Government to expose hidden hands behind Karachi violence: Sherry Rehman

ISLAMABAD : Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman Thursday said that the government will hold a thorough probe into the recent incidents of violence in Karachi. Talking to media, she said those involved in such activities do not want reconciliation process to continue but added that such elements would fail to achieve their nefarious designs, a private channel reported.
The Minister said that the people who were involved in these incidents would be arrested and brought to justice so that no one could take the law into own hands. She said hidden hands behind the plot would be uncovered.
The Minister said that efforts with the help of other political parties are being made to restore peace in Karachi.
She said that subversive elements would not be allowed to disturb the peace.
“No issue could be resolved by using force, torture and applying unethical methods,” the Minister said, adding the country is in dire need of peace and harmony at a time when the elected governments at the center and the provinces are in the process of functioning.
She said, “We have to learn to live in peace and harmony; we have to display tolerance, we have to maintain a balance”.
The PPP believes in the rule of law and is deeply concerned over recent acts of rowdyism which took place in Karachi and Lahore.
“The two incidents appear to have been engineered by elements who want to bring a bad name to the new democratic governments even before their installation in the provinces,” she said.
