Improvement of national economy, law and order top priority: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday said that improving national economy and law and order across the country was the top priority of the government. Briefly talking to media at the Lahore Airport after his arrival from Islamabad, he said that the issue of reinstatement of judges would be solved. “Let us see the outcome of the meeting being held between top leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in London”.The Prime Minister’s son Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani was also present on the occasion.
Responding to a question, the Prime Minister said that 100-day plan announced by him was being implemented and all issues confronting the nation would be addressed according to the commitment.
He said that all-out efforts were being made to solve the acute power shortage problem, check the high inflation, control the hike in prices of daily edibles and strengthen the national economy on top priority.
In response to question about the energy crisis, he said it would take some time to overcome it.
He said the government firmly believed in freedom of press and “we will ensure it.”
About the convening of the National Assembly session on May 12, he said it would be convened when the party command desired so.
Earlier, he was received by Punjab Governor Lt.Gen (retd) Khalid Maqbool, Minister for Irrigation Raja Raiz Ahmad, Minister Sana Ullah, MNA Samina Ghurki, Chief Secretary Punjab Javed Mahmood,IG Police Shaukat Javed,CCPO DIG Muhammad Pervaiz Rathore, Aziz Ur Rehman Chan and Munir Ahmad Khan.
