairs in his country. Given the eventful history of Pakistan right from its birth in 1947, you would think the Chinese curse is at the very core of the land of the pure.
And the never-say-die people of Pakistan, many of whom happen to be close friends of mine, have developed an amazing resilience living from crisis to crisis; from one military tyrant to another, from one corrupt politician to another and from one bout of instability to the next.
And just as it's true of my own country next door, there's never a dull moment in Pakistani politics. The country does live in interesting times.
Remarkably, the people of Pakistan have endured all this without ever giving up on their hopes and optimism about a better tomorrow and a better country — as envisioned by its architects.
Just look at the watershed developments this past week. Who could have ever thought that Benazir Bhutto's Peoples Party and Nawaz Sharif's Muslim League would come together to form the country's first, largely democratic coalition government? Benazir and Sharif, both former prime ministers, were more than bitter rivals; they were once sworn enemies.
But after the cataclysmic events of the past few months, especially after the tragic assassination of Benazir, it seems anything is possible.
This is what the people, weary of the long military rule as well as the corrupt misrule of elected politicians, expected from their leaders.
The Pakistanis would not have forgiven any more self-serving, petty games on the part of their politicians at a time when their country is going through one of the most challenging existential crises in its history.
Whatever their past, Sharif, the former PM who returned home only recently after a decade in exile, and Benazir's widower Zardari deserve kudos for rightly gauging the popular mood and responding to it in the best possible manner.
Another critical message that the coalition partners have got it right is that the people are not prepared to accept any more headstrong tyrants and spineless puppets. They want Pakistan, plagued by a myriad problems created by its own leaders and friends who are not so friendly, to break free from the past and make a fresh start.
They want the leaders who are accountable to them, the people who have chosen them, not to some distant masters in Washington and London.
One can't be too sure how long this coalition of the PPP, Muslim League and other smaller parties will survive and how it's going to shape in the months and years to come. But early signs look promising.
And given the remarkable success of coalition experience in neighbouring India, Pakistan's twin and the world's biggest democracy, there are reasons to be optimistic about this new era in Pakistani politics. Ultimately, what people want is good and clean governance; a government that works and delivers on its promises.
The electorate does not give two hoots if it's a single party rule or a coalition government. What they do not want is yet another long night of misrule and abuse of power. Besides, a coalition government by its very nature ensures that parties in power keep their totalitarian tendencies that come so naturally to those in power in check.
More important, a widely representative coalition enjoys greater popular support and mandate needed to take some really bold and path-breaking steps. Pakistan badly needs such forceful action to heave it out of the unholy mess that it finds itself in today.
And this mission impossible begins with undoing what has been inflicted on the country over the past few years.
To be fair to the General, unlike the men in khaki before him, he did not force himself on Pakistan. Rather, the power was thrust on him when Sharif, the then prime minister, tried to sack him as the army chief. The army rebelled and sacked Sharif himself. The rest, as we know, is history.
Let's give the man his due. Musharraf began well and did help the country stand up economically once again, after years of political and economic mismanagement.
However, somewhere along the way, he did what most men in power invariably end up doing. He fell in love with power and with himself.
He persuaded himself he is God's gift to his people and that the country of 170 million wouldn't survive without him. And ever since, the reasonable General who once championed Enlightened Moderation has gone to absurd lengths to perpetuate his power. This is what has proved the fatal flaw of our hero. Like Faust, he bartered his soul for eternal power.
Pakistan has paid a truly incalculable price for this long preoccupation with power of his men in khaki. The reckless abuse of power and messing around with the country's institutions, essential for a civilized and peaceful society, has shockingly weakened Pakistan. The man once credited with freeing the media proved its worst enemy when he saw it as a threat to his survival.
But more than the Press, it is what the General did to the judiciary that heralded his downfall.
The new government has to undo this catastrophic damage to the nation's institutions and do it fast. Pakistan urgently needs initiatives restoring order and healing in all areas.
The process has already begun with the freeing of Supreme Court judges including chief justice Chaudhry.
Chaudhry and his fellow judges have come to symbolise hope because of their courage under fire and steadfastness in standing up to the regime.
Pakistan's new leaders appear conscious of the historic nature of their mandate. Which is why the very first order Prime Minister Gilani issued brought freedom to the judges.
Another and bigger challenge before Pakistan is the equation with the US, its traditional ally, friend and the source of many of its current woes.
For his own survival, Musharraf gave a free rein to the Americans putting the entire country and its resources at their beck and call. Pakistan and its people have paid a monumental price for the disastrous and directionless US war on terror. Thousands of innocents have died and hundreds have disappeared into the US gulags around the world, without the so-called due process.
For the first time in Pakistan's history, the bulk of its troops are fighting their own people along the border with Afghanistan. The whole of northwest frontier with Afghanistan has turned into a battlefield. Yet the Americans led by their 'fair and balanced' media continue to push Pakistan to do MORE!
If the Prez is today loathed by his own people - with his popularity ratings at 18 per cent, he is less popular than his friend Bush - Musharraf has to thank no one but his American friends.
This is why Pak-US equation needs to be urgently recalibrated. Sharif was right in bluntly telling the visiting US officials the day the new prime minister was sworn in that Pakistan is not a one-man show anymore and that all decisions including those about relations with US would be taken by the new parliament.
Sharif voiced his people's anger when he told John Negroponte that Pakistan couldn't fight the US war converting itself into a slaughterhouse any more. It's a message the Americans should have got long time ago. Too much of innocent blood has been spilt. It must stop and stop right away.
Pakistan, thanks to its sheer size and its nuclear power status, is the leader of the Muslim world. It must lead by example.
It cannot remain the shady henchman of a reviled neighbourhood bully terrorising its own people.
It should show the world that Islam, democracy, progress and enlightenment can go together.

Dollar near lows against euro

NEW YORK - The dollar edged toward record lows yesterday against the euro after U.S. data showed inflation pressures were tame in February, affirming expectations of further interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve to boost a weakening economy.
The dollar did get a brief boost on a rise in personal income. But this was offset by the slight increase in spending, the smallest since September 2006, which suggested consumption - normally the buttress of the U.S. economy - was not providing its usual support.
On a month-over-month basis, core PCE (personal consumption expenditure) was as expected and no impact there,” said George Davis, chief technical strategist at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto.
“On a year-over-year basis, the outcome was slightly weaker than expected and the same thing for the deflator. So from that aspect, it points to a more benign outlook for inflationary pressures. Perhaps a small negative for the dollar but fairly small,” he added.
In early New York trading, the euro was up 0.2 per cent at $1.5818, less than a cent below last week’s historic peaks at $1.5904. Against the yen, the euro rose to 157.48.
The euro was also boosted by inflation-focused comments from a euro zone policy-maker, which strengthened the view that the ECB is unlikely to cut rates any time soon. Speaking after data from four German states pointed to a likely inflation pick-up in the euro zone’s biggest economy and thus in the 15-nation bloc as a whole, ECB Governing Council member Axel Weber said price pressures were alarmingly high.

Global economy may cause policy shifts: China

SHANGHAI - China will keep monetary policy tight for now but recognises it might need to adjust the strength and timing of policy in response to changes in the global economy, a vice governor of the central bank said.
The potential threat to Chinese economic growth from the U.S. credit crisis has not prompted China to abandon its tight monetary policy, because fighting inflation remains its priority, Yi Gang was quoted as saying by Saturday’s official Beijing News.
“But we will pay attention to adjusting the strength and timing of policy according to the domestic and international situation,” he told an academic forum on Friday.
Yi also said the central bank understood that its monetary policy might not be able to control inflationary pressure from external factors, such as rising global prices of oil, grain and other commodities.
“Tight monetary policy is better at controlling domestic factors. But there are some international factors which a country’s monetary authorities cannot necessarily control completely,” he was quoted as saying.
His remarks were a fresh indication that although China’s consumer price inflation hit an 11-year high of 8.7 percent in February, the central bank was prepared to ease monetary policy if necessary to prevent a slowing global economy from cutting Chinese growth sharply later this year.
In fact, bond traders believe the central bank has already eased policy quietly to some degree, allowing more liquidity to remain in the domestic money market compared to the end of last year. They think the central bank might only hike official interest rates once more this year, and possibly not at all.
At the forum, Yi rejected the idea that the U.S. credit crisis showed the development of financial derivatives had a negative impact on economies by spreading risk. He said China’s development of derivatives was not excessive.
“So in setting policy we must not throw the baby out with the bathwater, but must continue to promote and encourage financial innovation while limiting risks,” he said.

Pakistan board will not stop rebels playing in England

KARACHI - Pakistan’s cricket board will not try to stop players from the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) taking part in English county cricket, officials said on Saturday.
“Our policy on the ICL players is clear. They are not contracted to us nor are they eligible to play in any tournament in Pakistan. But if they go and play county or shield cricket we can’t stop them,” Shafqat Naghmi, the chief operating officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told Reuters.
“We have no legal or moral reason to stop ICL players from playing in any event in any other country apart from Pakistan,” he said.
“If anyone in any other country wants to play them it is their decision.”
Around 16 players from Pakistan are appearing in the ICL, a Twenty20 event in its second year, at the moment. The PCB has banned ICL players from playing domestic cricket.
The ICL is bankrolled by the controllers of India’s largest listed media firm but has not been sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

US urges China to open Tibet to media, diplomats

BEIJING - The US embassy in Beijing on Saturday criticised China for its handling of a trip to the Tibetan capital Lhasa for foreign diplomats and demanded that foreign journalists and diplomats should have free access to Tibet and the areas of unrest.
The statement came amid a two-day visit, which began Friday, which China organised for a delegation of Western diplomats, including from the US, Germany, Britain, France and Australia, to Lhasa.
But the US said that the visit was so tightly controlled that the diplomats had no opportunity to deviate from the travel schedule, or to talk independently with Lhasa residents without the Chinese escorts listening in.
The group of more than a dozen diplomats was due to return to Beijing later Saturday. On Friday, they were brought together with government officials in Lhasa and other selected individuals for talks. The diplomats also were taken to see houses damaged in the unrest two weeks ago.
Meanwhile China publicly said Saturday that each family of 18 people killed in the March 14 unrest would receive 200,000 yuan (28,560 dollars) in compensation, the official Xinhua agency reported.
By Tibetan exile accounts, some 140 people had died in the unrest, many of them shot by Chinese police.

