PM briefed on PAF’s activities







ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Saturday was given detailed briefing on the ongoing development programmes of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and its preparedness to protect the country’s aerial frontiers, at Air Headquarters here. Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Operation), Air Marshal, Rao Qamar Suleman gave a comprehensive briefing to the Prime Minister, which was also attended by Defence Minister Ahmad Mukhtar, Defence Secretary and other officials. The Prime Minister also held a meeting with Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mehmood Ahmed and discussed matters of professional interest.
Gilani reiterated the government’s resolve to continue strengthen the country’s air defence by providing all necessary resources to PAF and enable it modernize itself and stay in a state of readiness.
He said the government was focusing on improving PAF’s indigenous capabilities by exploring the possibilities of entering into joint ventures with friendly countries.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan Air Force always proved its mettle in defending the aerial frontiers of the country. He appreciated the PAF personnel for keeping high standards of professionalism and capabilities in performing their duties.
The Air Chief presented the Prime Minister a painting of JF-17 aircraft.
Earlier on his arrival at Air Headquarters, the Prime Minister was presented guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of PAF and was introduced to the Principal Staff Officers.
