Govt to improve implementation of District Assembly concept: Farhatuulah

ISLAMABAD, Mar 27 : The ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will bring stark changes into the concept of District government act which is an important clause of its manifesto unveiled during election campaign of Feb 18 election.
Ruling coalition comprising Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP), Pakistan Muslim League(PML-N) and Awami National Party (ANP) have been casting serious reservation over the role of district assemblies particulary in the Feb 18. elections.
People’s Party dyring the recent election had established Election Monitoring Cell under the supervision of Senator Latif Khosa which collected hundereds of examples regarding undue interruption by the District Nazims in various constituencies. Some one had been noticed seriously and caretaker government took remedies to undo all alleged measures taken by the Nazims.However it was not a be all and end all game.
Talking to the Spokesperson of Pakistan People’s Party(PPP) Farhatulah Baber Thursday said that Government will reform local bodies act according to its menifesto unveiled before commencing the election. We will improve the implementation of the District Assembly concept and make the District Assembly truly the highest political authority in the district to the clauses of constitution which is described in our manifesto” told APP briefly.
He said the party shall adhere to the provisions of constitution and make their best effort to enhance the standard of living of the common people. However he refused to comment on dissolving the existing local bodies and new election to be held in the current regime.