Pakistani PM Gilani says terrorism main priority

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani laid out plans on Saturday for his government’s first 100 days, saying the fight against terrorism, poverty and unemployment would be on top of his agenda.
Gilani, a top official from assassinated former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s party, secured the unanimous approval of the National Assembly earlier on Saturday without a vote of confidence after the opposition said it supported him.
A new prime minister is required by the constitution to secure the backing of the lower house of parliament.
Shortly after the National Assembly speaker announced that Gilani had secured unanimous approval, he began to lay out his coalition government’s plans.
“Terrorism and extremism are our greatest problems. They have put the country in danger. Therefore, it is our first priority to bring peace to the country and fight terrorism,” Gilani said.
The government would be willing to talk to militants who laid down their arms, he said.
Bhutto’s party won the most seats in a Feb. 18 parliamentary election and is forming a coalition with the party of another former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, and two smaller parties.
The election was a setback for President Pervez Musharraf, with the main party that backs him coming a poor third.
Musharraf has been a steadfast U.S. ally since the Sept. 11 attacks but his support for the U.S.-led campaign against terrorism has been deeply unpopular with many Pakistanis.
Two senior U.S. officials visited Pakistan this week and were told the new government was determined to fight terrorism but it would adopt a new approach to be determined by parliament, as opposed to Musharraf setting policy single-handed.
Militants responsible for a wave of bombings and attacks on the security forces in recent months are based in remote ethnic Pashtun tribal areas on the Afghan border, which have been ruled under separate, colonial-era, laws from the rest of the country.
Gilani said the tribal areas needed comprehensive economic, social and political reforms and the region’s separate laws would be scrapped, as human rights groups have long demanded.
Economic problems
Last month’s election was a major step in restoring civilian rule in nuclear-armed Pakistan, which has been ruled by the military for more than half its history since 1947.
Gilani praised the new army chief for his steps to remove the military from civil affairs.
He did not mention Musharraf but said his government would ”play a role” in reinstating judges Musharraf dismissed in November.
The coalition partners have pledged to reinstate the judges Musharraf sacked out of fear they would rule as unconstitutional his re-election in October by the old assembly. If reinstated, they are expected to take up legal challenges to the president.
Gilani’s government has inherited a range of economic problems including widening trade and fiscal deficits, rising prices and power shortages.
He told parliament poverty was a huge problem and his government would seek to create jobs in the public and private sectors with a target of work for at least one member of every family in half of the country’s districts.
He promised to raise the price farmers are paid for wheat to increase supplies, and to generate another 2,200 MW electricity within a year.
He also promised belt-tightening and said his government opposed “VIP culture”. The budget at the prime minister’s official residence would be slashed and his ministers would have to fly economy class.
On foreign policy, Gilani hailed Pakistan’s close ties with China and said he wanted stable relations with the United States and Europe and a peaceful Afghanistan.
He said his government would “take forward” negotiations with old rival India on the Himalayan region of Kashmir, the main source of dispute between the neighbours.

Taliban attack Afghan power plant

KABUL - Taliban insurgents blew up a power station in the southern Afghan province of Helmand on Saturday, killing two people and wounding eight, police said.
The power station, in the district of Girishk, is the main source of electricity for the area.
“Two employees of the station were killed and eight other people including two passers-by were wounded in the explosion,” said provincial police chief, Hussain Andiwal.
“The building was damaged but the power supply machinery is safe,” he said.
Taliban militants planted hundreds of roadside bombs and conducted scores of suicide bomb attacks in 2007 in Afghanistan, contributing to a record year of violence that killed 6,000 people, nearly 2,000 of them civilians.
The militants, fighting to expel foreign forces and bring down the Western-backed government, have also attacked infrastructure projects.
The Afghan government and its Western backers hope they can undermine any support for the Taliban by providing basic services such as power, roads and water for irrigation, as well as security.
Separately, Afghan and foreign forces killed and wounded a number of Taliban insurgents in a joint operation in the southern province of Uruzgan on Friday, the Ministry of Defence said.
Elsewhere, Afghan police killed three Taliban insurgents, wounded four and detained six in a clash in the southwestern province of Nimroz on Friday, a senior police official said.
The Taliban have vowed to intensify attacks on Afghan and foreign troops countrywide and launch a wave of suicide bombings in their campaign this year.

عوام کو مفت شناختی کارڈ دئیے جائیں ،وزیر اعظم یوسف گیلانی

اسلام آباد…وزیر اعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی نے ایوان سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ عوام کو مفت شناختی کارڈ دئیے جائیں گے۔انہوں نے کہا ہے خود کش حملوں میں جاں بحق اور زخمی ہونے والے افراد کے لواحقین اور ورثا ء کی مالی امداد میں اضا فہ کیا جائے گا۔

عدلیہ کی بحالی پر کوئی سمجھوتہ نہیں کریں گے،چوہدری نثار

روزمرہ استعمال کی اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں گزشتہ ہفتے0.18 فیصد اضافہ رہا، وفاقی ادارہ شماریات

اسلام آباد...ملک بھر میں 27 مارچ کو ختم ہونے والے ہفتے کے دوران3 ہزار روپے تک کے کم آمدنی والے گروپ کیلئے روزمرہ استعمال کی اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں گزشتہ ہفتے کے مقابلہ میں 0.18 فیصد اضافہ ہوا۔ وفاقی ادارہ شماریات سے ہفتہ کو جاری اعدادوشمار میں کہا گیا ہے کہ اس ہفتے میں ایس پی آئی180.95 ریکارڈ کیا گیا جو اس سے قبل 180.62 تھا۔ کمبائن گروپ کیلئے ایس پی آئی میں 0.64 فیصد اضافہ ہوا ۔ اعدادوشمار کے مطابق3000-5000 آمدنی والے گروپ کیلئے 0.30 فیصد،5000-12000 آمدنی والے گروپ کیلئے0.52 فیصد اور 12 ہزار سے زائد آمدنی والے گروپ کیلئے 0.69 فیصد اضافہ ہوا ۔ ہفتے کے دوران10 اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں کمی اور 22 اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں اضافہ جبکہ21 اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں استحکام رہا۔ جن اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں کمی آئی ان میں ایل پی جی سلنڈر، گڑ، گھی، لہسن ، چینی، آٹا، چنے کی دل، آلو اور مونگ کی دال شامل ہیں جن اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں اضافہ ہوا ان میں انڈے، چکن، ٹماٹر، سرخ مرچ، کوکنگ آئل، پیاز، چاول اری6 ، گوشت ، کپڑے دھونے کا صابن، مسور کی دال، مٹن، دودھ، ماش کی دال، باسمتی چاول، مٹی کا تیل اور سرسوں کا تیل شامل ہیں۔

دور روزہ عرب سربراہ کانفرنس دمشق میں شروع ہو گئی

دمشق...عرب لیگ نے کہاہے کہ مشرق وسطیٰ میں امن عمل کیلئے عرب ممالک تکلیف دہ موقف اختیار کرسکتے ہیں۔ادھرشام کا کہنا ہے کہ لبنان کابحران ختم کرنے کیلئے ایسی کوششوں میں ساتھ دیاجائے گاجس میں قومی اتحاد کی رعایت رکھی گئی ہو۔عرب ٹی وی کے مطابق بیسویں عرب سربراہ اجلاس کے شرکاء سے دمشق میں خطاب کرتے ہوئے عرب لیگ کے سیکریٹری جنرل عمرو موسیٰ نے کہا کہ عرب دنیامیں باہمی عدم اعتماد ناقابل قبول حد تک پہنچ چکا ہے۔ اینا پولس کانفرنس کے بعد سے اسرائیل امن کے مواقع ضائع کررہا ہے۔ عمرو موسیٰ نے کہا کہ وہ اس سال کے وسط میں عرب وزرائے خارجہ اجلاس میں امن سے متعلق ٹھوس موقف اختیار کرنے پر زور دیتے ہیں۔فلسطین میں سیاسی اختلافات کا خاتمہ ہونا چاہئے۔عرب لیگ لبنان سے متعلق اپنے منصوبے پر عملدرآمد کیلئے جلداہم اقدامات کرے گی۔اس سے پہلے اجلاس کا افتتاح کرتے ہوئے شام کے صدر بشار الاسد نے کہا کہ غزہ پٹی کامحاصرہ ختم ہونا چاہئے ، گولان کے پہاڑی علاقے کی واپسی کے بغیر خطے میں امن قائم نہیں ہوسکتا ۔ بشار الاسد نے کہا کہ وہ فلسطینی گروپوں میں مصالحت کیلئے یمن کے منصوبے کی حمایت کرتے ہیں ، عراق کی صورت حال بھی اپنی تشویش کا اظہار کرتے ہو ئے ان کا کہنا تھا کہ بے قصور افراد کے خلاف دہشت گردی قابل مذمت ہے۔ ذرائع کے مطابق شام کے صدر نے گزشتہ سربراہ اجلاس کے میزبان سعودی عرب سے صدارت لئے بغیر ہی اجلاس کا افتتاح کیاجو پروٹوکول کی خلاف ورزی تھی ۔ادھر ریاض میں پریس کانفرنس کے دوران سعودی وزیر خارجہ سعود الفیصل نے کہا کہ ان کے پاس سربراہ اجلاس کے بائیکاٹ کے سوا کوئی راستہ نہیں تھا۔شام کی جانب سے لبنان کے بحران کے حل کیلئے عربوں کا موقف تسلیم نہ کرنا بائیکاٹ کی اہم وجہ ہے۔

