Pakistan to enhance its media interaction with China , developing countries




BEIJING : Pakistan , China and 29 other countries from Asian and African regions pledged to enhance their media interaction to counter negative and biased reporting by a section of Western press.At a 15-day seminar on Media development held here, the participants agreed to maintain close liaison with each other through regular interaction to help formulate a common strategy for projecting political, socio-economic situation in their respective countries in its true prospective.
The seminar was sponsored by the Chinese Commerce Ministry and organized by the Communication University of China. The participants vowed to strengthen their communication network, exchanging of news reports of common interest through print and electronic media.
It was also agreed that the participating countries would uphold the slogan of ‘One world, one dream and one network achieving the common aspirations of their people’.
The Director News, Associated Press of Pakistan Javed Akhtar who represented Pakistan assured the delegates that his country would fully stand by them in promoting peace and development in the region through news exchanges under bilateral agreements.
The seminar was as an annual event meant to develop and promote communication network among the developing countries. It discussed wide-ranging topics like introduction to the international communication, media development in China and International Media Study.
Prominent professors and well-known scholars delivered lectures with the help of slides, followed by question and answer session.
During the course of seminar, talks by some speakers were also focused on the happening of violence incident took place in Lhasa , the capital of Tibet region on March 14, in the background of the forthcoming Beijing Olympics.
The speakers termed some Western media’s reports as totally fabricated saying that they presented an event which never happened in China.
The reports carried distorted facts having no truth whatsoever, in fact some media circles having vested interest instigating the world to make an attempt to boycott the Beijing Olympic.
The speakers were of the view that China was not against the western media, but against the lies and fabrications tendency and the media’s prejudices in their reporting.
They called for concerted and coordinated efforts on the part of the developing countries to safeguard their interest and promote their good image world- wide, through a strong communication network. One of the speakers called for projecting a slogan “One World, One Dream and One Network”.
The concluding session of the seminar was addressed by Vice President
of the Communication University Prof. Ding Junjie, who reiterated China’s commitment to help the developing countries in all fields of mutual interest. He also underlined the need of regular media interaction among the participating countries, upholding their common cause and to achieve the ultimate objective of global peace and development.
