Information Minister visits JPMC, underlines govt commitment to improving health infrastructure
KARACHI : The PPP government has always paid utmost attention to the social sector, health and education, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ms. Sherry Rehman said Saturday. She was talking to reporters during a visit to the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) here.
The Minister, who is also holding the additional portfolio of Health, said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto personally paid attention towards the social sector.
She assured that the government would do whatever possible for the health sector in the country as well as for the JPMC, which she said was the JPMC was the biggest federal hospital in the country providing public service.
The Minister said she had come to JMPC, the nerve centre of public health services in the provincial metropolis, to examine the hospital’s problems and issues.
She said that the public health service would be improved and facilities at the JPMC would also be augmented.
Ms. Sherry Rehman pointed out that the public health sector had remained neglected and the present government would help improve the health infrastructure and services.
She said that the basic health care is a national fundamental right and that “we firmly believe in it.”
The Minister praised the administration and the staff of the JPMC for the services they were providing to the public.
The Executive Director of JPMC, Prof. Rashid Jooma, briefed the Minister. The Deputy Executive Director of JPMC, Dr. Seemie Jamali, was also present on the occasion.
