Islamabad :Federal Minister for Education and senior leader of PML-N Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal has expressed his hope that the Murree Declaration will be implemented in letter and spirit, as it is a high stake game for both the major coalition partners.“In anyway we have to find a solution to implement the accord,” Ahsan said this while talking media here on Wednesday. He said otherwise the Nawaz League would certainly pull out of the government and sit in the opposition. “Our coalition with PPP was based on restoration of judges of the Supreme Court for which we made a Declaration in Murree,” he said. After breaking up with PML-N, PPP would have the option of making alliance with the Quaid League which would be totally against the mandate given by the masses to them, he said.“The mandate of the people in the general elections was anti-Musharraf and to make alliance with the Quaid League would become a joke with it,” he said.Commenting on the alleged changing stance of Asif Ali Zardari over judges issue, Ahsan Iqbal said, “it would be due to foreign pressure. If it is due to pressure from outside then in order to survive one has to compromise on the principles.”However, we have yet to adopt a strategy with regard to continuing or breaking up with PPP if we fail to restore judges according to the deadline. All this would be decided in the meeting of the Central Executive Body of the PML-N to be chaired by its chief Nawaz Sharif in Lahore today (Thursday).Replying to a question about the present situation on judges issue and the role of the president in this regard, the minister said, “he is watching the situation silently and at the same time enjoying it.” However, we are hopeful to reach a positive conclusion over the Murree agreement. When asked why both the coalition partners in the government have made judges issue a major one and left out other problems of national interest like loadshedding, price hike etc, Ahsan said that with the revival of the authority of the Judiciary people would get justice. If it is left powerless dictated by influential then the poor would not get any kind of justice and would suffer badly.
