Nine killed 17 injured as trawler overturns in Pabbi




PESHAWAR : An over-speeding container trawler turned turtle on main G.T. Road in Pabbi bazaar and rammed into the footpath killing nine persons and injuring seventeen others.
A Suzuki car was also crushed in the tragic episode. According to police sources, nine persons have been killed who were standing on the footpath.
The driver of the Peshawar bound trawler lost control over the steering after its tie rod broken in the congested bazaar.
Several people were trapped under the trawler. Police and rescue teams carried out rescue operations at the site.
The injured have been shifted Pabbi Hospital and Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar and admitted where condition of many injured was stated to be stable.
The names of seven dead identified are Mirajuddin Khan son of Sherian, Ali Shah son of Zahir Shah residents of Amankot, Muhammad Habib resident of Zakhel, Hameedullah Khan son of Atiqullah resident of Khan Sher Garhi, girl Neemra daughter of Noor Muhammad resident of Jehangira, Amaan Khan son of Abdus Sattar Khan resident of Kandi Tazadin and Fazal Amin son of Sattar Muhammad resident of Chowki Mumraz.
The injured identified are Khalid son of Sirajuddin resident of Aman Kot, Rais Khan son of Mukaram Khan resident of Pabbi, Asma daughter of Javed resident of Dagai Jadeed, Amin son of Alam Gul resident of Pabbi, Asiya wife of Javed resident of Dagai Qadeem, Zahida wife of Kaleemullah resident of Aman Garh, Pervez resident of Swat, Noor Qadar resident of Swat, Wajahat resident of Aman Kot, Nawaz son of Gul Rehman, Bahar Ali, Fazal Muhammad, Ayaz and Fazal Mehmmod.
Meanwhile the NWFP Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti expressed his deep shock and grief over the loss of precious lives in the road accident In a statement issued here, the Chief Minister directed the hospital’s administration to give special care and attention to the treatment of wounded.
The Chief Minister while expressing his sympathies with the members of bereaved families has prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to them to bear this irreparable loss with patience and fortitude. The Chief Minister also prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
