PPP committed to restore the deposed judges : Sherry







ISLAMABAD : Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman Tuesday said that her party is committed to restore the deposed judges of superior judiciary and there is no hurdle whatsoever in this regard.Talking to a private television channel, she ruled out existance of any personal grudge on part of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari against deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary.
She said that PPP do not believes in the politics of personalities rather it advocates national reconciliation to ensure national integrity.
Had PPP indulged in personalities’ based politics, the situation would have turned disastrous following the martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the Minister said.
She said the PPP led coalition government deems the integrity of country as first priority adding it was for this purpose the top party leader rendered the sacrifice of her life.
Sherry said that an amicable formula for the restoration of deposed judges is ready and it needs a constitutional act for implementation.
She said the coalition partners should trust each other to move forward in a positive direction adding it would be unfortunate if they think otherwise.
To a question she said that Pakistan is a sovereign country and it will not allow any external interference to settle the domestic issues.
The PPP has a long history of struggle against dictatorships and it has rendered many sacrifices for the cause of independent judiciary the Minister said.
She said the PPP led coalition government will fulfill the promises made to the nation. It would stand by the commitments made in the Murree declaration.
She went on to say that the PPP led government would restore the deposed judges even if the PMLN parts its way from the coalition adding but the issue would hopefully be settled amicably.