قومی اسمبلی:وزیراعظم کا پالیسی تقریر میں انقلابی اقدامات کا اعلان

اسلام آباد…وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی نے قومی اسمبلی میں اپنی پالیسی تقریر میں انقلابی اقدامات کا اعلان کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ گندم کی امدادی قیمت510 روپے سے بڑھا کر 625 روپے فی چالیس کلو گرام کر دی گئی ہے۔ان کا کہنا تھا کہ طلبہ اور ٹریڈ یونیز پرسے پابندی اٹھا لی گئی ہے جب کہ پیمرا کو اتھارٹی کے بجائے وزارت اطلاعات کا ذیلی ادارہ بنایا جائے ۔قومی اسمبلی کے اجلاس کے آغاز میں مسلم لیگ قاف ،ایم کیو ایم ،پیپلز پارٹی شیر پاؤ اور مسلم لیگ فنکشنل نے وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی کی حمایت کا اعلان کیا ۔اعتماد کا ووٹ لینے کے بعد اپنے خطاب میں وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ وہ اس ماہ مبارک میں میں اپنے انتخاب پر اللہ کے شکر گزار ہیں۔انہوں نے اس موقع پر قائد عوام شہید ذوالفقارعلی بھٹو،بے نظیر بھٹو شہید ،پیپلز پارٹی کے چیرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری ، شریک چیرمین آصف زرداری اور پارٹی کارکنوں کا شکریہ اداکیا۔وزیراعظم نے نواز شریف ،اسفندیار ولی خان،الطاف حسین ،پیر صاحب پگارا ،آزاد امیدوار اور دیگر جماعتوں کے قائدین کا اپنے اوپر اعتماد پر شکر یہ اد اکیا ۔وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی نے کہا کہ ہمارے ایک عظیم رہنما کو عدالتی قتل کے ذریعے راستے سے ہٹا گیااور دوسرے رہنما کو ان طاقتوں نے قتل کیا جو قانون کی حکمرانی نہیں چاہتیں۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ وہ تمام اداروں کو مستحکم بنائیں گے تاکہ ملک میں استحکام ہو۔وہ اے پی ڈی ایم کی جماعتوں کو ساتھ لے کر چلیں گے۔ان کی حکومت کو قوم تمام صوبوں کا اعتماد حاصل ہے۔وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ ملک میں امن او امان کی بحالی اوردہشت گردی کا خاتمہ اولین ترجیح ہے۔ دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ پاکستان کی اپنی جنگ ہے۔حکومت ان تمام لوگوں کے ساتھ بات چیت کے لیے تیار ہے جو ہتھیار پھینک کر امن کا راستہ اختیار کریں گے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ قبائیلی علاقوں میں معاشی اور سیاسی اصلاحات کی ضرورت ہے۔دولت کی غیر منصفانہ تقسیم پر گز برداشت نہیں کی جائے گی۔وزیراعظم نے بے روز گاری ، مہنگائی اور غربت کو دوسرا بڑا مسئلہ قرار دیا ۔انہوں نے چیف آف آرمی اسٹاف کی جانب سے سول اداروں سے فوجی افسران کی واپسی کے اعلان کوخوش آیند قرار دیا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ جن چند سول اداروں میں فوجی افسروں کی ضرورت ہے وہاں فوجی افسران کو تعینات کیا جا سکتا ہے۔سول اداروں سے فوجی افسروں کی واپسی دو ہفتوں میں مکمل ہو جانی چاہیے ۔ وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ بائیس سو میگا واٹ بجلی پیداکرنے کے لیے نئے یونٹس لگائیں جائیں گے۔پانچ سو میگا واٹ بجلی بچانے کے لئے عوامی سطح پر مہم شروع کریں گے۔ملک میں چھوڑے ڈیم بنا کر پانی اور بجلی کا مسئلہ حل کرنے کی کوشش کریں گے۔واپڈا کو بڑے ڈیموں کی تعمیر کے لیے فزیبلیٹی بنانے کی ہدایت کر دی گئی ہے۔کیٹی بندر منصوبے پر کام شروع کرنے کے لیے سرمایہ کاری کی دعوت دی جائے گی۔انہوں نے کہا کہ وزرا اکانومی پلس میں سفر کریں گے۔وزیر اعظم ہاؤس کے بجٹ میں چالیس فیصد کمی کی جائے گی اور وزرا سولہ سو سی سی سے زائد گاڑی استعمال نہیں کریں گے۔قومی اسمبلی میں پہلی بار وزیر اعظم سے وقفہ سوالات شروع کیا جائے گا۔ ائیر پورٹ پروی آئی پیز کے لیے خصوصی کاؤنٹر ختم کیے جائیں گے۔سرکاری عمارتوں پر غیر ضروری چراغاں ختم کر دیا جائے ۔۔نجی اور سرکاری شعبوں میں ملازمتیں پید اکرنے کے لیے منصوبہ بندی کی جائے گی۔ملک بھر میں نیشنل ایپلائمنٹ اسکیل شروع کی جائے گی۔مدارس میں یکساں نصاب اور دی جانے والی رقوم کا آڈٹ کیا جائے گا۔ملک میں ہر سال دس لاکھ نئے ہاؤسنگ یونٹس کی تعمیر کے لیے اسکیم شروع کی جائے گی۔دیہی علاقوں میں بے گھر لوگوں کے لیے پانچ مرلہ گھروں کی اسکیل شروع کی جائے گی۔یوسف رضا گیلانی نے کہا کہ مزدوروں کی کم سے کم اجرت چھ ہزار روپے ماہانہ کی جا ئے گی اور جہوریت کی راہ میں قربانی دینے والوں کے اہل کانہ کو وظائف دیے جائیں گے۔وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ حکومت عدلیہ کی آزادی اور ججز کی بحالی کے لیے کردار ادا کرتی رہے گی ۔سی این جی بسوں کو عام کیا جائے گا تاکہ ماحول میں بہتری لائی جائے۔کسانوں کے لیے انشورنس اسکیمیں شروع کی جائیں گی۔نہری کھالوں کو پختہ کیا جائے گا ۔وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ پیمرا کو اتھارٹی کے بجائے وزارت اطلاعات کا زیلی ادارہ بنایا جائے گا۔ میڈیا کی آزادی کے مفافی تمام قوانین کا جائزہ لے کر منسوخ کیا جائے گا ۔موجودہ قانون انتہائی ناقص ہے۔فریڈم آف انفارمیشن کے قانون کا خاکہ حکومت کے پاس موجود ہے۔آئی آر او 2002کا فوری خاتمہ کیا جائے گا۔وزیراعظم نے طلبہ اور ٹریڈ یونینز پر ر عائد پابندیاں ختم کرنے کا اعلان کیا ۔ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ملک بھر میں سیاسی کارکنوں کی رہائی حکومت کی اولین ترجیح ہو گی۔وہ جیو اور جینے دو کے اصول پر یقین رکھتے ہیں ۔وزیراعطم نے کہا کہ وہ کشمیری بھائی بہنوں کو یقین دلاتے ہیں کہ ان کی قربانیاں رائیگان نہیں جائیں گے ۔مضبوط اور پر امن افغانستان ہی پاکستان کے مفاد میں ہے۔اسلامی دنیا کے ساتھ تعلقات مزید مستحکم بنائیں گے، چین سے تعلقات کو پاکستان کی خارجہ پالیسی میں بہت اہمیت حاصل ہے ۔اقلیتوں کے تمام قانونی ،سیاسی ،معاشی اور معاشرتی حقوق کو یقینی بنائیں گے۔

جسٹس رمدےکاگھر خالی کروا لیا گیا

جسٹس خلیل الرحمان رمدے آج کل لاہور میں قیام پذیر ہیں
سپریم کورٹ کی انتظامیہ نے پی سی او کے تحت حلف نہ اُٹھانے والے جج جسٹس خلیل الرحمن رمدے کا ججز کالونی میں گھر کو خالی کروا کر اسے پی سی او کے تحت حلف اُٹھانے والے جج موسی کے لغاری کو الاٹ کر دیا ہے۔
پولیس اور اسلام آباد کی انتظامیہ نے جسٹس خلیل الرحمن رمدے کا سامان گھر سے باہر پھینک دیا اور جسٹس موسی کے لغاری کا سامان ان کے گھر میں رکھ دیا۔
ججز کالونی میں جسٹس خلیل الرحمن رمدے کے ملازم کا کہنا ہے کہ پولیس اور سادہ کپڑوں میں ملبوس سرکاری ملازم ان کے گھر میں داخل ہوئے اور خلیل الرحمن رمدے کا سامان اُٹھا کر باہر پھینک دیا۔
علاقے کے پولیس انچارج ڈی ایس پی ملک ممتاز کے مطابق انہیں سپریم کورٹ کی انتظامیہ کی طرف سے ہدایات موصول ہوئیں کہ ججز کالونی میں صورتحال خراب ہورہی ہے جس کے فوری بعد پولیس کی بھاری نفری وہاں پر بھجوا دی گئی۔
اس واقعہ کی اطلاع ملنے کے بعد وکلاء اور سول سوسائٹی کے ارکان کی بڑی تعداد ججز کالونی کی طرف جانے لگی تو اسلام آباد پولیس کے اعلی حکام کے حکم پو پولیس اہلکاروں نے ان افراد کو ججز کالونی نہیں جانے دیا گیا۔
تاہم کچھ وکلاء اور زرائع ابلاغ کے نمائندے معزول چیف جسٹس افتخار محمد چوہدری کے گھر کے باہر پہنچنے میں کامیاب ہوگئے اور انہوں نے وہاں پر احتجاجی مظاہرہ کیا۔ اس موقع پر اسلام آباد کے ایس پی کامران عادل ججز کالونی میں پہنچ گئے اور انہوں نے مظاہرین کو یقین دلایا کہ معزول جسٹس خلیل الرحمن رمدے کا گھر خالی نہیں کروایا جائےگا جس کے بعد وکلاء نے احتجاج ختم کر دیا۔
مشیر برائے امورِ داخلہ کی جانب سے یقین دہانی کروائی گئی ہے کہ گھر کا قبضہ جسٹس رمدے کے ملازمین کے پاس ہی رہے گا اور ان سے یہ گھر خالی نہیں کروایا جائے گا۔

