ISLAMABAD:Spokesman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Farhatullah Babar Saturday said that there was no deadlock in talks between PPP and PML-N over the issue of judiciary.
“Absolutely there is no deadlock and the matter is moving towards the solution,” the spokesman told a private television (Express News).
He said draft of the resolution to restore deposed judges has been agreed with consensus and now the modalities are being worked out about its implementation.
“We want its implementation in line with the constitution and law to avoid any destability,” he said expressing the hope that talks with PML-N would succeed and deposed judges would restore.
Farhatullah Babar said both the parties would hopefully settle the modalities about constitutional and legal implementation of the resolution with harmony.
About the set procedure, he said the resolution after passage from the National Assembly would be sent to the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Division, which would forward it to the Prime Minister for issuing order for reinstatement of deposed judges.
Elaborating, he said under the Judges Act-1997 the strength of the Supreme Court judges is 17, but after the reinstatement of deposed judges it would reach 27, which would need amendment in the act to accommodate 27 judges.
He said to get passed this amendment from the National Assembly and the Senate, simple majority would be needed. After the passage, the bill would be sent to the Aiwan-e-Sadr for approval.
