Presidential Spokesman contradicts reports of replacing COAS
ISLAMABAD : A Presidential Spokesman on Sunday termed as totally fabricated and baseless reports appearing in a section of the press speculating that there was any move afoot to replace the Chief of Army Staff. The Spokesman termed the reports as malicious and designed to vitiate the excellent relations between the Presidency and the Pakistan Armed Forces.
He stated that selection of the Chief of Army Staff was made on merit. The Spokesman said that President Pervez Musharraf firmly believes that the three-year tenure of the office of the Chief of Army Staff should never be violated.
The Spokesman regretted that such baseless rumours were being spread by vested interests.
