ISLAMABAD : The permeation of Information Technology in government functionaries has become a pre-requisite to ensure efficient, effective and transparent governance and deliver public services quickly, Incharge Minister of Information and Technology Qamar Zaman Kaira said. Addressing during Special Ministerial Roundtable Conference; organized by the Asia Pacific e-Government Forum, in Kuala Lumpur the Minister underscored need for use of IT by the developing countries including Pakistan for dissemination of vital information and services to the public without human interface.
“Pakistani government has emphasized the use of internet for dissemination of information and services to the people which has helped in creating transparency in the work processes—a fundamental ingredient for good governance,” Kaira said.
The e-government forum was also attended by Malaysian deputy minister for water and communication, minister for transport and communication of Maldives, Afghan minister for communication and information technology, and representative of regional and international IT institutions.
During his stay in Malaysia, the minister also visited the High Commission for Pakistan in Malaysia and called on High Commissioner Lt. General (Rtd) Tahir Mahmmud Qazi.
They discussed options to improve bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia particularly in field of the information technology.
