Government striving to overcome energy crisis
ISLAMABAD : The country is facing an acute shortage of power generation adversely affecting economic activities and causing massive loadshedding to multiply miseries of the general public. Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has categorically stated that the government was committed to resolve the problem and taking every possible measure to minimize the power shortage. It has devised an energy management plan to save unnecessary use of power supply by closing commercial centers and markets at 9 pm.
However, President of Aabpara trade union Ajmal Baloch said the government should have taken traders into confidence prior to announcement of energy saving plan.
Talking To APP here on Tuesday he said, due to summer season most of the customers come to markets for shopping at night, if the traders shut their shops at 9:00 pm, it would create very bad impact on their business.
He said people do not come to markets on official holidays and government decision to close markets on Friday instead of Sunday would also harm the business activities in this way.
He said Islamabad is an international city and foreigners desired to purchase at late night and this aspect should also be considered which could prove harmful for the business activities.
He said government should accommodate the view point of the traders and resolve the issue amicably.
He was of the view that the government should declare Friday as an official holiday.