واضح رہے کہ جسٹس موسی کے لغاری کو پہلے پی سی او کے تحت حلف نہ اُٹھانے والے جج سردار رضا خان کا کھر الاٹ کیا گیا تھا لیکن وہ اپنے اہلخانہ کے ہمراہ ججز کالونی میں رہ رہے ہیں اور انہوں نے گھر خالی کرنے سے انکار کر دیا۔اس کے علاوہ سپریم کورٹ کی انتظامیہ نے معزول چیف جسٹس افتخار محمد چوہدری سمیت ججز کالونی میں رہائش پذیر چار ججوں کو گھر خالی کرنے کرنے کا نوٹسز جاری کیے تھے۔
جسٹس خلیل الرحمن رمدے کا کہنا ہے کہ وہ دو نومبر سنہ دو ہزار سات کو ویک اینڈ پر لاہور گئے تھے اور تین نومبر کو ملک میں ایمرجنسی کے نفاذ کے بعد انہیں لاہور میں نظر بند کردیا گیا اور ان کی نظر بندی نئے منتخب وزیر اعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی کے حکم کے بعد ختم کردی گئی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ان کے گھر میں اہم مقدمات کی فائلیں تھیں جس کے ضائع ہونے کا خطرہ ہے۔
معزول چیف جسٹس افتخار محمد چوہدری کے ترجمان اطہر من اللہ کے مطابق جسٹس خلیل الرحمان رمدے کوگھر خالی کرنے کے حوالے سے کوئی نوٹس جاری نہیں کیا گیا تھا اور اس ضمن میں جب ان کا سامان گھر سے باہر پھینکا جا رہا تھا اُس وقت کوئی مجسٹریٹ موجود نہیں تھا۔ انہوں نےبتایا کہ اس حوالے سے انہوں نے وزیراعظم کے مشیر برائے امورِ داخلہ سے اس بارے میں بات کی ہے اور ان کا کہنا ہے کہ’اس معاملے کی فوری انکوائری کا حکم دیا گیا ہے تاکہ پتہ چلایا جا سکے کہ اس سازش کے پیچھے کس کا ہاتھ ہے‘۔
اطہر من اللہ نے بتایا کہ انہیں مشیر برائے امورِ داخلہ کی جانب سے یقین دہانی کروائی گئی ہے کہ گھر کا قبضہ جسٹس رمدے کے ملازمین کے پاس ہی رہے گا اور ان سے یہ گھر خالی نہیں کروایا جائے گا۔ اس حوالے سے جب سپریم کورٹ کے رجسٹرار اور دیگر افسران سے بات کرنا چاہی تو بارہا کوشش کے باوجود ان سے رابطہ نہیں ہو سکا۔

اسلام آباد ۔ ملک کی سیاسی جمہوری ور پارلیمانی تاریخ میں پہلی مرتبہ نو متنخب وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی پر پوری قومی اسمبلی نے اعتماد کا ووٹ دیا ہے ۔ اتفاق رائے سے منتخب سیاسی جماتوں کی جانب سے نو منتخب وزیراعظم پر اعتماد کا اظہار کیا گیا ہے اس ضمن میں قرارداد کو اتفاق رائے سے منظور کیا گیا ہے ۔ وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی نے قومی اسمبلی کے اجلاس کے آغاز میں اپنے خطاب میں کہا ملکی سالمیت، استحکام اور مثبت جمہوری پیغام کے لیے اپوزیشن اعتماد کے ووٹ میں ان کا ساتھ دیں ۔ منتخب سیاسی جماعتوں نے وزیراعظم کا ساتھ دینے کا اعلان کیا پاکستان مسلم لیگ(ق) کے پارلیمانی لیڈر فیصل صالح حیات نے کہا کہ وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے جو بات کی ہے کہ اعتماد کے ووٹ میں اپوزیشن ان کوووٹ دیں ۔ اپوزیشن اراکین بالخصوص مسلم لیگ(ق) سے مشاورت کے بعداتفاق رائے سے فیصلہ کیا ۔ اعتماد کے ووٹ میں وزیراعظم کا ساتھ دیں گے مسلم لیگ(ق) کے اٹھارہ فروری کے بعدقومی یکجہتی کے لیے جمہوری سفر کے آغاز کے حوالے سے اس وقت بھی پہل کی اور قوم کے مینڈیٹ کو تسلیم کیا ۔ انتخابات کے بارے میں تحفظات بھی نہیں منقسم مینڈیٹ تھا۔ ہم نے کھلے دل سے نتائج کو تسلیم کیا ۔گزشتہ کئی دنوں سے قومی مفاہمت کی بات ہو رہی ہے ایوان میں بھی اس کی آواز سنی گئی پاکستان کو درپیش مسائل اور چیلنجز سے نمٹنے کے لیے وزیراعظم کو قوم کی مکمل حمایت محسوس کی جا رہی ہے ۔ جذبہ خیر سگالی اورنئی جمہوری پارلیمانی روایت کے فروغ کے لیے اپوزیشن نے مثبت طرز عمل کا فیصلہ کیا ۔ انتخاب کے وقت بھی حکومت کے مثبت اقدامات ، جمہوریت کے استحکام اور اسے فروغ کے لیے مسلم لیگ(ق) اعتماد کے ووٹ میں وزیراعظم کا ساتھ دے گی۔ پاکستان مسلم لیگ(فنکشنل ) کے پارلیمانی لیڈر جہانگیر ترین نے کہا کہ صاف شفاف انتخابات ہوئے۔ قوم کے فیصلے کا احترام کرنا چاہیے ۔ عوام کایہی مینڈیٹ ہے ۔ کہ سیاستدان ایک دوسرے سے محاذآرائی اور مقابلے میں نہ گزاریں انتخابات ختم ہو گئے اب ملک کو چلانا ہے ۔ عوام کا مینڈیٹ یہ ہے کہ مل جل کر کام کریں عوام کے معاسی اقتصادی مسائل کو حل کریں اس طرح ملک کامیاب رہے گا عوام جلد از جلد معاشی ترقی اور اس کے ثمرات چاہتے ہیں مسلم لیگ(فنکشل) نے بھی سید یوسف رضا گیلانی کو اعتماد کے ووٹ کا فیصلہ لیا ۔ انہیں پوری اسرائیکی ویب کی جانب سے مبارکباد دیتا ہوں ۔ایم کیو ایم کے پارلیمانی لیڈر ڈاکٹر فاروق ستار نے کہا کہ خیر سگالی کے جذبے کے تحت انتخاب میں وزیراعظم کی حمایت کی طرح اعتماد کے ووٹ کا فیصلہ کیا ہے ہم بھی قرار داد میں محرک ہیں یہ تاریخی موقع ہے کہ نیا جمہوری سفر شروع ہو رہا ہے یہی وسیع البنیاد اشتراک عمل کا بین ثبوت ہے ۔ پی پی پی ( شیر پاؤ) کے سربراہ آفتاب احمد خان شیر پاؤ نے کہا کہ صوبہ سرحد میں بھی یہی جذبہ سامنے آیا ہے صوبے سپیکر و ڈپٹی سپیکر بلا مقابلہ متنخب ہوچکے ہیں ۔ مل جل کر عوام کی توقعات پر پورا اتر سکتے ہیں ۔ ایوان کی بالادستی کے لیے وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی کی حمایت کرتے ہیں ۔ ایوان میں احسن اقدام ہوا ۔ نئی تاریخی پارلیمانی روایت قائم ہوئی ہے پارلیمانی لیڈر ز کی تقاریر کے بعدپی پی پی کے رہنما نوید قمر نے قرار داد پیش کی یہ ایوان اسلامی جمہوری پاکستان کے دستور آرٹیکل 91 کی شق کے تحت وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی پر اعتماد کرتا ہے۔ محرکین میں نوید قمر سمیت ، احسن اقبال ، اسفند یار ولی خان ، ڈاکٹر فاروق ستار ، منیر خان اورکزئی ، میاں منظور وٹو ، مولانا قاسم شامل ہیں ۔ سپیکر نے گنتی کا اعلان کیا جس پر اسفند یار ولی خان نے کہا کہ گنتی کی کیا ضرورت ہے بلا مقابلہ قرارداد منظور ہو چکی ہے جس پر سپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے اتفاق رائے سے قرار داد کی منظوری کا اعلان کیا ۔

پاکستان اقتصادی بحران سے بچنے کے لیے ٹھوس اقدامات اٹھائے ، عالمی بینک

نیویارک ۔ عالمی بینک نے پاکستان کی نو منتخب حکومت سے کہا ہے کہ وہ اقتصادی بحران سے بچنے کے لیے تیزی کے ساتھ ٹھو اقدام اٹھائے ورلڈ بینک کے نائب صدر پرافل پٹل نے کہا ہے کہ پاکستان کو عالمی سطح پر اشیائے خورد و نوش اور تیل کی قیمتوں میں بڑھتے ہوئے بے حد اضافے کے باعث تکلیف دہ اقدامات کرنا ہوں گے۔ پاکستان کے تین روزہ دورے سے واپسی کے بعد صحافیوں سے بات چیت کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہاکہ پاکستان میں فی الوقت کوئی بحران نہیں لیکن معاشی حالت بہتر بھی نہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ حالیہ مہینوں میں گندم اور دیگر خوراک کی قلت کے باعث فاقہ کشی بڑھی اس کے علاوہ توانائی کی بھی قلت کا سامنا ہے ۔انہوں نے کہاکہ عالمی بینک کی خواہش ہے کہ اسلام آباد کی فنی معاونت میں اضافہ کیا جائے گا تاکہ وہ اپنی غربت پر قابو پانے کے لیے اقدامات کرے ۔

وفاقی کابینہ کے سینئر وزراء کو پہلے مرحلہ میں بعض وزارتوں کے اضافی چارج بھی دئیے جائیں گے ، شیری رحمان

اسلام آباد۔ پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کی مرکزی سیکرٹری اطلاعات شیری رحمان نے کہاہے کہ وفاقی کابینہ کے سینئر وزراء کو پہلے مرحلہ میں بعض وزارتوں کے اضافی چارج بھی دئیے جائیں گے ۔ عوام کو ریلیف کی فراہمی کے لیے حکومت ہنگامی بنیادوں پر کام کرے گی ۔ ہفتہ کو پارلیمنٹ ہاوس میں صحافیوں سے بات چیت کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہاکہ پہلے مرحلہ میں وزارتوں کو حتمی شکل دی جا چکی ہے ۔پہلے مرحلے میں 23 ، 24 وزراء حلف اٹھائیں گے ۔ ایک سوال کے جواب میں انہوں نے کہاکہ پہلے 100 روز کا پلان آف ایکشن اتحادی جماعتوں کی مشاورت سے تیار کیا گیا ہے پارٹی اور پارلیمانی عہدے الگ الگ کرنے کا معاملہ نیا نہیں ہے ۔انہوں نے کہاکہ ہم نے پارٹی پر بھی توجہ دینا ہے ۔ بے نظیر بھٹو کی شہادت کے خون کے قطرے کا پہلا رنگ وزیر اعظم کی حلف برداری کے بعد ظاہر ہوا ہے۔ ایک سوال کے جواب میں انہوں نے کہاکہ وفاقی کابینہ کے لیے سمری ایوان صدر نہیں بھجوائی گئی ۔

