IslamabadThe Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday approved a plan to open Sector H-17 reserved for private educational institutions. The CDA board approved the summary of Urban Planning Directorate to allow establishment of large private educational institutions in the new sector spread over an area of 817 acres. Private parties would purchase land for schools on their own from current owners of land in Sector H-17, while the civic body would receive development charges for basic facilities like water supply, sewerage system and roads. The layout and building plans and scrutiny of plans would be approved by the CDA on receiving plans from managements of educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities. The minimum area of each plot would be 100 kanals. The board meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari approved another summary of the Urban Planning Directorate for allotment of another 276 three-marla plots in the ‘katchi abadi’ of Sector G-8/1. The project was a part of upgradation of slums where mainly sanitary workers have been residing for quite some time. The CDA plans to allot another 150 plots to the dwellers of ‘katchi abadi’ of Sector G-8/1 later. The board members also decided to allow a private party to set up a facility for visa-seekers along 3rd Avenue near Diplomatic Enclave on build-operate and transfer (BoT) basis. The work on the project was, however, started prior to approval by the CDA board.
