KARACHI - The ongoing power tussle between the Sindh government and the City government has created unrest among thousands of employees of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) who fear for their future in the present conflict.
Most of the employees say under the prevalent circumstances it is difficult to ascertain whether to follow the directives of Local Government Minister Agha Siraj Durrani or City Nazim Mustafa Kamal.
It is reported that the Sindh government plans to clip more powers of the city Nazim and take over control of several other organisations currently under his charge accusing him of being involved in embezzlement of billions of rupees as well as making illegal appointments.
However, the real victim of this tug of war would be the 16 million hapless residents of the metropolitan who are already reeling under power breakdowns, unannounced loadshedding, water shortage, over-flowing gutters and dug up roads.