ُفوج قومی اور پیشہ وارانہ ذمہ داریاں ادا کرے ، حکومت میں فریق نہ بنے ۔ مولانا فضل الرحمان

اسلام آباد۔ جمعیت علماء اسلام کے سربراہ مولانا فضل الرحمان نے کہا ہے کہ وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی پر بطور وزیراعظم جس اعتماد کا اظہار کیا گیا ہے ۔ میں دل کی گہرائیوں سے اس پر وزیراعظم کو مبارکباد پیش کرتا ہوں یقینا یہ پاکستان کی تاریخ میں پہلی بار ہوا ہے کہ وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی کو سب سے زیادہ ووٹ ملے ہیں اور متفقہ طورپر ان پر اعتماد کا اظہار بھی کیا گیا ہے۔ یوسف رضا گیلانی سیاسی اور روحانی خانوادے کیساتھ ساتھ پسماندہ علاقے سے بھی ہیں ۔ ان خیالات کا اظہار انہوں نے قومی اسمبلی کے اجلاس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا انہوں نے کہا کہ یقینا ان کا وزیراعظم کے طور پر انتخاب ملک کے محروم طبقوں کے لیے امید کی کرن ثابت ہو گا ۔ آج انہوں نے اپنے خطاب میں سو دنوں کے لیے جو راہنما پالیسی دی ہے میں اس اصول کی بنیاد پر بات کرنا چاہوں گاجس اصولی کا تعین قومی حکومت کر رہی ہے کہ فیصلے پارلیمنٹ میں ہوں گے اب یہ بات وضاحت طلب ضرور ہے کہ جو کچھ وزیراعظم نے فرمایا طے شدہ فیصلے ہیں یا ان کی ترجیحات اور تجاویز ہیں جو انہوں نے ایوان کے سامنے رکھیں اور اب اس پر مذاکرہ ہو گا اس پر مباحثہ ہو گا ۔ مشاورت ہو گی اور پارلیمنٹ کی مشاورت سے کسی حتمی فیصلے پر پہنچنا ہو گا ۔ بنیادی بات کہ جس میں اداروں کی تقویت کی بات کی گئی ہے اس حوالے سے ہمیں اسی بات کو مد نظر رکھنا ہو گا کہ ہمیں ایک مضبوط اورطاقتور پاکستان چاہیے ۔ ماہرین آئین ضرور ا س بات کی تائید کریں گے کہ مملکت اس کو کہا جاتا ہے کہ پارلیمنٹ وفاقی حکومت صوبائی اسمبلیاں اور حکومتیں اور تمام وہ ادارے جو چونگی وصول کرنے کے مجاز ہوں جب ہم مملکت کی اس تعریف کو دیکھتے ہیں آئین کے اوراق پر تو ہمیں یہ سبق ملتا ہے کہ عوام کے منتخب ادارے اسی کا نام مملکت ہے لیکن عملاً ہمیشہ منتخب اداروںکی اہمیت کو ختم کیا جاتا رہا ہے اور فوج جو ملکی اداروں میں سے ایک ادارہ ہے اس نے خود سٹیٹ کی حیثیت حاصل کر لی اور جس کو دستور مملکت کہنا ہے اس کو ہمیشہ زمین بوس کیا گیا اسے قتل کیا گیا ۔ جہاں ہم کس چیز کو مملکت کہیں ۔ میں سمجھتا ہوں فوج قومی ادارہ ہے لیکن جب فوج اقتدار پر قبضہ کرتی ہے تو اس پر تنقید بھی کی جاتی ہے ہم سمجھتے ہیں کہ فوج کو اپنی قومی اور پیشہ وارانہ ذمہ داری ہی ادا کرنی چاہیئے اور اسے حکومت میں فریق نہیں بننا چاہیے۔ اور اس طرح پاکستان طاقتور اور مضبوط نظر آئے گا میرا ایک ذاتی تاثر اور تجزیہ ہے کہ ہمارے جیسے ترقی پذیر ممالک کی سیاست پر اثر انداز ہونے والے عوامل داخل بھی ہو رہے ہیں ۔ اور خارجی بھی ہوتے ہیں ۔ داخلی عوامل زیادہ منظر پرنطر آتے ہیں لیکن بین الاقوامی مناظر پس منظر میں ہوتے ہیں جس کی وجہ سے ہم داخلی عوامل کی بنا پر فیصلے کرتے ہیںلیکن سوویت یونین کے خاتمے کے بعد اور عالمی سیاست میں ایک محوریت آجانے کے بعد اور نائن الیون کے واقعہ کے بعد ہماری ملکی سیاست پر بین الاقوامی عوامل زیادہ موثرنظر آرہے ہیں ۔ اس حوالے سے میرا تاثر یہ ہے کہ ہم اس ایجنڈے میں اپنے داخلی عوامل پر زیادہ زور دے رہے ہیں ضرورت اس امر کی ہے کہ تمام داخلی اور خارجی عوامل پریکساں توجہ دی جائے ۔انہوں نے کہا کہ پارلیمنٹ کو تمام پہلوؤں پر مساوی نظر ڈالنی چاہیئے ۔

اسلام آباد۔ مسلم لیگ(ن) کے مرکزی رہنما مخدوم جاوید ہاشمی نے کہا ہے پیمرا آرڈنینس کے خاتمے سے میڈیا آزاد ہو گیا ہے ۔اور ایف سی آر کا خاتمہ بھی ایک انقلابی قدم ہے فاٹا کا جشن آزادی ثواب ہوگا آج پارلیمنٹ ہاؤس میںمیڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے مخدوم جاوید ہاشمی نے کہا کہ قبائلی علاقے کے لوگوں کا جشن آزادی ثو اب ہو گا ۔ اور یہی ان کا چودہ اگست ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ قبائلی علاقوں سے انگریز کا کالا قانون ختم ہو گیا ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ وزیراعظم کی طرف سے مزدوروں اور کسانوں کے لیے کیے گئے اعلانات بھی قابل تحسین ہیں لیکن اب قوم دیکھے گی کہ کس طرح ان اعلانات پر عمل کیا جا سکتا ہے اور کس طرح سے ہم سب مل جل کر ان پر اعلانات پرعملدرآمد کرتے ہیں انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم پر امید ہیں کہ ان اعلانات کو یقینی بنایا جائے گا۔ اور ہماری حمایت وزیراعظم کے ساتھ مکمل حمایت ہو گی انشاء اللہ قوم سرخرو ہوگی۔ مخدوم جاوید ہاشمی نے کہا کہ وزیراعظم کی تقریر کے ساترھ ہی بجلی پیدا ہونا شروع نہیں ہو جائے گی ابھی تو عزم کااظہار کیا گیا ہے کیونکہ جن مسائل میں ہماری قوم گھری ہے اس سے فورا نہیں نکالا جا سکتا انہوں نے کہاکہ کچھ اعلانات پر تو ایگزیکٹو آرڈر کے ذریعے ہی فوری عملدرآمد شروع ہو جائے گا۔ اور باقی اعلانات پر بھی ہم فوری کام شروع کریں گے۔ اگر ہم نے ان پر عملدرآمد ہ کیا گیا تو قوم ہمیں کبھی معاف نہیںکرے گی انہوں نے کہا کہ خواہش ہے کہ اللہ کرے کہ لوگوںکو آسانیاں اورخوشی ملے

وزیر اعظم کا پیمرا آرڈیننس ختم کرنے کا اعلان

اسلام آباد ۔ وزیر اعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے 3 نومبر کے کالے پیمرا آرڈیننس کو ختم کرنے کا اعلان کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ میں اس پر فوری عملدرآمد کرنے کا حکم دیتا ہوں ۔ یہ بات انہوں نے آج ہفتہ کو نماز ظہر کے وقفہ کے بعد دوبارہ شروع ہونے والے قومی اسمبلی کے اجلاس میں کہی ۔ وزیر اعظم نے کہا کہ میں ایوان میں اپنی تقریر کے دوران پیمرا قوانین کے حوالے سے وضاحت کرتا ہوں کہ 3 نومبر کو نافذ کرنے والے پیمرا قوانین میں ترمیم کے ذریعے کالے قوانین کو فوری ختم کرنے کا اعلان کرتا ہوں اور اس پر فوری عملدرآمد کرنے کا حکم دیتا ہوں انہوںنے کہاکہ سیاسی انتقام کے حوالے سے پائے جانے والے ابہام کو دور کرنا چاہتا ہوں ۔ سندھ میں نگران سٹیپ چل رہا ہے ابھی صوبائی حکومت کے اقدامات ہمارے پاس نہیں آئے ہیں ۔ قومی اسمبلی کے رکن اسمبلی غوث بخش مہر کے خلاف درج کئے گئے مقدمے کی تفصیلات طلب کر لی ہیں ۔ سندھ میں جو بھی حکومت سازی کا عمل مکمل ہو گا فی الفور اس کی انکوائری کی جائے گی۔

