June 10 last date to submit applications for issuance of postal ballots
ISLAMABAD : Election Commission of Pakistan has fixed June 10 as last date to submit applications by the voters for issuance of postal ballot papers for bye-elections to the National Assembly and the Provincial Assemblies. This facility is extended only to the persons in the government service, members of armed forces, holders of public offices, their wives and such of their children as are registered voters and ordinarily reside with them and stationed at a place other than their home constituency.
Persons detained in prison or held in other legal custody are also entitled to vote by postal ballot.
The polling personnel and official of law enforcing agencies who have been assigned duties at the polling stations can send their applications for postal ballot latest by June 15.
Therefore, all such entitled persons, who are interested in casting votes through postal ballot must apply to the concerned Returning Officers of their home town constituencies. However, if these forms fall short, their photocopies can also be used for the purpose.
Necessary instructions in this regard have already been issued to the Returning Officers concerned for the fresh elections/bye-elections in Eight National Assembly and 30 Provincial Assembly constituencies across the country.
