No military action in province against Balochistan govt’s strategy: PM
QUETTA : Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday said no military action was being carried out in Balochistan at present, adding the policy would continue till the newly formed provincial government formulates a strategy in this regard.“It has been decided that no army action would be taken in the province, unless a strategy is formulated in consultation with the representatives of provincial government,” the Prime Minister said in his address at the cabinet meeting of Balochistan government here.The Prime Minister said a proper strategy would be made to deal with the issue of law and order in the province.
Gilani said he was briefed by the army on law and order situation in various areas of the country, however he postponed the briefing on Balochistan till the formation of government in the province.
The Prime Minister said he wanted the representatives of Balochistan government to be present during the briefing so that decision could be taken through proper consultation.
He asked the cabinet members to play role in improving law and order situation in the province.
“You can manage yourself to keep law and order in place because you represent your parties and also the local tribes,” he added.
Gilani urged the new provincial government to improve civil structure by making the cabinet effective, arranging open hearings for common people and touring local areas to address their grievances.