اسلام آباد ۔ چیف جسٹس ، جسٹس عبدالحمید ڈوگر کے حکم پر سپریم کورٹ کے معزول جسٹس خلیل الرحمن رمدے کی جوڈیشل اینکسی کو تالے توڑ کر خالی کر الیا گیا سپریم کورٹ کے انتظامی عملے نے سارا سامان گھر سے باہر منتقل کر دیا ۔خلیل الرحمان رمدے نے کہا ہے کہ میری رہائش گاہ پر ایک اہم کیس کا انتہائی قیمتی ریکارڈ موجود تھا‘جس کی فکر ہے خلیل الرحمن رمدے3 نومبر کے اقدام کے تیسرے چوتھے روز لاہور اپنے ذاتی گھر منتقل ہو گئے تھے جہاں انہیں 24 مارچ تک نظر بند رکھا گیا اب ان کی جوڈیشل اینکسی کو پی سی او کے تحت حلف اٹھانے والے سپریم کورٹ کے جسٹس، جسٹس موسیٰ لغاری کو الاٹ کردیا گیا ہے ۔ تفصیلات کے مطابق ہفتہ کی شب ساڑھے 8 بجے کے قریب سپریم کورٹ کے انتظامی عملے نے سپریم کورٹ کے معزول جسٹس، جسٹس خلیل الرحمن رمدے کی اینکسی کو اچانک خالی کرانا شروع کردیا اور ان کے دو ذاتی ملازمین عارف اور سلیم کو گھر سے باہر نکال دیا تاہم یہاں وکلاء اور صحافیوں اور سول سوسائٹی نے سیکورٹی اہلکاروں سے احتجاج کرکے انہیں واپس اندر بھجوا دیا ۔ ۔ سپریم کورٹ کے انتظامیہ امور کے انچارج اور ایڈیشنل انچارج کا کہنا ہے کہ انہیں سپریم کورٹ کے چیف جسٹس، جسٹس عبدالحمید ڈوگر کی طرف سے حکم ملا ہے کہ خلیل الرحمن رمدے کی اینکسی کو خالی کر ا دیا جائے اور ان کی جگہ پی سی او کے تحت حلف اٹھانے والے جسٹس، جسٹس موسیٰ لغاری کو رہائش فراہم کی جائے ۔سپریم کورٹ کے رجسٹرار کا کہنا ہے کہ چونکہ خلیل الرحمن رمدے 3 نومبر کے عبوری آئینی حکم کے باعث معزول ہو چکے ہیں اور ان کی سرکاری رہائش ختم ہو چکی ہے ۔ اس لیے وہ یہ رہائش اب نہیں رکھ سکتے ۔ ہفتہ کو خلیل الرحمن رمدے واپس اسلام آباد میں اپنے خاندان سمیت منتقل ہونے کی تیاریاں کر رہے تھے کہ گھر کے ملازم نے انہیں فون پر بتایا کہ ان کے گھر کے تالے توڑ کر ان کا گھریلو سامان منتقل کیا جارہا ہے اور سامان گھر کے برآمدے میں رکھ دیا گیا ہے اسلام آباد انتظامیہ سے رابطہ کرنے پر بتایا گیا کہ خلیل الرحمن رمدے کے گھر کو خالی کرانے کیلئے کوئی ایگزیکٹو آرڈر جاری نہیں کیا گیا تاہم پولیس کی بھار ی نفری فوراً ججز کالونی پہنچ گئی اور انہوں نے یہاں جمع ہونے والے وکلاء کو کالونی کے اندر داخل ہونے سے روک دیا تاکہ کسی قسم کا کوئی ناخوشگوار واقعہ رونما نہ ہو ۔ جسٹس خلیل الرحمان رمدے نے ایک انٹرویو میں کہا کہ گھر خالی کرانے کا مجھے کوئی علم نہیں کیونکہ میں لاہور میں ہوں البتہ وہاں میرے گھر میں موجود میرے ملازم نے فون پر مجھے بتایاہے کہ سپریم کورٹ کے عملے نے کمروں کے تالے توڑ کر سامان باہر پھینک دیا۔ خلیل الرحمان رمدے نے کہا کہ میں چونکہ لاہور میں ہوں اس لیے کچھ نہیں کر سکتا جہاں اتنی تہذیب سے گری ہوئی حرکتیں برداشت کی ہیں وہاںایک اور تہذیب سے گری ہوئی حرکت کو برداشت کرلیا جائے ۔ خلیل الرحمان نے کہا کہ میرے ملک کے سولہ کروڑ عوام سمجھتے ہیں کہ میں ابھی تک جج ہوں اس لیے کسی جج سے سرکاری گھر خالی کرانے کاسوال ہی پیدا نہیں ہوتا لیکن اگر ڈوگر یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ میں ریٹائر ہو چکا ہوں تو پھر بھی ریٹائرڈ جج کو گھر خالی کرانے کا چھ ماہ کا عرصہ دیا جاتا ہے رمدے نے کہا کہ بدقسمتی سے میں پانچ ماہ سے لاہور میں قید ہوں۔ اور اگر اس دوران میں اس گھر کو خالی کرنے کے لیے سامان اٹھانا بھی چاہتا تو میرے لیے ممکن نہیں تھا کیونکہ میں تو قید میں تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس گھر میں میرا بہت سا قیمتی سامان تھااور مجھے جس چیز کی زیادہ فکر ہے وہ یہ ہے کہ وہاں کسی خاص مقدمے کا بہت سا قیمتی ریکارڈ پڑا تھا۔ خلیل الرحمان رمدے نے کہا کہ شریف آدمی اس طرح کی حرکت نہیں کرتے کہ کسی کا بغیر اطلاع کے سامان باہر پھینک دیا جائے ۔ادھر پیپلز پارٹی کی مرکزی سیکرٹری اطلاعات شیری رحمان نے کہا ہے کہ ججوں کے گھروں کو خالی کر وانے کے حوالے سے وزیر اعظم کی طرف سے کوئی ایگزیکٹو آرڈر نہیں دیا گیا عوام حوصلہ رکھے ایک نجی ٹی وی سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے انہو ں نے کہا کہ میرے علم کی حدتک وزیر اعظم کی طرف سے ایسا کوئی حکم نہیں دیا گیا ۔ انہو ںنے کہا کہ نہ ہی کوئی ایسا آرڈر ہو ا اور نہ ہی ہم نے کوئی ایسا فیصلہ کیا ہے کہ کسی کو گھر سے بے دخل کیا جائے انہو ںنے کہا کہ ابھی تو ہماری کابینہ بنی بھی نہیں اور ایسی غلط فہمیاں پیدا کی جا رہی ہیں میں نہیں جانتی کہ ایسا کیوں ہوا ہے۔ واضح رہے کہ 3نومبر کو جاری ہونے والے پی سی او کے تحت سپریم کورٹ کے ججز کو معطل کر دیا گیا تھا جس کے بعد پی سی او کے تحت حلف نہ اٹھانے والے ججز کو اپنے گھروں میں نظر بند کر دیا گیا تھا تاہم 24مارچ کو وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی کے حکم پر تمام ججز کو رہاکر دیا گیا تھا۔

پشاور۔سرحد اسمبلی کے بلا مقابلہ منتخب ہونے والے سپیکر کرامت اللہ چغر مٹی اور ڈپٹی سپیکر خوشدل خان نے اپنے عہدوں کا حلف لے لیا نومنتخب سپیکر سے سرحد اسمبلی کے پریزائیڈنگ آفیسر ارباب ایوب جان نے حلف لیا جبکہ ڈپٹی سپیکر سے نومنتخب سپیکر کرامت اللہ چغر مٹی نے حلف لیا ۔جب سرحد اسمبلی کا اجلاس شروع ہوا تو اس موقع پر پریزائیڈنگ آفیسر ارباب ایوب جان نے اعلان کیا کہ سپیکر اکرامت اللہ چغر مٹی کا نام سپیکر کے عہدے کے لئے پی ایف ستائیس سے کامیاب ہونے والے پیپلز پارٹی کے صوبائی صدر رحیم داد خان ،پی ایف آٹھ سے کامیاب ہونے والے ملک طماش خان اور پی ایف تین سے منتخب ہونے والے نامز د سینئر وزیر بشیر احمد بلور نے تجویز کیا ہے ان کے مقابلے میں کسی اور امیدوار نے کاغذات نامزدگی جمع نہیں کرائے اس لئے وہ بلا مقابلہ منتخب ہوئے ۔پریزائیڈنگ آفیسر نے ان کی کامیابی کا اعلان کرنے کے بعد ان سے سرحد اسمبلی کے سپیکر کے عہدے کا حلف لیا ۔اسی طرح نومنتخب سپیکر کرامت اللہ چغر مٹی نے ڈپٹی سپیکر خوشدل خان کی کامیابی کا اعلان کیا اور کہا کہ ان کے کاغذات نامزدگی پر تجویز کنندہ کے نام پی ایف گیارہ سے ثاقب اللہ چمکنی،پی ایف بار ہ سے میاں افتخار حسین اور پی ایف 94سے محمود زیب نے دستخط کئے ہیں ان کے مقابلے میں کسی اور کاغذات نامزدگی جمع نہیں کرائے اس لئے انہیں بلا مقابلہ ڈپٹی سپیکر منتخب کیاگیا ۔نومنتخب سپیکر نے حلف لیتے ہوئے کہا کہ میں صدق دل سے حلف اٹھاتا ہوں کہ اور خلوص نیت سے پاکستان کا حامی اور وفادار رہونگا بحیثیت سپیکر صوبائی اسمبلی شمالی مغربی سرحدی صوبہ اپنے فرائض کارہائے منصبی ایمانداری ،انتہائی صلاحیت اور وفاداری کے ساتھ نبھاؤں گا اور اسلامی جمہوریہ پاکستان کے دستور،قانون اور اسمبلی کے قواعد کے مطابق ہمیشہ پاکستان کی خود مختاری ،سالمیت،استحکام اور خوشحالی کی خاطر فرائض انجام دونگا۔میں اسلامی نظریہ کو برقرار رکھنے کے لئے کوشاں رہونگا جو پاکستان کی بنیاد ہے یہ کہ میں پاکستان کا وفادار رہوں گا اور اپنے ذاتی مفاد کو سرکاری کام اور سرکاری فیصلوں پر اثر انداز نہیں ہونے دونگا ۔یہ کہ اسلامی جمہوریہ پاکستان کے دستور پر کاربند رہونگا اور میں ہر حالت میں ہر قسم کے لوگوں کے ساتھ بلا خوف و رغبت قانون کے مطابق انصاف کرونگا اللہ تعالیٰ میری مدد اور رہنمائی فرمائے آمین ۔بعد ازاں ڈپٹی سپیکر نے بھی یہی حلف اٹھایا ۔

روپے کے مقابلے میں امریکی ڈالراور یورپی یورو کی قدر میں اضافہ اور برطانوی پاؤنڈ کی قدر میں کمی

