BEIJING- Two passenger trains collided in eastern China on Monday, Xinhua news agency reported, and a hospital official said injured passengers had been admitted.
The official, at the Zhoucun District People's Hospital in Zibo city, did not say how many had been injured or if there had been any deaths.
One train, en route from Beijing to eastern city of Qingdao, hit another in Zibo, in Shandong province, in the early hours, a spokesman with the Shandong provincial government was quoted as saying.
The second train was travelling between Yantai, in Shandong, and Xuzhou in the neighbouring province of Jiangsu.
The Railway Minister was on his way to the accident site, Xinhua said.
In January, a high-speed train ran through a group of maintenance workers in the dark in Shandong, killing 18 in China's worst railway accident in years.
