Govt not to victimize any political worker: Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD : Advisor to the Interior Ministry Rehman Malik on Thursday assured the National Assembly that the government will not allow victimization of political workers. Speaking on a number of points of order, Malik said he will contact the provincial governments to get the relevant information and then inform the house.
“In collaboration with the provincial governments, a joint investigating team will be formed and take action on all FIRs registered to victimize political workers,” he said.
The PPP, he added, has been the most victimized party of Pakistan whose top leaders including Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Asif Zardari have remained incarcerated.
“There will be no victimization of any political party or its workers as we believe in taking along everybody,” he added.
Abdul Qadir Patel from PPP drew attention to the killing of some ten political workers in Karachi.
He said all of them, including four of his polling agents, were kidnapped, tortured and after brutal killing their bodies were dumped in front of their homes.
“All those found involved will be caught and brought to justice,” Malik said.
Sardar Bahadur Khan Sehar pointed out the kidnapping and gang-rape of a class four girl in his area and said after the passage of one week, the perpetrators of this heinous crime have not been arrested nor a DNA test carried out on the body.
Rehman Malik expressed his regret over the gruesome incident and assured the family of the victim that “they will see a positive result within two weeks.”
