ISLAMABAD :Heads of Pakistan's ruling coalition parties on Tuesday failed to break deadlock on the judges issues after two-day talks in Dubai. Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif held talks for the second day in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
"So far the talks with the PPP are over," private Dawn TV channel quoted PML-N spokesman Siddiqul Farooq as saying.
The PPP calls for reinstatement of judges through a constitutional package, but the PML-N insists that they should be restored through a parliamentary resolution, as initially agreed by the two parties.
"The PPP has not taken PML-N into confidence over constitutional package," Farooq said.
Farooq said the PML-N will convene a party meeting to discuss the current situation, and the PML-N may withdraw from the coalition government if an agreement could not be reached on the judges issue.
The PPP and PML-N won the Feb. 18 elections and agreed to form the coalition government, but the two parties remain divided over the reinstatement of judges, who were sacked by President Pervez Musharraf last November under the state of emergency.
