Political, religious harmony govt’s top priority: PM

KARACHIPrime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani yesterday said that political, social and religious harmony would be his government's top priority and an expansion in the federal cabinet would be decided in consultation with all allied parties.
The prime minister was talking to reporters after offering Fateha at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and the caretaker chief minister Abdul Qadir Halepota accompanied him.
“The best way to serve Pakistan and its people is to adhere to the principles laid down by the Father of the Nation. Our government will try its best to implement the teachings of our late founder,” said the prime minister.
In his first visit to Karachi after taking the oath of prime minister, Gilani said his visit aimed at paying homage to the Quaid-e-Azam and vowed that his government would serve the country and urged the politicians to show political maturity and work for the betterment of the masses.
“The people of Pakistan have high hopes in political leadership and we need to come up to their expectations and aspirations.
“We should also convey a message that the process of reconciliation has been well received by political forces as well as business community of the country,” added the prime minister.
Gilani stressed that the process of reconciliation would ensure political and economic stability leading to development and prosperity of the country.
Later, the prime minister flew to Garhi Khuda Bux to attend the 29th death anniversary of founder of Pakistan People’s Party Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
