Advani regrets release of controversial book on Benazir Bhutto

NEW DELHI: BJP leader L K Advani has regretted over release of controversial book on Shaheed Benazir Bhutto authored by London-based journalist Shyam Bhatia saying its contents are disturbing for any one who knew the former Prime Minister of Pakistan.
BJP Spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy while quoting L K Advani said “I regret having attended the function. Had I read the contents of the book, I would not have gone for the book launch. “
The BJP leader conveyed these views to PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar when the latter called him to register objections for releasing the book “Goodbye Shehzadi” last month.
Advani said the late Benazir Bhutto was a good friend of his and that “the contents of the book are disturbing for anyone who knew her”, Rudy said.
Advani attended the function when he was strongly pursued and he stayed there for only a few minutes, the Spokesman said adding “the few words he spoke during the launch were based on the glimpses of the book which he was told.”
Things have been put in better perspective after Advani talked to Babar, the BJP spokesman said.
Reacting to this controversial book, PPP had said legal action against Bhatia will be taken for levelling scurrilous allegations against Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. The PPP has also expressed surprise at Advani’s decision to launch the book.
