Bomb explosion kills three, wounded 26 in Mardan: DPO




MARDAN : A powerful bomb planted in motorcar ripped through in a busy market near City Police Station here on Friday morning, killing three persons including ASI and wounded 26 others, DPO Tahir Khan said.
Assistant Sub Inspector, Farruk Saeed, owner of hotel Sher Muhammad and another perons Fazal Subhan were killed instantly while 26 others sustained injuries when the miscreants detonated the bomb fixed in car parked on backside of the City Police Station in congested Mardan city, he told APP. The incident was meant to create harassment among law abiding people of Mardan and sabotage peaceful atmosphere of the city, he added. He said that police has recovered pieces of the explosive device for evidence and the culprits would be arrested soon.
Twenty-six persons including Shamsur Rehman, Noushad, Noor Ali, Aziz Gul, Muhammad Raffique, Lal Nawaz, Saeed Khan, Nazir Ahmed, Hidayat Khan, Tauheed, Anwar Shah, Riaz Khan, Inmtiaz, Nazir Muhammad and Sabir were among the injured.
Police said that number of casualty may further increase.
More than 20 shops were destroyed. The injured were shifted to Mardan’ district hospital while the critical wounded have been shifted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital where condition of some patients are stated to be precarious. The emergency has been declared in the hospital and all the doctors and paramedics were immediately called from their private clinics and homes. Police has registered case and are investigating.
