ISLAMABAD, Mar 27 : Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majeed on Thursday called on Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and congratulated him on assuming the office.
The Prime Minister lauded the role of armed forces in meeting national challenges, both territorial security and assistance during national calamities.
He said the government was committed to maintaining credible defence through conventional and strategic capabilities as Pakistan has a major role to play for peace and stability in the region.
The Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee briefed the Prime Minister on the performance and professional activities of the three armed services i.e army, air force and navy.
