Foreign Minister for further strengthening Pak-Russian ties
ISLAMABAD : Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Tuesday hoped the existing deep economic and political ties between Pakistan and Russia would further grow in the coming years.Qureshi was speaking at the reception held at the Russian Embassy to celebrate the 60 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Russia.
He said that the two-way trade between the two countries had registered a five- fold increase during the last almost six years and there was wide scope to increase this volume of bilateral trade.
The Minister said the two countries were cooperating politically with each other at various forums of the world and were also collaborating in the fight on terror.
He said that 22 Million Muslims living in Russia were also an important factor in the friendship between the two countries. “Hilal products form an important segment of two-way trade”.
He lauded the role of Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in strengthening the Pak-Russian ties which he added were mutually beneficial to the two countries.
The Russian Ambassador Surgei Peskov stressed the need for further strengthening the economic and political bonds between the two countries.
