PPP does not accept Pervez Musharraf as Constitutional President: Zardari







ISLAMABAD: Co-Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, Asif Ali Zardari Wednesday said although PPP does not accept President Pervez Musharraf as constitutional head of state, but indeed he is sitting in presidency as a reality. Speaking with private TV channel (Waqt News) he said, “I have told the friends that Pervez Musahrraf is a ground reality. After all, PPP’s Prime Minister is working with him and he is sitting as President of Pakistan.”
Asif Ali Zardari said, PPP launched campaign against him. It was the PPP, which raised slogans against the President.
Co-Chairman PPP said, the parliament would decide the future of President Pervez Musharraf in due course of time.
To a question he said, views of other political parties would be sought to corporate in the proposed constitutional package.
The PPP leader said, media has started a movement for the restoration of the judiciary. He was of the view that the results would have been much better, had it started the movement for supremacy of democracy earlier.
He added that the government became more strengthened rather than becoming weak after long march of lawyers.
Zardari said, Aitzaz Ahsan led the long march against the party’s policy, but the PPP has not issued-show cause notice to him on this gross violation.
He said, the issue of protective custody of Dr.Abdul Qadeer Khan was created by the pervious government and its continuity is still there. But he assured that he would resolve Dr. A.Q Khan issue .
He reiterated his party’s position that the strength of the judges has been increased in the finance bill in consultation with Mian Nawaz Sharif.
The judges currently working in superior judiciary will remain on their posts on the restoration of the deposed judges, he said adding, “ We are not challenging the position of Mian Nawaz Sharif on the issue”.
Asif Ali Zardari said that PPP is still waiting for PML (N) ministers to join federal cabinet. He said, if PPP would also call back their ministers from the Punjab cabinet, then the politics of ‘Chang Mang’ would be restarted.
