Salman’s sweet revenge

RAKHI SAWANT got a dose of her own medicine while performing at the Sunsilk Apsara: The Producers and Directors Guild Awards function, when Salman Khan blatantly made it clear to Rakhi that he hadn’t forgiven her, nor had he forgotten her behaviour at last year’s Nach Baliye 3 grand finale.
She had to perform her song without music because of the 10 pm deadline and only because Salman delayed her performance to teach her a lesson.
Flashback 2007
At Nach Baliye 3 Finale, where Salman Khan was the chief guest, Rakhi Sawant lost the finals and got really upset. She zoomed off the stage with her on -off beau Abhishek in a fit of anger. Salman followed her, tried to stop her and appease her. But instead of acknowledging his kind gesture, the drama queen snubbed him and drove off in her car.
The actual take
Salman was taken aback and probably decided to teach the item girl a lesson one day. An opportunity fell into his lap when Salman was to perform for the Sunsilk Apsara : The Producers’ Guild Award 2008 which was pre-recorded for TV. After he shot for it, he wasn’t very pleased with his performance and wanted the organisers (Wizcraft) to re-record the show. He took his own sweet time over it. By the time Salman finished shooting his portion it was almost 10 pm which is the deadline for any live show in public places. The next performance was to be Rakhi’s on her latest Krazzy 4 item number Tuk Tuk Dekhe. Knowing full well that the time was up for loud live music, he eagerly looked forward to see what Rakhi would do. When she was about to record her portion the cops barged in and stopped the event as they had crossed the deadline. The organisers then decided to record the performance without any music.
Rakhi was devastated, as she had to go ahead with her dance without any music. She found it difficult to perform with just a tape recorder for support. Amidst all the chaos, the dancers too got confused, as the music was barely audible. Rakhi admits that she almost thought of packing up and leaving but could not give up this golden opportunity. In true Rakhi spirit she went ahead sang and performed. Thanks to her rehearsals she recollected the entire lyrics. “Gaana mera dil aur dimaag mein basaa hua hai (this song is seeped into my heart and mind). “I rehearsed for the song during the shooting and somehow managed. I was very upset and walked off after my performance without giving any TV bytes. How can I perform without music? But then, I am Rakhi Sawant!” she said proudly.
On asking if Salman’s re-recording of his performance delayed her performance, she diplomatically replied, “I don’t want to comment anything though I heard he wanted to re-record his song again. You will have to ask him why he did that and if Salman did snub me it’s his choice. Salman is my senior and I love him.”
The Wizcraft director Sabbas Josephs who had to be diplomatic denied that Rakhi was ever supposed to perform on loud music. “Rakhi and other artists were expected to perform after the event and were being filmed strictly for the television. There was never a plan to use the public address system because it would be disturbing the law and the court regulations with regards to sound pollution. Post the show, like every other artist chooses to have a look at the filming of his or her respective acts Salman Khan too desired to have a look at the filming. And since he was unhappy he decided to re-record. Salman Khan’s act was performed and filmed during the course of the event before 10 pm. As planned, Rakhi was provided stage-monitored sound which was within the sound pollution limits and did not disturb the peace. This was as per plans,” he said.
