LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Dost Muhammad Khosa has said the government would take effective measures to ensure provision of quality essential commodities at reasonable prices. He said ‘thana’ culture would be improved with a view to resolving public complaints regarding police and stern action would be taken against negligent police officers.
The Chief Minister stated this during his surprise visits to Sunday Bazaar in Gulshan-e-Ravi and Shadman areas, and Shera Kot Police Station here on Sunday. He visited these areas without any police escort and protocol formalities and stopped at traffic signals like common citizen.
Later, Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed and MPA Hafiz Mian Nauman also accompanied the CM.
At the Sunday Bazaar, Khosa checked rate lists and inquired about the quality and prices of food items from the customers there.
“We are trying our best to redress people’s grievances despite the fact that present government has inherited huge crises from the previous regime,” he added.
Khosa termed it encouraging that supply of daily use items has been improved following government’s efforts and now wheat flour is available on fixed prices in Sunday Bazaars.
On this occasion, people expressed their satisfaction over the proper supply of wheat flour and other commodities.
The Chief Minister directed the administration to reorganize the Sunday Bazaars committees to ensure cleanliness and quality food items in their respective bazaars.
Taking strict notice of maintenance of sewerage system in Shadman, he ordered the concerned quarters to take necessary measures to avoid public inconvenience due to scattered pipes of sewerage on the roads and issued directions for the removal the sewerage pipes.
At Shera Kot PS, the Chief Minister directed the DSP to take remedial steps for redressal of common man’s grievances, whereas, staff posted at police nakas on roads should behave with people nicely instead of creating hurdles.
Khosa also interacted with persons kept in the lockup and was briefed by police officials about crime rate in Shera Kot and FIRs registration.
