ABU DHABI - The Special Care Centre in Abu Dhabi is launching a fund collection campaign for the construction of a state-of-the-art school that would accommodate over 300 students with special needs.
The 'Donate a Brick' campaign will be officially launched on May 28 at the Emirates Palace.
The SCC on Saturday hosted its annual function 'Rhythms 2008' at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation here.
A large number of nationals and expatriates attended the event in which special need students staged a variety of song-and-dance performances.
Jeremy Parrish, chief executive of Standard Chartered Bank, who was the guest of honour and sponsored the event, expressed his delight over contributing for a good cause and the upbringing of the special needs children.
According to SCC Board Member Isabelle Le Bon, 'Donate a Brick' campaign is aimed at raising Dh25 million by December 3, 2008, which is World Disability Day.
'We are blessed to have the support of Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who will match the total amount collected by the centre,' Bon stated.