کراچی۔ کراچی اوپن کرنسی مارکیٹ میں ہفتہ کو روپے کے مقابلے میں امریکی ڈالراور یورپی یورو کی قدر میں اضافہ اور برطانوی پاؤنڈ کی قدر میں کمی ریکارڈ کی گئی۔فاریکس ذرائع کے مطابق روپے کے مقابلے میں امریکی ڈالر کی قدر میں 5پیسے کا اضافہ ہوا اور اسکی قیمت خرید63.20روپے سے بڑھ کر63.25روپے جبکہ قیمت فروخت63.10روپے سے بڑھ کر63.15روپے ہوگئی۔برطانوی پاؤنڈ کی قدر میں 60پیسے کی کمی ہوئی اور اسکی قیمت خرید126.50روپے سے کم ہوکر125.90جبکہ قیمت فروخت126.30روپے سے کم ہوکر125.70روپے ہوگئی۔یورپی یورو کی قدر میں 25پیسے کا اضافہ ریکارڈ کیا گیا جس کے بعد اسکی قیمت خرید اور فروخت بالترتیب بڑھ کر99.55روپے اور99.65روپے ہوگئی۔علازہ ازیں انٹر بنک مارکیٹ میں روپے کے مقابلے میں ڈالر کی قدر میں 20پیسے کی غیر معمولی کمی ریکارڈ کی گئی جس کے بعد امریکی ڈالر کی قیمت خرید اور فروخت کم ہوکر بالترتیب 62.60روپے اور62.62روپے ہوگئی۔

آباد گاروں سے گندم کی خریداری کیلئے فی ٤٠ کلوگرام نرخ ٥١٠ روپے سے بڑھا کر٦٢٥ روپے کرنے کا اصولی فیصلہ،وزیراعظم کا قومی اسمبلی کے اجلاس میں اعلان

مقامی مارکیٹ سے گندم کی خریداری کا ہدف پورا نہیں ہوسکا تو قیمتیں مستحکم رکھنے کیلئے حکومت کو گندم درآمد کروانا پڑے گی
کراچی۔ وزارت خوراک زراعت و مال مویشی (منفال)کی جانب سے وزیراعظم سید یوسف رضا گیلانی کے حکم پر آباد گاروں سے گندم کی خریداری کیلئے گندم کی امدادی قیمت فی 40کلوگرام نرخ 510روپے سے بڑھا کر625روپے کرنے کا اصولی فیصلہ کرلیا گیا ہے۔وزیراعظم پاکستان کی جانب سے اس بات کا اعلان ہفتے کو قومی اسمبلی کے اجلاس میں کیا گیا جبکہ انہوں نے اجلاس میں کسانوں کیلئے بہترین بیجوں کی فراہمی اور فصل کے بیمے کیلئے بھی پالیسی کا اعلان کیا۔امدادی قیمت میں اضافے کا فیصلہ آباد گاروں کی جانب سے وزارت منفال کے مجوزہ نرخوں پراعتراضات پر کیا گیا ہے دوسری جانب آباد گاروں کو مقامی تاجروںکی جانب سے گندم کی خریداری کیلئے پرکشش نرخ پیش کئے جارہے ہیں۔تفصیلات کے مطابق وزارت خوراک، زراعت و مال مویشی کی جانب سے آباد گاروںسے گندم کی خریداری کیلئے نرخ میں فی 40کلوگرام115روپے اضافے کا اصولی فیصلہ کرلیا گیا ہے جس کے بعد آباد گاروںسے گندم 625روپے فی 40کلوگرام پر خریدی جائے گی۔منفال وزارت کی جانب سے اوپن مارکیٹ سے کم نرٖخ دئے جانے کے باعث آباد گار مقامی تاجروں کو گندم کی فروخت کررہے تھے جبکہ وزارت کی جانب سے گندم کی خریداری کے نرخ میںاضافہ کا فیصلہ اسکی ذخیرہ اندوزی سے بچنے کیلئے عوامی مفاد میں کیا گیا ہے۔ملک میںگندم کی نئی فصل صرف سندھ میں تیار ہوئی ہے جبکہ مقامی مارکیٹ میں گندم 15سے16روپے فی کلو گرام پر فروخت کی جارہی ہے جبکہ سرکاری قیمت 12.75روپے فی کلوگرام مقرر کی گئی ہے۔اس صورتحال میں مقامی خریداروں کی جانب سے آبادگاروں کو گندم کی خریداری کیلئے پرکشش قیمتوں کی پیشکش اسکی ذخیرہ اندوزی سے ناجائز منافع حاصل کرنے کیلئے کیاجارہا ہے۔ وزارت منفال ذرائع کے مطابق مارچ میں سندھ سے محض 10ٹن گندم خریدی گئی ہے جبکہ ماہرین کی جانب سے خبردار کیا گیا ہے کہ اگر آباد گاروںکو پیش کئے جانے والے نرخوں میں نظر ثانی نہیں کی گئی تو حکومت کیلئے گندم کی خریداری کا کوٹہ حاصل کرنا مشکل ہوجائے گا اور پنجاب میں بھی گندم کی کٹائی میں خاصا وقت ہے۔ذرائع کے مطابق گندم کی خریداری کیلئے پیش کردہ نرخوں میں اضافے کیلئے حتمی سمری تیار کی جاچکی ہے جو جلد ہی کابینہ میں معاشی رابطہ کمیٹی کو بھجوائی جائے گی جبکہ گندم کی خریداری کیلئے نئی قیمتوں کا اعلان اپریل کے پہلے ہفتے میں متوقع ہے۔وزارت خوراک و زراعت کے مطابق اگر مقامی مارکیٹ سے گندم کی خریداری کا ہدف پورا نہیں ہوسکا تو قیمتیں مستحکم رکھنے کیلئے حکومت کو گندم درآمد کروانا پڑے گی۔

کراچی۔ کراچی صرافہ مارکیٹ میں سونے کی دس گرام قیمتوں میں 278روپے کی کمی ریکارڈ کی گئی۔صرافہ ذرائع کے مطابق کراچی میں دس گرام سونے کے بھاؤ19ہزار1سو57روپے ریکارڈ کئے گئے جبکہ چاندی کی دس گرام قیمت368.57روپے رہی۔علاوہ ازیں انٹرنیشنل مارکیٹ میں فی اونس سونے کی قیمت931ڈالرز رہی۔

Speaker, Deputy Speaker NWFP PA take oath, elected unopposed

PESHAWAR : Karamatullah Khan Chagarmatti and Khushdil Khan Advocate Saturday took oath as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 15th NWFP Assembly which met here with Arbab Ayub Jan in the chair. Presiding officer Arbab Ayub Jan administered oath to the newly elected Speaker. The Speaker Karamutullah Khan Chagramatti administered oath to his Deputy Khushdil Khan Advocate.
Coalition partners PPP and ANP had nominated Chagramatti and Khusdil for the slots of Speaker and Deputy Speaker. Opposition parties PPP (S), PML (Q) and JUI (F) have not fielded candidates for contesting elections against these posts.
After the oath taking ceremony and welcome addresses by the parliamentary heads of the parties and scores of legislators, the Speaker prorogued the session for indefinite period.
The Governor has also summoned the session of the assembly on Monday (March 31) for election of the Leader of the House. Ameer Haider Khan Hoti of a joint candidate of ANP, PPPP is likely to be elected unopposed as the opposition parties have decided not to field their candidate against the coalition partners.
The oath taking ceremony of the Chief Minister according to the program will be held on April 1 at Governor House.
Chagarmatti is the third speaker after Abdul Akbar Khan and late Hidayatullah Khan Chamkani elected unopposed as custodian of the house. Parliamentary Leader of ANP Bashir Ahmed Bilour was the first to congratulate Chagarmatti over assuming the office of Speaker and thanked the opposition parties for supporting the candidate of coalition partners.
Mr.Bilour said, the province was faced with tremendous problems like law and order, price hike, unemployment etc.
He said that the NWFP was rich in God gifted resources and its proper utilization could ensure resolution of all the problems.
He said, the new NWFP Government would take the opposition along in resolving the core issues. Development of hydel resources, he said would be given top priority. He expressed the confidence that the new house would live up to the expectation of the masses.
Parliamentary leader of PML (Q) Qalandar Lodhi while felicitating the new Speaker over assuming the office said, the opposition parties as a matter of goodwill gestures not fielded their candidates for the election of Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Chief Minister.
He said the coalition partners held jirgas with the opposition parties for seeking their support and we appreciate their positive attitude.
The province is facing lot of problems therefore, the opposition in order to strengthen hands of the government did not field their candidates.
The new Speaker would maintain his impartial status as custodian of the house, he added.
Parliamentary leader of PML (N) and former Chief Minister Pir Sabir Shah said speaker is the custodian of the house and works above his party affiliation.
He said that Chagarmatti would keep intact his impartial role while running the assembly business. “Today this august house has written a new history to work collectively for the uplift of the province. The opposition parties, he said deserved appreciation for ensuring unopposed election of the speaker and deputy speaker.
Parliamentary leader of PPP Rahimdad Khan said the unopposed election of the Speaker has in-fact increased responsibilities of the new custodian of the house and he has to work in non-partisan manner.
Former Chief Minister and Parliamentary leader of JUI (F) Akram Khan Durrani claimed that during the last five years he tried to keep alive the golden traditions of this province and gave due status to the members of this house as leader of the house. He expressed the hope that new government would keep the opposition members close to their hearts and will not behave in a manner that create a sense of deprivation among them.
The opposition parties, he said, would not resort to opposition for the sake of opposition and instead play a constructive role in achieving the provincial rights from the center. The politics of confrontation has ruined the very fabric of the society, he said, adding we have to bury all this hatchet once for all.
The JUI (F), he said will be part of the coalition government in the center and will support the coalition government in the NWFP and has set certain priorities for extending help and assistance to the new government.
Provincial autonomy, payment of arrears of net hydel profit to the NWFP, ensuring freedom of judiciary, media, formation of independent election commission and promotion of democratic culture were the key priorities of JUI (F).
He said that his party would support the new coalition government over renaming of the province.

