Committee to resolve problems of media: Sherry

ISLAMABAD : Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman Friday said a press committee would be set-up to resolve problems of journalists especially electronic media.
She told media persons outside the Parliament House that the government committee will include journalist representatives, parliamentarians and other stakeholders and it would have mandate to finalize the recommendations for the resolution of problems being faced by the journalists.
“We have already tabled a bill in the National Assembly to amend the PEMRA Ordinance. The bill would be handed over to a committee and the proposals of the media persons would be given due consideration,” Sherry added.
Meanwhile, the minister said, a meeting of Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) and Cable Operators Association is also on cards next week to resolve the issues pertaining to the live transmissions and blockage of channels.
