Govt committed to redressing the grievances of the people of Balochistan: PM

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday said the government was committed to redressing the grievances of the people of Balochistan and reiterated that steps were being taken to improve the situation. Talking Governor Balochistan Zulfiqar Ali Magsi and Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raeesani at the PM House, the Prime Minister said a new strategy was being formulated in consultation with representatives of the provincial government for dealing with the issue of law and order in the province.He said the political forces in the province have to play a role in this regard as it would improve the security and protection of the citizens.
The Governor and Chief Minister Balochistan also briefed the Prime Minister about the supply situation of wheat and flour in Balochistan.
The government’s decision of providing 100,000 tons of additional wheat to the province for meeting its requirements was also appreciated by the entire population of the province.
The Prime Minister said the government was keeping a close watch on the wheat situation all over the country and would provide more wheat to Balochistan, if required.
He directed the provincial government in coordination with law enforcement agencies to take steps for stopping smuggling of wheat across the border.
