Pakistan's ruling party leader to get official protocol

ASSOCIATED PRESS SERVICE

ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistani government has decided to give official protocol to Pakistan People's Party (PPP)Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari like the country's president and prime minister.
The local news agency Sunday quoted sources as saying that the prime minister secretariat has directed the interior ministry to give official protocol to Zardari and tighten his security like the president and the prime minister.
Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik issued the order to the interior ministry for providing full protocol to the leader of the ruling PPP.
Zardari has three personal bullet-proof Land Cruisers equipped with jammers besides police security and personal guards.
Meanwhile, the interior ministry has asked the federal ministers and other important political figures to remove the wireless sets from their vehicles.
The ministry is of the view that these wireless sets disclose their security planning and the police squad will be provided to the federal ministers.
