Terrorism hurdle in investment, prosperity: Gilani




MULTAN : Terrorism is a hurdle in the way to foreign investment, progress and prosperity, said Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here Sunday.Talking at the residence of MPA Ahmed Hassan Daher the Prime Minister said the nation is facing challenges like, law and order, terrorism, sectarianism and economic wellbeing.
He said the country can not progress unless its law and order improves and terrorism comes to an end. He said foreign investors want a peaceful milieu for their investment.
The Prime Minister said the menace of terrorism is smearing the image of the Muslims all over the world and it has to be extirpated.
He said the Muslim saints spread Islam with the help of rosary and affection and not with sword as it is commonly misconceived.
He said we have to defend our borders not only for defence but to stop smuggling and cross-border intrusions as well.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani called upon the need to establish peace in the society so that economic activities could be geared up for the betterment of the common man.
He said coalition partners including PML-N, ANP, MMA, MQM, Fata and other independent members are working with harmony and would steer the country out of the big challenges like independence of judiciary, media, revival of the 1973 Constitution and end to price hike and unemployment.
The Prime Minister said the government would enforce the manifesto of PPP by providing bread, clothing and shelter to all citizens.
Prime Minister’s brother Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani and Ahmed Hassan Daher also spoke on the occasion.
