ISLAMABAD : Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ms Sherry Rehman said on Wednesday that the government does not believe in witch hunt of its opponents and accountability process would be carried out through Parliamentary committees in a transparent manner.
She was replying to queries of the media persons during briefing after cabinet meeting here.
She said that the government would make arrangements for live coverage of National Assembly, Senate committees meetings or telecast of their recording.
Sherry Rehman said that committee on the restoration of the Deposed judges has been formed not to gain time but to expedite the process.
About a question about NFC Award she said that the federal government would hold consultations with the provincial governments to reconstitute it.
Replying to a question about unemployment in the country, she said that Labour Ministry in the next Cabinet meeting would give a presentation on 100-day plan. She further said that in 32 poverty-stricken districts of the country at least one person of each poor family would be provided job.
To a query Sherry Rehman said that a memorial would be built at the site of assassination of Shaheed PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto.
Answering a question about Health Ministry Sherry Rehman said that she would hold a separate briefing on matters related to the Health Ministry. She lamented that during last nine years there was neither national health policy in the country nor there were any funds for health sector.
She said that prices of petroleum products were discussed in every cabinet meeting as rising prices of crude oil in the international market affects almost all sectors of the economy.
She said that previous government did not do any planning to provide relief to the common man. “We are a democratic government and are answerable to the masses, so we would take all possible steps to provide relief to the general public”, she added.
