ISLAMABAD: All Parties Hurriyet Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooque has called for structured dialogue between Pakistan and India over Kashmir with a timeframe.
Addressing a news conference here the Kashmiri leader said the institutionalized dialogue over Kashmir with a proper timeframe can help in progress towards seeking solution of the problem.
He called for three to four meetings in a year between the two sides on Kashmir with assessment of progress over the issue.
“We feel that we could not rapidly move forward without institutionalization of the dialogue,” he said.
Mirwaiz also suggested that the leadership of the both parts of Kashmir should also be provided opportunity to meet and discuss the issue. He proposed convening a conference of the Kashmiri leaders.
He said without involvement of Kashmiris no progress can be achieved towards resolution of the problem.
He also called for regular consultation over the issue.
“We want to break status quo while India wants to maintain it with the proposal to recognize the Line of Control as permanent border,” he added.