Pakistan prioritizes relationship with US in all fields: PM

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said Pakistan attaches high priority to its strategic relationship with United States and is keen to expand ties in all fields.Talking to a delegation of US Congressmen comprising John Tiemey, Keith Ellison, Jim Moran, Betty McCollum, Maurice Hinchey and Barbara Cubin in his Parliament House chamber, the Prime Minister said the people of Pakistan had given a clear mandate in favour of democratic forces which was clearly visible in the parliament.
Reiterating his government’s firm resolve to address the issue of terrorism, the Prime Minister said the country sacrificed a lot in this regard including the assassination of its leader Benazir Bhutto.
The Prime Minister said the world community needs to look into the rootcauses of terrorism which stemmed from deprivation and injustice.
He said political dialogue and provision of economic opportunities was the key to confront the issue effectively.
The Prime Minister welcomed the tabling of bill in the US Senate regarding establishment of Reconstruction Opportunities Zones (ROZs) in the border areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He said the economic empowerment of people was the key to address the issue of extremism, adding such zones would help increase economic activities in the areas, create new jobs and improve people’s standard of living.
About Afghanistan, the Prime Minister said Pakistan desired for it’s neighbour to grow and prosper because a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan was in its best interest.
The delegation congratulated the Prime Minister on assuming his new responsibilities and assured support of the US congress to the new government.
The delegates expressed the confidence that democracy in Pakistan would lead the country towards progress and prosperity.
Appreciating Pakistan’s efforts against extremism and terrorism, the delegation expressed the desire for developing a stable and multi-faceted relationship with Pakistan.

China Pakistan’s strategic, time tested friend: PM

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday expressed the confidence that formation of democratic governments at the federal and provincial levels will help establish the desired conducive environment in Pakistan to attract more Chinese investment in Pakistan.He was talking to a three-member Chinese delegation led by Liu Hongcai, Vice Minister of the International Department of Chinese Communist Party, which met him here in his chamber at the Parliament House this afternoon.
The Prime Minister said that “China is our strategic partner and all weather, time tested friend.” Pakistan, he said, enjoys a strategic relationship with China based on mutual trust, cooperation and understanding of each other’s positions on regional and global issues.
He further said that Pakistan accords high priority to its close relationship with China and is keen to expand it in all spheres of life.
The Prime Minister said that exchange of parliamentary delegations and the parliamentary groups of friendship in the two countries can perform a very useful role in further strengthening the relations between the two friendly countries.
The Parliamentary Committees, he added could also help in exploring the possibilities to enhance cooperation in specific areas with friendly countries like China.
The Prime Minister conveyed his regards and good wishes to the President, the Prime Minister of China and the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
The leader of the Chinese delegation congratulated the Prime Minister on behalf of the Prime Minister of China on assuming the responsibilities as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
He said that the unanimous vote of confidence gained by the Prime Minister in the National Assembly is a sign of trust of the entire house on his leadership.
Liu Hongcai further said that Pakistan is a reliable and good neighbour and China considers it as a strategic partner.
The close relations with Pakistan, he said, is the corner stone of Chinese foreign policy.
He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani the relations between the two countries will further expand in all the fields.
The Chinese Vice Minister further said that the friendship between China and Pakistan is a result of the efforts of our leaders and the people spreading over last many decades.
“It is now heartening to note that our relations have gained strength at the government, parliamentary and above all at the people level”, he added.
The leader of the Chinese delegation further said that, he had met the leaders of all the political parties in Pakistan and was pleased to learn that all are favourably inclined to further developing relations with China.
The political parties, he added also want to promote relations with the Communist Party of China which is a healthy sign and exchange of delegations of political parties will further help bring the two countries close to each other.

Musharraf calls for promoting tolerance in society

SHEIKHUPURA : President Pervez Musharraf has stressed the need for promoting tolerance in the society, which is the essence of Islamic teachings. He was addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of Education City campus of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, here on Saturday.
The President said there is unrest in the society, which has unfortunately now turned out to be religion based, citing that Muslims had once been stronger and ruled the world by all respects because they were united. “Today, we need to get united which is our strength,” he added.
The President advised the students to refrain from politics and must focus on their studies to excel in their relevant fields. “You must not get in politics as there are many things which are not true but presented as to be true and you cannot understand many realities,” he added.
He emphasized upon them to focus on their wholesome development by grooming themselves morally, intellectually, physically and socially.
President Musharraf observed that students are the future of the country and efforts are under way to strengthen this vital force through promotion of education.
There is turmoil in the country as the national interests are in clash with personal interests. It needs to be corrected. We are facing this situation over the last one year, he maintained.

Gilani vows change in law on freedom to information; says Pemra to go under Information Ministry

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Saturday said his government believed in freedom of press and said the “black laws” of Nov 3 would be revoked. Addressing the parliament soon after a unanimous vote of confidence, Gilani said a law on freedom of information would be enacted so as to help check corruption from the society.
He said the proposals to be submitted by the Parliamentary Committee on the laws relating to freedom of information will be followed.
The Prime Minister terming the present laws as defective said these need to be changed and said a framework on the law on freedom of information has already been prepared and would be enacted by the new government.
Gilani said the journalists covering events in the conflict zones will be provided security equipment. He said journalists and workers of the newspaper industry would be protected and efforts would be made for a wageboard award.
He said the working conditions and laws regulating the media industry would also be improved.
“We will bring changes in the Pemra Ordinance and place it under the Ministry of Information instead of its current status as an authority.”
He hoped that it would improve the working environment of electronic media in the country.

Gilani spells out priorities for his government

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday spelt out the priorities of his government by announcing measures to combat terrorism, price hike, unemployment and poverty, setting up of new power plants and fixing minimum wage of Rs 6000 for the labourers. Speaking in the National Assembly after taking vote of confidence, he said maintaining law and order in the country would be the top priority of his government for which terrorism needs to be rooted out.
“We are ready to talk to all those who are ready to lay down their arms and wanted peace,” he said.
He said he would announce a special package for tribal areas to give them employment and to remove their backwardness and other social evils.
The Prime Minister also announced to revoke FCR.
He welcomed the announcement of the Chief of the Army Staff that all army personnel from the civil departments will be called back.
“This announcement by the COAS will enhance the dignity, respect and honour of the army.”
He expressed the hope that all the army personnel from civilian departments will be called back within two weeks.
The Prime Minister said his government will take steps for the restoration of deposed judges. As a first step, these judges have already been freed from detention.
Referring to power, flour and water crises in the country, Prime Minister Gilani said these problems were not easy to tackle. He said there was a possibility of more load shedding in the country during the summer season.
He said to overcome the electricity shortage in the country, which at present stands at 3000 megawatt, new power units will be set up and PEPCO has been asked to issue 10 million energy saver bulbs at discounted prices.
The shortage next year, he added, is expected to reach 4000 MW.
He said in the first phase of Thar Coal Project the electricity generation will be 5,000 mw which will increase to 20,000 mw in the next phase.
He said Wapda has been asked to complete the feasibility of large dams and investment in the project of Keti Bandar will be invited again and lighting on government buildings has been stopped.
To save the wastage of water, he added, canals will be brick lined and small dams constructed to ensure supply of water for irrigation and drinking purposes.
He said the budget of the Prime Minister House will be cut by 40 percent and hoped that other departments too will follow the example.
The cabinet members will not use a vehicle of more than 1600 cc and they will only be allowed Economy Plus class during air travel.
He said like many other democratic countries, during the Question Hour the Prime Minister would also be present in the house to answer questions.
To provide employment to the fresh graduates, Prime Minister announced the setting up of Literacy and Health Commission. It will also ensure employment to one person in a household.
He said a Madrassa Welfare Authority will be set up to carry out the audit of the accounts of all madrassas in the country. The authority will be responsible to ensure that curricula of all madrassas are uniform.
The Prime Minister said that every year one million housing units will be constructed in the country. He also announced the launch of 5-marla housing scheme in rural areas for the poor besides provision of houses on 80 square meters and flats in the cities for the general public.
He said all retiring government servants will be given flats or houses and the provinces have also been directed to launch similar schemes for the retired persons.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said to make country self-sufficient in the production of edible oil, for which the government spends one billion dollars annually on its import, cultivation of sunflower will be encouraged.
He announced enhancement of wheat support price from Rs 510 to Rs 625 and crop insurance for farmers who owned agricultural land.
To keep the environment clean, he said the government will encourage CNG-run buses.
The Prime Minister said National Accountability Bureau (NAB), which in the past carried out selected accountability and was directly under the executive, will now be placed under judiciary.
To discourage VIP culture in the country, he said special counters at the airport will be abolished.
Vowing to carry forward the mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, he said her programme of Lady Health Workers will be further expanded in rural areas.
He said the public will be issued national identity cards free of cost.
Speaking about the provincial autonomy, he said concurrent list will be abolished and the provinces given their rights.
“This is in line with our constitution which calls for ensuring rights of all federating units,” Prime Minister Gilani noted.
He also gave assurance that injustices committed against the people of Balochistan and other provinces will be redressed.
For this purpose, he said Truth and Reconciliation Commission will be set up which will look into these excesses.
He spelt out the foreign policy of the government and said Pakistan wants close and cordial relations with the US, Europe and neighbouring countries.
He stressed the need for resolution of Kashmir issue through dialogue and said the sacrifices of the Kashmiris will not go waste. He said the issue will be resolved under the UN resolutions and Kashmiris aspirations.
Friendship with China, which he said was deeper than oceans and taller than Himalayas, will be further strengthened. He said Pakistan also wants to see peace returns to Afghanistan.
He said laws against freedom of the press will be revoked and efforts will be made to give wage award to journalists and newspapers workers.
He said the law of freedom of information was faulty which will be changed in a positive way.
The law governing Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) will be changed and it will be made an attached department of the information ministry.
He announced the revival of trade unions and student unions.
He said a review commission will be formed for release of political prisoners.
He said those who laid down their lives for the sake of democracy will be properly compensated and their children will be given scholarships and provided facilities for health and education.
Prime Minister Gilani said those government servants who became disabled while in service will be given full pension benefits and the condition of 10 years service will also be waived.
The Prime Minister paid tributes to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and said her sacrifice has “lit the candle of democracy.”
He thanked Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Zardari for nominating him as the prime minister.
He said he prayed to Allah Almighty to give him strength to fulfill his responsibilities and commitments.
Prime Minister Gilani said he will also take along the parties in APDM.
