Pakistan to host another “Aman” series naval exercise March next year,Admiral Tahi




BEIJING: - Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir has said that Pakistan will host another naval exercise of “Aman”. Talking to media here Saturday he expressed the hope that PLA Navy will again participate in the exercise along with the navies of other countries in Pakistani waters that would help enhance understanding and stability in maritime domain in the world. (Peace) series in March next year.
The Naval Chief will meet Chinese Defence Minister General Liang Guanglie, Commander of PLA Navy Admiral Wu Shengli and other senior officials. He will be the Chief Guest at the launching of first F-22P Frigate - PNS Zulfiqar at Hudong Shipyard in Shanghai on April 7.
Under an agreement signed in 2005, China will build four these series
of ships, three in Hudong Shipyard, while the fourth one at the Karachi Shipyard with the support of transfer of technology.
“This is the first time Pakistan Navy has ordered large fighting units from China and it demonstrate our trust in Chinese technology,” said the Naval Chief.
“We are very thankful to PLA Navy which is providing whole hearted support for this project and also to ensure that these ships are constructed in accordance with the Naval standard and our requirements”, he noted.
Tracing the history of cooperation between the navies of the twocountries, Admiral Afzal Tahir pointed out that the first-ever bilateral exercise in which PLA navy took part was with Pakistan Navy.
Similarly, he further pointed out that the first-ever multi-national exercise that PLA navy participated was held in Pakistan last year.
“We were very happy to see the PLA Navy ships were operating with the other navies of the world in Pakistani waters”, the Naval Chief said while referring to their participation in multi-national exercises conducted last year in Pakistan.
He said that the performance of PLA Navy in these exercises was excellent and exemplary.
