Suicide bomber kills three, 5 injured in Bannu




PESHAWAR: Three persons including a police constable were killed and another five injured when a suicide bomber detonated himself at check-post in Kot Beli here Tuesday morning.
Police said the bomber believed to be riding an Auto Rickshaw exploded himself near Kot Barara closed to Bannu Cantonment Check Post, killing constable Naeem Khan on the spot while critically injured Rehan son of Mirzali and Rapyar son of Hussain later succumbed to wounds in hospital.
The injured have been identified as Shadman, ASI Waheed Iqbal, Arshad, Safdar and Sikandar and were shifted to CMH and district headquarters hospitals. The condition of the injured was stated to be stable.
The explosion was so powerful that its bang was heard in five-kilometer radius. Police rushed to site and recovered flesh of the victims including of the bomber believed to be a teenager.
It merits a mention here that Governor NWFP Owais Ahmed Ghani had to arrive Bannu Cantonment from Miran Shah North Waziristan after one hour of the blast.
Meanwhile, NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani enquired after the health of the injured police escort who became victim of the suicide bomb blast at District Headquarter Hospital Bannu.
The Governor went to each and every injured including Waheed Iqbal ASI as well as constables Aurangzeb, Irshad Khan and Safdar and apprised himself about the treatment facilities being provided to them.
The Governor, who was accompanied by Regional Coordination Officer Attaullah Khan and DIG Police Masood Afridi wished early recovery of the injured. He also appreciated the courage and spirit of the injured police officials.
The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr. Shahab-ud-Din informed the Governor that all the injured are in stable condition and being fully taken care off.
Meanwhile Chief Minister of NWFP Amir Haider Khan Hoti has condemned suicide attack in Bannu and issued directives for proper medical facilities to the people sustained injuries in the attack.
He said prayed Allah Almighty to may rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to members of bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with patience.
